The blue glow of a computer screen illuminated a tan and brown shepherd as he clicked his mouse and pecked away at his keyboard. He stopped for a moment, rubbing his eyes and sighing in boredom. Looking outside the window, he took notice that it had gone dark outside, the light ebbing and leaving the night cold and dark. To the shepherd, it summed up his day, a lonely and solemn Valentine's day. It wasn't that he was alone, no, he had Valentine, but his fox has been conspicuously absent all day. The flowers, the chocolates, the signed card, and smile had all been prepared for the fox, but he was no where to be found.

When the fox had first departed, the shepherd saw it as an opportunity. Not a minute after the fox's flier lifted off, the shepherd was rushing through his house. Within ten minutes, there were rose pedals spread from the front door, to the kitchen, to the bed, and lastly, to the bathroom where they were even floated along the water. He had even broke out the silly little floating candles, the ones that he thought were absolutely ridiculous, purely because he knew that Valentine found them amusing. That was hours ago, now it was six o'clock, dinner was cold, the candles had burned out, and the shepherd had sulked off to blank his mind with the blue glow of his computer screen. He kept playing the scene that had taken place about three hours ago, his fox running through the house, giving him a huge kiss, and dashing out the door with a shout of, "I'll be right back."

"I'll be right back my ass, he better have a damn good excuse," Luke mumbled to himself as he looked at the clock and sighed.

The sound of a ducted fan drive came to Luke's big ears and they perked in hope. The shepherd sat up, those same ears swiveling as they followed the sound that was nearing his house. Just like the hundred or so fliers before, it didn't slow and passed right by. The shepherd slumped down into his seat with a whimper, his ears flattening as he let out a small whine. Tired, defeated, and lonely, Luke climbed into his bed. Laying on his side, Luke blinked away a tear and let out a light sob that he had been holding in before he forced himself to sleep.

~~~~~~~
Valentine brought his flier in quietly, landing it with a small whoosh from it's ducted fan. It had taken him far longer than he thought to get his big sheppie his special present and he hopped that the big guy wasn't too upset with him. As the garage door shut behind him, the little vulpine hopped out and padded silently to the door. Opening it quietly, he found all of the house lights dimmed and the air filled with a smoky haze. There were candles spread about, most of them having burnt themselves out, and a small trail of rose pedals leading him to the kitchen.
On the kitchen table were two plates and two more burnt out candles, the wax having pooled all over the tables marble surface. Two cold steaks sat untouched, the fatty juices coagulated. Tracking the roses from the kitchen, he followed them to the cracked bedroom door and a flash of ivory vulpine fangs showed themselves as he smiled. An image of his big shepherd lover laying down with his hands behind his head, a rose in his muzzle, and a huge, drooling canine cock standing errect flashed in his mind. That's what Valentine though he would see but, upon opening the door, he found the shepherd on the bed of roses, sleeping on his side, all alone. The scent of tears was bitter in the air and it made the warmth and lust Valentine had felt just a moment before, sink to the bottom of his stomach as it was replaced by icy stones.
For the first time since Valentine realized that he was running late, it finally occurred to him how it might have affected his the big shepherd. Luke was a big guy, but he was truly a softy at heart. It made Valentine sad to see that he had accidentally hurt his shepherd lover, especially on the fox's special day, Valentine's day. A day of love and flowers and sweet words, that was what Valentine's day was supposed to be. Luke had spent all year making Valentine feel as if it was always Valentine's day, and yet, when it came to the actual day, the poor fox mucked it up so bad that his shepherd had cried. He was so focused on crafting his gift that he failed the realize the time, let alone call home and let Luke know what was going on.
Valentine stared down at Luke, watching how the shepherds chest rose and fell softly in his sleep, his big burly arms clutching a pillow for dear life. It was then that Valentine formulated a plan. He had a set of actions compiling in his head that might rescue the day after all. Padding quietly to the bathroom and quietly making his way to the wardrobe, he set his bags down and began to strip down and redress in his night clothes. On his way out, he stopped momentarily to inspect his fur and noticed that the bath tub was full of water and was still recirculating on a warming function. That part wasn't what caught his interest, it was what was floating on top of the water. Turning around and padding over to the overly large tub, he scooped up one of the objects floating in the water only to discover the little floating candles he so adored.
'He broke out the water candles today, he was really trying to pull out all the stops,' Valentine thought with a sigh. 'Boy, I really fucked this one royal, didn't I?'
Placing the candle back in the water and standing up, Valentine ran a black gloved paw through his head fur and tried to add to the list of things he could do to make up everything for Luke. Padding from the bathroom and straight into the bed, Valentine pulled the pillow from the shepherds clutches and slid into it's place. Luke's eyes cracked open just a bit, a small smile tugging at his lips as he hugged the fox in a sleepy stupor.
"Hey there," Valentine whispered into Luke's ear, making it twitch. The fox then unfurled his tongue and dug it into the big antenna dish, nibbling on the the corner and causing the shepherd to shutter and giggle.
"Nice of you to come home," Luke said, trying to lace his voice with venom and mask the fact that he was just happy to have his fox back in his arms. Call him needy, call him clingy, but he loved his fox more than the world. They were soul mates and every moment without him was like a small eternity. Every time the fox walked out that door, he died a little on the inside until he arrived back home and they were able to embrace yet again.
"I'm sorry," Valentine asked as he licked Luke on the nose, eliciting the smallest of smiles from the big guy.
"For what? It's my own fault things didn't go right. How were you supposed to know I was going to surprise you?"
"No, no, I said that I would be right back and I took longer than I thought. I should have called, it's my fault, and I'm sorry," Valentine said, resting his head on Luke's shoulder as he hugged the shepherd tight.
"You're home now, you're in my arms, and that's what I've wanted all day," Luke said as he wrapped his arms tighter around his fox. "But you better have a good reason for missing out on a candle light steak dinner, an evening in bed with me, and a bath with your little water candles."
"Oh, I have a very good reason," Valentine said, nodding against Luke's chest.
"And?"
"You'll have to wait and see now, won't you?"
"You are such a tease some times."
"Am I?" Valentine asked, a wicked vulpine smile over taking his muzzle. He grabbed Luke's sheath and gave it a squeeze, making the shepherd tense momentarily under his deft paws before he quickly let go.
"Yes, you most certainly are, but, you're my tease," Luke replied, kissing the vulpine on his nose. The fox's only response was a knowing smile. After a few moments of silence, Valentine spoke up again.
"So, can I still get that steak dinner?" The fox asked with a silly smile.
"Uh-huh," Luke mumbled behind closed eyes.
"And my bath with water candles?"
"Uh-huh." Luke said again, nodding his head.
"And my evening in bed with a studly shepherd?"
"Studly? Are you sure you have the right boyfriend?" Valentine punched Luke in the arm, making the shepherd laugh.
"Okay, okay. Well, it's not evening anymore," Luke said, his voice tapering off.
"Yes or no?" Valentine said, smiling as he groped Luke again. The shepherd tensed and smiled at his fox.
"Most definitely yes. Top or bottom?"
"What do you think?" Valentine said with a sly grin. He grabbed Luke's shoulders and fell to his side, pulling the shepherd on top of him. "After messing up today, I want to make it up to you."
Luke pushed himself up off of the fox, looking at him with a quizzical brow. "Make it up to me? I already said..." Luke tried before Valentine silenced him with a kiss.
"Luke?"
"Yeah?"
"Shut up," Valentine said, smiling at his love. With that, Luke said nothing more and instead started to strip himself bare. When not a single item of clothing covered the shepherd, he started on his fox, first slipping his hand under Valentine's shirt and then slowly running his hands through the velvety white fur of his stomach. Valentine giggled at Luke's touches, being mildly ticklish, but he enjoyed the reverence and gentleness that his shepherd always gave him when it came to nights in bed. Things always started slow but passionate, building into something amazing and shared only between them... and sometimes Nate, but he was off at school now, leaving just Luke and Valentine in their new house.
Luke's hands lurched higher, suddenly groping Valentine's slight chest and causing the fox let slip a quite moan. That wasn't enough for Luke so he gave Valentine's right nipple a slight tweak and watched as the fox writhed and squealed beneath his fingers. Just as sudden was the absence of Luke's hands as he pulled Valentine's shirt up and over his head, forcing his arms above his head in order to get the shirt off. As soon as the bothersome garment was tossed aside, Luke grabbed Valentine's arms and kept them pinned above the fox's head as he leaned in with a smile on his muzzle, kissing the fox. No askance was needed, Valentine's muzzle automatically parted to allow Luke's tongue in and in it went.
There was no battle of tongues, no pushing into him so hard that it forced his head into pillows, no, it this was something tender shared only between true loves. The taste of fox and shepherd mingled together as tongues gently rolled against on another, feeling each other and sharing love. Breaking the kiss, Luke kissed and nibbled his way up Valentine's muzzle and back to his ears before following the trail of pink hearts down his neck and over his actual heart. When Luke was there, he gave a light kiss to the driving force of his love before pulling back his muzzle and sitting back a little, shifting positions to the side of Valentine. Switching both of Valentine's arms into just one hand, Luke switched his attention to one of two sources filling the air with musk, Valentine's arousal.
The fox had become so aroused that he had slipped from his sheath and his erection was already poking out of the waistband of his shorts. Luke grinned at the site and resisted the urge to laugh, Valentine had always been the most randy of the two of them. Even now, the fox has beaten him into a fully aroused state, standing full mast and seven inches. Luke, on the other hand, was only a half hard six inches, a majority of himself still stuck in his sheath. Dipping his head low over Valentine's cock, Luke inhaled his loves scent, enjoying the spicy overtones of aroused fox that threatened to over power the main scent. It was a scent that he had become used to but he knew that he would never grow tired of it, such is the joy of love. The only thing that could top this scent, other than just being around the fox, was being able to taste it.
His nostrils full of fox, Luke's tongue lashed out and licked the head of Valentine's length, tasting the arousal of his fox for the first time that day, which was all too long in both of their opinions. Finally releasing Valentine's arms, Luke picked up the fox's rear and stripped him of his shorts, leaving him bare, in all his glory. After moving about, Luke slid in between Valentine's legs and continued his ministrations upon Valentine's arousal, much to the fox's enjoyment. Long moans and short gasps issued forth from the fox as Luke's tongue repeatedly dragged it away along his length, licking slowly from his sheath, up his growing knot, and then all the way to his drooling tip where Luke would lap of all the pre from his productive fox. All too quickly, having gone more than twenty four hours without sex, Valentine's found himself being rushed headlong toward orgasm.
Feeling the fox grow increasingly quiet and tense, Luke knew what that Valentine was close. Rather than backing off and allowing Valentine to reign himself in, Luke took Valentine fully into his muzzle, sink down until his lips brushed against Valentine's vulpine knot. Valentine shuddered beneath him and Luke pulled back, sucking hard and working over Valentine's throbbing red length with his tongue. Valentine's hands shot to the back of Luke's head and tried to pull the shepherd off, desperate to drag out his adventure, but the shepherd would have none of it. Luke sunk down as fast as he could, squeezing Valentine's knot into his muzzle.
Valentine felt his knot slip into Luke's muzzle and that was all the incentive that his body needed to start firing roped of hot vulpine spunk into the back of his shepherds throat. Shot after shot of cum started the slide into Luke's stomach as Valentine's cock bucked and throbbed in his muzzle and both fox and shepherd were moaning in abject pleasure. As Valentine's orgasm faded into an afterglow, Luke slowly pulled himself off Valentine, slurping up saliva and cum before sucking briefly on the pointed head of Valentine's length. The fox let forth one of those little squeals before Luke finally pulled back, licking his chops. Valentine's eyes were sealing shut in bliss as he recovered from the orgasm Luke had taken from him, making the shepherd laugh as he moved from between Valentine's legs, but only for a moment.
Valentine's ear twitched at the momentary shift of weight on the bed, followed by the sound of an opening drawer, the click of a bottle top, and the squelch of lube being applied to something. Valentine didn't have to crack an eye to know what was going on, but he did anyway just because he loved seeing his shepherd so aroused and knowing it was all for him. Finding each other in the after life had been the best thing to ever happen to them. Next in line was Micheal giving everyone a second chance at life. They may have been set down more than a hundred years after their deaths, but they were living actually lives again, lives that would be spent with one another rather than dieing alone.
Speaking of soul mates, Luke was now crawling over Valentine, bringing his slick length to Valentine's rear as he pulled the fox's legs up and wrapping them around his waist. Prodding Valentine's puckered entrance, Luke teased his fox until he heard a very un-fox-like whine and whimper come from Valentine. With that, Luke gave a firm push and sunk all the way into Valentine, right down to his knot. The yip that followed was definitely foxy.
Luke didn't waist anytime, drawing his cock out to the tip before sliding it slowly back into Valentine. Luke's thrusts remained slow and tender, pulling out to the tip and sliding all the way down to his forming knot. He never increased his pace, keeping his hips slow and steady as he slid and out of Valentine. Luke gave a tender kiss to Valentine, locking lips with Valentine, but it was something more sensuous, something filled with love rather than lust. Luke was bottling up his lust and keeping it contained so that he could give Valentine a night of tender love.
Things continued at this pace for what seemed to be quite a while, Luke showering Valentine with smiles in return for moans, tender strokes in return for giggles, sweet words for loving looks. Things were different now that they were together, desperate fuck sessions were no longer as common as they once were. When you're with the one you love, you make time to show them that love, not cram it into a few minutes of rapid and desperate thrusts. Mates for life meant pushing the world aside, if just for a little while, and spending it with the one you loved most. Whether is was spending that time having amazing sex back, sipping Mai Tais on a beach, or even just curling up with one another and watching a movie, it was about just being together. Tonight, that was what Luke was doing.
Luke's cock pumped in and out of Valentine's rear with that ever constant, slow pace, but as with all good things, his pleasure was rapidly speeding towards it's inevitable peak. Moans were now all but streaming constantly from Luke's mouth, his thrusts growing in power as they assaulted Valentine's prostate. Harder and harder, Luke pushed his knot against Valentine's rear until with a grunt, he slipped himself into Valentine's rear. The feeling of Valentine's velvety ring slipping over his knot was all that it took to send Luke over the edge. Moaning loudly as the first shots of cum started to fill Valentine, Luke ground his knot particularly hard against Valentine's prostate, forcing the fox into another orgasm. Valentine shrieked, clamping his legs tightly around Luke as his already sensitive nerves were again lit on fire by another orgasm, cum firing out and coating his stomach in sticky white essence.
Luke looked down upon his fox, smiling at the silly face Valentine was making as he road out the last bits of his orgasm, chucking on the inside. The faces that Valentine made were a source of great amount of amusement to Luke, but he always refrained from laughing lest the fox try to stop making them. When Valentine did open his eyes, it was to the all to common sight of his smiling shepherd, his brown eyes twinkling as they stared down in love. Valentine couldn't help smiling whenever he saw his shepherd smile, it was infectious and it was almost always directed just at him. Silently, Luke dipped low and kissed Valentine again, waiting until he felt his lungs were about to turn blue before breaking it.
"Happy Valentine's day," Luke panted.
"Yes, happy 'me' day," Valentine answered, snuggling into his big shepherd and preparing to wait out the huge knot buried in his rear. Twenty minuted passed before Valentine felt Luke's knot had shrunk small enough for him to extract himself from Luke's crotch, but Valentine's loving strokes along his muzzle had all but lulled the big shepherd to sleep, his arms and legs wrapped tightly around Valentine as he smiled.
"Luke?"
"Hmm?" Luke asked in a dreamy voice right before Valentine's stomach growled rather loudly. One of Luke's ears perked up in an odd angle as he heard that sound and he opened an eye.
"Not that I don't enjoy staying in bed with you, but I'm STARVING!"
~~~~~~

Luke stood in the kitchen, his big tail swaying happily over his naked rear as the microwave hummed away, reheating the two dinners that he had prepared hours ago. There was the quiet sound of a flush from the master bathroom and Luke smirked, knowing all to well what poor Valentine was doing. A few more seconds passed before the click of claws on tile came to Luke's ears moments before Valentine wrapped his arms around the shepherd and tucked his muzzle into the crook of his neck.

"Mmm, steak smells good," Valentine said as he hugged his shepherd and forced him to sway.

"Mmm-hmm," Luke mumbled back, his tail wagging faster and bumping into the fox's sheath.

"Keep doing that and you're going to have to help a fox bury his bone," Valentine chuckled as he ground his sheath against Luke's rear.

"And that's a bad thing?" Luke answered back with a laugh of his own.

"I don't know, do you want to eat steak or sausage?" Valentine asked, walking away to the dinner table.

"If I recall, I just had sausage" Luke answered as he took the dinners out of the microwave and sauntered to the dinner table. He placed a dish in front of Valentine and then sat himself directly across from his fox. Both of them were salivating at the smell of the steak. Valentine quickly tore into his food, having not eaten since lunch. The two of them devoured their meal quickly and finished with forks clanking noisily on their plates and a stair across the table. After a moment, Valentine pushed back his chair and sauntered over to Luke, pulling his chair back and straddling his lap as he sat down.

Wordlessly, but with a sly smile and a twinkle in his eye, Valentine wrapped his arms around Luke's neck and initiated another kiss. Turning his head into the kiss and getting Luke to do the same, Valentine pushed against Luke and licked at his lips. Luke parted his muzzle and allowed Valentine tongue into his muzzle. The powerful, musky taste of Valentine, that spicy vulpine essence, mingled in Luke's muzzle combined with the subtle overlay of steak and it caused the shepherd to lick his chops when the kiss was broken.

"I love it when you do that," Luke said, wrapping his arms losly around Valentine's waist.

"And I love it when you tell me so," Valentine replied, brining his forehead to Lukes so he could look the shepherd in the eyes, Valentine loved to get up close and personal.

"So, does my Fox want the rest of his Valentine's day gift?" Luke asked, pinching Valentine's rear.

"There's more?"

"Uhm-hmm, your candle light bath with me. What do you say?"

"I don't know, can I think about it?" Valentine's teased.

"No," Luke answered back, grabbing Valentine tightly and standing. His picked up his fox and carried him like a child towards the master bedroom. Bursting through the doorway, Luke detoured right, making a 'B' line for the bathroom and the warm water of the bath tub. Upon testing the water and finding it just right, he stepped into the two person infinity tub, moved a few of the floating candles out of the way, and sunk graciously into the luxurious waters that awaited him and his fox. Valentine made no complaint as he sank into the deep, relaxing waters of the tube. In fact, he rather liked the way it eased some of the pain in his still tender tail hole. As Luke further relaxed into the tub, his back resting in what could only be described as some sort of under water lounge chair, he sank to about chest level in the water, the rippled lapping at him just below his ribcage. The water for Valentine, however, only came up to to to his belly button. That was until Luke got comfortable, after which he turned Valentine around and slotted the fox between his legs.

Thumbing an inset button on the tub, the lights dimmed in the room and soft, romantic music began to play. Valentine gasped in amazement as the program Luke had written took control of the bathroom, creating a soft ambiance that was rare in their house. Light flickered throughout the bathroom as the candles, barely burning now, provided most of the light for the darkened bathroom. Then, much to Valentine's surprise, Luke's paws set themselves upon Valentine's shoulders and this thumbs began working the muscles underneath. Valentine moaned as his head dropped forward, relaxing into the tender message from Luke.

"Oh, that feels so good. Where's you learn to do that?" Valentine mumbled as tension eased from his muscles.

"I asked Nate to teach me right before he left, I've been waiting to surprise you. I love you, Happy Valentine's Day. I'm sorry for acting the way I did when you got back, I shouldn't have been angry."

"No, I already told you that I took longer than I though. It was my fault."

"Lets just agree that it was the both of us, okay?"

"Okay."

"Where did you go anyway?"

"Oh, I forgot," Valentine said before he slipped out of the tub, disappearing into his wardrobe. Picking up the bag that he had brought in with him earlier, Valentine removed the gift that he had crafted for Luke from it's little box and gathering it into his palm. "Val? What are you doing?" Luke asked, leaning on the side of the tub and trying to watch his fox rummaged around out of sight.

"Close your eyes and hold out your hand," Valentine replied, waiting a second before walking back to the tub. Sitting there, eyes closed and hands outstretched, Luke waited like his love had asked. Sinking back in the tub and sitting across from Luke, Valentine placed his gift in Luke's hand with the command to open his eyes. Opening his eyes, Luke examined the silver chain in resting in his palms, letting it hang from his finger and discovering the heart hanging on one end. When Luke looked back at his fox, he noticed that Valentine was wearing one now too.

"This is why I was late, it took me a bit longer to make them than I thought, but the silversmith was a great help."

"You made these?"

"Yes. Well, not the chains, but I made the hearts myself. I made them special, just for me and you. When they get close, they do something unique," Valentine said, bringing the heart of his necklace towards Luke's. Suddenly, as the hearts neared each other, they quickly flew together, the tips clicking together magnetically and formed a vague shape closely resembling the mathematical sign for infinity, the sideways eight.

"See? When they get close, they form an infinity but separate they are just hearts," Valentine said, moving in closer to kiss Luke on the lips. "You found me and filled the hole in my heart that kept me trapped. You found something broken and put it back together, you made me whole, and for that, I will always love you, " Valentine whispered before completing the kiss and wrapping his arms around Luke's neck. When the kiss broke, Luke hugged Valentine close and fought back tears as he nuzzled his fox.

"It's perfect."

Luke had to let got of Valentine for just a moment so that he could place the necklace around his neck. Even once the heart was wresting on his chest, it's bright silver contrasting with his dark brown chest fur, he couldn't resist briefly running a finger along the charm. When he did look back up at Valentine, a tear did escape him, but he was smiling the whole time. They kissed again, another loving exchange of saliva and when the kiss was completed, Valentine drew back just a bit and Luke licked his nose.

"I love you," the shepherd said with a tender smile, it was from the heart.

"I love you too," Valentine answered, turning around and using his shepherd as a backrest. The big shepherd wrapped his arms around Valentine, and Valentine set his hands on those arms, caressing the thick fur as they embraced in the tub. The steady breathing of Luke started to lull Valentine to sleep before the shepherd spoke up.

"So, a good Valentine's day?"

"The best," Valentine replied leaning his head back to smile briefly at Luke. As his mind relaxed and he ebbed into sleep, one he knew his shepherd wouldn't allow to go on all night, he felt his attention drawn to to the corner of the bath tub. It was then that he realized what he was staring at, one of the floating candles as still burning, even all these hours later. That candle was determined to give a bit of light to the dark room, to be a beacon to all who saw it, to never go out, to never go away, and it existed purely to bring a smile to a certain fox's face. In most respects, that candle... it was Luke.
