James sat and waited patiently outside of his fathers office, wearing a tuxedo and carrying a file folder full of different papers, one of them being his resume. Upon first glance, one would think he was already working there, when he was waiting for his interview. His father owned Johnson Enterprises, the worlds largest and richest weapons manufacturing company. He was there about a job as an assistant network administrator. He was taking a course on network administration in college, and his father thought it would be a great idea to have him work as an assistant so he could have some extra cash as well as field training. He knew the interview was just a formality, so his father wouldn't look like he was playing favorites.

The door to the office opened, and James father, Samuel strode out. The two looked almost identical to each other, except of course his father was taller and slimmer, and had a few wrinkles here and there. "Well James, I'm ready." James stood up and nodded to him as he walked into the office and sat down. The opposite wall was made of nothing but windows that showed the sky and the streets about 75 stories below. The huge office building was located right in the middle of NYC, adjacent to where the Twin Towers once stood.

"Well son, I'm really putting a lot at risk here as you know. But I'm sure you will come through in time. Just do what Billy says and everything should be fine. Billy is the one whom you will be assisting, by the way." Samuel sat down at his desk and began to enter the information from James' papers into his PC. Once he was finished, he handed him his name badge which had a barcode on the back of it. "This is a network administrators badge. You will have access to all the floors where our servers are located, except for a few rooms. If you need to get anywhere else you will need to get approval from one of the security officers. I know you won't do anything to harm the company, son, but this is just standard protocol."

James said nothing as he took the items and walked towards the exit. Normally he was much more social. However, there was a wall between him and his father. Samuel never did too much to take care of James. He was always too busy with the company. Even now, James felt used in a way since the last assistant administrator quit. As James left, Samuel sat up in his seat and leaned forwards against the desk. "James, I just gave you a job here and you aren't even out of college, and I know I raised you better than that. What do you say?"

"What do I say?" James almost snapped out at him as he heard his father speak, but held himself back just in time. Raised me better than that?! He barely fucking raised me at all! He thought to himself, slowly turning back around and continuing with a simple "Thank you, father," though the word father rolled slowly off his tongue as he forced himself to say it. With that, he slowly turned back around and walked out the door of his office.

Two months later...

"Hey James, I'm about to go on my lunch break and one of the servers down on the 5th floor in room 5-250 isn't responding. I've done everything I can think of software wise, so I need you to go down and look at it for me. I would just wait till after I got back and do it myself but the boss has a meeting soon and the server in question has files on it that he needs. So get it done and get it done quick, alright?" With that, the feline closed up his laptop and walked out the door. "I'm on it." He grabbed his own laptop and toolbox, before quickly walking out the door and taking the elevator down to the 5th floor. "5-200...5-205.." He read off the signs as he passed by. "I really wish they'd put more elevators in this place.."

Meanwhile...

Behind the large Johnson Enterprises building sat a relatively small building where prototype weapons were tested in a safe environment. A team of scientists had just finished developing a new bomb that could inflict both physical damage and biological, sort of like a mini nuke. The bomb in question was the very first prototype, so bugs and flaws were to be expected. The scientists carried the bomb in on a rolling table and sat it in the middle of the room, whilst other scientists slipped into protective suits and made their way to a safe distance. "Alright everyone soon the test will commence. I'll call Mr Johnson and tell him to have all his employees slip into the suits we've provided them. I'll give them about 15 minutes, then I'll activate the detonator which should give us about 30 seconds to prepare ourselves. So.."

The detonator let out a loud beep, before the countdown timer began to count backwards from 30. "What the?!" He frantically pressed the stop button, but the counter continued to count backwards. He ran behind the shelter and quickly slipped into his suit as he dialed Mr Johnson's number. "Sir, we have an emergency. The detonator activated itself somehow...I don't know! All I know is you have about 20 seconds to make sure that everyone gets to safety." With that he hung up the phone and ducked behind the barrier.

"Alright..here we are. 5-250." He swiped his badge at the scanner and stepped inside the room, which had about 4 or 5 different servers in it. "Yea, thanks for telling me which one is broken Billy..." He sighed as he walked in between the servers, stepping over the messes of network cabling that lay between them. Finally, he came upon the last one and shook his head as he spotted a loose network cable. "Someone should really secure these things better.." He reached down and secure plugged it back into it's socket.

"Attention all employees. Report to your offices and put on your radiation suits immediately. This is not a drill!" His fathers voice boomed over the speaker system, as workers frantically dropped everything and dashed into their offices. "What?! No!" James set down his laptop and made for the door, but tripped as his foot became tangled in the cables, dragging two of the servers off their stands and causing them to fall and pin him to the ground. He could only cringe in fear as he heard the loud explosion from behind the building rock the entire office as if it had been hit by terrorist. Suddenly there came a feeling of intense heat, like his whole body was on fire. James screamed out in agony as he felt his insides re arranged literally on a molecular level. Then suddenly, his body went completely limp underneath the servers, his eyes staring blankly at the wall across from him.
