REBIRTH

TRAINING AND A STONE

Ch. 10

Once her howl was over, she didn't say a word. She just took off like a shot and dashed up the stairs to the house above to where she disappeared. I'd tried to catch her when she initially freaked, but she was to strong and easily outmaneuvered me. Leaving both my father and I in a state of shock, but pain in what I'd just done to her.

'How in the world was I supposed to know that their were actual nerves in her mane? It's not like I am an expert on Legendary Pokemon or something.' I thought to myself for a moment then started kicking myself for being so stupid, as even when there wasn't any wind in my room her mane continuously moved around. It had taken me the rest of the day of searching the whole house to actually find her, and when I did find her hiding in my room, I could feel mixed emotions from her. I could feel a great sense of fear, confusion, and a great bit of trust that had been broken between us as I stood outside the door to my room.

With my new abilities I could see within the room to an extent, but it was more like everything was just a vague shadowy outline of itself. So I was able to find out that Suicune was indeed within the room and was cowering under the covers of my bed. It was almost like she was like a kid trying to hide from the monster under the bed. Though part of me just wanted to rush right in there and try and fix everything, I knew that that would only scare her more. 'I lost her trust in me. As my dad once told me, 'Trust is easily lost, and it is twice as hard to regain once it's lost.'

I didn't know how to patch things up with her right then, so I slowly placed my hand on the doorknob and used my psychic abilities to send her my voice. "In a times like this, there are many things that a person can say." I said as a tear rolled down my cheek. "But those words escape me." I turned and looked over my shoulder and looked at the door but I could hear her shaking still under the covers within. "The only thing I can say is, I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you." And with that, I slowly walked away from the door. I didn't hear her stop shivering under the covers or her come to the door.

I felt like a heel, and probably justly so as I walked down the stairs and sat down on the couch holding my head. It didn't matter that my dad had been the one who actually snipped her, I'd been the one to tell her that she'd be alright. It didn't matter now, I'd hurt my new friend and lost a good one at that. She probably come down those stairs in a bit and demand that I release her.

I didn't know how long I stayed down there in the living room playing with my new tutu, but was brought out of my pouting when I heard the sound of feet on the stairs. I turned and looked up expecting to see my father, but was shocked when I saw that it was Suicune. She had her head lowered as if making sure that she wouldn't step wrong on the stairs. She stopped at the landing and sat down on her haunches, took a long sigh, then looked directly at me.

'By the way that your looking at me, you probably think that I hate you Genii, but I do not. It is your father that I hate, for he was the one who actually hurt me.' She said as she slowly walked down the rest of the stairs then over to me.

"But I was the one who said that you'd be ok. I was the one that said that he wouldn't hurt you, and he did." I said as I kept my head down in shame. I then heard her sigh as she walked over and placed a paw on my lap. I looked up at her and saw that she was actually smiling at me.

'You did not know he was going to do that. One thing my mother always taught me, 'before she disappeared' was, 'You are not responsible for what other people do.' A smile slowly spread across her face. 'You were not the one to hurt me, it was your father that did. So do not think that I'm angry with you.' I leapt down from the couch and hugged her across the middle. She did the same with her paw that had been on my lap.

For the next several days the two of us were inseparable. When I was down in the training area, Suicune was down there with me to help me to train. Though when my father would even come anywhere near her, she would instantly be on her feet and growling at him. Instantly ready to either drench him with a high powered Water Gun attack, or another attack of some kind. It was so funny one day as I was training down in the battle area with her on the sidelines, as he'd tried to sneak behind her to get another hair sample and had gotten a face full of a Bubble Beam attack, which left him absolutely soaked to the bone. When I turned and saw the end result of the attack, it left me in stitches as he looked like a drowned rat with a soaked cloth hanging off it's/his body.

We were even inseperable when it came to taking our showers together. It was always fun when we did take a shower, as I would use my psychic abilities to help wash her back, but while I was up there she would use her tails to tickle me. Eventually the tickling would be to much and I would fall onto her back then proceeded to return the playful action. The showers always ended with us laughing or the whole bathroom dripping from our thrashing around. Then when we went to bed, the two of us would curl up together under the covers and pass into such a deep sleep together that I don't even think that an earthquake could wake us.

Time seemed to pass pretty quickly back then, as training and everything else was made that much easier with her on the sidelines cheering me on. I got to the point that when my father had me battle other Pokemon, he'd have to use final evolutions to even stand a chance against my psychic abilities.

I'd been training/battling for he most of the day and was finally winding down my days activities when my father came down. It was Suicune who alerted me to his presence as she met him with her usual growl. "I guess she still hasn't gotten over the whole thing with the scissors." He said as he took the last step and then jumped away from her, and onto the battle floor.

I lifted another concrete block into the air and set it down on the column that I'd started with the rest. (Oh, come on. Do you really think that after all this time that I'd still be training with those feather weighted balls?) After the block was aligned with the rest to make it looked entirely like a tall box with strait sides, did I finally turn and sigh to him. "As I told you, dad. You're the one who hurt her, and not once I might add." I said to him as I walked over to Suicune and she handed me a cup of water with her tails. 'She getting good at grabbing things with those tails of hers.' I thought as I also remember how she used those tails to do other things as well.

"And I said that I was sorry for that. How was I supposed to know that her mane actually contained nerves." Of course he didn't say nerves, he said something scientific but I really wasn't listening to him at that point.

'Just some other excuse to try and get Suicune to let him get at her fur.' I thought as I walked over to the sink and refilled the glass, to take another long drink, though I hardly needed it as lifting those concrete blocks hardly had me sweating. After the drink I slowly placed the cup back down on the sink's edge and turned to face him. "So, what brings you down here dad?"

"Strait to the point I see." He said as he straitened up and walked about the room while rubbing his chin with his right hand, then stopped at the concrete column. "Seeing as you are now able to, 'quite easily' move those concrete blocks around now. I thought it was about time to move on to something else." He said as he looked over his left shoulder at me, while his left hand went into his pocket.

I knew what was coming. That was the pocket that he kept the remote for the door that had the Pokemon that I was to battle in. 'Another battle, but why? I've already worked up to being able to take on nearly every type he's caught so far. Has he gone out and captured a new Pokemon for me to battle?' "So what's it going to be this time dad? That Ratticate, Pidgit, or Arbok of yours." I asked him in a uncaring tone as I'd thought I'd left them pretty beaten up the last time that they wouldn't put up much of a fight so quick.

"What?" He looked down and saw that I was pointing to the pocket that he had his hand in.

"That's the pocket that you keep the remote to open the door for my opponents." I told him as I turned and pointed to the door at the far end of the room.

He smiled, then turned and faced me. "It seems that I can't pull the Mareeps wool over your eyes, but then again..." He took his hand out of his pocket and showed me a small black jewelry box. I looked down at the box then back up at him in wonder. "Since you've beaten all of my Pokemon and have completed all the training that I can put you through here. I thought it was about time to grant your final wish, Genii."

My eyes went wide in shock. "You mean."

His eyes seemed to sparkle as a large grin spread across his face. He didn't answer me as he slowly opened the box and within the box was... "Congratulations son. You've just received your very own, Dawn Stone."
