I laid on the bed, slowly waking up and rubbing the sleep from my eyes. As I slowly open my eyes to look around I see Narei, laying there sleeping peacefully... I leant over to kiss him softly on the side of the muzzle and he opened one of his eyes and looked at my whilst I did. I retreated from giving the kiss and noticed him staring at me, I looked at him... and whispered "I love you". He turned around, laying on his side to face me and returned with "I love you too, and nothing is going to change that". My phone began to vibrate on the desk... I sighed crawled over him and answered it, it was Kyle.
"Hey Luke, Can I see you sometime today? without Narei please, it's really important" Kyle said, with a concerned tone.
"Ummm. " I hesitated with thought "Yeah, of course I can. We going to meet at yours?"
"Sure, how about an hour?" Kyle questioned
"Yeah, I can do that" I answered, then putting the phone down.
I looked at Narei who laid on the bed, his eyes caught my attention as they reflected the light that beamed through the window making them look ever more majestic and beautiful than ever. I said "I have to go and meet Kyle in an hour, and you can't come... Kyle insists that you don't.". Narei looked at me with concern "Ok." he said with hesitation "I'll stay here and tidy up a bit.". I smiled moved over to him and lifted his head by his muzzle and kissed him. "I love you so much, never would I have thought I'd find someone like you to be by my side when I need you the most" I whispered. I began to put my clothes on, Narei watched me and I hopped around putting my pants on a leg at a time he giggled, I sighed and looked at him, he returned a look of love and utter most care. I finished putting my clothes on and ran over to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Narei began to head downstairs to meet me in the kitchen to say goodbye, I finished fixing myself in the mirror and headed down to say good bye.
I walked into the kitchen, and went to kiss Narei... As I hugged him I looked over his shoulder and saw car keys, I knew it would be much faster and easier than walking so I quietly took them. I pulled away from the hug and Narei caught my arm and took the keys from me. "You are NOT driving the car. It's only a block down!" I sighed and looked up at him, "NO!" he exclaimed firmly. I eventually gave in and kissed him and left the house and began to walk down to Kyle's house.
I arrived at the house and knocked on the door, Kyle answered and let me in and said to head up to my room. I went up and sat on his bed waiting for him, Kyle eventually came up sat next to me and looked deeply into my eyes. I expected something shocking to come from his mouth so I braced myself for whatever he was going to say. Kyle grabbed my paw, making me feel more nervy than before, he said with a calming tone in his voice "I have something to tell you." He paused for a moment "I Love You". My eyes widened and I tried to find something to say. I opened and closed my mouth repeatedly trying to push out a word or two. He sat there with a tear rolling down from his eye. I began to regain speech "Kyle, I'm sorry, but there's no chance you can get me to come back to you. I am with Narei now, you've had your chance I'm sorry" I got up to leave, he grabbed my paw "Please Luke, Please." I snatched my paw back, turned and headed out of his bed room door and outside from his front door. I began to walk back to my house and greet Narei who had been busy tiding up the house for me. I opened the door, and Narei greeted me "Hiya hunny, how was it?". I looked at him and said "You'd rather not know, trust me" I said with a worried tone. "That bad was it?" he chuckled, I giggled in return "Yeah." and wondered off upstairs to grab my phone. I picked it up and saw I had 2 missed calls and a text. The text read as follows:
I am so sorry Luke.
I am better off not in your life.
Don't expect to ever hear or see me again.
Ever.
Good Bye Luke

I read the text over and over again, trying to decipher what was being said. I was confused by what he meant, things rushed through my head and I had problems trying to catch hold of any and process it. One point I thought he was moving away, and the next I thought he was going to begin forgetting about me, like slowly tearing a picture of me and him in half, splitting us apart.
I began to think of the worst... Was he going to kill himself? I was shocked of what I thought, and I pictured it. Vividly. As if I was watching it... I shot downstairs and ran out of the house, completely forgetting about Narei. I ran, and ran to Kyle's house. I knocked on the front door, waited and got no reply. Knocked again, and no reply. I went round the back and looked through the windows I saw no sign of life. I crawled through an open window and ran upstairs, as fast as I could without tripping on the edges of the steps. I reached Kyle's room, closed. Kyle's room's door is never closed, I opened it and walked in to see the most horrible sight ever.
Kyle, laid upon his bed, a knife by his side gripped with one and his other hand lay lifeless by his side. He lay there, soaking in a pool of his blood, getting thicker and thicker, getting deeper with colour as I stand there. I began to sob uncontrollably, an reached for my phone and dialled 911. They picked up and I asked for an ambulance and gave them my address... I kneeled down by his side, held his paw and said softly into his ear "It's going to be ok" attempting to sound brave, speaking tactically in between the sobs. I heard sirens in the far distance, I grabbed his paw and pleaded to myself that he would be ok. Crying once again. The sirens grew closer and closer, getting louder as they near. I saw the life in Kyle slowly fade away as his skin got more pale and discoloured with the loss of blood. I heard the team of paramedics barge through the front door and up to the bedroom where they pushed me aside and tended to Kyle, as he lied there, lifeless and limp. I watched them as they dragged his body onto the stretcher and took him down the stairs and into the ambulance. I offered to go with him, texting Narei on the way.
"Hiya babes, Sorry I'm heading to the hospital..." I sent the text and awaited a reply. "DING" I checked my phone
"Why?! Are you ok?!" The message came through quickly, panicked, following the same fear of Narei.
"I'm fine, take the keys and drive over, I will meet you in reception" I sent back... Not expecting a reply this time.
We arrived at the hospital and Kyle was rushed off to ICU, I waited in the reception, tears flowing down from my muzzle, dripping on the floor. Narei finally got here, walked in worried and panicked he walked over and hugged me whilst I was sitting down.
"What's wrong?" He asked, concerned.
"Kyle is in ICU..." I said, slightly hesitant. "He stabbed himself after I left his house" I said... with a feeling that it was my fault and sobbing some more.
"It will be ok, I promise" He reassured me.
We began to walk down the hall after being given the all clear to see him, we reached his room and I looked through the window of the door and saw all the pipes and cables attached to him. We walked in, with a saddened atmosphere. I stood and stared at him, staring at everything that was attached to him, knowing that those cables and tubes would only keep him alive for so long. I sat down, Narei sat in the chair next to me and held my paw tightly. Trying to keep me from crying again, he hated seeing me cry. It made him feel like crying too, and he doesn't cry much. The blips of the machine showed signs of a pulse... But the peaks grew, and shrunk as time went on... I knew that with every blip or peaked that showed on the monitor determined if he was to survive or not.
I looked at Narei and said "You can go home if you want, I'm planning to be here for a while" with yet another tear rolling down, following the contours of my muzzle.
"No. I want to be here for you, by your side all the time." He replied, wiping the tear away from my muzzle.
I smiled and leaned over onto his shoulder and watched the monitor, I knew that with every peak, slowly fading, his life was ending. I watched the monitor, and fell asleep on Narei's shoulder.
I was woken up by a loud rush of doctors and nurses rushing us out of the room. I watched through the window and saw the monitors continuous, uninterrupted line. I saw the doctor preparing to perform CPR. I turned around and began to cry into Narei's shoulder as Narei stared through the window with tears forming in his eyes with ran down and dripped on top the back of my neck. I sobbed loudly into his shoulder, his arms around me the only thing that comforted me at that moment. A few minutes passed, I turned around to see the doctors giving up, and they stood there. Not doing anything, I just watched. The doctors walked out, upset and frustrated that they just lost a life. I ran inside of the room as the nurse was calling the time and fell onto him crying. I rested my head on his chest, crying tears flowing down onto his chest. I stopped breathing so heavily and heart a beat... His heart was beating, I looked up at the monitor and saw the pulse, then came the beep once more... I yelled "NURSE!" with a slight moment of happiness. The nurse came rushing in, saw the pulse and quickly called the team in. They began to prep him again. Making sure the previously detached cables were re attached and working. I turned around to Narei, smiled and hugged him tight.
I whispered "I love you"
He looked at me, and I saw in his eyes that he loved me back, more than ever. I kissed him softly and rested my head on his shoulder again.
We both stepped to the side to sit on the seat, I rested my head to its previous location and fell back to sleep. Narei, slowly drifting off himself.
