Growvember

November 5th

The next day I had a lot on my mind. First, I noticed I hadn't grown, or barely grown at all, but there was definitely something different about all of us. It wasn't every day you woke up with the start of a six pack on your stomach and better muscularity. Some of the giants who were already in shape were practically buff at this point. Was what ever growing us moving on to a new stage and going to make us massively buff?

I immediately imagined myself as some kind of hulking abomination with a tiny head between the shoulders, quickly shaking it from my mind. Sure, I didn't mind being in shape, but not THAT big!

The next thing to concern me was yesterday still and the voices Chris and I heard. I was conflicted on if I should tell someone or not. I sighed and reaffirmed my choice. Not now, not yet. If I could somehow find the two and turn them in, then there wouldn't be the need for a panic.

Chris apparently must've been thinking the same thing, since he didn't show up to meet me this morning, or perhaps he cornered Kevin. Either way, I was on my own to try and get to know my other fellow giants better.

The first one I talked to was a yellow lizard named Kyle. He had worked fast food before the growth happened, and didn't mind it the first day. But he was fired on the second day of missed work, despite his condition. I told him I was sorry, and just chit chatted about being giant and some events in our past.

"So, you think we'll ever get back to normal?" He asked towards the end of the conversation.

"I wouldn't doubt it. We've been making a lot of leaps and bounds in technology and medicine lately, so I can see it happening." I had already confirmed Kyle wasn't one of the voices.

"Yeah. When it does, I'll be on a job hunt again." He sighed and rubbed the back of his head.

"Hey! Who wouldn't want to hire a former giant?" I laughed and patted him on the shoulder before heading off.

The next one to talk to actually found me. It was my coworker Mary. The shrew was pretty embarrassed at first since we worked together and now saw each other in the nude. I explained how I kinda got use to it now, so for her to not worry. She even said how the boss came to visit her. I was surprised at that, telling her he visited me too. Apparently the guy was really a softy after all.

I said my goodbyes and walked around some more, meeting up with an elk. It was kinda intimidating at first with such huge horns on a massive fur, stretching up into the sky. It was more surprising how forward he was and friendly. I also couldn't shake the feeling he was eyeing me up the way he was looking at me. The second I talked about my girlfriend though, he seemed to immediately lose interest and went on to one worded answers.

The final one I ended up talking to was the bear from the news station. Even as a fellow giant, he towered over the rest of us, almost two heads higher than me as I had to look up. And with the added muscle under his usual layers of fat, he looked like a tank. I could feel my nose twitching as I talked to him.

"So, Ronald right?" I asked craning my head up.

"Do I know you?" I could tell he sounded like a normally hush person, but with his size, it rumbled in my ears.

"Uh, no. Sorry. I actually saw you on channel 7 news. You're a lot bigger in person." I smiled, trying to break the ice.

"Oh...I asked them to not film, but looks like they didn't care. Great." He sighed, starting to turn away.

"Hey wait! What's wrong?" I stepped in front of him, not wanting to end this too soon.

"Sorry, I'm not really a talker. I like to be left alone, even before I grew. The spotlight isn't for me." He mumbled, trying to walk by me once more.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you or anything. I just want to try and get to know people better hear is all." I was being sincere, which seemed to finally get to him.

"No, it's me. I loved my quiet life. Went to work, then disconnected from society. Now I feel I'm in the spotlight being so big, and apparently the biggest except some roo in Europe as maybe a head over me."

I couldn't help but give a whistle at that. That roo had to be at least near 70 feet tall then.

"Yeah, hopefully more furs will get bigger than me and draw away the attention. I wouldn't be surprised if there were news crews outside of here trying to film me as best as they could."

"Or all of us..." I had never thought of the news crews filming us this whole time. But chances are the government officials were making sure to keep them as far away as possible.

"Look, I didn't mind the chat, but I just wanna go sit for awhile alone, okay?" He started to walk away once more, and I decided to let him go.

"Yeah, it was nice talking to you Ronald." I called after, slumping my shoulders. I felt bad for the guy really. He was really out of his usual environment.

I decided to search for Christ at this point, seeing my search was being fruitless. Hopefully he had some better news. No one I spoke to or listened in on sounded like the two furs in the woods.

I was near the edge of the encampment when I noticed there was a significant increase in military force outside the the makeshift boundaries. More soldiers and black trucks were definitely populating the area than when we first got here. I decided to head towards the front where the mobile labs were to ask for some information.

I stopped when I got close enough for a soldier to hold up his hand for me to stop. I squatted down, just asking what the increase of force was for.

"Don't worry bout it. We just had a few normal people trying to sneak in at night. Some believing your condition is contagious and trying to catch it themselves. Its more for their safety than yours." The german shepard answered.

Well, that did make sense. If anyone was trying to sneak in, and we didn't pay enough attention, there could be a fatality on our hands.

I thanked the soldier and went back towards the others. Actually spotting Chris talking to Kevin. I headed towards them, but once Kevin saw me, he forced his finger into the puma's chest and stormed off.

"What was that about?" I asked.

"He doesn't like you. Not sure why. And he was spouting more nonsense bout the government again." Chris rolled his eyes and sighed.

"What caused it this time?"

"The extra vehicles and troops around."

"Ah, I actually spoke with a soldier, apparently some of the normal furs are trying to sneak in because they think our condition is contagious." I explained what the soldier said to me.

"Ah, makes sense. Wouldn't be surprised if its a dare, or the news trying to get in." A bit of relief seemed to go over his face.

"I also got to talk to that massive bear, Ronald. Man, he can be really intimidating when you are close to him, but apparently he hates the attention he's getting." I shrugged as we started to walk.

"Really? I don't mind it, probably the most we'd get in our lifetimes." Chris shrugged.

"Some people just don't want it. I feel bad for him." We sat down mostly away from the denser part of the group.

"So, did you hear anyone sound like yesterday?" He whispered to me, making sure no one heard.

"No sadly. No one seems to match. Could they have been trying to disguise their voices last night, just in case?" I pondered out loud.

"I don't think anyone would think that far ahead. But maybe? I don't know." He fell back onto his back, looking up at the sky. "They need to give us more things to do."

"They could give us a truck and we play a messed up version of spin the bottle." I laughed. Chris snorted.

"Don't give anyone else here that idea. They just might!"

We both laughed again as I laid back as well, just trying to relax. Maybe it was just me being hopeful, or maybe my actual instincts were kicking in, but I felt tomorrow something big was going to happen.
