Shy is cute (part 8)

We must have cuddled for 10 to 15 minutes, but eventually I let Vic go and sat up.

"Okay" he said, still blushing "I could use your help now"

I got up and offered my hand to pull him up, which he accepted that help. He led me to the one room he hasn't showed me, before opening the door he hesitated, took a deep breath and opened the door. It was a rather large room, pretty well lit too, on one of the low shelves was a strangely shaped hunk of metal and what looked like a three foot diameter round thing that looks almost like a fan blade.

"Is this what you need help with?" I asked, walking up to it.

He nodded.

"What is it?" I asked.

He sighed "how do I explain this..." he paused to think before saying "short answer, a hydroelectric generator"

"What!" I questioned, my jaw dropping "h-how does it work!?"

He blushed, feeling proud that he impressed me. "The turbine turns and spins this shaft, this bit of metal here is part of a pick-up truck engine, the shaft turns in there and generates electricity, but thats still a pretty basic explanation"

"My god..." I said "Your a genius!"

He blushed and turned away a little. "in a way, yes" he said "but I can't tie shoes or read a clock that doesn't have all 12 numbers on it" he looked a little disappointed.

I hugged him from behind "it's okay, I can't handle money, not even simple change and I know hardly anything about anything in this room"

He giggled a little "but we are smart in our own ways" and wiggled free of my hug. "alright" he said "help me lift this onto this little wagon I made" he gave the wagon a kick to point it out to me. The wagon looked like a pretty typical little red wagon, but on second glance I noticed all of the thick metal bars and plates as well as wheelbarrow wheels and not little plastic circles.

He took hold of the end that looked a little lighter and I took the heaver end. We counted to three and lifted it into the wagon.

"Could you pull it?" Vic asked, blushing a little and trying to look cute. Let me tell you, he doesn't have to try very hard.

I nodded with a smile "just as long as you can lead the way"

He smiled and opened the large door leading outside, he excitedly bounced along to lead the way, bouncing of rocks and stumps, it almost looked like a toned down version or parkour...

As we got closer to the river it got louder, I was originally expecting it to be a small stream, but when we got to the riverside I estimated it to be about ten feet wide as well as about a five foot waterfall that Vic made from the dam.

"This is where the water in your cabin came from?" I asked.

He nodded and gestured to the dam "I made this with a bunch of those road dividers for the base and much of the rest is just stones I collected along the riverbed"

"Wow" I said "those road dividers must weigh the better part of a ton, how the hell did you move them?"

This time he smiled "can't tell you" he said.

I saw something move in the water "Hey look at the fish!" I shouted.

Vic turned to look in the small pool at the bottom of the dam "Where Jax?" he asked.

"it hit the surface, I think it was a trout, I think it wants to go upstream" I explained.

"Lets get this in place" he tapped on the turbine.

He already had a place built for the generator, it lead to the pool I saw the trout in, we lifted it in place and the water soon got the turbine turning quickly. "Alright" he said "lets run a wire and than see if it works"

We went back to the cabin, he put a coil of thick wire in the wagon with one end going into the cabin it'self. We made our way back to the dam, taking our time as to not accidentally pull the wire off or something, he never did explain why we had to take it slow, but I didn't mind walking along side him for once instead of one of us taking the lead.

He started on connecting the wires and I sat back to watch.

After a minute or two of work, he said "just about, I'm about to flick the switch" When he hit the switch a little light on a fixture on the generator turned on "That means it's working!" he shouted before excitedly jumping over and giving me a tight hug "thanks for your help"

I hugged him back "no problem" I said and looked up to the large pool that's feeding the turbine "Can we go for a swim?"

He looked where I was looking "not there, that's where our washing and drinking water comes from" he replied "But I know of a place"

He let me go and wiggled out of my arms "follow me please" and he walked along the river, I quickly follow not far behind.

We walked for probably 20 minutes before coming to a big, sandy cove with calm, light blue waters "Wow, what a lovely place"

He smiled "And because of the sand, not much of that weird, green gunk grows here"

"do you mean algae?" I asked.

He nodded with a little chuckle.

"So this is a fine place to swim?" I questioned.

He nodded "But I don't have any swimwear here, and I don't think you do either"

I paused to think before a smile slipped across my muzzle "Wanna go skinny dipping?"
