#8 of Changing Seasons

Before we start, I just wanna say that this one is probably the longest and most complexed portion of the story. It contains several hidden secrets that may become spoilers for Parallel Universe. I don't know whether i should end it here or not, but let me know what you think...

Louis A. Timberwolf

Guest star: Selena Light

I know we'll meet again someday...

AN UNFINISHED STORY

Lionel gazed at the bundles of plastic bags placed on the rear seat of his van. His attention was always dragged back to all of those objects.

"Do you really have to go all out?" he sighed.

"What do you mean by that?" Louis looked at the driver.

"All you need to do is talk to her. Why would you rather go all out and bought all these for her?"

"First of all, I wanted to give her something special. Something for her to remember me by. And second, all of that is not for her. It's for you and Alex."

Lionel's attention quickly snapped towards Louis. His head turned quickly and his blue eyes went wide open at the last sentence.

"What?"

"Car! Car!" Louis pointed in front of him. Lionel snapped his head back and quickly maneuvered the car swiftly to avoid the traffic in front of them.

"Eyes on the road, Lionel," Louis sighed in relief of avoiding an accident.

"You said that all of it was for me and Alex, right?" Lionel asked as he returned his attention towards the road.

"Yeah. I want to apologize to you two for spacing out on you two. Especially to Alex. I've been neglecting him for a month."

"But... I can't take all these!"

"I insist. I wanna show you how sorry I am."

Lionel sighed and smiled at him.

"Well, if you put it that way, I'll gladly accept them."

"Thanks," Louis smiled happily.

"So what are you planning to do with her?"

"I'm thinking about giving her this," Louis patted a box on his lap.

"What's in it?"

"Park first. I don't want us to crash into anything again," Louis chuckled.

"I didn't crash!" Lionel protested as he parked at the gas station, both to look at the object and filling up the tank. As he filled the gas tank, he took a peek inside the mysterious box. His eyes widen and his lips blew a whistle.

"These things are expensive!" he said as he returned the box. "How could you afford all this!?"

"Well, I started a savings account ever since I became a cop. I knew it will come in handy someday."

"But that much!? How much did you spend?"

"Around fifteen thousand."

"Fifteen grand!?"

"What? It's just ten percent of all my money!" Louis looked at him plainly.

"Do you have any idea how much you've spent just then?" Lionel scratched his head as he stared at Louis, completly bewildered by this new action.

"I really don't care as long as we can make up," Louis looked down on the box.

Lionel shrugged and paid the gas money to the attendant nearby. He went back to the van and entered the driver's side.

"You do remember about thinking about the worst case scenarios, right?" Lionel asked as he started the car. "Have you thought about what will you do if she doesn't wanna see you?"

Louis' head quickly jolted towards him and he quickly smacked his head, cursing himself to forget about that insignificant little detail.

"You haven't, huh?" Lionel sighed.

"I'll think about it... I hope..."

The drive back became extremely quiet between the two.

"Hey, Lionel?" Louis broke the silence.

"Yeah?"

"Can you take me to John's?"

"Is something wrong?"

"I just don't feel like going home today," he sighed. "It really reminds me about... you know..."

"Okay," Lionel quickly nodded and made their way towards John's home. The large estate stood there as if it was waiting for their arrival. The two of them walked towards the front door and rang the bell. It took a few seconds before the door was opened by a little boy of around 11. He has black hair and blue eyes that stared at them questioningly. He wore a blue shirt and short blue pants over his body.

"Hello?" he said.

"Hi Chris," Louis bent down a little towards the boy. "Is your brother at home?" He was responded by a nod before Chris allowed them to come in. The cousins were greeted by a delicious scent of roast turkey as they entered the foyer. They followed the boy towards the kitchen where a young man was cooking something on the stove. He has brown hair, unlike the kid, and is wearing baggy clothing under his white apron.

"Big bro?" Chris called. "Someone's here to see you."

The young man turned his head, revealing his green eyes towards the guest. His face shows his age in the early 20's. He smiled softly, showing his hospitability.

"Oh Louis, Lionel," he said. "I didn't expect you two to come here. Do you want to have dinner with us? We're having turkey."

"That sound's great John," Louis smiled. "Sorry for dropping in so sudden."

"It's okay," John smiled as he resumed his cooking. "The more the merrier, right?"

"Hey Joy! Is it ready yet?" a man's voice rang from the double door on the North side of the room. John quickly grabbed a frying pan hanging on the wall and threw it towards the open doors. A loud banging noise was heard from the other room, followed by a thud.

"I told you not to call me that!" John yelled as he continues to cook.

"Still doing it?" Lionel chuckled.

"Yeah," John smiled. "Same old lion. Why don't you guys wait in the dining room while I finish these? It'll only take a minute."

The three of them headed towards the dining room to find Ter lying on the floor with the frying pan next to his lion head. The brown maned lion rubbed his head with his paw and groaned lightly before picking himself up. His green eyes looked up to the three people watching him. He chuckled slightly as he picked up the pan.

"That explains why he got angry," he smiled.

"What do you mean by that?" Lionel asked.

"Usually he never get angry whenever I call him that. The anger usually appears whenever we have guests."

"Ter!" John yelled as he walked in with a cart of food. His cheeks turned red as he continue to bring the food to the table. "That was supposed to be our secret!"

"But you like it, right?" Ter chuckled as he kissed his cheeks, making him blush even more.

"Eww!!" Chris yelled in disgust. "Kissing's gross!!"

The whole group roared in laughter as they began to dig into the hearty meal. Everyone took a bite of the turkey... It's delicious. The meat was very tender and the sauce really seeped into it, making it even tastier.

"It's delicious!" Lionel smiled.

"Thanks," John smiled. "I'm glad you liked it."

"You really know how to spoil me, hun," Ter said as he leaned in for another kiss, this time on the lips. Chris immediately repulsed, sending everyone to another roar of laughter.

"Say John," Louis called. "Can I ask for a favor?"

"Sure," John replied with a smile. "What is it?"

"I was wondering if I could sleep here for the night."

"Are you thinking about doing something?"

Louis just nodded.

"Okay," John smiled. "You remember where the guest room is, right?"

"Yeah. And thanks."

"No prob. Just let me know what's bugging you when you're ready."

"I'm planning on apologizing to Selena tomorrow, but I don't know what to do," Louis said it straight forward. "Maybe sleeping here would give me an idea."

"Or maybe I could summon up someone to help you consult..."

"I think I will handle my own problem, thank you very much," Louis chuckled. The group continue to chat about various topics until it was late. Ter took Chris back to his room as Lionel began to drive back to his house. Louis retired to the room and began to scribble some plans out almost instantaneously. John smiled softly as he closed the guest room door, not to disturb him as his head was flooded with various ideas. He slowly walked towards his room and entered it. The room is as big as the guest room, but it was more furnished. The windows on the west wall are covered by curtains with a cherry blossom design sewn on it. A TV hangs on the south wall above some DVD players with its speakers and surround systems hung all over the room to give more detailed noise. The bed across it was a full sized with Ter lying on the left side holding a magazine on his paws. His head turned towards the man and his muzzle let out a smile.

"Hey Joy," he said. "Are you thinking about something?"

"Yeah," John smiled back. "But how'd you know?"

"Honey, I've been with you ever since you were able to summon me," Ter chuckled as he placed the magazine on the night table beside it. "Of course I know whenever you think about something."

"Well, I was thinking I want to have a chat with someone today."

"Who?"

"Virgo. I'll be right back, okay?"

"Well, I'll just warm up your side of the bed," the lion chuckled.

"Thanks, Ter," John smiled as he stepped out of the room once more. He ran towards the training room where there was enough space for him to summon. The room is much wider than the other rooms to give the users more mobility when they train their skills. Various types of weapons hang on the walls for easy grab and go. John stood on the middle of the room and took a deep breath. He raised his right hand to his side and a magical blade appeared in front of it. The weapon has a white glow over the blade and the hilt of the sword is shaped as a lion head. He grabbed the blade and raised it high. The floor below him started to glow white like the blade as he focused on his trance.

"I summon thee from the zodiac Virgo, the maiden..." He said out loud. Slowly the light merged in front of him, materializing into a beautiful woman in a white dress. She had a very beautiful blonde hair that rolled down on her back, with a very pure white skin tone. She slowly opens her eyes, revealing her silver colored pupils towards the summoner.

"Is there something wrong, John?" she asked as she smiled gently at the man.

"I wanted to talk to you..." John replied as he lowered his sword. "It's about Louis."

"What about him?" the woman gave a worried and sad look.

"You know he's having trouble in his life," he sighed. "I was kinda hoping you would want to talk to him since... well, you know..."

The avatar of Virgo pondered for a moment before she shook her head. "No... I think it's best for him to solve it on his own."

"Why?" John raised his voice a little. "You know he needs your support!"

"If I appear in front of him, it still won't help him solve his problem with her. It might even distract him from it."

"I see... But don't you wanna see him again?"

"I want to... But not right now," she sighed. "Let's let time roll by once more. We'll find a chance someday."

"I guess so..."

"I'm happy that you are able to summon me, John," she smiled happily. "And I'm glad that you want to keep this little secret between us from them."

"It's really hard to do, Lily," John admitted. "But still, I'm sure he'd love to know his mother is doing okay."

"Louis is a strong boy, just like his father," Lily smiled. "I'm sure he would do fine even when I'm not with him."

"You're right," John smiled.

"Still, can I still peek on him? Just to check one last time before I go back?"

John nodded and quietly escorted the woman towards the guest room. They quietly opened the door to find Louis sound asleep on the chair. Lily walked over and using her magic, picked him up and placed him on the bed. She tucked him in and gave him a quick kiss on the forehead.

"Sleep well, hun," Lily smiled as she glowed once more before disappearing once more. John smiled and took a peek at the top paper. It was written: success. He chuckled lightly before exiting the room and turning off the light.

"Rest well, Louis," he smiled as he quietly closed the door.

The next day...

14 March

"Hey John!" Louis ran down the white walled halls towards an open room on the second floor. John was wearing a white fencing suit with a thin foil on his right hand with Terrance in his full body armor swinging his weapon towards him. The arctic wolf dodged left and right, avoiding the lion's great sword.

"Yeah?" John yelled as he tried to attack his sparring partner with some stabs.

"Can I ask for another help?"

"Sure thing. Just let us finish this."

The wolf quickly switched his weapon to his left and began to stab. The speed of his attacks is nearly doubled with his swift hand. Ter, on the other hand, keeps up his pace. The two continues to exchange strikes even faster than before. John finally swerved his foil on Ter's great sword handle. The thin piece of metal slid between the steel glove and the handle. With a quick flick, Ter's fingers were loose and John quickly kicked the sword, knocking it away from the lion's hand. In a blink of an eye, John pointed the foil to Ter, ending the practice session.

"I win this time," John smiled.

"Nice work," Terrance smiled softly. He took a quick peck at the wolf's lips before picking up his sword and sheathed it on the back of his armor. John chuckled and placed the foil on the weapon rack before wiping his sweat with a towel on hook close to it.

"That makes the scores... what? 29 to 43?" John's green eyes stared at his partner.

"44," Ter said as he wiped his sweaty head and mane with the extra towel. "I beat you last Monday, remember?"

"That one doesn't count." John growled slightly."You cheated. You pulled my tail when I flipped over you."

"But it's still a win, right?" Ter chuckled playfully. "And in battle, the results are the ones to be counted, whether you play fair or not."

"I guess that gives me a chance for an ambush attack..."John smiled slightly.

"Ahem," Louis cleared his throat, catching the two's attention.

"Oh, sorry," the arctic wolf smiled at the silver haired man, slightly embarrassed about forgetting about him. "So what is it?"

"Can we go to the airport right away?" Louis said directly.

"You wanna give it to her now?" Ter smiled.

"Actually, I was hoping that John would do it for me..."

"M-me!?" John jumped a little. "Why don't you do it yourself?"

"Please?" Louis gave him a weak smile.

"Alright," John sighed. "Just let me shower and change, okay?"

"Please hurry..."

"I will," John smiled back as he and Ter walked towards their bathroom.

30 minutes later...

"Attention to all passengers of flight 558JP," the intercom beeped up. "The gates will be closed in a few minutes. To all passengers of flight 558JP, please head towards gate 6."

"Let's see..." John slowly walk around the airport grounds in his human form. He took another look at the small photograph of the young woman and scanned the public location.

"She must be around here somewhere..." he grumbled slightly. His green and blue eyes quickly looked left and right to find his target. As he took another few steps, someone accidentally bumped into him, knocking him to the marble floor. He groaned as silent as possible and looked at the person. She's a young woman in her early twenties with long brown hair that curls on the end. She wore a long sleeved red top with black pants and shoes. She has a small brown purse hanging on her left shoulder. John quickly compared the woman with the picture in his mind. It was a complete match.

'It's her...' he smiled softly.

"Sorry," the woman apologized as she helped him up. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, thanks," the brown haired young man smiled back. "Are you Selena Light?"

"Yes," she said, a little surprised by the question, "How did you know my name?"

"A friend of mine asked me to give you this before you leave," he said as he handed her a small gift box.

"Who?" she asked as she held the box.

"He didn't want to tell you. But he said whether you open it or not, it's up to you."

"What does he mean by that?"

"He said that you have a decision on what to do with that gift."

"Hmm..."

John looked down on his pocket watch.

"Well, I gotta go. It was nice meeting you," John smiled at the confused woman.

"Likewise," Selena smiled back.

"Have a safe trip," John said as he left her and walked towards the airport exit.

"Did you give it to her?" Louis asked as John entered the driver's seat of the black sedan.

"I gave it to her," John smiled with his green and blue eyes staring at Louis' silver ones. "Are you sure you don't wanna see her for the last time?"

Louis shook his head.

"I'm okay with this. If I gave her the box myself, I wouldn't know how she would react in front of me."

"What if she threw it away? Or possibly destroy it?"

"I'm fine with it. Even if my message didn't reach to her, I wouldn't mind at all."

"What's in the box anyways?" John asked as he started to drive out of the airport's parking lot.

"Promise not to laugh?" Louis blushed.

"I swear," John smiled. "If I lied, you can call me Joy for the rest of the year."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

One hour earlier...

Louis slowly rose up from the guest bed, starching his whole body. He has spent countless hours to find the goodbye present he wanted to give her last night. He looked down on the bed, a little confused.

'How'd I end up here?' he thought. He slowly dismissed it as time was running out. He slowly rose up from the king sized mattress and walked towards the couch where he placed all his other belongings. He picked up a small black box the size of an assorted chocolate one and brought it with him to desk. He notice that the room has ran out of paper, slightly cursing himself for using too much of it. He slowly walked to the study room beside that room, over to the antique desk and sat down on the chair. He carefully observed his tools. The desk has a neat pile of papyrus on the top left corner with a lion shaped paperweight on it. To his right is a bottle of black ink with a white quill sitting close to it.

'This is pretty much old fashioned,' he chuckled slightly in his mind. 'I'm sure Joy wouldn't mind me using these...'

He took one of the papers on the desk and opened the bottle cap. He dipped the quill in the ink and began to write his farewell letter to Selena.

To Selena Light...

If you read this letter, it means you accept my gift. I know I haven't been much of a friend to you lately, especially since Valentine's Day, so I would like to apologize. I'm really sorry for the way I acted back then, and I'm sorry for leaving you alone over there. I was scared when you told me how you felt about me at the party. Back then, you told me that you're scared of me, even though you don't really mean it. I thought that you'd never want me as your friend anymore. That's why I left you near the lake. The one place I treasure most. I was planning to show it to the person I cared most. And you're the one. You are the one person I would never try to hurt intentionally. You're the first person who cared for me when others would just hurt me for being different. For that, I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I actually planned to give you this in person, but I don't know how you would react to me. I hope that this small gift would suffice as my apology.

Love...

Louis

Louis rechecked the letter once more and smiled with total satisfaction. He rolled the papyrus and tied it with a white ribbon. He took the box once more and peered to it. A diamond necklace the shape of a winged heart glimmered under the white light. He turned the trinket and read the engraving on it.

Angel.

He placed the shiny object back to it's place. He closed the box and placed it in another bigger box, along with the scroll. He tightly wrap the package and placed a ribbon on top of it.

'I hope this works...' he smiled. He took the box and head out of the study.

"Hey John!"

"You gave her an expensive diamond necklace while risking yourself by being rejected in public?" John stared blankly at the silver haired man.

"Is that a problem?" Louis asked.

"I think it's kinda sweet," John smiled. "But I'm also confused at the same time. If you went through all that extent, why don't you see her for the last time?"

"I don't need to," Louis smiled as he shook his head. "Cause I know. We'll meet again one day."

Louis gazed at the clear blue skies and smiles gently.

"Right, Selena?"

WHITE DAY END
