Hey everyone. For those of you who read this, and like it, please leave a comment. Or hell, draw me a pic of the characters. I love feed back and fan art

"Remember, you're doing this at you're own risk. Anything that happens from here on out is not my fault." The large tiger patted Kai on the back. "Got it?"

"Yes Hanson..." Kai gulped nervously, staring into the shimmering blue portal.

"This journey can only be made once from here. There's no telling what will be on the other side." Hanson said.

"I know... I know..." Kai took a deep breath and walked slowly towards the full length mirror.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Hanson said calmly.

"I'm sure... I have to take this chance... besides... the soldiers will be here soon... if they find me... they'll kill me." He turned around and sighed. "I have a better chance with the unknown."

Hanson nodded. "Good luck."

Kai took one last deep breath and walked through the shimmering blue surface. Instantly it felt like he was being sucked through a tube. It twisted and turned as it continued. All around him he could see stars flying past him, celestial bodies whizzing past at what he could only guess was the speed of light. Then the tube ended, he screamed as he was suddenly dropped from up high. Apparently in the clouds as he plummeted downwards. He couldn't see the ground right away but in a few seconds it was obvious that he was in the sky, a sky, and was going to hit water's surface in about twenty seconds. He couldn't tell if it was shallow or not. As the water got closer he closed his eyes, taking one last breath before everything went black.

***

Kai groaned as he opened his eyes slowly. Everything was blurry and he couldn't move. He was inside though, that much was obvious. It appeared that he was in some sort of cabin. He turned his gaze downwards as everything came into view. His arms and legs were tied down tightly. The room he was in was nicely accommodated. A couple decorative implements on the wall and a few candles on the wall.

He laid his head back down and closed his eyes. "Hey... is anyone there...?"

He could hear a couple scurrying footsteps as he lay there and a few minutes later a door behind him opened. He couldn't look back but he could tell that one, maybe two figures had entered due to the shadows being cast on the wall. "Who's there? Who are you?"

"We were going to ask the same of you, wolf." A figure responded.

The way that was said. 'Wolf'. As if it were some derogatory statement. "I'm... my name is Kai... I took some... thing... and I wound up here..."

"What 'thing' are you talking about?" Another figure chimed.

"A mirror... an old mirror... with a shimmering blue surface on it." He answered calmly. It couldn't hurt to tell the truth given the state he was in. "We, a friend and I, found it in some old sorcerers house. She said it was a traveling mirror, and that due to the age of it, it could only be used once. She didn't know where it led to... she said it was always different. She died before she could tell me any more."

"You're lying!" One of the figures stepped to his side, where Kai was able to get a better look at him. He was a moderately tall fox, yellow in colour, with a decorative headdress. He looked to be in his early thirties, but it was hard to tell. "You're lying! If you had been indeed using a traveling mirror then you would have come through our mirror, and no one has come through in over ten years."

"Look I'm telling the truth! Why would I lie?" Kai turned his head towards the fox, a little irritated with being accused of lying.

"You're here to spy on us! Your kind... you think that you can take away our freedom? Make us your slaves? Well you're wrong! You decided to fake your death to get taken to our camp... to be provided with hospitality. You were only half right. We saved you, yes. We'll give you our hospitality, fine. But you will be OUR slave, you will give US information." The fox glared down at him.

Kai was lying there bewildered. "What do you mean... what the hell are you talking about! What do you mean 'our kind'?"

"Wolves! Don't ask questions! You'll get no answers he-"

"Kairn! Control yourself." The other figure stepped up to him, putting a paw on the fox's shoulder.

Kairn, growled. "What Zeal?"

Zeal, another fox who looked alike in body type but was black in colour, just sighed. "I think our friend here is telling the truth."

Kairn scoffed. "What?! Are you insane? He's just telling us this so he can get information about our clan! So his kind can come in and take us hostage!"

"I don't think he's a Secuutoluna." Zeal looked down at Kai, who was completely lost, and staring back up at him.

"How can you say that! He's obviously a spy! He's just here to get information about us so they can all take us hostage!" Kairn was fuming now, his fists clenched.

"His DNA doesn't match that of the Secuutoluna. It's less complex, he's only a wolf." He crossed his arms and looked at Kairn coldly.

That mildly irritated Kai. 'Only a wolf'? It made him feel greatly belittled. "I'm not a spy! I-"

"Shut up!" Kairn snapped. "Fine. But how does that explain for his appearing above the sea? If he was using a mirror then he would have been found in the dungeons with our mirror!"

"He said himself that the mirror he used was old and in poor condition. If he was traveling from far away, it could have broken during his travel, thus ending his journey. Who knows where he was going to. He could have been traveling somewhere a lot further from here. His mirror probably broke and ended his escapade." Zeal stated simply."

It was easy to tell that Kairn was not at all satisfied with this answer because it made sense. "Any other evidence that he's only a wolf."

There it was again! 'Only a wolf'! Had he half a mind he would have screamed at Kairn for that statement, but he kept his mouth shut.

"His fur. You, more than anyone, should know that all Secuutoluna clan members have pure black fur. His fur is silver. That should have been apparent to you when you first saw him. And before you try to argue!" He continued, seeing Kairn open his muzzle to protest. "I checked his fur for traces or radiation, none were found, and no chemicals that could have altered his outward appearance. He's not a Secuutoluna."

Kairn stood there for a moment before turning around and walking hastily away. he was embarrassed at being proved wrong at something so simple in front of a stranger. Zeal just chuckled and looked down at Kai. "So why are you here? Why did you choose to venture through the portal?"

Kai, who had been relatively quiet until now, looked at Zeal. "I was back on my... world..." He thought it was odd to say, but he knew he was on another planet. "And-"

"What is your planet called?" Zeal interrupted.

"Earth." Kai wondered if this was a good idea saying this, because the fox's eyes went wide.

"You're lying!" Zeal proclaimed, but it looked as if he was more amused then anything else.

"No... I'm telling you the truth..." Kai said slowly.

"So that's where she went!" Zeal laughed and sat on the edge of the bed Kai was strapped to. "Years and years ago we had two mirrors, this was before I was alive..." He stated before continuing. "Then one of the elders in our clan took one of the mirrors and disappeared with her daughter-"

"Leilani!" Kai cut him off, smiling.

"Yes! She was only four when she and her mother disappeared. No one knew where she went to! Earth didn't have a mirror so no one bothered to check there. It was assumed she took it through the second mirror. Apparently not." He chuckled and shook his head.

"Wow... she told me how her mom told her that they came from some distant land to escape her father." Kai smiled, remembering the elderly old fox.

"There were rumors that her father abused her and her mom, and that maybe he had killed them. No one knew for sure." He mused at the idea of Leilani as an elderly fox on earth.

"Anyway... so my friend and I got the mirror from her. Around the same time an official of our country was killed. All the evidence pointed to me. I don't know how. No DNA tests were run, only surveillance. So the guards were coming after me, that's when I figured that I should use the mirror to try and escape. I did, and I ended up here. I thought I was going to die... I was falling from the sky."

"A local fisherman saw you falling and rescued you from the water. He brought you here where we healed your wounds. It is a miracle you survived that, however." He smiled at Kai.

"So can you... untie me?" He asked hopefully.

"Oh! Sorry!" Zeal hopped off the bed and went about, undoing his restraints. "I completely forgot we restrained you. At first thought, we did think you were a Secuutoluna, we had to take precautions."

"It's alright. Would you mind telling me what these Secuutoluna are?" Kai was intrigued by this form of wolves, who supposedly were better than him, seeing as he was 'only a wolf'.

"Has earth not had problems with this clan?" Zeal was taken aback by that comment.

"On earth we are still skeptical about life on other planets other than ours." Kai replied, a little embarrassed.

"Ah, well the Secuutoluna are a clan of specially modified wolves who have been trying to take our clan of foxes as their slaves. They think that our kind would be perfect for genetically modifying so that they could have superior fighters. They can only undergo so much 'enhancing' before it starts to affect their life span. A few years ago they 'enhanced' a captured fox and found that they could undergo three times the modification without decreasing life expectancy. Since then they've wanted to take us hostage."

"Well what's so bad about that?" Kai asked ignorantly.

"When they modify you, you lose you thoughts, your memories, anything that was yours. At least we do. Wolves can undergo the modification without affecting their brain. Foxes are affected mentally, which is another reason they want us. They could easily make us slaves to their will, making us kill those we love, go into battle without hesitation. WE wouldn't be ourselves. It would be horrific." Zeal shuddered at the thought.

"What all happens besides that if you're genetically modified? Like... telekinesis, telepathy, stuff like that?" Kai sat on the edge of the bed watching Zeal carefully.

Zeal chuckled lightly. "Nothing like that. Just increased strength, stamina, speed, and heightened senses. If it wouldn't wipe our memory clean I'd be all for it." Zeal leaned against the wall, rubbing his black forearms. "Anyway, you're more than welcome to stay here. I'll inform the clan here about you, you'll be accepted here." He smiled and headed towards the door.

"So can I leave here? From this room. I mean?" Kai asked standing up.

"Well in actuality this would become your new domicile, and frankly everyone will still be hesitant to be near you. I'll send in one of the clan members with some food." Zeal nodded his goodbye and left the room.

Kai sighed softly and sat down at a table that was in the corner. It was a nice room, he couldn't argue that. It was great to be safe now, and it seemed as if he and Zeal were on good terms. He made his way back to the bed and lay down, closing his eyes and taking a little nap.
