First Moon of Spring - Part 2

Story by Inkstain on SoFurry

Part two of my first ever story. Based in the same universe as the Webcomic 'Peter is the Wolf' but set apart and using none of the original IPs characters. Its a little conversational, thats a fault im gonna have to work on but all feedback is welcome. Also, though i'm not expecting any, any doodles of the chars, or your take on them would also be greatly appreciated. I'm not an artist and while writing these guys i would kinda like to see them. Maybe a commission down the line.

Part 2

"You two, leave." Annabel snapped at Shauna and Celeste. The two younger girls did so immediately keeping their heads low, not daring to make eye contact with their Alpha before disappearing into the forest.

Annabel wasn't as big as some of the other women in the pack but she was known to train herself hard, the weight of leadership driving her to improve herself on a daily basis and she possessed that wiry kind of strength that surprised most, like a bear trap waiting to snap. She also cut an intimidating figure when she wanted. She mostly came across as warm, some would even say 'cuddly' when they were sure she couldn't hear them but her usually deep brown fur looked inky black in the night and a pair of stern eyes with red-irises glared warnings when she was in a mood.

Reyna could see that Annabel was in a mood.

"If you overheard what I was saying with the girls I was just joking, trying to get them jealous, maybe spread some nice rumours to build Ezra up." she began, trying to sound flippant and brushing it off as banter, whirling through excuses. She flinched as Annabel's hand shot up, warning her to stop.

"I'm already pissed with you Reyna.." she started, breathing deeply to hold herself in check. "Is lying to your Alpha really the option you want to go with here?"

"Even if I didn't already know, I'm his sister, I can smell him all over you! What the fuck were you both thinking?" she continued as Reyna bowed her head, feeling shame in her attempts to deceive. "No, scratch that, I know exactly what you were thinking and heaven help me I can't blame you for it but do you not understand the danger you're putting the pack in?"

"The Pack? What about Ezra?" Reyna muttered.

"Ezra is part of the pack" Annabel countered before Reyna pointed down at the solitary light on in town. "Really?"

"NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO FUCKING TEST ME!" Annabel roared and Reyna shrank back.

Annabel let out a deep sigh. She knew she wasn't really angry with Reyna and god knows she wanted some happiness for Ezra but as Alpha she had to put the pack first. She stepped over to Reyna, taking a softer, less threatening stance and put her arm across the young girls shoulder, guiding her over to the rock and sitting down, urging her to do the same.

"Ezra is my family, there's nothing id ever do to hurt him and you've been there for him so long I know you feel the same, but you can't let yourself get carried away." Annabel said softly, turning to look at the young female. "Did you never ask yourself why we didn't let Ezra join in using Condoms?"

"Because no-one in town stocks them since they'd never be able to keep up with the demand?"

Annabel laughed, a genuine but slightly dirty laugh Reyna thought. It was the same laugh Ezra had.

"No, its because its too easy for accidents to happen. Even if we could find a brand strong enough that you girls wouldn't grind to shreds with how hard you fuck there's the risk of someone kissing him in the heat of the moment, pushing their pussy onto his mouth or trying to take his cock before he can get one on and god knows how many random fluids are flying around when you guys get going in a group."

Reyna licked her lips absent mindedly. She was listening but now was thinking about kissing Ezra, actually kissing his lips in the heat of the moment, of pushing her pussy into his face and taking his cock, then remembered the mess she had been left in after last months gathering and had to admit Annabel had a point.

"I know you've been doing it for a while, and I know you've been careful. If you hadn't I would have put a stop to it way before this point."

"So you're just putting a stop to it now." Reyna sulked.

"Actually no, I'm not." she said, staring down into the town, eyes drawn by Ezra's bedroom light and Reyna looked up at her, braving a small smile. "I do trust you with him Reyna, you've been friends for years even before all of this and I know its more than just the fun of sex between you." she paused for a moment, a wry smile crept across her lips. "Also speaking as someone who used to do his laundry, that boy needs draining every now and then." she sniggered.

Reyna blushed a bit. Not embarrassed but she had never really been this familiar with Annabel. Ezra had told her stories, he spoke of her as a sister after all but the only time she had really spoken to her was in formal situations and after the initial anger, this felt almost like a big sister checking out her baby brothers girlfriend.

"As long as you're careful I don't see there being a problem with one more month of fun..." Annabel said leaning back and propping herself up on her arms. She let that last line hang in the air, watching Reyna's expression. "...its not going to matter after the claiming. Right?"

Reyna didn't reply, her head lowered but her eyes remained looking out over the town.

"Ah fuck" sighed Annabel and she rubber her temples.

"I'm not claiming Ezra" Reyna said meekly, it was almost choked out, small tears began to form in Reyna's eyes.

"I'm relieved to hear that" Annabel replied, sitting up to once again put her arm around Reyna. "I know you two have something, and in any other situation I'd be all for it but the pack..." "...I'm Abstaining!" Reyna cut her off.

Annabel stiffened for a moment and stood up without saying a word. She paced back and forth a couple of times. Opened her mouth as if to start a sentence then changed her mind, unsure of how to continue. She wasn't even sure how she felt at this moment. Shock that Reyna would even consider the option mixed with anger at her stubbornness and a sadness knowing what kind of lifestyle this could lead to.

"You know that just because you don't pick one of the other boys, the pack won't let you be with Ezra. He's not just off the table for the claiming..." she grimaced using that same phrase he had used to describe his situation "... he's forbidden, for life. Its too big a risk to the pack."

"I mean it!" Reyna stated as she stood up to face Annabel. "I've thought about this for the past five years and I've made a choice. He's the best Male in town and if I can't have him then I'm not settling for anything less. I don't want any of the others, they're not up to his standard."

A sense of pride swelled in Annabel for a second at those words as Reyna stated her case. Her heart ached at the strength of her argument but she knew words wouldn't change the physical fact of the circumstances.

"People think that him being human is a weakness and sure, physically that might be true but you know him better than anyone. Just because he's been raised to think like us he operates by a different set of instincts. He uses those differences and everything else he's got just to keep up with us. He's never complained, or asked for anyone's help, he just keeps going so he can be part of the pack. Even when you warned us off him and barred him from the gathering he didn't complain. He obeyed his Alpha. He's got more patience and self control than the rest of the guys put together! If you had told any of the others at 18 that they weren't allowed to screw around they would have probably left the pack by now!"

Annabel had to admit that. In the five years since the girls came of age he'd never so much as had a close call with any of them and although they had all been warned, he was a horny adolescent surrounded by equally horny, statuesque goddesses. Hell, it had apparently taken Reyna most of that time just to get her hands in his pants, and she'd had a head start. The last point struck Annabel, just as it had when she had spoken to Ezra about 'his kind'. There had been plenty of talk for a number of years by the elders to convince Ezra that maybe his place was elsewhere but he wouldn't have it. His loyalty to the pack was more admirable than some of the wolves.

"Last week, we stayed out watching the stars, just to be around each other." Reyna continued, almost ranting at this point. "We ended up being out till almost dawn. Me and a male, laying out all night and nothing more than a cuddle happened. I don't think the other males have spent more than ten minutes in a room with a female without asking when the fucking would start."

Annabel smirked a little, knowing the truth of that statement though both of them knew that though Reyna had no actual problem joining in with said fucking, even instigating it herself on occasion, but Annabel could tell Reyna was tapping into feelings deeper than just her libido so she stayed quiet. It was becoming clear that this outburst had been building for a while and it was better to let her get it off her chest. Annabel had always suspected that the other girls showed interest in Ezra more for the novelty as much as anything else. She knew for a fact that Shauna's twin sister Sarah was particularly annoyed that there was one cock her age in town that she hadn't had in her ass. Annabel began to regret underestimating Reyna. Sure they had always been friends, but she never imagined she was considering him as a potential mate.

Truth be told, part of the whole claiming process was so that they could get as much fucking as they could out of their system so that when it came time to choose, they looked for more substance over just their favourite lay. Admittedly few ever did and Annabel cursed that life could be this unfair. Reyna, pouring her heart out in front of her Alpha, was proving that she may have actually figured it out.

"Over the years Ezra has given me everything he ever could except his cock, and that's the only thing the other males have ever been interested in giving me."

Annabel warred with herself internally. She wanted to burst into tears, she wanted to take the young girl in her arms and welcome her to the family. She couldn't be prouder of Ezra in that moment, even wishing that Mom was still here to see the man he had become, but the Pack Alpha in her brought her back down realising that it was exactly the 'man' that was the problem.

"The pack won't like this" she stated flatly. "Your father especially. I don't know if you knew but your were under consideration to be a potential Alpha in the future and an Alpha needs a strong mate."

"Why?" Reyna blurted. "You lead the pack fine. I don't think I've ever seen your mate have to lift a finger outside of his sheriff role, calming the odd argument. Its not like you need him to fight for you!"

Annabel smiled sadly at the young wolf, remembering a time when she still had so much to learn. "Having a mate is more than a cock to father your children or a lump of muscle to do your intimidating for you. Greg does more for me than even he knows just by being there. Every time i think im in over my head i know he's there to stand beside me" She fought back tears realising that her relationship sounded a lot like what Reyna was fighting for and she felt an intense guilt at having to enforce the double standard, the look of anger growing on Reyna's face indicating she too was more than aware of the hypocrisy.

"We we're impressed with the woman you were growing into." she finished, not giving her a chance linger on the point.

Reyna went quiet, biting back the stream of insults and instead fixed her Alpha with the sternest look she dare "And if you think you don't have Ezra to thank for some of who i am, then you've not been paying attention."

Reyna felt emboldened by voicing out loud the feelings that had been building in her for years, and to the Alpha no less. No, not just the Alpha, but Ezra's own sister! She lowered her ears, showing proper submission to her Alpha, but she was done here. Walking past her she prepared for something, a motion, a word, some kind of repercussion for her minor act of defiance but none came. She hit the tree-line and reached for her phone.

As Reyna vanished into the forest Annabel stood alone, She was amazed at the strength the young girl possessed but each point she had made stung her like a barb. Most we're arguments she'd already had with herself but it had come as a mild surprise just how strong Reyna's feelings were for her brother, probably stronger than even Reyna had realised. The young redhead had pushed her luck with her outburst, but Annabel couldn't bring herself to fault such honesty. She looked out over the town. A shape moved, blocking the light coming from that solitary window and although her eyes were good, they weren't that good but she was sure she could see the rough outline of a figure, obviously Ezra leaning out, probably staring right up at her and not knowing. She knew what he was waiting for and after a few minutes a loud howling began to rise behind her as one voice joined another, and another until dozens howled into the night marking the start of the gathering. Wiping tears from her eyes Annabel turned and moved to go meet the pack.

Ezra lay on his bed, the TV blaring out, trying to compete over the noise of the CD player that was also on. The advantage of having a town to yourself was the lack of noise complaints.

He had gotten bored so was revisiting an old hobby that he and a couple of his friends had done when they were young. Watching old horror movies that depicted Werewolves as the humans thought of them. Most of those nights were spent laughing, shouting "WRONG!" at the screen and recreating some of the more 'iconic' poses just for giggles.

He and the guys hadn't watched them in years but as he had gotten older, and Annabel had told him what would happen if he was turned, he found himself enjoying them less and less yet watching them more and more. He didn't want to become what he saw, furthermore he didn't want anyone to be responsible for making him become that. Sure, he'd had ideas. Maybe he would be different? Maybe he could control it? Maybe it all came down to how he was turned? Maybe he only went berserk if it was from a bite? All the girls had been warned off him but he was pretty sure if he had come on to them hard enough, or encouraged them in the right way, especially during the full moon, someone would have gone all the way with him by now. Maybe through sex the turning is different? In the end it was just too many maybes to be even worth the risk and he just wasn't that kind of guy, he was part of the pack and that meant looking out for everyone, not just an off chance fantasy.

Looking at the clock he realised it was almost time. He turned off the TV and the music, pushing open a window and leaning against the frame, looking up to the tree obscured hill to the south of town where the gathering usually took place. It was a sound he was waiting for. A primal thing that he prided himself as being one of the few humans to hear it and fully understand it.

The noise he wasn't expecting was the loud buzzing vibration of his phone. He picked it up, seeing Reyna's human face, the picture he had taken of her, smiling at him. He hit answer.

"Hey" he said cheerily, he didn't want to sound bored, he didn't want to make her feel guilty so he was definitely not bored. "Its almost time isn't it? Is everything cool?"

"Its fine, I just wanted to hear you" she said softly.

"Then why do you sound so sad?" he asked, picking up on the crackle in her voice.

As they spoke he heard it begin. The howl that marked the start of the gathering. Each member of the pack announcing themselves and he heard Reyna's voice join in, the human side giving way to the wilderness and he heard that bestial declaration reverberate down the phone line, even as he heard the collective noise echo through the hills.

"You know I love it when you do that" he teased as he heard her howl come to an end and the phone moved back to her ear, and was pleased to at least hear a little laughter back in her voice.

"Shut up.." she giggled. "Will you meet me in the morning?"

"Sure, I mean we usually do but is there something wrong?"

"Not wrong..." she said, choosing her words, "lets just say there might be something I want you to hear from me first."

"OK... sure" he said, curious but he trusted her. If she said it was OK then it was OK. "Do you want the usual?" he asked.

"Ooh, yes please" came her response and he could hear the smile back on her face.

"I have to go, ill see you in the morning. Bye!"

As the phone disconnected the howling had completely ended so he came back in and closed his window. Sitting on the edge of his bed his phone buzzed once more, a follow up message from Reyna and he swore at no-one in particular as he opened the selfie she had taken. Sending photo's in wolf form was for obvious reasons not allowed so she had shifted back to her human form and the sheer strain was evident on her face as she fought against the moons pull to shift back while holding the camera above her open mouth, tongue reaching out and her her free hand pulling at the neckline of her shirt, exposing deep and inviting cleavage. The words "I'm coming for your meat in the morning" posted below it.

Reyna put her phone back in her pocket and began to undress. Sure she could have gotten naked before she took the picture for Ezra but there was an art to a tease. No point in showing him everything at once... not that he hadn't seen it before, but still. She shrugged off the loose fitting clothing before allowing herself to relax and change to her wolf form, stashing them in her usual spot and heading off to the camp site.

The old log cabin stood to one side of a clearing. A small bonfire burned in the centre and a series of trestle tables had been set up near it, a variety of food, though mostly meat, spread across it. The gathering had started out as purely a way of getting back to nature but as generations passed it had over time become a naked midnight picnic, at least here by the cabin. Some preferred to stay by the fire and talk, others would move off into the woods. Some would hunt, others got up to more physical pursuits.

She found her friends to the side of the cabin. Chester, Max, Robert and Chris were sat on stumps talking and laughing obnoxiously so pretty much a normal evening for those four. Celeste was leaning against Chester's back as she talked with Sarah, her tail whipping around into his face every now and then. She would apologise each time but Reyna knew it was completely intentional. Chester wasn't the brightest but his heart was in the right place most of the time and though he evidently hadn't realised it, Celeste had unofficially made her choice.

All 6 of them visibly stiffened when Reyna approached, none of the males looked particularly pleased to see her. "What's wrong?" she asked but she had a feeling she already knew.

She glared at Celeste who held her hands up and stepped back in a 'don't look at me' gesture before pointing down towards the end of the cabin. She could see Cliff leaning up against the cabin, she hadn't initially spotted him in the darkness.

"But, Cliff had already left...?" she began, knowing that he couldn't have heard the bulk of the conversation then noticed the pale shape bobbing back and forth at his waist. Shauna, true to her word had offered to deal with Cliff first, currently taking him wholly in her throat. Reyna was actually impressed at the feat for the briefest of moments befor anger replaced it. Sarah and Shauna were both grey wolves, it meant they both had stunning, natural platinum blonde hair and if it wasn't for that flash of silver Reyna wasn't sure she would have spotted Shauna trying to disappear between Cliffs legs.

"You told them!?" she growled.

There was an audible pop as Shauna released the head of Cliffs considerable prick from her lips. "I didn't tell them anything." she said defensively. "They asked me where you were and I may or may not have confirmed or denied their line of questioning."

Celeste shook her head "She told them you're claiming Ezra."

"You bitch!" Reyna shouted. "I told you damn well that's not what was happening!"

"What's all this shouting? What's not happening?" a voice asked behind her and Reyna turned to see the hulking form of Mr Carter, Chester's father walking over with a puzzled expression on his face. "The gathering has only just started and you guys are already making a scene?"

"Don't look at us Mr. Carter," Cliff said in a grumpy tone, evidently not happy that Reyna had interrupted his first blow job of the night. "Its not our fault Reyna has a monkey on her back!"

Reyna glared and took a step towards Cliff. "I've fucking warned you about calling him that!" she growled, but before she could take more than a step towards him a lower and much more threatening voice stopped her in her tracks as Annabel stalked past Mr Carter and into the crowd of youngsters. "...and so have I!" she snarled.

Cliffs eyes bulged in terror as she approached, Shauna scrambled away on her haunches, falling on her ass, trying to put as much distance between her and Cliff as possible as if he had suddenly become a bomb about to explode.

He was frozen to the spot, lifting his head to avoid making any form of eye contact but that simply exposed his throat and Annabel made a point to raise her mouth to it, bared teeth clenched in a show of dominance. She knew this wasn't Alpha behaviour, not this harsh a reaction for simple name calling but she had warned Cliff before and in this instant he wasn't dealing with the Alpha, he was dealing with a pissed off big sister.

"I arrived not ten seconds ago and the first thing I hear is you talking shit about my brother?"

He didn't reply. He was either too dumb to think of a reply or smart enough to keep his mouth shut instead of trying to think of an excuse, either way it didn't matter to Annabel. She knew that despite the conversation with Reyna, nipping off any potential gossip at the bud was the most pressing matter, and it had to be done in a way they would remember. She reached down, roughly grabbing Cliff by the root of his still hard cock before squeezing hard. Cliff yelped in pain.

"Did you finish him off yet?" she asked, glaring at Shauna. Shauna shook here head. "No ma'am, I uh... I kinda like edging them a little when we have the whole night."

"Good" she said plainly and walked back to the centre of the clearing, dragging Cliff along behind her by the base of his shaft to a stump on the far side and roughly shoving him to sit on it. Far enough away from everyone else but close enough that he couldn't wriggle his way out of what she had planned without anyone noticing.

"You're going to sit there for the rest of the night" she started, "If you move, ill disqualify you from the claiming." He opened his mouth, the protest stuck in his throat with a look from Annabel. "If any of the girls come over to help you out, ill disqualify you from the claiming." his hand immediately dropped to his already aching balls and Annabel lowered her face to his, glaring him straight in the eyes, her tone becoming lower and more menacing. "And if I see, or even smell one drop of Jizz over here, you're disqualified from the claiming. That's not a threat, its a promise."

"What the fuck is this?" boomed the voice of Mr. Summers as he approached. Cliffs father was small as far as the males went but he still had a good couple of feet over Annabel and he had a reputation for a temper which usually caused trouble for him or those around him, evidence of which was the scar above his right eye. Werewolves had an incredible healing ability and only 2 things to Annabel's knowledge could leave them scarred. Silver, or another were's claws or teeth. He would never tell anyone how he got it but he was a surly bastard because of it with a problem for authority. It looked like he had passed this last trait on to his son.

"Just teaching your boy a little lesson in respect Hank" she snapped, holding short of adding 'someone has to'. He towered over her but if she was intimidated in any way, Annabel wasn't showing it.

"What the fuck did he do now?"

"I Called Ezra a monkey, Sir!" ...Cliff said bluntly. Annabel noticed how quickly Cliff answered, almost like an automatic response when his father asked a question, even though the question wasn't aimed at him. She made a note to look into his parenting techniques at some point in the future.

"Shit, is that all?" he snorted dismissively.

Annabel raised an eyebrow to that response and her fur bristled. "Your boy wants to make fun of another pack member, even when he's been warned, then I think a night in his shoes with no action might do him some good!"

"Pack member?" Hank asked. "Far as I can tell every member of my pack is right here at the gathering. Don't get mad at us just because you have to leave your pet at home!"

Annabel felt a large presence move up beside her. Her nose told her it was Greg, her mate. A heavy hand on her shoulder as much for support as restraint.

"C'mon now Hank." said Greg, casually gnawing on a ham joint from the table as if there wasn't any real situation. Annabel always appreciated his ability to diffuse situations, its why he made a good sheriff. "Your boy was out of line, no need to let this blow out of proportion." That last part was as much for Annabel as it was for Hank.

Hank had been one of the strongest dissenting voices when Annabel's mother had found Ezra and he always took an opportunity to push Annabel's buttons if the chance arose. This time at least he saw there was no point continuing and walked away, an arrogant sneer still on his face.

"Don't worry about him, What would a pack be without its resident asshole?" Greg said once Hank was out of earshot. "Besides, there's always a lot of tension around the Claiming".

Annabel turned and saw a small shape peek out from behind Gregs leg. She knelt down, offering her hand out and Alexa, her daughter stepped out from behind her father and into her mothers arms. Annabel kissed the top of her young child's head, easing that familiar look of worry that all kids get when grown-ups were fighting.

"Please don't mention the Claiming she said looking up, that's a headache for another night. I don't need any more drama tonight!"

Greg looked puzzled for a moment, but before he could ask what she meant another voice cut him off.

"Oh..." it said, the voice firm but soft at the same time. "Should I come back later?"

Annabel looked up. The entire camp had gone silent, everyone looking at the speaker. A tall female wolf sat on a chair by one of the tables. No-one could remember seeing her walk in but she looked settled, as if she had always been there. Her dark brown fur was beginning to grey at the ends and formed distinguished strips around her muzzle and the tips of her ears but the eyes looked youthful, despite the unmistakable glint of experience.

"Its nice to see some people haven't changed" she said, nodding her head in the direction Hank had left.

Annabel was just staring. She hadn't realised her mouth had been open for most of the time since seeing this newcomer and she swallowed hard before uttering a word.

"M...Mom?!"

"Hello dear, I've missed you" said her mother.
