Ch 1. A new friend in College
#1 of A Lion's Life
The lion slowly began to stretch his legs as he woke up," Shit...." he muttered as he noticed his clock read 7:21; Late again.
He jumped out of his bed, rushing to get ready for school. He slid on a pair of tight black jeans as he stumbled towards the bathroom. He passed the mirror and took a quick moment to look at himself; His white fur still slightly damp from the late night shower, his crimson mane, more tangled than usual, "Damn you..." he snarled as he began to brush it roughly, trying to tame it.
After an hour of brushing, drying, and repeating he was finally satisfied with how he looked. He slid his paw across his chest gingerly, feeling the scar that remained a remnant of his hard childhood. With a saddened sigh he slipped into his bedroom; He grabbed a shirt and slid it on soon followed by a hoodie. He tied his shoes and braced himself for the crisp December air.
The lion jogged along the tree littered path, the colorful leaves crunching beneath his feet, muttering to himself, "Is it Math, or French today...?". He tilted his head down to look at his wrist, noticing it was well past 9 A.M, right as he ran into what felt like a brick wall, falling back with an oomph and hit the ground, wincing in pain.
"Sorry! I didn't see ya there!" A friendly feminine sounding voice chimed down at him as he covered his eyes with his hand, trying to block out the blinding morning sun. A soft hand grabbed his and hauled him up. he glare of the sun nearly blinded him as he was helped to his feet, "Sorry again!" The figure chimed as he rubbed his eyes.
"It's fine! I should have been watching where I was going. My names Octavious by the way." He said as looked over the cat like features of the stranger; his silver fur having random spots,his eyes a deep shade of violet.
"My name is Alex, it's a pleasure to meet you!" He said as he extended his hand, smiling softly.
Octavious returned the gesture with a firm handshake, "What species are you, if I might ask? I've never seen anything like you before!" He asked.
"Oh, I'm just a young Genet. Me and my family moved here not too long ago. But I gotta be off, I have Math today and I got lost!" He said and began to turn.
Octavious grabbed his arm as he was beginning to walk, "I think I have math too! The teachers name is Mr. Rosenblood, correct?" He asked as he let go of the genet's arm.
"Yeah! The directory said it was the way you were jogging from though." Alex stated.
"I get lost too sometimes, it's my first week here! But we are already two hours late! Maybe if we hurry we can get the notes from other students." Octavious said and began to follow the genet.
The clock in the school yard began to chime, signaling the start of a new hour. As the pair rushed up the steps of the building, the doors stood unopened; shutting out the chill of winter.
Octavious pulled the door open and strutted quickly through the halls, the genet following hastily, the lion scanned the hallway for their classroom. Stopping in front of a door labeled, Calculus 101. "Here we are, let's just quickly find a seat!" He said in a hushed tone before opening up the door.
"- Theorem states that side A plus side B, Equals side C. There for, C subtract A would equal be and vice versa. Any questions thus far? Perhaps the two who just joined us!" A mature Night fury standing behind the podium teased, his hair combed back to give him a professional look. His black suit blending in with his scales, his piercing Blue eyes staring at the whole class; making sure everyone is absorbing the knowledge.
Octavious reached over his shoulder to find his book bag only to clutch at the air. He sighed to himself and took out his phone, and began to tap away at the screen; typing everything he could hear the teacher say.
