#1 of Bet Your Life

In a world of different factions where crime is not allowed by ancient laws, everything is settled with wits. Everyone must obey the ten commands. By playing "simple" games, the decisions of the people, the country, and even the world are made.

"The wits of living beings are beginning to dull. Meanwhile the rest of us sharpen our wits through games." Speaks a male voice of an eighteen year old. His gaze resting upon a thirteen year old female who is sitting beside him, both of their gazes turning to the multi-monitor screen ahead of them. They had just won an arena game at half the level of the opponents, and having beat two cheaters who were using infinite resource hacks. This was common anymore as the world had gone from wits to brute force. Crime, murder, and pillaging all allowed until their caught. However, these two siblings detested the world. Suddenly a familiar sound of an email comes through, giving them a startle. It wasn't very often that one had come through, but the males sister speaks up first. Her appearance being around four feet even, and her fur being short. Her ears longer than most her age, and her fur color white. Her eyes a bright blue. Her hands and feet like a humans. Her brother being about six foot with black fur. His hands human like as well as his feet. However, he has soft padding on his feet. His eyes a dazzling emerald green.

"Onii-chan, that sounds like a friend is messaging you."

"I can't tell if that's a poor joke or a good one." Speaks the older brother as he checks it. All it contains is some simple words and a link.

The email now open on the monitor screens, the brother begins to read it silently along with his sister. The message read "Have you ever thought that you were born in the wrong world? Perhaps you would like to live in a world where there is no longer chances, but full of wit and games.". The siblings check over the messages a few more times until they click the link. The only thing to pop up is a chess game. The brother looks at his sister smiling.

"Well sis, it's your turn now. This is your specialty." Speaks the older brother.

"Ok Onii-chan." Is all she replies as she moves to his lap to begin playing, both of them quickly realizing that the other player is not a bot, but rather a living being. She plays for hours upon hours with the other player. Neither of which has a upper hand. However, after twelve hours of playing, they finally come to an end where Lilly, the sister wins. Shadow, the brother smiles and sighs leaning back in the chair. His sister doing the same as she stretches. As they begin to relax the emailer sends another. "Have you ever wanted to go to a world based on games? What if I said it was possible?".

Shadow reads over the message a few times before beginning to type quickly in response. "Anywhere is better than this world. A world based on games is my type of world.". After the message is sent a darkness falls upon the room. The dark being quick to envelope the two siblings and bringing them into the sky before letting go. However, instead of the earth being below them, there is a mysterious fantasy realm. The sun a bright blue, but yet casting a normal light upon the lands. The ground itself lush and green with very little bare spots. Different fantasy styled trees all over the area. A giant white beam of light from the middle of the forest lit as well. However, all the siblings can think of is the fact they are falling from an insane height. Shadow quickly grabbing Lilly and turning his back to the ground. When he flips, he notices someone who looks human falling from above them.

"Welcome to my world! This is Ariadendal. A place of games. This world has no crime of any sort. First you should know the ten commands that everyone must follow. No matter what your body will not allow you to act against them as they are burned into the very essence of your soul. Command 1: You will not harm another living being without their permission. Command 2: You may not steal, pillage, or do any other illegal activities. Command 3: If you are to have a disagreement you may challenge the other party to a game. Command 4: If said party is greater than one, the party will decide on a single player. Command 5: The challenged player decides the game and rules, but are not allowed to make the game uneven. Command 6: Cheating that is caught is an immediate grounds for disqualification. Command 7: All bids that are made must be upheld. Command 8: Bids must be decided as equal by both sides of the game. Command 9: Anything can be bid as long as it meets Command 8's specifications. Command 10: Have fun." Speaks the human looking figure, the ground nearing closer. Suddenly everything stops, or to be more accurate the siblings stop. The human looking figure now standing next to them and looking clearer. Blue hair with silver eyes and a childs size. White robe and red cloth belt. The child smiles before speaking again. "Well, I hope to see you again. Enjoy your time here." And like that, the child is gone.

"Who the hell was that?" Asks Shadow, his eyes darting around as he sits up, still holding his sister.

"They were rather curious Onii-chan." Answers his sister, using the nickname based from a japanese game they had played.

Shadow releases a sigh and rubs his head. He stand stands and brushes off his clothing, his eyes looking around to examine the situation. All around is an assortment of flora, but no fauna. The trees standing higher than even the redwoods. Bushes hiding what lays within the forest. The ground beneath them covered in grass and traces of dirt from the landing. The land looking magnificent. Finally, the siblings eyes draw upon the first living creature. Before them is a dragon who flaps his might wings and takes off knocking Shadow back down onto his rear end.

"Where are we?" Lilly speaks up ever so quietly, her brother turning to face her.

"We're in a real fantasy land. Assuming the ten commands really are truthful and unbroken, we can make quite a living here.

"What do we do now?" She asks in response. Lilly's eyes focusing on her brother who looks all too excited.

"Now we set off to make our living sis. First we will need to find a town to at least acquire some food. I'm a bit famished from our seventy-two hour game session." Shadow responds to the question, his eyes now showing a burning passion for the world. Eager to learn what it has in store for him and his sister.

"What dir-" Before Lilly could finish the question Shadow set her on his shoulders with a quick swoop. He then begins to walk in the general direction of a city he saw whilst falling. Although both of the siblings were confused by their survival from falling so far, they were absolutely sure that it wasn't a dream. The atmosphere feels too real and the worldly needs are all kicking in. While making their way towards the village a group of bandits jump out of the bushes pointing a deck of playing cards towards the brother and sister.

"You two! Play a game with us. If we win, you lose all that you have. If you win, you can have all we have." Speaks up the largest of the three, his eyes focused on the phone in Lilly's hands. Shadow smirks and sets his sister on her feet turning to face the bandit. His signature smirk of his front right fang showing. The bandits were dressed in cloaks, their hoods down. Each bandit a different race. The biggest one that spoke being a furry like the siblings. The smallest and most silent one appearing human. Finally the other one appears as a healthy male with cat ears and a cat tail. A real life Neko.

"You're on. Since I get to pick the game, I suggest a hand of war." Speaks Shadow, his eyes focused on the deck of cards. The bandit nods and they both drop to their sitting positions ready to play. After thoroughly checking all the cards for anything that could give his opponent an upper hand they shuffle the deck and split it. Shadow beginning to count cards from the beginning. Both players take their half of the deck and begin to play. The first rounds being rather uneventful as Shadow withers away his opponents cards. However, midway through Shadow's cards are running low for higher numbers. Both players draw an ace and lay it down. With a smirk Shadow draws his next card. The chances of it being the card he needs one in twelve. His opponent however has just played the last high value card that he could possibly have. Shadow lays down a king to top over the opponents jack. Now having all the aces in his deck the game was over. In the end there was no way for the opponent to win. After continuing on for another thirty minutes the game came down to a one versus an ace.

"Well, guess that means we win. I'll take your clothing now. Of course I will be taking your money as well." Speaks Shadow, and bound by the commands the bandits have to comply. The three of them giving all their property to the fur. Shadow smirks and stands back up as he and his sister put on the cloaks. As they begin to walk away the group speaks up.

"H-Hey you can't just leave us like this!" As they speak Shadow smirks and looks back at them.

"Command number seven, any bet made must be upheld." He replies as him and his sister continue to walk towards the village. After an uninterrupted walk of forty minutes the pair arrive at a tavern on the outskirts of the village. However, they now notice the architecture of the buildings. Instead of a town, it looked more like a fantasy stories capital. In the center a massive palace, and the higher class building towards the middle. Dotting the outskirts is farms and houses of what could be considered the nobles. Shadow's ears lower as he witnesses all the people. He and his sister are rather uncomfortable when it comes to the bigger crowds. Sucking it up he begins to walk towards the tavern. Inside there is many tables, but he is unable to see how many due to the massive crowd all watching a game. The two females playing are dressed extremely elegantly. The one who is obviously losing is in a fancy light blue dress with darker blue earrings. Two rings on here right hand on the forefinger and middle finger. Finally her legs are covered with white panty hose. Her shoes being heels and elegantly blended with the dress. Her hair a scarlet red. Her eyes green like Shadow's.

The other player being a female with black hair, her eyes a violet to match her earrings. Her dressing being less formal as a dark blue shirt skirt combo. Her legs having black panty hose. Her shoes being leather dress shoes that were for more diplomatic situations. The two were playing a simple game of poker. However, with the atmosphere it seemed a lot more important than a normal game. Shadow tries his best to ignore the game as he goes to the tavern owner to purchase food and water. Lilly watches the game with interest. She notices something and it makes Shadow turn to her. With a silent whisper he asks her a question.

"Is she cheating?"

"Yes, but I can't figure out how." Speaks his sister in the same whisper. Shadow watches for a moment until his eyes catch a glow in a hooded figures eye. She was in the corner watching the game in a rather shady way. Shadow begins to walk towards the room leaning down to whisper into the losing girls ear.

"She's cheating."

Just like that the game continues and the siblings end up in their room. The female plays her hand against the cheating opponents, unable to verify she is cheating it makes it impossible to say anything. The cheater winning of course. Back in the room Shadow and Lilly are resting on the bed. It was not unusual for the pair to sleep by each other as they have become dependent on each others company. As Lilly begins to sleep peacefully Shadow hears footsteps coming up the stairs towards the tavern's rooms. A loud knock on their door. With a sigh he gets up and makes his way to the door.

"Yeah? If it's about your clothes you can forget about it." He speaks as he opens the door. However what he sees makes his face turn bright red. The blush strong enough to show through his fur. There was the losing girl completely naked in front of him.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU DO SOMETHING IF YOU KNEW SHE WAS CHEATING?" She hollers out towards him, her eyes showing a rage and yet another hidden feeling. Shadow still taken aback by the clothing situation quickly hands her a cloak.

"I-I couldn't prove she was cheating." He speaks up as she quickly wraps herself in the cloak. She barges into the room and shuts the door behind her. She turns to him and makes a growling noise. Her fur color now more obvious as a silver.

"Although you still would have lost. You were after all showing a lot of incompetence and little knowledge of the game. Perhaps you were the daughter of a fool." Speaks Shadow again, this time the growl gets stronger.

"I challenge you to take that back!" She blurts out in anger, yet quieter than before. Shadow smirks and chuckles.

"Ok, but you have to do something for me if I win. If it's a draw I want a place to stay at least." He says in response. She smirks with an angry brow furrow. She was ready.

"Ok, what game?" She asks.

"Rock paper scissors. I'll only use rock." He says in response to her question. As they get ready she tries to think over everything in her head. If he isn't lying and will only use rock his chances are zero. If he is lying he could try to fool me into paper everytime, in which case he could use scissors to stop me. However, if I use rock I could beat that. But what if his trick is to try and make me use rock so he can use paper. I'll do scissors. As the mysterious lady chooses scissors, Shadow chooses rock just as he said.

"You thought it through, but not enough. Well, I guess that means I get my favor now. I want you to fall in love with me." He says. She blushes heavily and freezes on the spot. His sister having woken and watching.

"You're a perv Onii-chan." Says Lilly.
