Athena was swimming for what felt like hours. She was fascinated with the oceans. Because she is a water dragoness, she could hold her breath for nine hours at a time and is immune to water pressure and its effects. She knew that her dark purple scales would make an excellent camouflage. When she finally came to the surface for air, she heard a scream. She started looking around to find out were it came from. She then saw a group of humans on a boat looking strait at her. She did not know why they were pointing at her and was not going to wait and find out. She quickly dove under the water but did not notice the boat's propeller until it was too late the propeller cut deeply into her back. She was grateful she did not have wings but the pain was unbearable. She knew if she stayed in the water much longer, her blood would attract sharks. Normally sharks would not bother her but because she was hurt so badly, a large shark could be a real threat. Athena could feel herself weakening and decided to swim to the nearest beach. Her vision started get blurry and she started to lose consciousness. The last thing she saw was a small beach before every thing went black. Chase was an average 16-year-old kid he lived a boring life. He lost his sight temporarily after having laser eye surgery but it went wrong and now he was almost blind. He had to wear special glasses until his eyes recover. He was walking on the beach when he notice there was some movement near the water. He made his way to the source of the noise thinking maybe a dolphin washed up one the beach and was hurt. As he got closer, he could hear a voice. "Please help me .... Please" it said. Chase knew that whatever the creature was it needed help. Thinking it was a wounded fur he pull out a small fist aid kit he kept with him incase he stepped on a jellyfish or something. "What happened?" He asked. Athena was suspicious. She did not know this human or his intentions. She was expecting one of her sibling to come to her aid not this human. "Do you have bandages of any kind?" she asked. Chase could tell by the sound of the voice what ever this creature was it was definitely female. "You need help." he said. "All I need are some bandages. My body heals faster than yours human." she said with a slight hiss. Chase was a little hurt that she would show so much hostility but understood why. He was a stranger to her after all. "You should at least come with me to my house because a storm coming soon and it is not safe to be near the water." He said calmly. Athena did not know why this human would go out of his way just to help her. From what she knew, humans did not like other races very much. The way they treat the furs is a perfect example of their intolerance but he does not mind her appearance at all. Then she realized that this human was blind. Now it all made sense. "You are blind aren't you?" She asked. No my vision is just very limited. I cannot you completely you look like a fuzzy blur in my eyes. The doctor said it should have cleared up by now after they messed up my eye surgery but as you can see it has not. Chase said with a little anger in his voice. Athena felt sorry for him. They finally arrived at Chase's house. It was a small cottage but it had enough room to suit her needs as she put on the bandages she kept thinking about Chase illness. Being a water dragon she could heal any injury and wonder if she should heal his eyes. Chase was in his den listening to the radio while Athena was treating her injuries. The gash on Athena's back was now large cut and was no longer deep. Her natural healing rate was easily twenty times higher than a human's healing rate. Injuries that would take weeks for humans to heal from only took days for her. All dragons have this trait but water dragons can heal faster than any other type. As she came out of the bathroom, she found Chase sitting on the couch. "I don't think I ever got you name. She said. "My name is Chase and yours?' He asked. "Athena" she said with smile. "Interesting name." he said. "How so" Athena said getting curious. "Athena is the name of the goddess of war strategy but she doesn't like fighting and is known to be very kind and beautiful just like you." he said. "You wouldn't be saying that if you could see me." She said. "I lost my sight a year ago Athena but I never judged people based on their looks alone not even furs.," he countered. When the microwave went off Chase got out two plates and set the on the table asked if Athena wanted something to eat as well. Athena agreed and decided to repay him for his kindness. Chase was about to get up for a soda when Athena stopped him a volunteered to get it and went off into the kitchen before he could protest. While she was in the kitchen, she found a knife in the sink. She took the knife and held her breath as she as stabbed her palm drawing blood instantly. She put three drops of her blood in his drink to hide the taste. The bleeding last for about ten seconds before the cut was completely gone. She washed off her paws to get the extra blood off. When she went back the dining room and gave Chase his drink. She watched him drink all of his soda. When he finished he felt extremely tired suddenly. Athena knew this was a side effect from her blood entering his system and it would wear off soon. She suddenly heard thunder and knew that it was going to be too dangerous to swim home in this weather. You can stay as long as you want the guest room is the second door on the right he said as he went to bed for the night. Athena started to feel tired herself and went to the guest bedroom. It was not that big but it was not small either but she did care about that. She went straight to the bed and made herself comfortable. "I am really starting like this human he is different from the others. I have to go back home tomorrow. Venus is probably worried sick by now but maybe I can visit Chase the next time I am in the area if he still accepts me." she thought as she went to sleep.
The next morning Athena woke up early. She looked in Chase's room she saw he was still asleep. She grinned evilly as she remembered a prank she used pull on Venus when they were hatchlings. She quietly walked next to Chase's bed. When she got to the foot of his bed, she took a deep breath and roared. Chase's eyes shot open and he jumped clean off his and landed on the floor. Athena fell on her back laughing hysterically Chase just glared at her. When she finally stopped laughing she helped Chase to his feet. "How do you feel?" She asked. "I feel alright despite that little joke you pulled. So how is your back?" he asked. "Why don't you see for yourself" she said as she turned around to show him. "I see that it has healed. Wait I got my sight back!?" He exclaimed. "Yes Chase I healed your eyes to repay you for being so nice to me. And now that you can see again do you still think that I am beautiful?" She asked with a hopeful expression on her face. Chase looked at her strait in the eyes and said "I still think you are beautiful and I always will." Athena smiled as tears started well up in her eyes. "Thank you for everything Chase. You are the nicest human I have ever met. But I have to go home now" Athena said pulling Chase into a loving embrace. Chase looked very sad when Athena told him she had to leave. Athena was the only real friend he ever had since he lost his sight. Athena saw how sad he was and promised she would visit him any time she was in the area. After a long and emotion goodbye she swam off into the ocean to head home. "Venus going to rip my tail for making her worry so much" Athena thought as she made her way to the lair . She wasn't going mention Chase to the others yet. She knew they wouldn't like it especially Pyro.
