-PREVIOUSLY ON DRAGON STORM-
" But... recently I started to think that maybe I can't match up with a real genius... wondering if hard work pays off... I wanted to find out, and I challenged Shadow to a fight many times, but the outcome has always been the same. I am so weak! I am useless! I can't go on much longer suffering like this!!" Shayde cried his heart out and began to twitch a little.
"Hm? Son, stop talking like that..." Kibroy said.
" I-I can't help it... my legs ... they still shake whenever anyone is around! I am such an introvert that no one likes me any more! I think... that no matter how much I try, I can't become any stronger! And you know what... I-I-I... am scared of that... what should I do?" Shayde cried his heart out more.
"There is no point in working hard if you do not believe in yourself!" Kibroy said and picked his son off the ground and walked him to the swing and began pushing Shayde gently while on the swing.
" Shayde, you said that no one likes you because you're an introvert... your wrong. Kazeron has told me many times how he would have regretted not training you. He really does enjoy training you and just being around you... and you know what... so does mom and me too! I know how you feel, son... and to be honest with you... I was a dropout when I was about your age too." Kibroy explained.
"Huh? You dad!?" Shayde asked in shock as he stared off into the stars shinning brightly.
"Yup. Heh, and look where I am today! I am a happy father with a nice family and I even became a sword master! It's all because I worked hard and believed in myself while doing so! Even if you can't use any fancy tracks or powers... you still want to prove that you can still become a sword master, right? I like that determination in you son! That's what your reason for fighting against all your suffering is! Hehe... you're a good boy Shayde! It's a good goal worth working hard for. Please Shayde... become a strong canine... so that I can smile proudly when I watch you!" Kibroy said while smiling.
"Dad!" Shayde jumped off the swing and leaped into his dad's arms to embrace him into a warm hug.
- - - - (Flash forward: Dragon Talon Island: Grassy waves prairie) - - - - -
"Yun!" Shayde stood up and smirked while wiping a tear away.
" What is it? Have you finally given up, pup?" Yun asked while rolling his eyes.
" Earlier you said that I couldn't win because I don't have anything to fight for. I did not know that you needed a reason to fight, but now I understand. I have a dream and I won't let anything or anyone stand in my way of obtaining that dream!" Shayde said firmly and suddenly geysers of lava shot out from the grassy ground.
" What the hell? Now what's happening? Lava?" Yun shouted in fear and took a step back.
"It's over... Yun!" Shayde said calmly and watched as one geyser after another proceeded to explode from the ground and shoot upward.

CHAPTER 33: Rio's Counterattack: Never Give In!

Rio was now bleeding heavily from his gunshot wounds on his shoulder thanks to general Andal. The waves of the ocean were still slashing rapidly against the docks and now the sun was beginning to set, leaving behind an amazing mixture of colors in the sky. Such as dark blue, purple, orange and pink. Although Rio hated the color pink from the bottom of his heart, he ignored it. The setting-sun also made the water glisten around the docks making them glow brightly. The pain coming from Rio's shoulder hurt like crazy, it felt like the pain of a thousand knifes, however Rio endured it and spoke up.
" Andal..." Rio said still recovering from the gunshot.
"Heh, what's wrong Rio? I have been waiting for you to show up! And this is how you act?" General Andal said while laughing.
"Andal! Y-You have got to wake up!" Rio said while trying to focus his fuzzy vision due to the blood loss.
"Huh? I am wide-awake Rio! I'm more then awake enough to beat you into a pulp!" General Andal said while smiling evilly.
"It's no use..." Rio muttered to himself.
"Hah! Rio! You can't run away from this battle or me! A battle with our very lives on the line, fighting until our last breaths!" General Andal said while taking aim at Rio again.
" Ben, you have got to do something or Rio is going to die!" May shouted toward the lone griffin soldier.
"Hey,hey,hey! I never said you could call me out like that May! Besides, what can I do? I just follow my orders!" Ben said.
"The only way Rio will win is if he tosses his usual "friendship" sentimentality garbage aside, and just fights General Andal, however with May's life on the line as well, this is one match up that may be too much for Rio to handle...Now what'll you do, Rio?" Ben thought to himself.
"Huh? Is that you, Ben?" Rio asked.
- - - - - - - - - - - - (Flashback: An earlier event) - - - - - - - - - - - - -
With that said the griffin took aim and opened fire yet again. The sound of bullets blasted over Rio and Yuns verbal conflict. It was so loud it got Rio and Yuns attention. Just then Amy barked and howled as the bullets headed right toward them all. Rio dodged the incoming bullets as Yun performed some fancy sword attack to deflect them away. Just then more griffin soldiers entered the room from two more entryways. At least fourteen entered from the south where Rio and Amy just came from and eighteen more from the north where Rio and Amy were headed.
"Freeze! Don't move intruders!!" The 11th griffin said.
"Oh hey Ben!! You still want to go to the movie with me Friday night?" Griffin forty asked.
"I sure do Shela!" The second griffin yelled back.
"You do realize you are doomed right?" Yun said calmly.
"No I'm not! I'm a badass fighter! I can take them all!!" Rio said.
"No one is allowed to be more of a bad ass then me! I purpose a test to see who can kill the most!" Yun said.
"Your on!" Rio said.
- - - - (Flash forward: Dragon Talon Island: Docks) - - - - -
"You remember me?" Ben asked in shock.
"Yes. I only remember you vaguely, but that is good enough." Rio said.
" Are you guys done?" General Andal asked impatiently.
" Andal, please listen to me! I want to fight you with everything I have from the bottom of my heart! But as True fighters! With our Pride on the line!

"You killed him?!" The female griffin said.
"That's enough May!! I order you to get a hold of your self! Caring about the enemy....how disgraceful. "
"Sorry...father your right!" May said.
"General Andal! I know it's not my place to say this, but maybe you should treat your daughter better. After all she has the best "G.O.N." I've ever seen. " War Wolf said.
"If I were you I would not say another word!" General Andal said.
"It's too late! Not even I can heal death itself!" May said.
"Just leave it alone War Wolf he won't listen to you anyway." Cross Wing.
"Wild Horn......why....did you........kill......him?" Tiger Wanghu said out of breath.
"..............................." Wild Horn ignored him, but kept his stance and looked down at Rio.
"Who cares? Your just like my stupid daughter, You care about the enemy!! Wasn't it him who killed Thunder Pegasus? Wasn't it him who set the pseudo-chimera on the loose? Wasn't it him who killed nearly 300 of my griffin soldiers?" General Andal said loudly.
"Not to mention he set free all the experimental creatures and animals. Now our project is delayed even more so." Cross Wing said.
" Do you think they will hand over the ransom as planned?" War Wolf asked.
"....It.....will....be the....end of them.........if they.........don't agree." Tiger Wanghu.
"Don't move, your hurt bad. Let me heal you." May said.
May walks over to tiger Wanghu and sticks her golden feathers out. Suddenly, a bright teal colored light appears from out of nowhere and glows around Tiger Wanghu. It begins to heal all his wounds slowly. Tiger Wanghu felt comforting warmth while in this light. Everyone watched as May proceeded to heal Tiger Wanghu.
" I'm feeling better already.... thanks May!" Tiger Wanghu said.
"Anytime!" May said.
"So does anybody know why Rock Lizard assembled us all here?" Cross Wing asked.
"I would like to know why I had to drag the dragon who is now dead here." Tiger Wanghu said.
"If your not caring about them then you are complaining about them!" General Andal stated.
- - - (Flash forward: Dragon Talon Island: Docks) - - - - -
"Your words touched me Andal! I think the reason why we've gotten this far... was so I could keep that promise with you. I truly believe that." Rio stated.
"Huh? What are you talking about? What promise? When did you make a promise to me? I think your losing to much blood!" General Andal said.
"You are a fool. You said that you didn't understand why anyone could show caring feelings for the enemy... but yet you have gone out of your way to set up this game haven't you? Isn't that caring for the enemy? That means we have something in common now. We both care about the enemy even though we may not show it at times. I tend to show it more then anyone else... also this means we can be friends since we have something in common now! Ever since you said those words I promised myself that I would give you a real battle you would never forget next time we met. That is my promise to you Andal!" Rio stated.
"..............." General Andal remained silent.
"I told you I TRULY believe this. I think that you are just like Ben! You are only following orders, but this battle is a Trap set by Rock Lizard! This isn't the True battle I promised you!" Rio looked up and noticed the timer on top of the giant anchor. Only 40 minutes were left.
"........................" General Andal remained silent again and began to cry once more.
"It looks like that giant anchor up above weights 300 kilograms. That is 600 pounds! If that thing falls then we are both as good as dead! Huh? Is Andal crying... again?" Rio thought.
- - - - - - - - - - - - (Flashback: An earlier event) - - - - - - - - - - - - -
"I fight to protect my friends! That's my dream! I don't know what would motivate me to advance in life without it!" Rio said firmly.
" Well then, I will fight to protect my friends too!" May said.
Rio smiled; he didn't know that he would influence May to build her own dream just like his own. Rio knew that everyone had their own dream to pursue, and sometimes he didn't understand some of them, but he knew what his was, and saw to it that he follow that dream forever. Rio was looking at May when all of a sudden she was shot with a dart.
"Ouch!" May said and plucked it out of her neck.
"A tranquilizer!" Rio shouted.
May passed out just then and before Rio could react to the slowly falling May, her father General Andal swooped her up from the air.
"MAY!!!!!" Rio yelled.
It was no use. General Andal had sped off into the air carrying the passed out May. Looking back once to see a tear fall from his eye and then a slight nod.
"Huh? A tear?" Rio questioned.
"Great! Another shattered promise..." Rio thought to himself.
- - - (Flash forward: Dragon Talon Island: Docks) - - - - -
"This is the second time I have seen you shed a tear Andal... I think you may have been forced into doing allot of what you've done here lately." Rio said.
"Damn! It's a battle where either one of them is going to die! This isn't even a battle anymore!" May thought.
======================= (Elsewhere) ============================
"I'm not so sure what's going on anymore, but suffer more Rio! But this isn't even close to the suffering that my clan and I have suffered from by the hands of Quicksilver! SUFFER MORE AND MORE RIO!!!!" Rock Lizard yelled as he watched Rio's battle on a big screen as it displayed audio and video feedback, Rock Lizard quickly slammed his fist down on the table he was standing next to in rage.
"The program is almost complete... it's only a matter of time before we bring the Chimera Adult project online." Wild Horn stated.
======================= (Meanwhile) ============================
"It looks like I have no choice... I have to use it..." Rio said.
Suddenly, Rio reached into his deep cargo pockets and pulled out four whole clips of ammo. He held two clips in between each finger and tossed them all into the air above Andal and aimed his handgun at them.
"OH NO YOU DON'T!" General Andal yelled and shot off another bullet and hit Rio's second button.
Although now Rio's yellow box point counter displayed 1 instead of 2, he fired off his whole remaining clip of ammo in both his handgun's chamber and magazine.
"STORM WALTZ!!!!" Rio yelled and as his bullets hit each clip in the air, each clip forcefully let out it's own bullet in quick succession. Soon there after, General Andal found himself in the middle of a raining bullet storm with no escape thanks to his own shackle. Rio's bullets proceeded to rain down from the heavens and one-by-one hit everything on Andal's side of the dock. Andal quickly fell to his knees and blocked his middle button from the rain of lead. He cried out in pain as all the bullets crashed into his back and his two side buttons.
"I-I...What? Ack!" General Andal muttered out and then coughed out blood.
"It's over... I have used up all my ammo.... If you can get up from that.... Then you win..." Rio said.
"That's...just.... a smith and Wesson.... Handgun, right? That...means the.... most it can hold is.... about 20 rounds.... I was in a storm of bullets.... that felt more like a thousand..." General Andal said in between breaths.
"That's right. Each one of my clips holds 20 rounds... so the four clips in the air equaled out to 80 rounds.... but that's not all.... The remaining ammo in my handgun's clip and the one that was in the chamber...plus, because it happened so fast, you didn't notice that most of the bullets bounced back several times before landing. In other words... My Storm Waltz attack I just performed now.... You must have at least taken 160 rounds from the attack itself and wounded by at least half of that amount. However... at the cost of me running out of ammo." Rio stated and held his shoulder in pain.
" Nice move... Rio." General Andal said and staggered back up a bloody mess.
"DAD! You look like Swiss cheese! Your cloths are shredded! You're bleeding too much!" May shouted.
"The game is tied now. So it all comes down to this..." Ben said.
"Lazz... what would you do...?" Rio whispered as he stared at Lazz's dog tag that he was still wearing to remember Lazz by.
- - - - - - - - - - - - (Flashback: An earlier event) - - - - - - - - - - - - -
" How could I let War wolf control my mind like that?" Rio asked.
" If you're going to doubt yourself...I'll leave you here." Lazz said.
" Your right!" Rio said.
"Never doubt your self! Just let it make you stronger! Learn something from it!" Lazz said.
- - - (Flash forward: Dragon Talon Island: Docks) - - - - -
"What's.... wrong... Rio?" General Andal asked sarcastically.
"Andal... I just... can't bring your point counter to zero... so, I only want to ask one thing of you..." Rio said as he limbed over toward where Andal was standing.
" Quiet! This... is... where I ... finish you!" General Andal said in pain.
"Andal... please... I know you are being forced into this... you have to do.... What you have to do.... But please.... I don't want my important items to sink into the sea with me...I want you to have them." Rio said and stood beside Andal, watery in the eyes. Rio then proceeded to place all his weapons on Andal and then reached into his shirt.
"What?!" General Andal asked in shock.
"They are important to me... please take good care of them....please...replace me..." Rio said and took off Lazz's dog tag and placed it around Andal's neck.
".........." General Andal remained silent.
"I just wanted you to have my katana, handgun, bow and arrows, and Lazz's dog tag. They mean allot to me and they helped me to get this far. The timer for this sadistic battle will go off in 20 minutes. However... if there is no result by the end of the 20 minutes, then we'll both drown in the sea. I wish there were something I could do to save us both..." Rio said as he walked back over to his side of the dock.
======================= (Elsewhere) ============================
"HAH! Andal you idiot! Take off those annoying items! Rio has even given you any hope he had left of winning over to you! IT MEANS HE HAS ADMITTED HIS LOSS!!!" Rock Lizard yelled in excitement.
"................................." Wild Horn remained silent.
======================= (Meanwhile) ============================
"Heh, how ironic... I never thought I would die on a dock like this.... It reminds me of when I was fire breath training..." Rio said as the wind rushed past him, making his hair and cloths flow in the wind.
- - - - - - - - - - - - (Flashback: Childhood past) - - - - - - - - - - - - -
"Okay here goes nothing!" Young Rio said.
Suddenly Rio inhaled a deep breath and exhaled small embers of fire. He then fell down to the ground in exhaustion. Rio looked up at his dad, Quicksilver. His silver scales that reflected the sunlight made it difficult to look at him without it hurting your eyes. The two of them were standing in their back yard on the dock. It went a little bit out into the lake. The backyards of their neighbors could be seen from here. Quicksilver wanted to teach Rio how to breath fire in case of an emergency. Quicksilver was never home and was only going to be home for a few more days before he would have to go back on active duty.
"Like this son." Quicksilver said then inhaled a deep breath and exhaled a huge silver flame that spewed from his mouth like a flamethrower for more than thirty seconds.
While he was exhaling the silver flame everything around them glew a silvery color and made the water look like it were some kind of liqudifyed metal. Rio's eyes widen he had never seen anything like it before. When Quicksilver finally stopped exhaling the silver flame he was breathing heavy then asked Rio to give it another shot. Rio nodded and walked to the edge of the dock and inhaled a deep breath and exhaled a small blood red flame that lasted for about five seconds. When he was finished he fell to the ground breathing heavy.
"Well that's enough for today son. I see you're not ready for this yet.." Quicksilver said.
Rio watched as his dad walked inside. His words echoed inside his head repeatedly. Rio wanted more then that. He wanted his dad to be proud of the son he had. He did not want to let down the family name. He thought about what he should do to improve his fire breathing skills. He would rather be inside playing Smash Dragons Brawl, but he wanted to prove to his dad he could get the hang of it before he left. Young Rio stood up and inhales another deep breath of air and exhaled another small blood red flame. This process continued until nightfall and the stars could be seen very clearly.
Quicksilver looked at his son covered in burn marks and blood. He was soaking wet and getting everything wet. Quicksilver's eyes widen, he had no idea what has happened to his son but he had to get ready to leave. His black tank top was torn and his baggy jean shorts were dirty and had charred spots on them. His eyes were red and sand bags had formed under them. The way he was holding on to the wall for support just to stand told him that he had not been eating. He was to weak to even stand on his own. Rio then ran out of the room quickly.
"Hey were you out in that thunder storm yesterday? Hey I'm talking to you!" Quicksilver said.
When Quicksilver made it to the backyard he saw Rio standing on the dock waiting for him. When he got to the dock he asked his question.
"What is the meaning of this son?" Quicksilver asked.
"Fire breathing!" Rio said.
"I thought I told you that you were not ready for this yet! Your only nine years old. Most dragons can't do this until they are at least fourteen." Quicksilver said.
"No! I don't want you to teach me, I want you to watch me!" Rio yelled.
Quicksilver was stunned by what young Rio just said. He looked at his high dollar silver watch and then back to his son. He looked at the suffering his son had been through. It was easy to see he had been at this day and night. The water from the lake was overflowing with more water then normal. It was up to their talons even though they were standing on the dock.
"Alright." Quicksilver replied.
With that being said, young Rio turned around to face the clear blue lake. He stared at himself in the reflection of the water and let out a sigh. He was nervous and among other things he was completely exhausted. However he ignored it. He began to inhale a deep breath of air, one that must have lasted more then twenty seconds. Then he finally exhaled the biggest blood red flame the both of them had ever seen. Everything glowed red and the water was red too. Steam could be seen all over the place the backyard quickly became a spa. The heat suddenly rose to about 101 degrees Fahrenheit. The flame was about the size of the lake and lasted about almost one whole minute. When young Rio was finished he fell to the ground in pain then turned his head to see Quicksilver in shock. Suddenly Quicksilver began to walk away on a dry dock due to the water level returning to normal thanks to Rio's display. Water started to form in Rio's eyes because he wanted his father to compliment all his hard work. However young Rio did not cry and instead stood up and watched his walk away a second time. Suddenly Quicksilver stopped walking and spoke.
"I truly am glad you are my son Rio. Don't ever give up. Work hard and soar high!" Quicksilver said with a sniffle and walked inside.
- - (Flash forward: Dragon Talon Island: Docks) - - - - -
"To bad I can't use my fire in this battle... only ten minutes remaining... what can I do...?" Rio asked himself and sighed, still holding his shoulder in pain.
======================= (Meanwhile) ============================
Suddenly, a massive wave of bullets was incoming in on Aisu, and fast. Just then however, Aisu used his Ice G.O.N. to instantly form a giant dragon made of ice. It moved its arm down quickly in front of Aisu so that the wave of bullets was blocked completely. Aisu laughed and then commended his Ice dragon to destroy the small group of griffin soldiers that stood in his path. The giant ice dragon roared and then released ice crystals from its mouth, thus killing them all. Aisu laughed again as his mist G.O.N. warned him of other Quintessence readings of another small group of griffins enroot in attempts to flank him. Aisu simply raised his hand and swayed it toward their direction and thousands of snowflakes had formed a wave of neon light blue flakes of snow that even glittered as they whooshed past him and encircled the small group of griffins and quickly destroyed them all. Aisu laughed once more and then suddenly he stopped and turned around quickly to see someone who he never thought he would get to see. It was none other then the one responsible for his first death.
"And to think I would get to meet you on the battlefield again... Nezbit..." Aisu said firmly.
"Aisu..." Nezbit said while observing the destruction that Aisu just caused.
