A commission for Nommz a small while ago, where his nefarious alter ego The Beastmaster makes an appearance in the haphazard town of New Rhodia, with plans to make off with riches, aided by several considerable creatures.

Can our daring shape-shifting hero deal with the wicked fiend and his associates before the city is snapped up by the Beastmaster's greedy jaws?

'Now, I know you are all second year biology students, but we still prefer to do a little bit of history before we go further with our explanation.' The equine smiled, hands clasped together before the assorted students he had before him. Pictures lay stuck to the walls about him, a screen to one side of him hosting an image from a projector nearby. 'So, as you all should be aware, after the Trench catastrophe, some hundred and seventy years ago, potentia made its way through the atmosphere and water sources the planet over were in course impregnated. Given the mutagenic nature of it, what all does that suggest for wild-life?' the zoo keep asked, eyes panning around the room. His eyes focused on the raised hand of a slimmer shouldered bear.

'Well sir, Potentia has a tendency to bind to and augment cellular structures. Though usually great alterations come, at least in higher functioning creatures under immense mental duress, so, theoretically it would simply adjust their.. longevity? Or their potential for growth?'

The equine nodded again. 'You are spot on the mark on most accounts my dear, but animals are themselves thinking creatures. Even if they do not harbour the means for higher level critical thinking, the way we are, they still have mental capacities to trigger a reaction greater than lingering mutations. Further, your text books surely state that creatures were bound among those close to their DNA in order to bear fertile offspring in the past, that is no longer the case. Potentia's nature bridges the gap between species, and permits the means by which normal DNA would not be able to combine. Chimaera, or hybrids are not an uncommon thing, anymore.' The horse's eyes passed over several among the student body, even side long to the colleague beside him, a rabbit with a thick, ropey tail and webbed fingers.

'Of course, by this mechanism, nature has, after a fashion, reclaimed a good deal of itself through the birthing of several known superbreeds. Writings reclaimed from numerous small villages, several years after the catastrophe paint the story of wildlife getting bigger, more ferocious, and after a fashion, monstrous. ...But enough about the darker side of things!' chuckled the equine, clicking a small remote, and shifting the picture on the screen.

As he continued talking, the door to the room opened, and a nervous looking feline crept his way in. Ducking carefully about the bodies, eased himself to the horse to lean in. Softly distracting him from his slide, he whispered lightly. Though most of the class sat quietly, a little confused by the intrusion, a young kangaroo in their number twitched his ears. In the soft gloom of the room, none noticed the faint shift in their shape.

'..are gone!' whispered the cheetah nervously. The zoo keep's eyes widened a little, turning to whisper back.

'What do you mean, gone..?'

'We thought they were hiding among their caves, but come feeding time, there was no sign of them!'

Almost as if on cue, the horse's phone lit up, beginning to ring. Turning his back to the class, the horse answered, tensing for a few moments and looking back to the class, covering the mouthpiece of the phone. He looked slightly strained, and pale beneath his roany fur.

'I do appologize, but we're going to have to cut the trip short today. The zoo's having a little trouble with some of its animals.' His eyes passed over the class' professor, who nodded understandingly, and ushering everyone up, filed them out as the horse returned to his phonecall.

'What do you think that was about?' chattered a mouse to his friend, a fox, who shrugged, adjusting his backpack.

'Who can say, it was still interesting, what we did learn about.'

'Well, pending on how things go, maybe we can come back at a later date to finish things up. I'd be happy to give you all the material, but I feel its better explained by those who deal in it specifically.' their teacher said, walking them through the bowels of the zoo's staff-only area, though a couple of students paused outside the window of another room.

'..I think that's what it might be about.' Murmured a porcupine, regarding the image on screen from one of the local news stations covering an apparent mass outbreak from the zoo. A pack of wolves snapping at people, though they seemed to be following a formation, keeping rank outside the doors of a jewelry store.

Inside said store, a hooded figure smirked broadly. Dressed in a thick tunic emblazoned with a downward arrow angled and stylized into a broad cheshire cat grin. His horned face was mostly hidden under a cowl, his eyes obscurred by a domino mask. His arms and legs bore protective gauntlets and greaves, though his hands and feet remained bare, broad, clawed, and dextrous.. One arm holding out the thick leather pouch to the quivering store-clerk, as the other pet calmly through the mane of an immense lion. One of its broad forepaws rested, claws pricking at the shirt of a canid.

'Much obliged, now make sure you get those rubies in there too, unless you want your friend here to meet a rather nasty end.' coaxed the curious hybrid, his thick tail, tufted, with a mane of fur along its spine waving behind him. It didn't hurt that the crossbow mounted on his arm was also primed and pointed at the nervous bird. Her plumage shook as she hurriedly emptied trays of jewelry into the satchel.

When the last was divested into the softly clinking and clattering bag, he settled it on his hip, turning to look out the window.

'Good boy.' The BeastMaster rumbled to the lion, stroking its ears and earning a thick rumble and affectionate nuzzle from it.

Stepping out from the store, his broad feet manouvering easily through the protective barrier of hackle-raised, snarling wolves, the dragonmutt thought a simple command. 'Follow.' And all at once, the wolves abandoned their post, instead loping alongside their apparent master and his hefty feline companion. His eyes set upon another store.

The doorbell chimed as he stepped in, holding it ajar for the large lion to squeeze in, earning screams from those situated within.

'Now now, everyone calm down.' Smirked the dragonmutt, lifting his hands placatingly, though it did little to ease the clerks and customers. 'We'll keep this simple. Goods in the bag, or you get to meet the inside of my friend's jaws.' The lion yawned wide.

He was nearly ready to leave, scarcely a minute later, before he heard several yelps from his wolf-pack. Turning his head swiftly, the hybrid watched several of their number collapse, apparently shocked. Several police officers approached, suits snug and armored, angularly designed, rifles levelled with the store.

The sound of glass breaking made the customers scream again, before the large lion collapsed after several teetering moments. A feathered tranquilizer visible through its rich mane.

'Hands in the air, now! You're under arrest!' shouted one of the officers, backing the Beastmaster up against a wall, scattering customers. Though cornered, the hybrid's smirk hadn't yet entirely left his face. He raised his hands obligingly, and chuckled softly.

'What do you think is so funny?' growled the officer, keeping the villain in his sights.

'Just that you think I'd pull a stunt like this with wolves and a lion.' smirked BeastMaster, before he whistled sharply.

The air was silent for several moments following, until a growing, thudding rumble made the officers look about tersely, and then scatter as the wall to one side of the BeastMaster exploded outwards on the thick horns and burly shape of a massive creature that charged out into the street on immensely broad limbs and wide footpaws that cracked pavement and tarmac beneath its weight. Considerably larger than a truck, and armored with thick, keratinous plating, it waved a thick, powerful club-like tail. Throwing the officer easily with a toss of its head, it emitted a window cracking roar, whilst other officers scrambled for cover.

Several shots rang out through the streets, but whatever ammunition they were using either seemed to ricochet off its form, or was wholly inneffectual against its mass. Several of the feathered tranquilizers imbedded themselves in its rampaging form, but did nothing to stop it as it charged one of the police vans, and upturned up, sending it rolling and crashing through a shop-front with a minimal amount of effort. And all through, the news helicopter kept up the live feed.

The biology class staring at one of the tv screens near the entrance, as several of the zoo staff hurried out with rifles and special ammunition.

Kai's ears perked as his phone rang in his pocket. Though he was invested in the news, he retreated around a corner to answer the call. He knew the ring-tone though.

'I've been watching on TV.'

'Good, then I can keep this quick. You should get down there, give those cops some cover. Whatever that thing is, it's not going to like whatever the zoo does to it. And if they can't down it, you know the next step.'

'What do you mean ?Whatever that thing is??' The roo asked, peering around the building, staring at the creature on the TV screen.

'It's not a normal animal. It's not even a super breed. It matches no file description anyone in the lab has, and it's apparently immune to the strongest grade of tranquilizer the PD has.'

'..Alright, got it.' Kai murmured, adjusting his backpack, and after making sure no one was in sight, adjusted his shape and clothing. Hurrying passed his classmates, completely ignored, as none of them knew the black-furred rat, he hurried into an alleyway, to change properly.

Morpheus took to the air, soaring for downtown, cape billowing.

He could see before he even landed, the great beast was joined by a couple more. They were making a terrifying mess of the block, charging after police officers, forcing them to dive out of the way and into cover, gunshots echoing, but doing little more than agitating the great beasts.

Several large birds, quite vulture like, but with thicker plumage that sheened in an almost metalic fashion screeched, swooping about a van with the zoo's emblem on it. Their talons scraped, gouging the metal sides of the vehicles, keeping those inside from getting out.

'What's the matter?' laughed the Beastmaster, as the great lion roused, shakey and bleary, it stilled to its master's touch. 'You're not having trouble with some -beasts- now, are you?'

Morpheus' eyes widened as he saw one of the immense creatures turning, having spied one of the officers out in the open, apparently hoping to get a clear shot of the villain. It let out a bellowing roar and charged, lowering its horns, intent on either goring, or out and out crushing the pesky officer. Soaring swiftly, the hero turned in the air, gripping one hand against the beast's face, the other against one of its horns. His boots planted on the ground, sliding under the unstoppable force from the massive creature, before his suit and body rippled.

It could be a risky thing, imitating a creature he didn't understand, but he preferred his chances, than the officer's of resisting getting trampled flat.

Growling, and then roaring as the change rapidly took effect, the hero's body contorted and swelled, surging in mass, to match the great beast's. His belt and the metal portions of his suit resituated, into a thick, spiked collar, and a metal face-plate, the bio mesh of his suit sank into his skin, helping protect him as his flesh darkened, becoming armored. His hands and feet becoming more designed for carrying the immense weight of what he was shifting into..

His roar cracked windows as he locked horns with the beast, bracing, and halting its charge through brute force, snorting, snarling nose to nose with the creature. The police officer, quaking between his hindlegs, scrambled for safety, as the hero wrestled, and overturned the beast with incredible effort.

Snorting, he turned to face the two other beasts, that had turned their attentions on him. He lowered himself, prepared to let the beast's more animalistic, even territorial nature help him defend himself.

Until he felt the most compelling urge, along with vivid mental images, to crush one of those police cruisers flat. Several more had arrived during his wrestling match with the other great beast. The roars they let loose rattling his mind, the shape-shifted beast turned its gaze towards one of the trucks, and charged. Several bullets pinged off his thick armor and face-plate, making him snarl with fury.

Beastmaster grinned with delight all the while, laughing as the officer's backup had readily been turned back on them. The great Morpheus, though deftly skilled, apparently was quite succeptible to his influence like any other mundane beast.

He'd studied the hero, in his travels. He knew well the extent his foe could alter himself to, and now he had that figure under his heel, bound to his whims. A beast for any occasion, the prize of his collective horde. The mayhem he could unleash, the riches he could plunder, the terror he could reap..!

He watched, smirking, and waving an arm, directing the other beasts to continue their crashing destruction, levelling one nearby building whilst the great beast that was Morpheus crashed his broad feet over the bonnet, windscreen and roof of a police cruiser. The reinforced vehicle crumpled like a soda can beneath his heavy steps. And with a sharp turn, his great tail slammed another one flying, as well as several officers who had been using it for cover.

He approached one fallen officer, snarling, panting heavily.. eyes traveling over the quivering figure beneath him. The officer's arms holding a simple pistol, pointed squarely at him. The smell of fear on his prey was enticing, it made him salivate..

'Oh gods. No, no no..!' the officer yelped, frozen in place as the beast's hot, heavy breath billowed against him, those slitted eyes narrowed as the beast's fangs bared..

The beast hesitated though. Its eyes focused on the officer's face, until something akin to recognition glinted in the eyes. They softened slightly as Morpheus wrested control of himself back from the feral mind of the beast whose body he inhabited.

'What are you waiting for? Finish him!' Barked the Beastmaster, focusing intently on the great beast. Momentarily, the hero winced, as the urge welled up inside him.. but he fought to master it. Giving the officer a slow wink, the great beast parted his great jaws, fangs designed to rend flesh framing the dark cavernous pit, thick with saliva, and lunged.

The officer, despite having seen the curious look on the beast's face, screamed all the same as those terrible jaws surged overhead, clamping easily about his waist in one single chomp.

The fangs pressed, but not with any amount of force about his body, holding him in place as the beast tossed his head up and back, vaulting him into the air, and subsequently into the stiffling, powerful depths of the beast's gullet. The officer screamed into the smothering flesh as in no more than three tosses of his head, the beastial hero sealed him wholly away, finishing him with an audible swallow, the roiling bulge of his meal vanishing along the underside of his chest and bulging out his stomach.

The other officers stared, several retreating as their coworker was devoured before their eyes. One of them pulled up a large phone from their vehicle. Even over the chaos of the street, the great beast could hear him shouting 'We need heavy back up! Force authorized!' He didn't have long.

Turning, the beast regarded the beastmaster, who smirked wide at the police retreating. He beckoned the great beast over, smirking proudly.

'Excellent work, my friend. I don't know how tasty that cop was, but there will be more yet. You'll have your fill before the day is out. And after we let things settle, we'll see about any other stores willing to part with their goods.' He chuckled, petting along the broad side of the beast, feeling the struggles muted heavily through the beast's underside.

'Oh, don't worry, your friends will be joining you shortly, you an be sure of that.' The dragon hybrid snickered keenly, turning to make after the retreating police. 'Come!'

The street shook with the great beasts tromping ahead of their master in a protective formation, save Morpheus, who tromped behind him.

'Just as well Dr. Spot's associate was so obliging in making you boys for me. I should really thank him when we're done here, by feeding him to one of you.' Smirked the hybrid dragon, savoring the sound of the rattling satchels of goodies he'd looted.

With the villain distracted, Morpheus quickened his pace, looming some over the hooded dragon's form, and parting his jaws again. They plunged once more, cramming over the slightly pudgy dragon's form, and hauling him back readily.

Almost at once, the two beasts ahead of him tensed, and turned about, roaring and snarling in warning fashions as the dragon struggled in the jaws of the beast.

'What are you doing, you stupid animal!? Spit me out, RIGHT NOW!' Beastmaster roared, focusing intently on having the beast spit him free.

Expecting it this time, Morpheus was braced, and rather than obey, his thick tongue undulated, wrapping some about the smaller figure, dragging him back as he swallowed firmly. The struggling mass of dragon sank over the back of his tongue and into his gullet as the officer had done before. The two other large beasts charged, apparently on the order of their master.

Morpheus turned swiftly, slamming one into the other with his mace-like tail, lumbering away to finish packing the dragon down. Another swallow compressed Beastmaster wholly into his gullet, and clacking his jaws shut, the hero turned to face the two recovering monsters baring down on him.

He used his mass, curling up with a shift of his body. Taking on the shape of a sizeable armadillo, the beasts impacted his armored hide, sending the hero rolling and crashing into a building. Unfurling, Morpheus clambered back to his feet, feeling his stomach writhing, struggling as the villain met the police officer he'd swallowed earlier. The duo wrestled within him, though he could feel the larger of the two overpowering the other..

He took a tumble, crashing on his side as one of the other great beasts slammed him with its tail. The other reared, its great horns poised to gore his softer underside, until the truck-sized armadillo felt a thud in his stomach. One of the figures sagged, and the two great beasts suddenly dropped. The large vulture like birds scattered as well, apparently unwilling to remain in unfamiliar grounds.. whatever influence that held them, muted.

The zoo keeps, managing to wrench open the doors of the near destroyed van, hurried out of the vehicle, their tranquilizers in greater doses, and different mix, helping subdue the great hybrid beasts. Morpheus clambered to his feet, looming over the collection of people about him, and stooped. With a tense of his form, he slowly disgorged the police officer, who was soaked from ear-to-boot in saliva. Right on his tail, the unconcious figure of the Beastmaster was hoarked up, the dragon hybrid handcuffed promptly.

The sound of heavier vehicles drew the small crowd's attention, small tanks had assembled, with heavier geared officers lining up. They wore a stern look of frustration, most likely for having been called out after the action was done.

Morpheus' form shuddered and began shifting back steadily, releasing the excess mass he'd imitated, he exhuded a thick cloud of steam, body overly warm for several moments. Panting softly, and wiping his lips, the hero smiled to the disgorged officer.

'My appologies. I lost control of myself for a little while there. And devouring you was the only way I could think to get the drop on him. I'm glad you picked up on my plan.' he murmured a little hoarsely, throat aching from having two people traversing it, on top of the roaring he'd been doing.

'That's fine. Just.. try not to make a habbit of it. I think I'll be having a shower for the next week.' grinned the german shepphard gingerly, wiping a thick rivulet of slime from his uniform, hefting the unconscious Beastmaster over his shoulder, making towards another pair of officers.

Turning his attention back to the unconscious superbreeds, Morpheus blinked at the equine zoo keep regarding them.

'..What's going to happen to these three?' He asked uncertainly, frowning.

'..We'll study them a little. And see if there's anyway they can be rehabilitated into the wild, I think. They have the base body structure of Megalohylin, but they look as if they've been cross bred with several other species.. Hopefully they retain an amount of their more placid nature when not under the influence from that Beastmaster..'

'Well, here's to hoping. Take care.' The hero smiled, offering a hand to shake with the equine, before lifting off.. Now that the drama was over, his class was liable to return to college.. He didn't have long to get back to the bus.

Stirring slowly and coming to, Nommz groaned. His head pounded terribly, his body aching.. That's right, that blasted beast had devoured him against his orders.. and then that officer.. Why hadn't he been digested? It should have been swift..!

Sitting up slowly, the hybrid blinked, looking about himself, at the scarce, blank cell. His fur still sticky and damp, covered in an orange suit.. Growling softly, he got to his feet, and padded to the bars of his cell, looking out over the several others he could see opposite him in the hall..

Directly opposite him, a sizeable crocodile stared at him, thickly muscled with tattoos here and there along his scaled hide.

'Nice o' you to join us, fresh meat.' rumbled the croc, leaning on the bars. 'You'll fit in real good around here.' He murmured, toying a hand along his abdomen.

Nommz's eyes narrowed softly, and after a moment, the crocodile paused, and got down to his knees, bowing his head.. The dragonhybrid smirked slowly. Stupid beasts indeed.
