Power of the Crests Ch1 - Entering a New World

Two lone figures walked the roads of the Digital World. Their countenance was stern, and their eyes were hardened from countless battles. One was a male fox who had just recently turned 20. He was covered in deep red fur, with white on his stomach, his paws, and on the tip of his tail, which waved idly in the air as he walked. Next to him was his digimon partner, a female Gatomon. She was like any other Gatomon in appearance, with white fur, yellow clawed gloves and a gold ring on her tail. They had been partners for six years now, always protecting innocent digimon from the evil digimon, and fighting off whatever other threats came their way. Their story begins then, when the fox was but 14 years old.

Six years earlier...

"Aw, man, I knew I should've stayed with the group," the 14-year-old todd sighed as he wondered the woods, looking for his camp. "The camp counselor is gonna be mad at me for this."

His name was Jake, and he had gotten lost whilst looking for firewood for the camp. His friends dared him to go on his own, which he objected to at first, knowing that the leader had said for everyone to stay together. In the end they managed to agitate him enough to agree to it, just for the sake of getting them off his back.

As the todd wandered amongst the trees, his ears twitched as he thought he heard a faint voice. "Hello?" he called out as he looked around for the source of the voice, but no-one responded. "Man, just the wind. I must be losing it," he muttered as he continued through the woods.

"Jake..." the voice then spoke again, this time louder which made the fox jump in surprise.

"Who's there? Hello?" he half demanded, half pleaded as he looked frantically for where it was coming from. Just then a faint light caught his eye, which seemed to beckon him.

"Jake, this way, come!" the voice continued and Jake walked cautiously to it, curling his tail around him as he edged closer. As he did the light grew stronger and the wind picked up. Suddenly the wind grew strong and Jake yiped as he was almost swept off his feet.

"Whoa! Wh-what's going on?!" he yelped as the wind continued to grow strong, seeming to draw him to the source of the light. He grabbed onto a shrub to try to keep himself from being swept up, but it proved futile as the shrub broke off from the ground and the todd found himself pulled into the light. The last thing he heard before losing consciousness was the voice speaking to him.

"You have a great destiny ahead of you, young fox. I look forward to meeting you..."

"Ugh, wha-" Jake mumbled as he awoke. He blinked his eyes as light entered them, taking a few moments to adjust. He groggily sat up and looked around as his vision gradually cleared up and took in his surroundings. He was in a grassy meadow somewhere. Flowers sparsely covered the landscape along with a couple trees and boulders, and in the distance were some low, grassy hills. "Man, what happened? And... where am I?" he wondered as he stood up and looked around.

Nearby was a dirt trail that led to the distant hills, and after contemplating it for a moment he decided to follow it. "Maybe it'll lead to someone who can tell me where I am," he wondered and started down the road. It didn't take long to reach the hills and he looked as the path lead up them. He was about to continue up when suddenly he felt a low tremor coming from around the curve. Thinking quickly he ducked behind a rock and let out a low meep as a Greymon walked down the path.

'What the- hey, is that a digimon?' he thought as he watched the creature travel down the road. Once it was a good distance away he got up from his hiding spot and watched it curiously.

"A Greymon. That light... it must've taken me to the digital world," he spoke to himself as he turned back up the path. Digimon were a common sight on his world, as most people had their own digimon partner. The digimon usually came to their partner through a portal between the two worlds, along with a digivice, yet few people had actually ever entered the digital world themselves.

As he was about to continue up the path a sudden beeping from his pants pocket caught him by surprise and made him jump. "What's the-" he meeped as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small device. He immediately recognized it as a digivice, having seen the ones his friends had. It was a little bigger than his paw, had a screen at the top and a few buttons underneath the screen.

"Wow, how did this get there?" he wondered excitedly as he looked it over. "Huh, what's this symbol?" he then wondered as one was displayed on the screen, then the words "Crest of Courage" displayed underneath it, almost as if the device reacted to his question.

The young todd then watched as a map of the area was displayed and a blip flashed on it. "Hmmm, that's not too far away, looks like somewhere up there and off the path," he mused as he finally started up the hill, now following the map to whatever it was leading him to.

He traveled up the hill for some time, making sure to keep an eye on the map as the blip moved around, although it seemed to stay in a general area. He didn't know what he was going to find, and he was more than a little scared as he knew that the digital world could be a dangerous place. Most of the digimon were friendly and wouldn't attack unless they were provoked, but he also knew that there were those that were either mischievous, hostile, or even malicious and evil with ambitions to rule all. Fortunately the most evil ones were held off by the four masters of the digital world.

Soon he came up to the top and stopped for a moment to look about the area. There was grass as far as the eye could see, and the dirt path continued straight forward for what seemed to be miles. "Huh, now where?" he asked himself as he looked at his digivice again. "Well, looks like I go left now," he said as he walked off the road and made his way through the grassland.

As he walked various kinds of digimon, all of them below Champion level, watched this red fox with curiosity. Jake was a bit unsettled at first, but seeing that the digimon seemed to be a bit excited at seeing a furr eased his worries. He figured that they were all probably wanting a partner and seeing one such as him got them hoping he would be the one. Soon an Agumon approached him and looked up at the todd, smiling.

"Hello there. We don't see furrs here very much, what's your name?" the Agumon asked and held out his paw. Jake looked down at the small lizard-like digimon, then smiled as he took the offered paw and shook it.

"Hi, I'm Jake," he responded with a smile. "I don't really know how I got here. There was a light and I was sorta swept up into it," he said and decided to sit down to take a breather from walking. Agumon nodded and sat next to him.

"I see. You must've been pulled into a portal. Though I've only ever seen digimon leave through one, not a furr come in. Well, you really shouldn't have walked off the path. It's easy to get lost around here if you don't know the place, but I see you have a map. Going somewhere?" he cautioned the fox, then asked as he noticed the digivice Jake carried.

"Yeah, I found this in my pocket after I got here," he answered back with a low chuckle. "It's leading me somewhere, and I figured I better follow it," he continued talking and stood back up. Agumon nodded again.

"Well, I won't keep you then, be careful and don't get lost!" the digimon said cheerfully and turned his attention back to the other digimon.

"I will, thanks!" Jake yipped back and smiled as he started through the grasslands again. As he did a few of the rookie-level digimon followed him, as if to protect him should anything bad should show itself. Jake chuckled and waved his tail happily at the escort, feeling a little better about having company around. Agumon stayed behind, though, the younger in-training and baby level digimon being his charge to look after.

He didn't travel too far before he arrived at the source of the signal; a small group of the puppy-like Salamon playing in the grass. Jake watched them curiously for a bit as they jumped around and chased each other, seeming to have quite a bit of fun, until one saw him and walked up to the fox, smiling at the young todd.

"Hello!" the Salamon chirped as she looked up at Jake and the digivice he held. "Would you be Jake?" she then asked, which surprised the foxie a bit.

"Y-yeah, I am," he responded with a bit of a nervous stutter, wondering how the little digimon knew his name. This made Salamon jump up and down excitedly.

"Yay, I knew you would come soon! My master told me to wait here and I would meet you. He told me you were my partner!" she yipped and jumped onto the surprised todd's shoulder. Jake blinked a couple times as he took this in, then let out a happy chuckle as he reached up to pet her.

'Wow, my own Digimon partner! This is great!' he thought as he watched Salamon lean into his paw as he petted her. "Your master, huh? Who is he?" he asked her as he wondered if maybe he was the one who brought him here.

"Oh, he's an old coot who lives in a house down the path. Calls himself 'The Wizard'," she answered and jumped back down to the ground. "Hey, lets go see him! He told me he wanted to see you when you got here!"

"Alright," Jake nodded and looked at his digivice again as the two started back to the dirt path. At this point the digimon that followed him remained behind and went back to their business, seeming content with Salamon being with Jake.

The two followed the path in the direction Jake was going before. As they came to an area where the path went between two higher-rising hills, Salamon stopped suddenly, looking a bit nervous.

"Huh? What's wrong Salamon?" Jake asked as he noticed the look on her face. She took a step back as she looked intently ahead, shaking a little.

"Something's coming! Something bad..." she said as Jake knelt down in front of her and looked back at the path, his eyes growing concerned and serious as he indeed heard something big approach their way.

"Nova Blast!" suddenly echoed from up the path as a huge fireball came their way. Jake yelped as he grabbed his partner and jumped out of the way, garnering a yelp from Salamon as they barely avoided being cooked.

"Whoa! Lets get out of here!" Jake yelled as he started running the other way with Salamon in his arms. However, his retreat would be cut short as a boulder then fell from the sky and crashed right in front of the todd. Jake yiped as the shockwave sent him flying a few feet before landing on his back.

"Jake, you ok?" Salamon asked after a moment as she looked up at him. She got up on all fours and walked up his chest to her partner's face. Jake panted for a moment before nodding and sitting up, then grabbed her again and got to his feet as their attacker landed right in front of them. It was a Greymon, and at first Jake thought it was the one from earlier but this one was black in color. The creature looked down at the two and grinned wickedly.

"This is it? Bwahahaha, this will be easy! Time to die little foxie," the Greymon bellowed as he prepared another Nova Blast attack.

"Ack, wh-what?" Jake yiped again as he started back up the path between the hills. However, the Greymon simply re-aimed his blast there, causing a rockslide to block the road. Jake, having narrowly dodged the falling rocks, now found himself trapped as the Black Greymon approached and cut off any means of escape.

I'll fight him!" Salamon announced as she jumped from Jake's arms and ran up to the opponent.

"Salamon, wait!" Jake protested, knowing she was only novice level and not strong enough to take on a Greymon, but then seeing how they were trapped he realized they didn't really have a choice.

"Haha, brave little puppy! I'll enjoy making you squirm before I delete you!" Greymon laughed at the small digimon before him. Salamon didn't flinch and merely growled at the words, but inside she knew that this was a battle she couldn't win. It wasn't gonna stop her from trying, though!

"Fire Wall!" the black digimon called and was about to unleash a wall of flames from its maw when suddenly he was hit several times from behind. The evil digimon roared and turned around to see a group of novice-level digimon, several of them being ones that followed Jake earlier, attacking Greymon all at once. However, he found the attacks to mostly be an annoyance as he decided to use his Flame Wall attack on them instead.

Jake and Salamon watched in shock as a bunch of the digimon were deleted and more were injured from the blast. This made Jake mad as he grabbed a rock and threw it at Black Greymon, yelling, "Hey, leave them alone!" The digimon responded by turning around and swiping his claws at both the fox and at Salamon. They barely dodged the attack, but it was no good as Jake watched Salamon charge the large dino and subsequently get slapped right across the face by Greymon's large, black paw.

"No, Salamon! Leave her alone!" the young todd demanded and grabbed a nearby rock, intent on drawing the enemy away from her. Just then, responding to the courage the two were showing, his digivice flashed with a warm light as power filled Salamon.

"Wow, she's digivolving!" Jake yipped as Salamon glowed and changed shape, becoming the feline-like Gatomon. He watched in awe, then grinned as his partner stared up at their enemy.

"Ok, this kitty's done playing games!" Gatomon yelled as she charged straight at the still-larger digimon. "Lightning Kick!" With that the small feline did a lightning-quick flipkick straight to Black Greymon's jaw. The larger digimon roared at the pain as the attack sent him flying and crashing into the ground.

He shook his head and rubbed his jaw after just a brief moment, but before he could do anything else the angry Gotamon used her Lightning paw attack. Jake watched excitedly and cheered Gatomon on as she punched the Greymon over and over again, retaining her lightning speeds the whole time.

"Grah, st- argh! Stupid cat!" Greymon roared and swiped at her, trying to push her back, but Gatomon swiftly dodged each blow. However, a subsequent Nova Blast just as the feline was about to hit his jaw again made contact and sent Gatomon hurling towards Jake.

"No, Gatomon!" the fox yelped as he dove and caught her before she hit the ground. "You alright?" he asked the kitty out of worry, but seeing her shake her head and quickly recover brought relief to the concerned todd.

"Stupid feline, I'm going to roast you!" Black Greymon roared as he charged after the two, preparing a Fire Wall attack. Gatomon, thinking fast, pushed Jake away and dodged to the side just as the flames came their way, then dashed straight at the black digimon and delivered a powerful punch to his gut, making sure her claws cut into him.

"Agh, wow, that was close!" Jake grumbled a bit and got up to watch Black Greymon hold his wound, a bit of data flying up from the cuts. The Greymon retaliated with his tail and claws but the feline was just too quick for him. This made Jake grin as Gatomon met each attack with one of her own.

"Argh, take this you mangy feline!" he roared out of frustration as he dug his claws into the earth and send dirt flying at Gatomon, briefly blocking her vision. He used this chance to grab the feline and hold her tight, grinning sinisterly.

"No, let her go!" Jake demanded as he watched his partner struggle in the Greymon's grasp. He merely let out a chuckle as he proceeded to smash Gatomon into the hills and ground over and over, Gatomon letting out a screech with every blow. Jake growled fiercely at this as he grabbed some rocks and dashed after Black Greymon, hurling the stones at the beast. Annoyed, the dino grabbed the fox and held him up to his snout, glaring menacingly.

"Stupid todd, I'll teach you!" he roared as Jake struggled and hit his fist into the paw clutching him and demanding to be let go, but to no avail. He then yelped sharply as the Greymon was about to slam him and Gatomon into each other. Just before he could, however, the rookie digimon that survived Greymon's earlier assault began firing at his back, distracting him from carrying out the assault.

'Phew, that was too close,' Jake thought as he looked over at his weary partner. She panted heavily as she tried to recover her strength, it feeling as though every muscle and bone in her small frame ached. She looked back to the digimon trying to ward Greymon off, and knowing they wouldn't be able to survive another attack like before, thought frantically at what to do.

"So, you want to be heroes? Lets see if you can take this! Nova- ARGH!" the black digimon taunted, but just before he could unleash his attack he felt a sharp pain in his paw as Gatomon sunk her teeth deep into it, forcing him to drop her. He roared at her audacity, shaking his injured paw and holding Jake in front of him. "That's it! I'm going to destroy you, but first I'll take care of your partner!" he roared as he tightened his grip around Jake, the fox howling in pain as he felt his bones creak. This made Gatomon furious as she summoned her lightning speed and charged at him.

"That's it, this kitty's had it! Lightning Paw!" she yelled as she delivered a powerful punch to Black Greymon's arm. He roared in pain as he dropped Jake, who was caught by Gatomon and set on the ground. She wasted no time as she jumped up at the digimon, using her claws to cut straight up from between his legs to his head, leaving three deep gashes on him. Unable to take such an attack Black Greymon destabilized and his data was deleted and scattered.

Meanwhile, Jake sat on the ground and watched in awe as his partner won the fight. He crawled over to Gatomon, who was more than a little worn out from the fighting and looked a little beat up, but ok overall. Jake picked up the little kitty and placed her on his shoulder, smiling at his partner as he went over to the digimon who had helped them. As he did even more rookie-leveled digimon appeared, along with the normal Greymon who Jake saw earlier.

"Aww, I finally get here and the fight's already over?" Greymon chuckled as he looked down at Jake and Gatomon. He then looked over to the injured digimon with a sad look. "That's too bad that some were deleted, but not to worry as they'll be reborn as digi-eggs soon enough," he said as he turned back to the fox and kitty. "I'll look after them, you two better get to the wizard's house, I'm sure he's waiting for you."

"Alright, thanks, I'll get to him right away, but there is a little problem," Jake answered and chuckled a little as he pointed to the rocks blocking the path between the hills. After contemplating it for a moment, Greymon punched through the boulders, clearing the path again for Jake and Gatomon to pass through. After saying goodbye to everyone they walked up the path to their destination.

"Hey Gatomon, what was with that Black Greymon? I thought the evil digimon were held back?" Jake asked and pondered as he walked down the road. Gatomon looked down a little sadly as she thought the question over.

"I don't know. Recently all these bad digimon appeared. Used to be only the mischievous ones caused any trouble. The wizard told me that something happened to make the masters no longer able to hold them back," she explained worriedly and snuggled up to him on his shoulder. Jake reached up and petted the kitty over and gave her a nuzzle, bringing a smile to the Gatomon's muzzle.

'Is that why I was brought here? To hold the evil back now that the Sovereigns can't?' the vulpine wondered as he traveled down the road, glancing over to his partner who was falling asleep on his shoulder. He chuckled lightly and smiled at the sight of Gatomon resting peacefully as he traveled down the path, lifting his tail and covering her with it like a blanket. The feline purred softly and snuggled into the warm, soft tailfur as she dozed. 'But how can we hold back all of them? There's so many, and some of them are Ultimates or even Megas. Gatomon's only a champion.'

As he thought over this his mind went to the voice that spoke to him when he was brought here. 'It said I have a destiny here,' his thoughts continued, then he shook his head and sighed. 'Man, this is too much. I won't worry about it now, maybe this 'Wizard' can explain it all, whoever he is.'

The journey there was mostly uneventful, with a few digimon alongside the road simply looking curiously at this fox and the Gatomon resting peacefully on his shoulder and covered with his tail. Soon she awoke and gave a yawn then looked up at Jake, who smiled happily as he saw she looked quite rested.

"Mmm, g'morning Jake!" Gatomon chirped and sat up on his shoulder. Jake giggled and petted her in response, glad to see she had mostly recovered from the battle earlier.

"Heh, it's not morning, though you did sleep for a couple hours. Feeling better?" he asked as he laid his tail in her lap. She nodded and held the bushy appendage to her, enjoying its softness as they continued to the Wizard's house.

After another half-hour of traveling the two came to their destination. It was a small, yellow house with a red roof. Gatomon jumped off Jake's shoulder and ran up to the building, shouting 'We're here!' to her partner and motioning him over to the door. Jake looked over the house as he walked up to it, then noticed something odd; it had no windows. He shrugged at this, remembering that things in the digital world were seldom what they appeared.

Indeed, as he opened the door and the two walked in the place was much larger than it appeared outside. It obviously went underground, and on all the walls were 'windows' that showed a beach outside. Of course they were at least miles away from any sort of beach, so Jake knew it was just a trick of the world he was in. The room they were in right now was quite large. They were in the upper part near the entrance, with a staircase leading down into the main part.

"Master, I'm back! And I brought Jake!" Gatomon chirped as she descended the staircase, Jake following and looking around in awe at everything. As they reached the bottom they were greeted by an elderly man. He had a long, white beard covering his face and grey, thinning hair on his head. He wore a simple red shirt and blue pants.

"Well well well, let me see," the elderly man spoke as he looked up at Jake. "Yup, you must be Jake alright. Come, come! Have a seat," he said motioning to a plain-looking chair near a wood table.

"Um, thank you sir," Jake responded a little nervously and sat down as the 'wizard' walked over to a desk.

"Oh, you can call me Micah if you wish, heheh," the wizard chuckled as he looked through the drawers looking for something. Jake watched Micah as he did, a lot of questions running through the todd's mind.

"Um, Micah? I was wondering, are you the one who brought me here?" the vulpine asked, garnering a chuckle from the old human.

"Oh, no, no, it wasn't me. Azulongmon was the one who opened the portal," Micah responded as he pulled some stuff out of the drawer. Jake blinked at the answer, surprised that the Sovereign himself was the one who summoned him here.

"Now, I'm sure you have many more questions, Jake, so go ahead while I get this stuff," Micah told the fox with a chuckle and Jake nodded, asking questions about why he was brought here, how if he was to hold the evil back now, how would he be able to, and basically what he needed to do.

Soon Micah brought a stack of books to the table and set them down, opening one and handing it to Jake. "Basically, yes, Azulongmon did bring you here to guard over his territory from the evil masters who would just love to take it for themselves," Micah told Jake as he sorted through all the volumes. "Don't worry about the territories of the other Sovereigns, they knew one boy and digimon alone wouldn't be able to handle guarding the whole world. I don't know what the other masters are doing about their territories, but they have it under control. At least from what I've heard, heheh," the old man chuckled and Jake nodded softly.

"Ok, I guess I can handle that," Jake said uncertainly, still not sure if he could indeed handle something like this. After all he was only 14, and to be honest he really just wanted to go home. "Hey Micah, is there any way I could go back home? I'm sure everyone's worried about me by now. I don't want my mom and dad to be worried, either," he sighed as he looked down at the books, wondering what they were all for.

Micah turned away and shook his head lightly at the todd's question. "The only way back is through a portal. Azulongmon used a lot of strength to bring you here. Normally the portals open on their own, and then only to take a digimon to its partner. Mostly only portals big enough for the smaller rookie- and- in training digimon open, and only long enough to take them through. You'd not only have to wait for a portal big enough to appear, but you'd also have to be quite fast to get through it," Micah explained, much to Jake's disappointment.

'So I'm stuck here,' Jake thought and sighed again, Gatomon climbing onto his shoulder and nuzzling him out of concern. The foxie nuzzled her back and turned back to the books, deciding there was no point in worrying about it anymore. "By the way, what are all these books for?"

"Why, for studying!" Micah chirped with a smile, bring a nervous look on Jake's muzzle. "What, you still have to learn! There's much about this world you do not know, and when you're not fighting you're going to be learning as much as you can, heheh," Micah chuckled while Jake chuckled irritatingly.

'Great, it's still summer and I'm starting up school already,' the vulpine grumbled to himself as Micah brought in a blackboard and began the lessons. For the next month Jake's activities would be learning all he could about the digital world, and he and Gatomon would fight many battles. Every day it seemed as the number of evil digimon increased, but fortunately they were all Champion-level digimon and with each battle the two improved. Gatomon was becoming quite strong, even though after a couple really tough battles she would revert to a Salamon from all the energy she used.

The latest was a Devimon, and after a very tough battle she reverted to a Salamon again and was now resting on the table while Jake continued his studies. The fox looked over at the sleeping digimon, reaching over to pet her softly. His eyes softened and he let out a sigh as he watched her slumber, but after a moment he shook his head and returned to his studies.

"Jake, why don't you take a break?" Micah told the todd, just barely walking in the room. Jake's eyes shot over to him, then he nodded and closed his book. He took Salamon into his arms and brushed over her fur gently, his eyes softening and looking a bit sad, like he was keeping something bottled up inside. Over the last month the two became very close friends and very rarely left each other's sides.

Micah smiled at the sight and walked past them into another room. Jake watched the old human leave then turned his gaze back to his partner as she woke up with a yawn.

"Mm, g'morning Jake," Salamon chirped and nuzzled his chest. Jake chuckled and licked her cheek in response, having gotten used to her saying 'g'morning' whenever she woke up, even if it wasn't morning. She then looked up and saw the look in his eyes. "What's wrong Jake?" she asked a little worriedly. Jake looked away for a sec at the question, then back to Salamon as he petted her ears.

"W-well, I- what?" he stuttered, then yelped as a large bang shook the house. "What was that?!" he yelped and the two ran outside. What they saw was the monkey-like Ultimate Level Etemon causing havoc, making the ground around him explode and tear up. Soon Etemon looked over at Jake and Salamon and grinned.

"Well well, what do we have here? A fox and a puppy! Oh yeah, this is gonna be too easy!" Etemon taunted and grinned. Jake and Salamon glared and growled at the monkey.

"Oh yeah? We'll see about that! Ready Salamon?" Jake yelled in response and Salamon nodded at his question as she digivolved to Gatomon and charged Etemon.

"Oooh, so the puppy's now a kitty!" the monkey digimon continued taunting as Gatomon prepared her Lightning Paw attack, connecting to Etemon's chin. However, Etemon merely flinched back, barely affected by the attack at all, much to Jake's and Gatomon's chagrin. Next thing she knows Gatomon is grabbed by the monkey and hurled around like a ragged doll.

"No!" Jake growled at Etemon, then grabbed a nearby stick and dashed after him. With a roar he swung the stick at the monkey's head, who flinched back and rubbed where he was hit.

"Ow, looks like the little fox boy needs to be taught a lesson," Etemon said and grinned as he grabbed Jake's arm with one hand, then delivered a strong punch to Jake's gut. The vulpine howled in pain from the blow and fell to his knees while clutching his stomach, coughing and gagging as his stomach felt it was on fire. Gatomon hissed as she saw what Etemon did.

"Leave Jake alone you stupid monkey! Tackle Punch!" Gatomon screeched and delivered a punch whilst tackling the monkey digimon. However, Etemon caught the feline and threw her into Jake who was still reeling from his injury, causing them both to go flying. Jake let out a loud yelp as he crashed on the ground, Gatomon landing on his chest and the two reeling from Etemon's assaults.

"J-jake, I don't know if I can go on..." Gatomon said weakly, unable to hold herself up even on all fours as she looked up at her vulpine partner. Jake whimpered at the sight, holding her to him weakly and wondering what to do as Etemon grinned at what he had done.

'Dang, how can we beat him? He's too strong,' Jake thought as he laid on the ground. 'No, I'm not giving up! Not that easily, I can't just simply give in!' Jake's thoughts continue as was he was filled with a deep resolve. He grabbed Gatomon and forced himself on his knees, while Etemon merely chuckled at the sight.

"Ah, c'mon now, I admire your resolve, but you really don't expect to win, do you?" the monkey chuckled and trotted towards the pair. Jake, using all his strength forced himself on his feet and glared at Etemon, his face glowing with a fierce determination. Just then, responding to Jake's emotions, an intense light shot up in front of Etemon, surprising him and causing him to lose his balance.

"Whoa, hey Gatomon, what's that?" Jake asked as something appeared in the light. It shone with its own light down at the two, filling them with energy and healing their wounds. Gatomon, fully rejuvenated, jumped from the todd's arm and looked up at the object, which soon revealed to be a pure-white bracelet with the Crest of Light etched into it. It floated down to Jake and attached itself to his wrist. Jake's Digivice reacted to the crest's power, which then infused into Gatomon, allowing her to digivolve.

"Wow, this is amazing!" Jake yipped excitedly as his partner became the angelic digimon Angewomon. She smiled back at Jake a moment before turning her attention to the Etemon before them, staring him down. Etemon looked up at her, trembling a little.

"Uh-oh, this doesn't look very good. Maybe I should skedaddle before some-" he said and was turning around before Angewomon shouted at him.

"Hold it right there!" the angel yelled at the monkey, already flying at him and floating right in front of him. "Heaven's Charm!" she then shouted out as a cross-shaped energy appeared in front of her.

"Oh yeah, lets see you handle this! Dark Network!" Etemon yelled back and threw a ball of Dark energy at Angewomon, however she was protected as the energy cross blocked the attack and the dark energy scattered. "What? Well, uh, lets see now," Etemon started mumbling as he contemplated what to do next, but he wouldn't have the chance to do anything as Angewomon formed a bow in her hand.

"Celestial Arrow!" she shouted as she launched an arrow made of light energy at Etemon, piercing him straight through. The monkey let out a yell as he was struck before he broke down and his data scattered. The job finished she landed in front of Jake, who had watched the battle in awe. She picked the todd up into her arms, which garnered a surprised meep from him, and flew off, saying, "Here, there's something I want to show you."

Soon they landed in a field filled with pink flowers just a short distance away from Micah's house. Angewomon set Jake down on his feet and he looked about, admiring the simple beauty of the place. "Wow, this place is beautiful."

Angewomon walked up to his side, now reverting back to Gatomon and smiled up at her partner. Jake smiled back and walked over to a nearby tree, the only one in view, and sat against it. As they let the scenery comfort them the two snuggled together, and Jake looked at the kitty with the same solemn look he had earlier.

"Gatomon, th-there's been something," Jake stuttered, but choked on his words before he could speak further. Gatomon looked up at him, gazing into his eyes, and gradually her own gained the same expression. She took off her yellow gloves to reveal small, white-furred paws and hushed the vulpine with a finger. No words needed to be said, she knew what he was feeling, for she, too, felt the same way. Slowly their lips met in a kiss, their maws dancing together as their tongues entwined.

Gentle murrs and purrs came from the two as they kissed, Jake's arms around his partner as they shared each other, expressing the love that had slowly developed over the last month as their lips were locked and their tongues danced in each other's maw.

They remained like this for a while, wanting the moment to last. Soon, however, their maws parted, and their eyes met once again, tears dripping down their faces and soaking their fur.

Jake smiled as he moved a finger between Gatomon's legs, touching the small, nearly invisible slit, which drew a gasp from the kitty as she shuddered slightly. Jake held his finger there, his eyes looking down at his partner and seeking approval before going on. Gatomon looked back up at him, smiling and nodding in response.

Not a word was spoken between the two as Jake rubbed his finger over the feline's petals, murring happily to himself as Gatomon mewled in delight, her body tensing up and her fluids dripping from her as she was pleasured. The scents coming from her caused Jake to be aroused as a tent formed in his pants, making him squirm a little. Gatomon, sensing the fox's discomfort glanced back at his crotch, then moved from the vulpine's grasp and pulled down his pants.

As the feline stared at the shaft before her she wiggled her rear, inviting Jake to continue his ministrations as she took his shaft into her paws and glided her tongue along its length. Feeling the rough tongue on him made the vulpine yelp and moan as he continue pleasuring his partner, his finger soon pushing into her depths.

Throughout the isolated valley yips, mewls and moans echoed as the two explored each other. At one point Jake tried to mate Gatomon, but it quickly became clear that his shaft was much too large to fit in her. Instead, the two decided to continue to pleasure each other, the sounds they made getting louder and their bodies becoming more tense as they neared release.

Gatomon's breathing became heavy and sporadic as she felt her tunnel squeeze and vibrate over her vulpine lover's finger, yet never stopped giving him pleasure. Soon her body wouldn't be able to take anymore and she let out a series of short, loud screeches as her juices shot out onto Jake's paw. Jake too panted and moaned, finally letting a loud howl as he shot his seed onto Gatomon's muzzle, covering her face with the warm, sticky goo.

As the two panted and tried to recover from the experience, Jake looked down at his soaked paw and his mind wondered at the sheer amount of fluids Gatomon released from her small frame. He slowly and weakly picked up his new mate and held her to his chest. Gatomon purred softly and licked Jake's muzzle before drifting off into a peaceful, contented slumber. Soon Jake too entered into dreamland with his partner, but not before making a solemn oath.

"I love you Gatomon. I swear I'll never leave you. Whether I make it home, or I live the rest of my life here, you'll always be by my side."

Six Years Later...

Jake and Gatomon trudged through a desert. They had learned much over the years. Much had changed, but the one thing that remained the same was their love for each other. After protecting Azulongmon's territory for so long, they now traveled to another place, a different Sovereign's territory, having received a message about needing help. The two learned in the message that all four masters had brought people to each of their realms to serve as protectors, but something had gone wrong. Something happened to the protector of Zhuqiaomon's territory, and they were heading there to find out what...
