The tryouts

The red dragon walked down the slope to the music building, looking it over in awe. The front wall was made of a bunch of glass windows and a glass window awning stretched over the small from patio. Wow! I can never get enough of this place. Good thing since it's going to be like my second home from now on. HE walked in through the doors of the building and looked around the lobby. Purple blocks were pushed up against the walls and there were other percussionists practicing away. Guilmon was here to try out for the semester's Pride Drum line at NMSU. He walked through the lobby trying not to look at the others. Sometimes one of them would look up and say "Hey" or something and he would just kindly smile and nod. He kept walking down the hall till he got to the percussion studio doors. Someone was in there doing their tryout. He looked at the list tacked on the door and found his name. "Guilmon- 10:30". The name before that was of a human boy he remembered seeing at the summer drums camps. "Andy - 10:15". He turned around and went to go sit in front of the lockers. Two more humans, a guy and a girl, came up and stood in front of the door.

"I wonder how he's doing."

"Sounds good so far... oh wait! He just screwed that lick up. Ope! There's another. But man, he sure has gotten tons better since last year."

"Ha-ha. Yeh he has! That solitary confinement back in his hometown sure did him some good. Oh! Hi Gui... Gui... um... sorry. How do you say your name again?

Guilmon looked up at the girl. "It's Guilmon"

"I'm really sorry. Hi Guilmon. You up after Andy?"

"Looks that way."

"You nervous?"

"Yeh. Kinda."

"Andy gets nervous real easily. I bet he's in there now, shaking like a salt shaker" the guy said, laughing.

"Don't be so mean!" retaliated the girl. To Guilmon they seemed to be good friends with Andy. He really didn't take the time to get to know anyone at the camps. A couple other anthros he knew at the camps made that impossible. He remembered how they had made fun of him while he was introducing himself. He had just barely said his name when one of the wolves in the back of the band room had shouted "FAG!" after he had said his name. The wolf had of course gotten in trouble, but everyone had found out the secret that Guilmon wanted to badly to try and hide. Since then, he hadn't really tried talking to anyone, keeping to himself. But today, someone started talking to him. The duo turned back to look at the list and Guilmon just waited in silence for his turn.

*************************************************************************************

The adults at the front table spoke quietly to one another as Andy mentally prepared himself for his tryout. Second bass, please second bass. He was a short-ish guy, standing only at 5'5", so he wanted to take the second bass drum. It wasn't tiny as the baby bass, and he definitely couldn't try the big daddy bass out. That thing was huge! The directors turned to look at him and nodded.

"Second Bass" said the drum tech

Yes! Andy rejoiced in his head. The metronome was turned on and he took his place behind the second bass drum. He tapped his foot to the beat and took a few seconds to look over the piece of music in front of him. Legato strokes. A simple drum exercise . he counted himself off and started to play. Right-right-right-right-right-right-right-right, left-left-left-left-left-left-left-left, right-right-right-right right-left-right-left-right-left-right-left. He continued down the page, following the stickings and beates almost religiously. Legato strokes, done. Street Beat, done. Show music, done. A few mistakes here and there, but continue without stopping and hopefully they'll love me.

"And what would you like your secondary to be?"

"Cymbals"

"Ok. Thank you." The drum tech said. Andy gathered his stick bag, books, and music, and walked out. He looked at his hands. They were shaking. Why do I always get so nervous? Last year's tryout, my jury, now this year. Craaaap... He stopped at the small studio hallway and took a deep breath. He opened the doors and suddenly found himself in a tight headlock.

"How'd you do?!" a voice demanded

"Mike...Mike... I can't breathe!!!" Andy answered. Mike just laughed and let him go. Andy took a deep exaggerated breath and looked at Mike. "I think I did ok. Wasn't the best."

"Well that could be expected from you." Mike said jokingly

"Quit being so mean! You're a jerk you know that!" said Kristin. "I think you sounded real good Andy. You'll make it!!!"

"Haha. Thanks Kristin." Andy said. The door opened behind him and he jumped out of the way. The drum tech looked at everyone, smiled, then looked at the list on the door.

"Guilmon?"

"Right here." Guilmon said.

"Good luck in there" said the three humans.

"Th-thanks." The red digimon stuttered before disappearing behind the door.

"Poor guy looks so depressed and nervous. He doesn't seem to have any friends." Said Kristin sadly.

"Well after those furs at the drum camp made fun of him for being gay, I wouldn't like to get to know anyone else either. I'd be totally embarrassed. Those jackasses." Said Mike.

"Yeh. That was harsh." Said Andy, thoughtfully. "Weeellllll.... I'm going to go check in so I can put my stuff in my dorm. Get it out of my car."

"Alright! See you later!" said Kristin. She was always a happy kind of person. Mike just nodded and gave Andy a peace sign. Andy walked out of the building and towards Garcia where he would register and get his key. Alright! A dorm to myself for a while. And in RGH! I can't wait to see my room. He thought as he walked to the dorms. He got to Garcia and picked up his key. He had a top floor room, two person, with a community bath. He finally got to the room, opened the door, and looked around his new living space. It was a pretty big room, with two above the floor beds, two desks, and a lot of storage spaces. The closet was pretty small but he didn't think he would need so much room for clothes anyway. Probably just leave some in C's dorm when she gets here. He started carting stuff back and forth from his car to the room, not arranging anything just yet. I'll do it later. I'm in no rush to clean up if I won't be having a roommate for another week. Or so he thought.

*************************************************************************************

Guilmon was shaking nervously as he played his audition. They put him on third bass, middle bass, which seemed to have just as much playing as first or last bass did. Why! Why! I'm totally going to screw this up. He though. He finished the music and looked at the directors. They talked in hushed tones and then said "Thank you." No alternate? They didn't ask me for an alternate? Guilmon started to panic. He gathered his belongings and just left. He walked as fast as he could. Just go get my dorm and be alone for a while. Just alone. He could feel the tears start to well up. He wiped his eyes and quickly made his way up to Garcia to get his key. He signed his name on the papers and got his key.

"Second floor on the Rhodes side" said the lady at the desk.

"Thanks" Guilmon responded quietly

He hurried to the building and made his way up the stairs. He looked for his room number and found it. He opened up the door just as more tears started to appear.

*************************************************************************************

Andy was lying on his bed playing with his iPod when the door suddenly opened. He looked up in surprise to see a teary-eyed Guilmon standing there with a shocked expression on his face. They both just stared at each other for a minute, until a tear did fall down Guilmon's cheek.

"Are.... Are you alright?" asked Andy. Guilmon just kept staring. He finally wiped the tear away.

"Yeh I'm fine." He replied shakily. He just looked down and walked over to the other bed, setting his stuff down on it, and then climbing up on top of it. They both just sat there for a while until Guilmon finally laid down and turned away from the human.

"That tryout was really hard. The music is way harder than it was last year" Andy tried to make small talk. He looked down at the ground, the realization of now having a roommate so he could no longer leave the mess there. He slid off his bed and started to pick up. The silence was killing him. Did it really go that badly? Or is it because... The human looked up at the digimon. Nothing. Not even the slightest bit of movement. I guess I should just leave him alone. He took a piece of paper out of a folder, wrote down his number, and left it on a desk. "I'm going to step out. You look like you need some time alone. Sorry about the mess. And my number is here if you need anything" he said. He gave one last look over the sad lizard, sighed, and walked out. He suddenly realized that he had forgotten his keys. He turned around to stop the door from closing, but he was a little too late. *thud* Crap! Andy stood there and thought. I don't want to bother him. But I won't be able to get back into the room if I don't get my keys. His phone rang, telling him he got a text. 'Wanna go to DG's?' from Mike Cyms. 'Sure' he texted back. He looked at the door again and walked off. I'll see him later on tonight anyway.

*************************************************************************************

Guilmon lay there, staring at the wall. I screwed up my try out. Now I screwed up a friendship. He sat up and looked at the desk. Sitting there was a paper with Andy's number. And Andy's keys. Uh-oh. He forgot his keys. Should I take them to him? No. He's probably with his friends. *sigh* Guilmon sat and looked around the room. His stomach grumbled. I haven't had anything to eat. I saw some restaurants across the street from the music building. I'll go buy something there. He slid off his bed and grabbed his keys. He looked at Andy's number and keys. I'll just put his number into my phone just in case. And I'll take these too. He walked down the I-mall, thinking about the human that was now his roommate. He's cute. Kinda short, skinny, but cute. A slight blush crept over his face, causing his cheeks to turn a bit pink. No! Don't think like that! I'm sure he still remembers about you... but don't do anything to drive him away. Plus, how can I like someone when I've just met them. I didn't really even meet him! I just... ignored him. He could feel his face get hot with anger directed toward himself. _ I ignored him. I probably made him feel bad. He's never going to like me now._ He kept staring at the floor and walked on towards the restaurant.

*************************************************************************************

The group of percussionists walked out of DG's Deli and started towards the music building. It was 12:30 and camp started at 1. Andy was talking to Kristin and Mike about how Guilmon came into the dorm.

"He seemed really depressed. And I couldn't find out if it was because of the try-out or because of..."

"Because of what, kid? The fact that he's a fuckin fag that'll probably end up rapin your ass if you don't get out of there." It was Nick, the wolf. The very same wolf that ridiculed Guilmon at the summer camp. Andy looked up at him and glared. "Ooooooh scawey! The wittle human wants to kick my ass!" the wolf taunted. Mike stood in front of Andy.

"You wanna go, doggy!"

"No Mike!" warned Kristin. "Don't waste your time on these thugs."

"That's right little humans. Just run away with your head low. Just like that fruit." The wolf and his buddies laugh. The three humans just walk a bit faster.

"We have to find Guilmon and show him that we're going to be his friends. These guys are probably the whole reason he's so afraid of making friends. Poor guy." Kristin said.

"well then let's hurry up and get to the music building. I bet he's going to be there soon. Plus, I want to know what I got." Andy said

"Yeh! Me too man!"

*************************************************************************************

The whole section gathered in the band room. The two directors, the percussion instructor, and the three drum techs were all lined up at the front of the room. Guilmon sat in the back of the band room looking at the floor. He had walked in just as the instructors were about to make the announcement of who was going to be on what instrument.

"On the snare line: Angie, Kristin, Mike..." he called off names on by one, and small cheers could be heard from all around the room. "On the bass line: Andrew, Andy, Guilmon..." at the sound of their names, they both looked up on shock at the instructors. A smile crept over Andy's face as Mike put him in a chokehold again.

"Way to go, bro! you're a big kid now!" Mike sang to the tune of the Pamper's commercial. Andy just laughed and looked at the back of the room at Guilmon. His head was down again, eyes staring at a single spot on the floor.

I made it... Guilmon thought. It was unbelievable. He had actually made it into the bass line. Now he could stop worrying about it. Andy made it too. I'll get to be close to him. I'm be the bass drum right behind him. But... what if he's mad at me? About earlier. What if he doesn't like me? Guilmon's head sank lower.

The rest of the list was called off and they drum line was sent to go get their drums and then head outside to start learning the warm-up exercises. Guilmon waited a bit before going into the studio for his drum. Andy was the first bass drum out.

"We have to adjust your harnesses first so just chill outside" said Beaver, the bass drum section leader.

"Fo Sho." That was Nathan, fifth bass. Mainly because he was the only guy big enough to hold it. The bass drums met outside underneath a little grove of trees behind the music building.

"Okay. So we're just gonna chill out, get your harnesses all sized up, and kinda have some section bonding time. Then we'll pick up and start learning the music" said Beaver. The five guys put their drums down. "Mine and Nate's are already adjusted to us since we used the same ones last year. So next is JJ." JJ was fourth bass. He was smaller than Andy, both height-wise and he was quite a bit skinnier, having a runners body. But he was strong. A member of the football team back in his old high school and having played bass before. He used to have a bad back but a quick trip to the chiropractor fixed that up nicely. Andy sat down on the grass in front of his drum. Guilmon and Nate quickly followed suit.

"So we should all introduce ourselves again, kinda get to know each other better. Give a little bit of background like where you're from, school, and what you used to play. You know, just little tidbits about your playing life" said Nathan, trying to break the ice. "We'll start with... Andy."

"Well... I'm from Alamogordo, I used to play cymbals, and for a semester I was in colorguard" said Andy.

"Colorguard! What the heck drove you crazy enough to do that!" said a very surprised Beaver.

In unison, Andy and JJ said "Jeff."

"He was the worst section leader ever. He's childish, stupid, a total prick, and I could go on with insults. Kinda glad he made cymbals. Shows him right. And I'm really glad that I didn't fail badly enough to make cymbals or I would be stuck with him."

"Wow. He must be a really big douche if you would go to colorguard just like that. I was almost willing to be nice to him" said Nate, surprised by Andy's answer. Andy never really talked much to anyone outside his subsection, so Nate was never able to find out how he acted around certain people. Nate turned to look at Guilmon. "Alright, so we heard from the flagget there, your turn."

"Aw shut up Nate," retaliated Andy, trying to sound tough even though he was blushing. Guilmon chuckled. The others just laughed.

"Well I'm from a Japanese high school. My dad got transferred to White Sands Missile Range along with some others. The other anthros that are here are from my high school back in Japan. Their parents got transferred over too. Back in Japan, I played pit, cymbals, and bass drum." He was starting to gain some confidence. He glanced over at Andy and saw the human smiling at him. This made him blush and pick at the ground.

"And not only that, but he was also the biggest loser in school." The wolf came up behind the subsection and his cronies started laughing. The three of them had placed as cymbals, mainly because of their haughty attitude and the fact that they just weren't all that great at playing anything else. The rest of the cymbal section joined them. "Isn't that right, just a fruity little loser. Very antisocial, not really into making friends." Andy stood up, glaring at the wolf. "Oh! What's this! So I heard about you being a little flag girl. Was the drum line too much for you? And now your only option is drum line, since you're a percussion major."

"Nope. Not at all. Drum line is no problem. The thing that was a problem was the douche bag of a section leader that year that I didn't want to put up with." Andy switched his glare from the wolf to Jeff. The wolf laughed, his cronies and Jeff copying.

"Ha-ha riiiight. You're probably just another fag like that one" he pointed at Guilmon, who was staring at the ground in embarrassment. A low growl of anger escaped the human's throat. "Oooooooooo" he mocked, "someone's getting angry. Listen you useless bag of meat. I wouldn't try acting so tough. You're gonna end up getting hurt. Then you can go off and cry to your boyfriend there and ya'll can go have yourselves a nasty little fuckfest." The tone of ridicule gone out of his voice, replaced by annoyance at the defiance of the human standing in front of him. "Now sit back down before I punch your lights out."

Guilmon looked up at Andy, hoping that he would just sit down and escape the angry wrath of the fists he had encountered so many times himself. Please, please just sit down. I don't want to see you get hurt. He looked at Andy's hands. They were shaking. One was balled up in a fist, and the other was curled into a claw-like position. He watched as he took a small step forward with one foot, as he hooked his hands together, and raise his arms. He watched as Andy pushed forward with all his body and as the boy's elbow connected with the wolf's midsection. The wolf's eyes got wide with shock and confusion. He had taken the first blow, instead of giving it. This had never happened before. He crumpled to the ground holding his stomach and struggling to breathe.

"Whoa." Nate was the first to comment. Guilmon just stared in shock at the boy. Why did he do that?

"You little asshole." The wolf slowly stood up, still holding his gut. He was breathing heavily from the lack of breath the blow gave him. He opened his mouth to say something, and then closed it. He repeated this action a few more times. "This band is totally not worth it. I quit" he finally said. He stood upright and walked away, towards the instructors.

"Well good riddance. We didn't need someone like that in the section anyway. So what do you guys want?" Nate asked the cymbal section. They all looked at him, muttered something about "never mind" and walked back to their practicing area. Beaver finished adjusting JJ's harness and moved on. The section stayed quiet for the rest of sectional.

*************************************************************************************

When the drum line regrouped, the drum tech had some bad news.

"We lost a cymbal, meaning there are only 5 again this year." Everyone just said 'awww' and the group moved on, working on the exercises and getting their music handed out to them. At 5 in the evening, they were allowed to go. Everyone headed back to their place of residence to have dinner, shower, and hang out or sleep or whatever they decided to do. Guilmon, Andy, Nate, and a few others walked in a group towards the dorms. In that group were the other two anthros. They apologized for being jerks and that they were just doing it because they had been in his little posse for a long time. It had been natural to them. Guilmon and Andy just shrugged it off. Then Nate started talking about how cool Andy was for "Showing that bully who's boss!" the group laughed and when they arrived to RHG, the two roommates parted ways with them. They walked in silence up to their shared room. Andy opened the door and let Guilmon through first. When the door closed, he leaned against it and let out a big breath.

"What a day" he said, exhausted. The drums were heavier than the cymbals he was so used to using the season before. It was something he would have to get used to quick. Once the rest of the band showed up, it would be some serious marching and playing, getting the show ready for the first football game of the year. Guilmon climbed up to his bed and got out his computer. Andy walked to his bed and did the same. Guilmon looked over at Andy, studying him. What would drive him to do that? Was it because that jerk called him gay? Or because... he was making fun of me? Guilmon shook his head. Your hopes are getting to high, Gui. Just stop before you come crashing back down. Andy looked over at Guilmon.

"You okay?" he asked.

"Um... yeh. I'm fine"

"Oh... ok." Andy looked back down at his computer. A new friend request on facebook. From who? Oh! It's Guilmon! Add. A little notification popped up on Guilmon's facebook, alerting him that his friend request to Andy had been accepted. A little messenger window popped up in the bottom

'HI! ^^' - from Andy. Guilmon looked up to see the human smiling at him. Guilmon returned the boy's smile with a shy sheepish one of his own. 'How was your day?!' Guilmon looked at the screen. Is this some kind of joke? 'it was okay I guess.' He looked over at Andy, who had begun to play a game on his computer. You could hear the constant deaths he seemed to be having. Now's the time to ask. Do it now! 'why did you do that?' The sound of death paused. Guilmon looked out of the corners of his eyes as the human read the question. Andy's smile had vanished, and was replaced with a look of... peace? The human looked up at the digimon

"Because, well... I didn't like how they were talking about you. It really, kinda, pissed me off. And that they just decided to call me gay just because I was in colorguard. It's being stereotypical. And just so you know, when I set my mind to making a friend, I promise myself to protect them. If they ever need to talk, a shoulder to cry on, someone to rant to, I'll try my best to be there. If they want to try and make fun of them, I'll kick some ass. It's just my nature. Probably because I kinda have a fear of being alone." Andy fell silent, staring blankly at the computer screen.

Friend? He sees me as one of his friends? Guilmon studied the boy again. This human, whom he had just barely met today, wanted to be friends with him. As the wolf had said earlier, he was a bit antisocial. He didn't have many friends. None actually. Just a lot of acquaintances. None he really ever wanted to hang out with though. He was a loner. But now. Now maybe he could finally open up and start making friends.

"Thanks" Guilmon said, looking back down. Andy looked back up at him. Should I tell him? If he knows that I really am gay too, maybe we could... but if he doesn't have any feelings for me... maybe keeping quiet would be best. Andy looked down at his computer. A funny little jingle came up from it. It was his Skype, telling him that his friends were calling him. He pressed the 'Answer' button and a voice came up.

"HI Andy!!!" It was his friend, C, and her twin sister Sue. They looked nothing alike and didn't act the same. But they were his best friends and he liked the differences.

"Hey! Guess what!!! I made second bass!!!" the girls cheered for him.

"Congrats!!! So how do you like the dorm?!"

"It's great! Remind me of last year, being over here all the time. Now I won't have to go back to that stupid RV. I actually have a nice place to stay without worrying about being flooded or blowing up or dying of freezing."

"Whoot! Hurray for you! You got a roommate yet?"

"Yeh! His name is, get this, Guilmon!!!" A gasp came through the computer's speakers.

"Put him on the microphone!!! Better yet! PUT HIM ON THE WEBCAM!!!" Andy looked up at Guilmon, who was blushing a deep red.

"I can't. He's um... in his sleepwear."

"Ooooooh!!! So does he know?"

"Know?"

"Yeh! Does he?"

"Um..."

"You can't be serious!!! So you're in a room with this guy, and he doesn't know!!! Are you going to tell him? And I don't care if he's in his sleepwear. I just wanna see a Guilmon!!!"

"Well..."

"Come one. Tell him to like cover himself with a blanket or something." Andy looks up at the red digimon. Guilmon is giving him a quizzical look. Now it's Andy's turn to blush. "Oooooh!!! Andy's blushing. He's checkin the other guy out! You know he is!"

"You be quiet! And fine, you get to see him then." Andy turned the computer so the camera was facing the digimon.

"OMG!!! That is sooooo cool!!!! I'm jealous!!! Wait... this means I get to meet him when I go up there! And since he's already there, he must be in the drum line huh?!" Andy turned the computer back towards himself.

"Yup! Third bass. He's really good too."

"Well then I guess I'll let you guys go. You got band camp in the morning and you should get some rest so you can lift that heavy thing."

"Yeh, camp starts at 9 tomorrow morning and I need to eat something before I pass out. I'll probably head over to taco bell or something and get that frikin amazing five layer burrito and a taco."

"All right. Night Andy!"

"Night C!" The call was ended. For a while, both boys sat there, looking out into space. Andy was the first to look up. "You wanna go to Taco Bell?"

"Sure." The two boys headed out.

*************************************************************************************

Andy drove his little '99 Saturn. He had gotten into a wreck the year before and the car still had its battle scar. A white panel at the front right side of the car. Guilmon laughed when he saw it, and the messed up door that was misaligned.

"You sure I won't fall out while you drive?"

"Oh yeh. It's perfectly safe. It still closes and locks. It's just a little banged up and has a slight misalignment."

"Okay, I'll trust you." The whole ride, Guilmon kept looking up through the little hole that was made by the misalignment of the door. It whistled a little as the wind rushed past. They ordered from the drive thru so they could go back to the dorm to eat.

When they got back, Andy sat down on the ground and opened his meal bag. He had ordered two five layer burritos and a large Baja Blast with no ice. Guilmon had gotten a nachos bell grande with a sierra mist. They both ate in silence for a while until Guilmon broke it.

"What was C talking about?"Andy stopped chewing and looked at Guilmon.

*gulp* "Wh-what do you mean?"

"The whole, 'you didn't tell him!' thing."

"Um..." Andy looked down at his burrito. He took a large bite of it, filling his mouth with hot meat and cheese. "Mmph mmmph mmph" Guilmon laughed.

"What was that?"

"Um....." he was about to take another bite when Guilmon came over and stopped his hand. They looked into each other's eyes.

"You don't have to say it out loud. I can already guess." Andy started to blush. Guilmon went back to his food.

"Sorry."

"About what?"

"About not being honest with you. I should have told you. I mean, I already knew about you. It wasn't very fair of me." Guilmon just chuckled again.

"It's ok." He smiled warmly at the human. The first real smile Andy had seen on him. Wow! He has a really nice smile. They both continued to eat. "I hope it's not too personal, but, um..., have you... ever been with... anyone?" Andy looked up from his burrito.

"Well... with a few girls, yeh. But they didn't last long. I ended up being... uninterested. Never been with a guy before though."

"Me neither. Never been with anyone at all. Like that wolf said I was a loner. Didn't really have friends." They both fell silent. They knew that the question was swimming on the very tips of their tongues. But who was going to ask first? Who was going to take the initiative? Guilmon looked back up at Andy. Out of the corner of his eye he could see the clock that Andy had brought with him for the dorm. 10:30. How time flies. "We should get to sleep. We have a busy day tomorrow."

"Right" Andy agreed, finishing what was left of his food. He put his soda in the little mini fridge and got a pair of basketball shorts and a t-shirt out of one of his drawers. He turned to see what Guilmon was doing and immediately turned away, embarrassed. OMG! He's changing... Don't look, don't look! He regathered himself and began to change also, rather quickly. He threw his clothes into the clothes hamper and climbed up to the bed. He logged his computer off and saw Guilmon doing the same. He slid back down and put his laptop on his desk. "You want me to put your over here too?"

"Yeh, thanks" Andy walked over and reached out for the laptop. Their hands touched. Guilmon gasped and let go of the laptop, and Andy saved it from falling to the floor. "Whoa... thanks again."

"No prob" He put the laptop on the desk and walked over to the light switch and turned it off. It's now or never. I know that we're both too scared to ask, but it's on both our minds. Just do it! "Guilmon?"

"Yeh?"

"Can we... be..... together?" Silence in the darkness. Andy waited for a while, quietly sighed, and started to walk slowly to his bed. He heard a noise come from Guilmon's bed and looked over. He could see the silhouette of the red lizard slid off the bed and walk slowly towards him with his arms stretched. His foot bumped into one of Andy's shoes and he stumbled, only to fall into Andy. Guilmon's muzzle touched Andy's nose. They both gasped in surprise and each took a step back. Silence.

"Do you... want to come sleep with me?" Guilmon asked quietly. Andy looked up, right into Guilmon's bright yellow eyes.

"S-sure." He stammered. The both walked towards Guilmon's bed. When Andy got close to it, Guilmon put his arms around the smaller human. Andy turned towards the digimon. He slowly brought his arms up and returned the embrace. They stood there for what felt like hours, but of course, in reality it was only a few seconds. Guilmon lifted the boy up and put him on the bed. He then hoisted himself up they both sat there with their feet dangling in the air for a while. Is this really happening? Andy moved back against the wall and turned his body to lie across the bed. Guilmon followed suit and they lay next to each other. Andy turned towards the wall to sleep on his side. Now it was Guilmon's turn to gain a bit of courage. He turned to face the same way and slowly slid his arms around Andy. Andy's body stiffened a little but then relaxed. Feeling this, Guilmon pulled Andy closer to his body until they were as close a physically possible. Guilmon's warm breath came over Andy's ear in soft waves. Slowly, they fell into a deep, comforting sleep.
