#1 of When Running is Just the Start

None of these events, names, or places is factual. If they are, the reference is purely coincidental. Hope you guys enjoy this... one of many to come : )

Not much yiff in here, no, not at all, but there is some, and remember, this is that start of a series! I know that there's bound to be some spelling/grammar mistakes, just ignore them, we all know that they're there, and yeah, it's long [""](%5C).

'Looking back on my life... it was never perfect, hell, not even close... I was the one who decided if you lived or died... my decisions were simple ones really, you lived - I died... you died, I live. This is how I make my living. Call me what you want, "A death dealer", "A Hitman", "The Undertaker", it doesn't matter... for my real name, given to me at birth, Alex, was lost, entangled in a web of lies, conspiracy, deception, and murder. And I can't stand it anymore.'

The wolf was almost always dressed in an important looking business suite, entirely black, a white shirt tucked into the black pants, a tie in front of the shirt, and to top it all off, a long sleeved black coat. He could afford it too, but then again, so could almost everyone else in this city. This urban jungle was so crowded and alike; you could look to the left or right of you at virtually any time, and bam! Your 'clone' was right there. The wolf counted on this to get away from numerous jobs. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a business card:

Donovan Staffolder

- Sr. Executive

Ampletec Enterprises

This was the building, the tallest tower and the sleekest form: Ampletec Enterprises. He slipped the card back into his pocket and headed into the building. The lobby was warm compared to the chilling fall weather outside, but just as busy as the sidewalks were. Nodding several times on his was to the reception desk, the receptionist looked up. Coming to a stop in front of the counter, he placed a paw onto the counter and looked at the female bunny from behind his dark glasses. "Good morning ma'am."

"Hello sir," She smiled and giggled, too big of a flirt for her own good, "How can I help you?"

"I'm looking for Donovan Staffolder; I have an 11am with him."

"Alright, let me get someone to bring you up to him, if you'll wait a seco-"

"I'd prefer to meet with him alone please."

"Alright then no problem," She handed him a keycard "Take this and use the private elevator, it will bring you to Mr. Staffolder's office on the 63rd floor."

"Thank you." Alex started to turn and walk towards the elevator.

The bunny waved her arm in the air, and spoke loudly to get the wolf's attention "Hey, I didn't catch your name... if you... you know... want to go out to get something to eat sometime...?" Alex froze for a second and replied back.

"Don't mix business and pleasure; you might meet me one day like that, sweetie." The wolf smiled and continued to walk until he reached the elevator, inserted the keycard, and stepped in. The elevator doors closed and it began its climb to the top. Looking around, he inspected the elevator, no cameras, good, less chance of his identity being exposed. Quicker and quicker, it climbed higher and higher... 61... 62... 63, the doors opened and the wolf stepped out, eyeing the heavy oak double doors across the room.

"Can I help you?" the deep voice startled Alex, his paw leveled with his chest almost immediately. Turning around, he dropped it into a shake to avoid suspicion.

"Jonathan Burkholder." Alex said, looking level-eyed at the German Shepard in front of him.

"Chris." The Shepard refused his paw and spoke again, "What's your business here?"

"I have an 11am with Mr. Staffolder."

"Is this so? Well... let me see your appointment card then." Alex had no appointment card... so he reached into his coat and pulled out his only other alternative - a black Sig Sauer P226 Silenced Pistol.

"Is this good enough for you?" He pushed the Shepard up against a wall, and pressed the cold black steel against the Shepard's head, "One word and I swear to God, your head will be all over the wall."

The Shepard looked Alex in the eye and spat at him, "Fuck you."

Backing up and lowering this pistol to the Shepard's chest, it rang out the muffled sound twice, Chris slid down the wall onto the ground, with two fresh holes in his chest. "That was two words." Alex placed his gun back in his coat and shuffled through the Shepard's pockets, nothing much, his Colt 1911, probably issued by his employer, and a wallet with only a few dollars in it. He picked up the gun, placed it in his pocket and walked over to the double doors, pushing them open with both paws. He reached the center of the room and called out, "Mr. Staffolder?"

The fox was sitting behind the desk, working on some paperwork. He looked up, "Ah, you must be Mr. Burkholder, have a seat. I'm surprised that Chris didn't bring you in, he's a really enjoyable person... but tends to be over-protective."

Alex sat down, "Oh, we met briefly. He was complaining about some chest pain and had a seat. I hope it's not a problem I let myself in."

"Not at all." He opened his desk and pulled out a thick folder, opening it and flipped through a few pages, eyeing them for several minutes. Alex spent his time enjoying the 63 story view out of the large window, located directly behind the oak desk. "So, I was told you'd be here to discuss some... financial issues between our two organizations?"

"Yes sir,"

"Mr. Burkholder, let's just cut to the chase,"

"Yes, let's," Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out Chris' Colt and aimed it at the fox. "This is my associate; he'll be the one doing all the talking here."

The fox panicked and yelled out for his bodyguard "Chris! Get in here!"

Alex laughed, "Chris was won't be in anytime soon. I told you... we met briefly, and I didn't care for him much."

"Wait... y-you killed him? Why?"

Shrugging he motioned with the pistol for Donovan to raise out of his chair, "Simple misunderstanding in his part: Say the hell out of my way."

The fox got up, and raised his paws. "Please... money, jewels, whatever you want! It's yours! Just don't hurt me!"

"Not my choice. You were the one who fucked up your own life; all I do is repair some of the damage done. Get on your knees... now!" The wolf's voice grew harsh and demanding, as he leveled the pistol with the fox's head as the vulpine did what he was instructed to. "Any last words Donovan?"

Staying silent, the fox closed his eyes, "Please... I have a family"

"You should have thought of that before." He pulled the trigger on the Shepard's pistol, but to his surprise, all Alex heard was a metallic click. It jammed. But before he could produce his own gun, he found himself being forced backwards by the fox onto the floor, the Colt sliding away on the tiled floor.

"Should have thought things out wolf!" Donovan clenched his fist and let loose at Alex's head. One blow, then another, and another, as Alex regained himself, the fox threw another punch. This time Alex caught it and threw the fox off of him, sending him sliding across the floor, bumping his desk as he stopped.

"Not a good fucking idea Donovan! Not a good fucking idea." Alex, pulling out his own Sig, spit out blood and wiped the remaining saliva on his sleeve. The fox was taking advantage of this time, scrambling behind his desk. "You're only making this harder on yourself Donovan... you know this..."

"Fuck you!" Donovan was still behind his desk, but reaching into a drawer now. After a few seconds, he slid out a wooden box which contained a small dagger. It was a dull show piece, not a weapon, but either way - it would have to do. Rising from behind his desk, he threw the knife.

"Shit!" Alex saw the knife slice through the air in his direction so he quickly dove aside, but it was too late, three inches of the blade was now in his arm and his gun taking the same route as the Colt already had earlier. The wolf sat up and jerked the dagger out of his arm, wincing from the pain. With only one arm useful now, he felt around for his pistol. No luck, he looked up and saw Donovan running past him. "Oh, fuck!" Quickly, Alex jumped up and took off, running across the room until he was behind the oak desk. Silenced pistol fire quickly followed his submission... the wolf had just realized: the hunter has become the hunted.

"Mr. Burkholder, it seems as if the tables have turned." The fox's arm was outstretched, the gun in his paw. He stepped closer and closer, until he saw the wolf's eyes before his own. Alex wasn't to be taken that easy; he stood up, facing the fox. "Aren't you the big brave wolf?" He squeezed the trigger, letting off a round into Alex's chest. The lupine backed up until he came in contact with the window.

Alex was clutching the hole that the bullet left, his eyes full of pain. "I guess you win..."

"Damn right." The fox pulled the trigger once more, the force of the bullet into the wolf's already damaged chest was just enough to force him to go through the window, shards of glass flew like rain in a storm, glistening in the fall sunlight. The wolf fell three stories before abruptly coming to rest on a stone balcony. There he lie, shot twice and stabbed - bleeding out and probably a few broken bones. Falling in and out of consciousness, a woman... the receptionist, stood beside him.

Alex looked up at her, and with the last ounce of strength left in his body, he managed to let out a small cry, "H-help me,"

The next thing I knew I was at my agency, in the medical ward. I was bruised, battered, stabbed, shot, but...I was alive. For now... I was told I was no longer of use to them... they would kill me, and I knew it. I ran and I ran, I got out of the building and I hid. For 5 years I was in hiding. I lost everything I knew and loved... my friends, my family, and my own identity. I was no longer Alex Banks - hitman... I became Rob Mathers... a Systems Analyst.

_This is my life...

Present day...

After a hard day of work, the fox was in the shower, only wearing a few bubbles from the shampoo. The door slowly opened, the sound of which was masked by the sound of the running water, as the wolf entered the steamy bathroom, silently closing the door behind him. With no cloths on, he snuck up behind the glass shower door and opened it slowly. Directly behind the fox, Alex kissed his neck, "Good evening James."

"Mmm, heya Rob,"

Moving his paw to the fox's chest, he rubbed in some of the shampoo, lathering his own paw up. His paw found its way further down, until it met with the hardening fox member. "Have a good day?"

"Not as good as it's getting right now," He smiled and pressed backwards against the lupine body. Alex was now rubbing the penis, his own arousal already becoming known. James' body shook as his cock throbbed in Alex's paw. The wolf continued kissing the fox, but changed the gentle rub to a smooth pumping motion. James moaned as his cock produced the pre-seed, instantly washed away by the warm water. Pumping faster and faster, the vulpine couldn't hold it in anymore; he emptied his load onto the shower wall.

"Like that?" Alex smiled as James turned around and licked the wolf's maw.

"How couldn't I?" Slinking down onto his knees, he started to embrace the lupine cock. His tongue swirled around the shaft, and was about to take the member into his muzzle, but was interrupted by Alex.

"Wait..."

"What? Are you OK?" James released Alex cock.

"Shh..." Alex put his finger to his lips "Did you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

"Stay here and get down."

"Rob... what's going on?"

"Just trust me," Alex slid against the wall closet to the door as James did as he was told to do. They waited as a minute or so passed and the door opened. A Doberman made his way in, dressed in a dark SWAT like uniform, carrying an MP-5. Alex stood still, the door providing some coverage, but the water still running... they knew he was close. The lupine eyed the Doberman until his eyes met the canine's knife. Acting quickly, he darted out of hiding, his paw grabbing the knife, opening it, and bringing it straight into the dog's neck with one smooth motion. After easing the lifeless body to the ground, Alex reached into the Doberman's pocket, pulling out his wallet. Inside was a plain black keycard with a small up-side down 'v'. The logo of his previous employer. "Shit,"

James stepped out of the shower; his erection subsided, staring at the lifeless mass in front of him, "R-Rob! You killed him!"

"Listen, we need to get out of here, now." Alex grabbed the dead canine's sidearm, cocked it, and tossed it to James. "Have you ever shot a gun?"

"Rob... what's go-"

"Answer me James! Do you know how to use this?" James nodded, "Alright. Stay here, anyone other than me comes in, shoot them."

James' voice was choked up, "Rob... please..."

Alex sighed, "I'm not Rob Mathers... my real name is Alex Banks... I'll explain everything soon." James opened his maw slightly, but no words came out. "Look - it's a long story... just hang on with me... and get dressed, as soon as I get back, we're leaving."

"Alright..." James nodded as Alex picked up the MP-5 and ducked out into the hallway, towards his bedroom, running until he got there. He closed the door and locked it, tossing the gun onto the bed. Quickly, he got a muscle shirt and a pair of jeans out of his dresser and tossed them on. He gathered up the gun and ran back out of the door.

Alex ran to the bathroom to find a fully dressed fox, "Let's go" James started off behind Alex, "Stay low." Pointing the MP-5 around, he spotted another Doberman. He squeezed the trigger once, three rounds exploded out of the barrel and into the hitman. "There's the door! Go!" Alex let the gun go wild, the hail of bullets spraying around, providing a temporary shield. They darted out of the door, and behind Alex's car.

"What do we do now?"

"Listen to me very carefully James, I want you to get in my car, and drive to the Church on Fatherton St. Don't stop, go directly there and wait for me. If I'm not there in half an hour..."

"Ro-Alex..."

"If I'm not there in half an hour... run. Don't look back."

"I can't just..." James had a tear rolling down his cheek, fearing for his lover's life, but Alex narrowed his eyes and shook his head reassuringly, "Alright."

"Promise?"

"I promise."

Alex smiled and kissed the fox, "I love you and always will... remember that."

"I love you too."

"Good, now go James, I'll be there soon."
