Requiem for Darkness Part 1 A Beam of Light

The clouds inched along their path slowly and gracefully as the radiant sun beat down from above, hanging there just out of reach of those who seek the light. Thankfully, I'm not one of those who live in light, but I admire it greatly.

"Such a beautiful day" I heard myself say aloud. Suddenly the footsteps ahead stop.

"What the hell are you talking about?" asked my friend.

"Oh wait" I turned away and ran off, "I just remembered something. I'll talk to you later okay." I heard him yell as I ran off but I just waved and kept going. I forgot that I needed to go get some more clothes at the marketplace. Halfway through a shortcut, swooning over the cute clothes I was going to buy, I felt an ominous force around me. I turned east where it was originating and climbed up the building next to me for a better look. The sky was beautiful but I had no time to take it in. I could feel the presence moving towards the marketplace and, by the feel of it, it was a shadowpuppet.

In a quick burst of speed, I caught up to it in a matter of seconds, and, using gravity pull, pulled it into a side alley. I leapt into its path as it went to escape."Seems like more of you keep popping up everyday" I said as I started drawing my katana. It hesitated before leaping at me. "Too slow" I uttered as I appeared next to it, splitting it in half with one clean slash.

"That one looked more human than the others" I thought to myself as it dissolved into darkness. Sheathing my sword I walked back out of the alley into the marketplace. "Hehe, no time to think about that, there's shopping to be done." Even though I tried focusing on shopping, the evolution of the shadowpuppet worried me.

I always liked the marketplace, its chaos and mass of people always seemed calming in its own way. After a successful mission of buying more shirts and jeans, I started back home, but then I noticed something in the distance, a gorgeous grey wolf looking at me. His beautiful fur sent shivers down my spine.

I could have stood there staring at him for an eternity but then a rude salesman got in my face with his cheap watches for sale. By the time I shoved past him, the mysterious wolf was gone. The whole walk home I wondered who he was. "Hopefully I'll see him around sometime" I said to myself nearly a block away from home, "Hopefully...."
