#1 of Dawn

I have no idea what I'm doing but I thought I'd try my hand on romance after 2-3 years of not touching the genre.

Also I'm well aware my writing is terrible and my grammar/punctuation is off.

I also know this is probably not gonna be finished anytime soon.

ALSO; Yes I know my chapters are short but darnit I have a short attention span.

Dawn - Chapter ~ 1

Not everybody is meant to meet another. But in this world, it is happiness incarnate. Love is the center of this world, and within every soul is the potential to love. Beings, named 'Chi', exist as a humanoid descendant to humans. They behold the ability see souls on the most intimate level. To touch, to tap into the power of everything a person is, and so much more.

Beep.

Beep.

Slam!

A female chi slams her hand down onto her alarm with considerable strength, crushing it into a mess of wires and chips. She groans as she sits up in her soft 'bed', looking tired and bedraggled. She glances down at the broken alarm clock with her forest green eyes and sighs loudly, getting out of her futon and sliding the clock into the trashcan by her said futon. She grumbles as she runs a hand through her short, boyish auburn hair and walks to her closet.

Her room is quite modern, the futon being plain and the furniture being black and brown themed. There is a kitchenette by the bathroom, and a large TV with game consoles and a Roku on the stand. There is a large window overlooking the city. She had gotten lucky those two years back, and now she lives in a one-room apartment with a tiny ass bathroom. How lovely for her. But what of her future lover? She's already a year late for finding her lover, and none of the chi in her college classes are interested in her.

She finishes getting ready, and grabs her purse. It's time for a new day of classes and work.

The day had been a usual day; lectures on the science of the floating islands, soul sciences... Everything was a blur today. Nothing made sense and she simply daydreamed. But one thing caught her ear in history; 'The Great Chi-Aunn War'. Their long lost cousins, the Aunn are beastly, dragon-like beings. They have a human form, and a terrifying draconic form. The Aunn were angered by the Chi's beauty and grace, and in jealousy their god attacked their goddess, killing her. The Chi attacked the Aunn with pure blind rage and nearly killed them off. The Aunn swore that they'd return one day with a vengeance. From that day forward the Chi lived in harmony, forgetting the troubles of war and discord.

It was a very interesting history lesson, one that she'd taken notes about. It's now night time, as she'd stayed late for study hall. The young chi weaves through the closed chi buildings and through alleyways. Up ahead is her large apartment building, and she's about to take another step when she hears shuffling behind her. The woman freezes up and looks behind her to see a pair of aqua green eyes staring back at her. She inhales sharply and slowly backs away as the figure moves closer. She soon bumps into the side of a brick building and she's about to scream when the figure presses a smooth finger to her lips.

"Shh! It's okay. I'm not gonna hurtcha'!" says a male voice, quick and hushed. "What's your name, chi? It's okay! I'll go first!" He takes his finger off of her lips and extends a hand, which has golden scales on it's top. _This is the hand of an Aunn..._she thinks to herself. She mindlessly grabs it and shakes it.

"'M names Logan. Okay, your turn!" He says. She blurts out her name.

"Lexi!" He seems satisfied with her answer, and releases her fragile hand. He nods with a smile.

"Good. So uh.. You're probably wondering what an Aunn is doing in a Chi city, eh? Um.. Well, I'm a scavenger? Sort of? I know you guys are super civilized and stuff, so my kind hunts around at night for some cool trash you leave around. N-No offense!" This is a bit much for her, and she rubs her temples. He seems to notice. "Oh! Sorry! I get it, you still don't like us and stuff, right? I'll get out of your--" She grabs his arm as he walks away, and clears her throat.

"N-No! You're fine.. Did you want to talk somewhere private? I've never met your kind before... It'd be really cool to have a chat!" she says kindly, seeming a bit timid. He looks at her with a baffled expression, before smiling and chuckling.

"Sure! Um.. How about the gardens? I always go in there... It's nice." Lexi smiles and nods at him.

"You lead the way."

She could tell right then that he was unlike any other Aunn.
