Chapter 5

Sunday had gone by fairly quick, I thought to myself as I pulled up into Sean's driveway. I honked my horn and Sean came out; holding his backpack with one paw and eating an apple with his other. You could see his muscles through his white t-shirt.

Sean approached my car and opened the passenger door.

"It's a little chilly, is jeans and a short-sleeved shirt going to keep you warm?" I asked him.

"It's warmer than usual. I'll be fine," he replied with a smile.

"Okay," I simply said; agreeing to his statement.

We began our descent to school and began to feel that "rut" feeling I usually got when school had been in for a couple of months. It was a feeling a repetitiveness; all my classes had the same schedule, sure new lessons but we learned everything the same way every time. I sighed but then I perked up at the thought of, at least I have the weekends.

"Anything wrong, babe?" Sean asked.

"No I'm fine. Just a bit more tired than usual."

"Okay just checking."

I smiled at Sean, he smiled back.

We pulled up into a empty parking space, I killed the engine, grabbed my backpack from the backseat and got out of the car, and Sean did the same. The school was a bustle of young teenage furs. Everyone was talking to someone, everyone had somewhere to go; everyone seemed so caught up in something. I took hold of Sean's hand and we both walked to the entrance of Moon Creek High.

We walked to our lockers together, which luckily were right by each other.

"So want to hang out this afternoon?" I asked Sean.

"Sorry, I'd love to but I have important business with my mom." Sean replied.

"Like what?"

"Well I just need her to tell me something so we can schedule a trip somewhere."

"Oh, okay," I finally responded.

The bell rang and Sean leaned over and quickly kissed me and walked off.

Sean is acting weird, I thought to myself as I walked to class. He just seems so mysterious today and he tells me everything, I hope he's not hiding something. He'll probably just tell me later, I finally concluded.

I let my mind run free a little while longer but then I got serious and got focused when first period started.

The bell rang at the conclusion of class and Mr. Sherman quickly called out, "Don't forget to read Ch. 13," as we all rushed out of the class. My next period was lunch and I was so happy because I could finally see Sean and maybe have him tell me what the hell is going on.

I entered the lunchroom which was already crowded with furs and I think I even saw a wolf throw a chicken finger at a cat. I chuckled a bit, even though I wasn't sure if it happened or not.

I walked over to the table Sean and I and the rest our friends sat. I sat down and put my backpack by my side. I wasn't buying lunch today, I wasn't very hungry and school food never really sounded appetizing. I was the first one at our table but then my two other friends Danny and Michael sat down. They were one of the cutest couple I have seen and were very embracive of their gay pride. Then my two other friends sat down Chad and Christine another couple. Two more of my friends sat down, Lizzy and Megan, who were also Sean's friends. Finally Sean came and sat down with his lunch.

"You're not hungry," Sean asked me.

"No not really," I replied.

"Well c'mon, eat something." He said.

"I'm fine," I reassured him.

"You gotta eat something, you're already skinny as it is," Sean said handing me one of his to Gatorades and a banana.

I took them because I was feeling a tad bit hungry, "Thanks babe."

I didn't think me skinny I finally thought. I was five feet eleven inches and weighed about one hundred and thirty pounds. I was also kind of scrawny. Sean was the man in our relationship. He weighed about one hundred and seventy pounds and he was about six feet but he did have a four pack that was extremely sexy.

By now I had eaten by banana and drank have my Gatorade and our whole table has busted into conversation. Sean was silent most of the lunch, with the occasional laugh at a joke every now and then. He was always social, something must be troubling him.

"Okay what's wrong," I finally said. "You look depressed."

"I'm just contemplating and thinking really hard." Sean finally replied, he seemed upset that I had asked.

"Something's bothering you, I can tell," I said to him grabbing his paw, assuring him that he could tell me.

"Yes, if you have to know something is on my mind but I really do not want to talk about it." He finally managed to say, a little sprinkle of anger in his voice this time.

"Well I don't know is this is the case but try to be optimistic," I said smiling at him.

"I've already tried that and it worked a bit but god! My mom is hiding something from me and I know it and I really don't know why she would hide this kind of stuff from me." Sean said and then grabbed his backpack and left and exactly after he did the bell to end lunch rang.

By now Sean had gotten me really worried. What the hell is he talking about? I was extremely worried and I know he would not tell me; he's so stubborn some times. I knew that the rest of the day I would keep thinking about it.

"Damn," I muttered to myself as I exited the school cafeteria.

I was exactly right, the rest of the day my mind was focused on what Sean had said. It was so puzzling and I tried, various times to come up with an answer to what he was talking about but every time I failed.

When I saw Sean again before sixth period at his locker he looked really stressed. I then thought that he does overreact sometimes to little things and this could be the case here. He seemed to have gotten worse and I guess he had thought about it more and more and he came up with worse conclusions to his mysterious situation. He said he thought his mom was hiding something from him. Earlier today he said he couldn't hang out because he needed to his mom to tell him something. Maybe that's what he's trying to figure out. Maybe his mom won't tell him but he's going to try again after school, if he is, he seemed pretty confident this morning. Suddenly the bell rang and sixth period began.

School was finally over but when I met Sean by my car he was still seemed silent. We both entered my Honda.

"Okay, so what is up with you today," I asked as I started the ignition.

"I am not talking about it right now. Just take me home," Sean demanded.

I shook my head in disbelief at him. I hope this won't turn into a fight.

Sean seemed really eager; I guess he can't wait to ask his mom whatever it he needs to know.

I dropped Sean off at his house and he grabbed his backpack and quickly ran inside. He opened the door to his house and I instantly heard shouting from him. My mouth opened wide; okay something must really be wrong. I drove away extremely worried.

I pulled into the driveway of my house. I got out of my car, locked it and then grabbed my house key that was on my key chain, inserted it into the lock on the front door of my house, twisted the handle on the door and then opened it. No one appeared to be home.

I walked upstairs with backpack and tried to do homework but so much was on my mind I couldn't concentrate let alone think so I grabbed my iPod and tried to listen to music to help me relax and clear my head. I listened to soft peaceful ambient music and then I listened to I Will Posses Your Heart. Sean and I's song, I smiled when I listened to it but it got me thinking about Sean and then I couldn't stop thinking about him and his mom and what was going on so I changed the song and cleared my mind again.

I fell asleep listening to music and woke up, 3 hours had passed. It was already five o'clock. "Damn," I muttered to myself. I sat down at my desk and let out a huge yawn. I returned to doing my homework, this time with some piece of mind. I was able to finish my math, geography and French homework and luckily that was all the homework I had. I looked at the clock, six forty-nine. Wow, I thought to myself. I lay down on my bed and took a congratulation stretch for finishing my homework. I finally relaxed, kicked off my shoes and rested my head on my pillow.

My relaxation ended when my stomach started growling around seven o'clock. I exited my room and descended the stairs and into the kitchen. My mom was cooking dinner. I saw her chopping carrots.

"What are you making?" I asked.

"Salad and broccoli cheese soup," my mom replied.

"Mm, sounds good."

"Hey, Neoj, your dad wants to see you this weekend but I was wondering if you had plans with Sean." She asked me.

"No I'm open," I said.

"Do you want to stay with him?"

"Yeah that's fine," I said.

I hated having divorced parents I thought to myself as I walked upstairs.

I opened my bedroom door and then heard mom mutter, "Ah, damn it."

"Hey, Neoj," my mom yelled.

"Yeah," I replied.

"Can you run to the store and get me some broccoli?"

"Yeah, let me get my shoes," I replied.

"Well hurry," she said.

I grabbed my shoes and tied the laces and quickly ran down the stairs. My mom was digging through her purse and she grabbed her wallet and pulled out a ten dollar bill. "Buy a big bag of frozen broccoli," she said. "I know," I said and then left the house.

I got in my car, started the ignition and decided to go to the Costco that was about fifteen minuets away. I decided to take the short-cut to it through Sean's neighborhood that I had recently discovered. You enter through the front of his neighborhood and then you exit through the back entrance and you save like five minuets.

I pulled into Sean's neighborhood; I would be passing his house in about thirty seconds or so. I continued driving along the street and knew Sean's house was almost up. I would hope that I could see through their windows and see what they were doing. I Felt stalkerish but I didn't care.

I turned the radio station, found a decent song and then looked up at Sean's house. What I saw almost made my heart stop, there were two cop cars parked in the driveway of Sean's house.
