Quillhog
#2 of Poetry
Just a bit of fun. Written 2016.
Once upon a bit of never
There was a canine that thought himself clever
He decided to spend his idle time
Befriending a lonely porcupine
The rodent sat in his cozy den
Writing on paper with his quill pen
The puppy tried to start to play
But the porcupine just wrote away
Whatcha doing; is it fun?
Why don'tcha come out, then we can run
I like to bark and roll and jump
Don't just sit there like a hairy lump
We can play in the soft, green grass
So come on out and get off your
Hey, whatcha got there, looks like a stick
I thought it was hair, but it's kinda thick
Is it magic, making those marks
I've seen those things outside parks
If we were there you could throw that thing
And I could run after it and bring
Or hey, lemme give it a smell
And of course I'll taste it as well
And I can chew it up, you see
So then it'll smell just like me
And you'll always know that it's mine
What do you think friend porcupine?
Chewing's a basic canine habit
Come on now, just let me have it
You prickly pig, I won't ask again
I'm not leaving until you give in
I'll wait steadfast all day long
Dogs are known for standing strong
Doesn't matter if it starts snowing
Hey Mr Squirrel, where ya going
That's a fluffy tail, can I have a smell
Of course I'll have to taste it as well
The porcupine sighed, "Such a silly dog.
You can't have my pen, I'm a quill hog."
