The snow is cold~ Mocha X Juno + Oakley
~6/9/17~ This is a short story about my Akihiro inu, Mocha and his mate, Juno with a side feature of, Oakley.
I laid in the snow, my fingers, paws and tail blue and turning darker from the ice. I couldn't take much more... The cold... it was going to kill me...
I couldn't, I wouldn't-- my fingers-- tail, claws and paws. I was going to lose them all, and soon.
I shakily pulled my head from my chest to peer at my claws, examining them:_ purple,_ I thought._ That's not good..._ Slowly, one inch at a time I re-curled, my eyes closing once more.
_ It was the end._
The end of everything.
The end of everything before my life had even started.
I had plans, dreams, wishes.
I was going to release a lantern with my mate, Juno.
We would kiss as our hard work floated up into the dark abyss of the night sky, lanterns would replace the stars with beautiful colours made by whom? The Akihiro's.
We would have pups together, our kin, our mark in the world-- The world--This great broken world. A world I would not exist in for much longer. I would break it by dying right here, right now.
We had names for our kids, we had things planned. Our children would meet their uncle, Oakley-- Oakley that loveable lump.
Our pups and Oakley's, our adorable kin. We would organize play dates.
We would do everything together as one big happy family!
Oakley, Juno, all our pups and Myself.
We would all go put together on family trips, holidays filled with fun.
But now... none of that would happen.
My mate-ship with Juno would never be approved... I'd never have pups, I'd never meet Oakley's cubs either...
_Juno would be a mess... and it would all be my fault... all my fault... _
I knew I shouldn't have gone off to the snow... Juno was right but I didn't listen...
Not listening... It had cost me my life...
Or so he had thought.
Slowly, Mocha's eyes slowly fluttered open. He was in a house-- a human house.
But... there was no human._ Why?_ He cracked his neck and raised his head. He got up then gave a stretch of his body like a cat. Mocha smiled seeing his fingers all the right colour and unfrozen. He looked over at the blazing fire next to him and then lowered himself back down again brushing against Juno who was next to him.
It wasn't a blanket. It was Juno! His Mate! Juno had saved him!
He opened his mouth to speak to her but then realised she was asleep and frowned. Mocha wanted to wake her but, No! He needed to say thank you, but waking up the love of his life, the one who saved him from his frozen fate. He couldn't wake her. Not just to say thank you anyway. Maybe he should wait 'til the morning.
He laid his head down on Juno's and gently licked her ear then closed his eyes.
Mocha had many questions but they would have to be answered in the morning.
Why wasn't he wet from the snow and ice?
How did he get here?
Why wasn't he dead?
Was he dead?
I felt something running across my ear but I didn't open my eyes. It was warm, wet and kinda slimy but... it felt wonderful...
I let out a soft groan deciding to open my eyes only too see Juno awake and grooming me. She was adorable
I tossed a smile up at her and reached out with my head and gently licked her across the nose.
I heard Juno purr and saw her smile back at me.
She's as beautiful as the day I met her.
I thought
"J-Juno..." Mocha greeted.
She smiled again. "Mocha, you're awake."
"Yeah," Mocha said gently brushing his head against her chest. "What happened?"
"I saved my mate from the snow, broke into an old human settlement, lit the fire annnnd kept you asleep for a few days." Juno smiled
"Your mate? Oh, who's that?"
She giggled. "You Mocha, it's you."
Mocha chuckled pushing himself up off the ground and shuffling over to her, gently pushing her onto her back and standing over his mate. "Come here." He smiled.
Juno giggled as he leaned over. She leaned forward tilting her head and they both bumped tusks and chuckled.
"Hang on," Mocha said adjusting himself. "There we go." Wasting no time, they leaned towards each other but yet again something stopped them. Oakley had made his way into the house and trotted over to them.
"Am I interrupting? Oakley asked with a childish giggle.
"Well, yes, yes you are. You're interrupting our kiss. But you can stay." Mocha chuckled.
"Good becaussssse CUDDLE TIME! I'VE BARELY SEEN YOU TWO IN DAYS!" Oakley exclaimed and laid down near them.
The two mates pulled away out of their little cuddle and made their way over to Oakley where they resumed it, Mocha laying down next to his brother and Juno joining them laying at Mocha's side.
Mocha curled his neck around and he rested his head on Oakley's paws giving off a soft rumble of happiness and pleasure. Oakley leaned over and started to gently groom Mocha, gently licking his cheek fur, cleaning it.
Juno gently pressed herself against her mate and shuffled up to join in licking him, gently licking her mates head cleaning the Akihiro.
Mocha purred loudly letting them know he was enjoying it. "We should do this all the time, just groom each other. It doesn't feel as nice when you groom yourself y'know."
Juno and Oakley nodded in agreement and the three spent the rest of their morning cuddling and grooming each other as well as the occasional Mocha trying to kiss his mate but Juno didn't really want to kiss him. His breath stunk of fish. He needed to rinse his mouth out.
