A creation myth of the world of Saffron.

Starting a series on the world of Ocus, and where better to start than with a creation myth. This is one variation of one of the many tales as one might find in the world of Ocus regarding its origin. Like all creation myths it is complete hogwash and also totally true.

In ages long past, before there were things, there was No Thing. No Thing grew tired of being nothing and there being nothing. And No Thing bore The Two.

The Two were the day and the night, the true and the false, the sun and the moon, the cat and the dog. Which was which changed based on their mood.

From the Two came the World and all that is in it. The mountains and streams, oceans and forests, the birds in the sky, fish in the sea, and the beasts of the land. And they bore the First Pantheon.

The gods of the pantheon were given dominion over the world. And they brought forth the many races into it. They led the world through peace and prosperity for a thousand years.

But each of the First Pantheon grew to despise the others. They commanded their followers raise up armies against the others. They created terrible monsters and powerful weapons. Their champions battled in glory only to inevitably perish in futility at hands of another.

Only one of the Pantheon looked upon the war and saw it for the horror it was. Ocus, the Just, saw the death and destruction and futility of it all. Ocus, with the help of The Two, tricked their siblings into a trap. Each of the Pantheon was cast into the heavens and trapped in a sphere of crystal. They were forced to wander the sky in distant view of the world they once had. To forever witness what they had lost.

Ocus was given sole dominion over the world, and the world in turn was named for Ocus. Ocus had brought justice to the world.
