The polygonal race car crashed into a sidewall with a satisfying foray of crunching metal booming from the speakers of the old television Toni had stuffed into the corner of the factory. Tristan had hooked up one of his older games consoles, one he was happy to part with, and used it to pass the time as Toni worked and conversed with him. The trip to the mall had been more than all three could have imagined, Tristan was a wreck with his nerves and his cure was digitised carnage. Toni was giddy with anticipation and focusing heavily on her work indulging herself in old sketches and ideas from her design books. Alex had gone home with a bottle of fur dye and his clothes. Toni and Tristan thought his under reaction was a bit odd.

"You know it's odd how Alex didn't over react" Said Tristan when his car flashed back to life on the television screen.

"Maybe he's just really calm?" replied Toni as she worked on the stitching on a pencil skirt. "Or maybe he's freaking out so badly we can't even tell. Oh, god should we have gone home with him?" Tristan let out a scoffing snort and Toni could swear she hear the eyes roll in his head. "What?"

"Oh nothing, I know much you would have love to be at Alex's right now." Toni pricked her finger hissing in pain as she swivels on her chair to face Tristan on the floor.

"The hell does that mean?"

"I've seen you looking over him even when he's dressed up, you got a crush on his fluffy bunny butt" Toni had a slight blush in response to that.

"I do not, Alex is just a great new friend and a perfect model for us both, you've been more out your shell around him ever since he started dressing up" Tristan turned the controller in his hand as his car skid off road the wheels kicking up pixelated dirt on to the screen before bright red words crawled over reading 'game over'

"I get it, he's cool about all of this and it's really surprising he's so open to trying on girl's clothes and dressing up, he does make it easier but remember this isn't my dream job. It's yours." They both sat in silence for a second before Tristan's game's music started up again. He hit mute and turned to Toni with a smirk. "I saw how you looked at him when you knew he wasn't looking. When he was in that book store, you got a bit fidgety when that lion boy was chatting him up" Toni remembers shifting a bit in her shoes but not being fidgety, but she was watching him all the same.

"Remember the first time you dressed up?" Toni asked when the silence outstayed it's welcome. "You were so nervous it was cute, I saw that in Alex too." Tristan nodded as a smirk crawled over his lips.

"You found me sneaking through my sister's old room trying on her school uniform. Next thing I know half dressed in a skirt was a loud rattle at my window from where you threw a pebble"

"Sea shell, it was the smallest thing at my window sill "

"I practically turned white in shock but you just kept shouting across at the window to me until I came over to talk" finally the room was instead filled with their chuckles as the two reminisced "You were gonna shout for the whole street to hear"

"Hey little cute panther boy~" Toni began copying her younger self "Want to try on real skirts~?" Tristan covered his face in his hands.

"Mom nearly heard that one, I knew it was a big risk trying to dress up in the middle of the day while she was home"

"You wanted to be caught don't lie. You're lucky it was me who caught you though" This was true, Tristan's mother was not as accepting of alternate lifestyles as would be desired of a twenty first century mother. "How is Stephanie anyway?"

"Sis? oh she's good, so is deb, they emailed me last week" It was when Stephanie was kicked out That her old room became Tristan's and that the two became much closer friends. "Thanks for always giving me a place to go when mom's in. I still don't like being in the house alone with her"

"Why? you don't have your clothes over there, she wouldn't find out"

"I know I just don't trust myself around her, she's been on edge ever since she was told Steph was gay. It's like she's looking for anything about me that she thinks was influenced by her you know? Like it's some sort of infection" Toni could only nod her head, it was never an easy subject bringing up Tristan's family. a thought then occurred weather she would have to explain this to Alex or if Tristan trusted him enough to admit it himself.

With a moment ruining RING and a soft rattle of her phone vibrating on the table Toni jumped from her thought. She answered the phone immediately after seeing it was Alex's name on the top.

"Oh, my god ow! Toni? god please tell me I phoned the right number" Alex sounded like he was hissing in between his sentences and struggling with most of the words

"Alex? what's wrong?"

"Ah, sheesh, Toni? Look I need you to come to my house, Dad's out at a bar don't know when he's back, need you to come in through back door and find me in the bathroom. ow ow ow Ugh this was such a bad idea" at that her heart began to race, was he hurt? did his dad find his clothes? was this the worst-case scenario Tristan always feared?

"Hold on okay Tristan and I are coming" she said calmly getting up and grabbing a jacket "Come on Alex needs us" was the only order she needed to give for Tristan to jump to his feet. They left the factory, Toni's home and were out on Krambs Cross in just a few seconds without saying a word, Alex was luckily living only a few streets away making the quick run all the easier for the two. "He said use the back door" Toni relayed as Tristan jumped the fence, a feat the small cow couldn't copy as she waited for him opening the garden's gate like gentleman should. Once inside Toni and Tristan began calling out for Alex in soft whispers expecting the worst. Inside didn't look like anything wrong, sure a few leftover boxes, beer bottles intact but left besides the trash instead of in. They wandered through the house until they came across the only room with a light spilling out from the ajar door as a familiar hissing was bouncing off the tiled room. "Alex?" Toni called out pushing the door open wider, what she saw made her jump back in shock, making Tristan scream in surprise which in turn made Alex look up turn as try his best to shush them with his eyes firmly shut in pain "Oh my god!" Toni said when she came back to the door laughing her words free. Alex was sitting on the toilet, towel wrapped around his waist as his black fur looked splotched over with large clear white markscovering over his face the tips of his ears along his arms and like a Jackson Pollock painting across his front and chest. When Tristan saw, he couldn't help but snort his laughter.

"Oh, now I see why you needed Toni's help. Alex, we thought you were a good Christian boy" he chuckled before receiving a tiny cow's elbow to his gut.

"Har Har" came Alex's mocking monotone "It's the Fur Dye, I was trying to use and It practically spilled over me, got in my eyes and it stings like hell" His eyes were red stinging with pain through half shut lids as every move failed to rub the Dye away from his face. "Christ, I messed this up"

"You did" Joked Toni as she grabbed a towel and moved closer dabbing the gently at Alex's face to clear the white dye from his eyes "But it can be salvaged if you just stay still. Tristan, go to the kitchen find me some rubber gloves we'll have to make do with that. Alex you're gonna have to wash your face to clear that mess off you so head over the bath tub will I spray you with water. Tristan seriously I don't care the colour they're gonna get ruined, I'll pay you back for the gloves" To Toni's credit she's a very calm and collected cow under pressure

"You're paying me back for the gloves". After finally washing Alex's face clean he could finally open his eyes to reveal the full stinging redness that lay beneath "The air hurts my eyes". Toni was holding on to one of his arms and rubbing the leftovers of the dye along them with a pair of pink rubber gloves that were slowly turning white.

"You should have asked for help with this" Toni said

"I had help, YouTube is help"

"And how did that go?"

"Horribly my laptop battery died on me halfway through the vid then I dropped the bottle, my eyes got splashed and you know the rest." Tristan was still in the corner giggling mad to himself as he read the bottle of dye over and over

"good look for you though, haven't seen a face like you're since Toni had to deal with a very eager shop clerk in the changing rooms"

"She was trying to see me naked I'm one hundred percent sure, she's a sexual predator, which is reason three I don't shop at Top Stop anymore"

"She was a recent high school graduate and it was her first job"

"PREDATOR!"

"She's like four years older than us."

"An eighteen-year-old can still be a predator" the three sat in silence as Toni switched to Alex's another arm

"My mom always warned me about Predators" Alex spoke up "got the whole thing a lot, 'Never accept candy from strangers', 'don't go near unmarked vans', 'don't believe strangers if they say they're our friends and you need to go with them to see us'. "

"Good advice really" Tristan replied

"Need to add avoid Top Stop to that list of dangers"

"Drop it Toni she just saw you in your underwear, she had the same stuff on and she was just as embarrassed"

"WHOLE STORE!" Tristan burst out laughing as Toni scrubbed the dye into Alex's arm fur harder

"ow, okay we're done with the arms." protested Alex as he turned around to expose his clear black back. Tristan felt the need to apply his own services to the fur dying experience and pouredthe dye down Alex's back. A tactful and technical art only to be mastered by the select few in the world.

"Where's your mom now?" Toni's voice was low and soft, probing at something she might not understand. Alex in response was just quiet. "Sorry is it touchy? I Don't mean to pry it's just I know you live with your dad."

"I don't know" he finally replied. "I don't know where she is, it's been months since she's contacted us. Dad and her divorced then she moved out our flat, then WE moved out the flat and came here I don't know where she went, if she's even back at the flat or if she has her own place." He gulped down his feeling as he thought of her, a tall beautiful figure, brown furred and in her officer's uniform while his young hands reached up to her for hugs. "She sucks" he scoffed out "It's like she doesn't care and only did what she wanted"

"I hear that" Tristan said as he sat on the side of the bathtub "My mom's a bible nut, so IF she ever found out about the whole factory thing, I'd probably never see you guys again. Or the sun. Hell, I'd probably be at one of those camps they have that brainwash little kids into thinking 'god is everything and everywhere' and just because I like something, That I like something she hates. She did it before driving away my sister" Alex turned his head to look to Tristan. "So, welcome to the 'our moms suck' club, Badges coming in the mail." the two chuckled with half attempted smiles on their faces as Toni finished the back.

"Didn't know you had a sister, what she like?"

"She's cool. lives out west now with her girlfriend she's also cool, I talk with them both on messenger"

"Okay you two We're done the salvage operation. Alex you're getting everything else" the panther boy grinned to her with wide white teeth and a devious look in his eyes

"Not wanting to rub your hands all along his chest? or were you hoping to help him with getting the 'rest' of him all white?" Toni shut him up fly flinging the plastic gloves to his face.

"This time don't get the dye in your eyes, small dabs in your hands okay?" Alex nodded smiling up to her from where he sat his bath towel robe still covering his lap.

"Thanks, you two. Factory tomorrow?" they nodded and left the way they had come in

"I know his new nickname" Tristan said with a wide grin "Bukakke!" Toni couldn't help herself, caught off guard by the vulgarity she burst out laughing.

"You're terrible!"
