Premise
In Medias Res occurs some hundred years in the future relative to where we are now, but in an entirely different universe. It features Nicholas Gray (a swift fox who goes by Nick), who works for an intelligence agency called OPIA, and Nathan Warren (a gray wolf who goes by Nate), the son of Thomas Warren (often referred to simply by his last name), the Prime Minister of the Reverian Republic. The Director of OPIA, Jameson Admos, has assigned Nick to seduce Nate as a way to get to Warren and assassinate him.
Characters
Nicholas Gray (Nick) - High-ranking OPIA agent. Swift fox.
Nathan Warren (Nate) - Minister Warren's son who has distanced himself from his family's publicity. Deeply involved with Nick. Gray wolf.
Minister Thomas Warren - The Prime Minister of the Reverian Republic. Gray wolf.
Director Jameson Admos - The director of OPIA. Siberian tiger.
Ophelia Shern - An operator for OPIA. Snow leopard.
Galactic Regions
The Crest - The massive nebula in which the solar system Reverie is located.
Marian Apex - The galactic sub-quarter which contains Tyroine and Agria.
Erulian Sea - An unexplored region of space which contains many potentially habitable systems.
Planets
Reverie - A garden world. Rich mineral wealth lies in the freshwater oceans that span much of the planet. Native flora and fauna tend to be larger-than-average and can be aggressive if provoked.
Agria- Capital planet of the Kite Union. Geographically diverse and rather similar to Earth in terms of climate.
Tyroine - Colony world of the Kite Union. A geologically dense planet with small and typically harmless plant life and animals, saltwater lakes formed in ancient craters dominate the landscape of much of the northern hemisphere.
Cities
Merida - The largest port city in the charted galaxy. The capital of the planet Reverie and the Reverian Republic.
Caleston - Reverie's domed city, located near an active volcano. Mines near the volcano provide valuable minerals for the Reverian Republic. Though not directly at threat from eruption due to a different in altitude, the city powers a force field to protect itself from acid rain produced by the volcano.
Vectra - The "New York" of Agria, Vectra is a city built upon technological wealth and the backs of the less fortunate. The city is divided into two sections: the slums, aptly called Undertown for their literally being beneath the rich sector, which is what most refer to when using the name "Vectra."
New Carthage - The capital of Tyroine and the Kite Union. Home to OPIA headquarters.
Entities
Outer Planets Intelligence Agency (OPIA)- Originally formed when Agria's colonies in space were limited to its own solar system, OPIA leads the intelligence sector of the Kite Union.
The Devil's Angels - Simply put, ruthless space pirates. Well-organized and very wealthy, their goals are esoteric. The location of their base is unknown, but it is speculated to be located in an unknown planet in the Erulian Sea.
Kite Union - The official name of the governing body of Agria and its colonies and allies.
Reverian Republic - The official name of the governing body of Reverie and its colonies and allies.
Elysium Corporation - An interplanetary shipping company known for its monopolistic nature.
Other
Operators - Dedicated OPIA handlers for active operations.
Holoscreen (Holo) - A holographic projection that functions as a modern TV.
Paragon - Nick's spaceship. Equipped with state-of-the-art stealth technology and lightly armed. Fitted luxuriously and designed with comfort in mind, Paragon_also boasts a true artificial intelligence named _SAM, who assists with various operational tasks and, of course, flying the ship.
