#1 of Kemet's Story

First story i have written in third person :)

The wind was warm as it danced across the desert sands. Palms rustled, the hot breeze caressed Kemet's fur, and she sighed. She skipped todays practice, not wanting to deal with the heat, but mostly the stares. Her parents joined the tribe while her older brother, Marek, was just a young kit. They where the first white tigers to join the Draki tribe, a group of nomadic dragon riders. When Kemet was born, the tribe leader, Ankhrael, gifted her with a newly hatched dragon named Ruvik.

Ruvik grumbled and rolled over, soaking up the sun's rays in the hot sand. Kemet chuckled to herself.

"I'm glad someone is enjoying this heat." She told the dragon, who gave a huff making some of the sand dance around his nose. They bonded quite well, like their souls where made to match. She thought she was one of the fortune ones when it came to her dragon companion. There where some that could not bond with their dragon companions and the dragons more often suffered in their cages. She had no problems with any of the dragons at all, many thought it was because she was one of the few who could wield magik. Yet another reason to mistrust or stare at her. Kemet could count on her fingers on how many magik users there where. Kemet looked up to the ever blue sky beyond the dancing leaves of the palm tree, the water from the oasis lapping at the shore was soothing. Kemet skipped practice often, and was always shy when in the camp, well what else could she do? Everyone ment well, but there was still those who whisper's catches her ear and then there was the stare... Kemet could be often found in the dragon's stables, be it wondering the halls, cleaning, or bathing a dragon, but she could almost always be found with Ruvik. Heck she sometimes fell asleep in his stall at night, up against his warm body in the heat of the sand in the stall.

Kemet sighed and sat up. The sun was starting to creast down to the earth, meaning she should get back soon, and be greeted by another lecture from her instructor again. She had been getting them a lot lately, never understanding the constant practice. Kemet was good with the Khatar, a long scythe with a blade on each end, and a master with dragon riding. Granted she could use a lot more work with magik, it is hard on the body and could cause death if used to much without practice. Kemet has blacked out for a week from her first show once, and she was very fortunet that it was the end of the show. A cobra slithered out of the brush to the water for a drink. She smiled at the fact that this little of life can survive the harshness of the world. Kemet stands up and brushes the sand from her fur, watching the cobra flair out its hood at her movement. "Calm yourself, you will not recive any harm from me." She spoke softly, walking away from the oasis towards Ruvik, listening to see if the cobra comes any closer to her.

Hearing her voice, Ruvik sits up and gives a mighty yawn, the chains on his britale clinked together as he shifted. Kemet smiled at the large dragon, the sand hot on her feet but she was use to it. The metallic strings on her skirt chimed together gently as she looked up at Ruvik's head. "Have a nice nap did we?" She said with a giggle, Ruvik leaned down and pressed his snout against his tiger companion. Her sent was familiar and welcoming him to him, but the taint of sorrow lingered on it. Kemet stroked the side of his snout fondly as he pushed her very gently. "I know you know I am sad. I wish to explore the worlds.... But you could never survive without the heat of the desert, so you would not be able to come with me... Perhaps I could go and return back to you via the magik I use. I do not know, maybe there is a scroll or something with the Tome Keeper." Kemet tries to comfort him, but he doesn't seem any different just conserned for her. Placing a kiss on his snout she walks around and gets up on the saddle. "Come Ruvik, we should get back." Kemet says taking up the reins. With a slight shake, clearing off the sand, Ruvik took flight leaving their oasis behind, hoping there was something he could do for his companion to ease her sorrow.
