#5 of Lament of the Moon Part 3

Just an hour before sunset that day, Hazard found himself at the farthest district of the city, where a high mountain called Mt. Malek resided peacefully, far from the city urban loudness and chaos. He paid the cab driver that drove him there and then turned around to look up at the mountain, so high and mighty. He took a quick look around to find a way to get up there and found and long stairway that went up the mountain, a very long one. "Does he really live up there?" Hazard wondered to himself, but there was only one way to find out, as he start walking up the stairs and climbing up the mountain.

A good half-hour and some later, and Hazard reached the end of the stairway, getting extremely awestruck by what laid before him at a wide clear grounds in the middle of the mountain. A big traditional-Japanese-style house stood there, complete with a flourished garden surrounding the front side of the mansion, with a small clear pond that had colorful fishes swimming in it while the relaxing sound of an artificial mini-waterfall stream the clean mountain waters down its surface. "Niiice..." Hazard whistled, very impressed. It was like a little slice of paradise hidden within this otherwise noisy city. He didn't come here to admire the scenery, though, but rather to meet the owner of this said serene haven. He passed by the Shinto-like gates and immediately saw someone sitting by the entrance of this big house. The large figure had his back turned, calmly sitting by the front yard, wearing a dark-blue Yutaka (a Japanese robe-like dress for males), and was trimming a small potted Bonsai tree and enjoying the breeze.

"Long time no see, Barzard," the mansion owner spoke in a deep, calm and very familiar voice, his back still turned to the wolf.

"Yeah," Hazard replied with a small smile, as the lion looked over his shoulder to smile back at his wolf friend. "Nice place you got here, by the way. The stairway is a real pain, though."

"Thank you, but you could've used the elevator to get up here," Seif said and pointed at the built-in elevator located not too far from the stairs. Hazard made a stupid face, wanting to kick himself for not noticing it sooner. "Come, sit," the lion invited him to come over and sit next to him. The wolf complied and walked over to him, sitting down behind Seif's broad back and resting his own back on it, breathing out softly as he leaned himself against the lion.

"It's good to see you, Seif," Hazard softly said. "How long has it been?"

"Too long to remember. But I'm glad you're doing well," Seif answered, continuing in trimming his Bonsai tree as the wolf leaned on his back. "How did you find me?"

"Heh, you know me, I have my own ways. But you knew I was in this city, didn't you?"

"You have your ways, I have mine," Seif said, making Hazard chuckle. "Anything significant happened?"

"Nah, it's been a quiet couple of decades, but I'm sensing something big coming up soon," Hazard proclaimed, his thick tail wagging about lazily next to the lion's thin one.

"Indeed," Seif rumbled, examining the small tree closely and checking out the loose branches.

"Still with your Bonsai hobby, eh?" Hazard noted when he saw him so occupied with his tree.

"It helps me relax," Seif stated, cutting out a branch with the small scissor.

"I bet. Especially with all the action you're getting recently," Hazard smirked and puzzled the lion. "You met her, didn't you? Sasuga, the kirin. Twice." The wolf continued and Seif put the Bonsai tree on the ground, finished with it, but he didn't answer back, which Hazard took as a 'yes'. "Takes you way back, doesn't it?"

"Yes."

"She reminds me of Mirna. Remember her?"

"I cannot forget," Seif uttered wistfully. "Do you think... she's the same egg?"

"If she is, man, it would be a miraculous circle of fate. I'm almost positive about it, though. I can feel it in my bones."

"I feel the same way."

"If it is indeed the case, we have to protect her. Someone is planning something bad to her and we have to stop it," Hazard said in high resolve and Seif couldn't agree more. "Thanks for saving Sasuga yesterday. You're a big hero in her eyes now."

"It is the least I could do after what Grall did. I owe it to her, and Mirna," Seif modestly said.

"Yeah... I just feel much better now, knowing that you're around," the wolf remarked with a calm smile.

"I always got your back, Barzard," Seif said, as Hazard nodded gladly, resting his back further on the lion's warm broad back. "Care to join me for dinner? I have excellent cherry sake, too," Seif then kindly offered.

"That sounds great, but afraid I can't. Have to go back, can't leave Sasuga alone for too long," Hazard sadly declined when he noticed that it was getting dark and got up on his feet, walking away. "I'll see you around, lion. Don't be a stranger now. I'm sure Sas would like to meet you again. You've left quite the impression on her, after almost running her over. That wasn't intentional, was it?" Hazard smirked as he looked back at Seif.

"Don't be a fool, Barzard." Seif shook his head.

"Heh, right. Well, take care. Oh, and I'll be sure to take the elevator down this time." Hazard bid his leonine friend farewell and was heading to the elevator, but Seif called out to him all of the sudden.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you. Say hello to Panja when you see him, Barzard," Seif said with a tiny leer, as Hazard's fur stood up and his face paled when he heard that.

"Hoo boy..."

That night, when the lights of the city illuminated the streets, a motorcycle stopped in front of the building where Sasuga and Hazard lived. The rider turned off the engine of his slick and shiny Harley Davidson and got off of it. He was tall and large, easily over 7ft, and apparently very heavy muscled under that black leather jacket he was wearing, the zipper hardly able to close his wide barreled chest, which showed a deep red shirt underneath it. His lower half was as thick as the upper one, powerful brawny legs under those posh black denim pants, ending with two huge and heavy fully-white bare feline feet. His long, thin white tail, with a fuzzy furry white tip, swayed about as he took off his helmet, letting his long, overflowing snow-white mane hang loosely over his strapping shoulders, and revealing his attractively handsome leonine face, a solid square muzzle and a thick white lion-beard covering his chin. The white-furred lion tilted his head up and his ocean-blue eyes gleamed as he looked at the buildings apartment from bellow.

"Found you," a wide toothy grin spread across the white lion's wide muzzle.

Meanwhile, Sasuga was in Hazard's apartment, being a good girl and doing what she had been told to do. She was getting tired of waiting for the wolf, however, and not even the TV which she was watching was entertaining her.

"What's taking him so long?" she yawned, stretching her cramped arms. She hoped nothing bad had happened to him, like being attacked by those demons. She thought about calling him, but she didn't want to disturb him in whatever he was doing. "Well, maybe a missed call would do..." she figured a missed call wouldn't hurt and was about to speed-dial him through her cell phone, when the doorbell rang right before she pressed the button. "Finally!" The kirin jumped off of the couch and rushed over to open the front door. "Hey, where the hell where youuu-eeeeeep!" Sasuga shrieked in a huge surprise when she opened the door and found two huge brawny arms wrap themselves around her body, lift her up high and squeeze the air out of her against a hefty large body.

"Haaaaz! I've finally found you! Oh God, I've been looking all over for you! I've missed you so MUCH!" the white furred beefy lion loudly and happily exclaimed, hugging the kirin so tightly and firmly, without even looking who it was he was snuggling.

"Eeek! No! Let go of me! I didn't do anything! Please don't hurt me!" Sasuga yelped and squirmed haplessly, pounding her fist against the beast's broad chest vainly. It was like hitting a brick wall of hard muscles.

"Eh? Oops! Oh fuck! Wrong person!" the white furred lion took a good look at who he was holding between his arms and realize his mistake. "I'm so sorry, lady! I thought you were someone else! Don't be scared! I won't hurt you!" he panicked and tried to calm her down, notably still hugging her up so closely. Sasuga settled down a bit and looked up at him, and her scaly cheeks turned green instantly.

'Oh shit! He's GORGEOUS!' was the first notion that crossed her mind, and she was pretty much correct. His strikingly handsome manly lion face mesmerized her for a few seconds and her body froze up, being pressed so closely against his incredibly muscular frame. She's never been this close to a man before, and praise the heavens, his chest felt so wonderfully sexy and firm against her palms, which she furtively wanted to caress.

"Sorry if I startled you, Miss. Let me put you down first," he apologized again with a big smile and placed her hooves on the floor, Sasuga still blushing deeply. "I must've gotten the wrong address. But I was pretty darn sure this was the right one! Don't tell me he already moved out! Isn't this Hazard Barzard's place?" the lion mumbled while checking a small notepad from his jacket.

"Huh? O-Oh! Yes, yes! You got the right place! This is Hazard's apartment! I'm his neighbor, I live just next door," Sasuga quickly pointed it out when she realized what was going on. For a second back there, she thought he was one of the bad guys and wanted to kidnap her. Although, being kidnapped by this steaming hunk wouldn't be such a bad idea, her mind toyed.

"AWESOME! Is he around?!" the lion happily rumbled and let himself inside.

"Umm, not at moment. He's out right now, but he should be home any minute now. I'm waiting for him too, so you're welcome to stay here, i-if you want," Sasuga muttered, checking him out from behind and thinking how his backside looked as good as his front. She also noticed the word 'WANDERLUST' printed on the back of his jacket, which she found pretty catchy yet suggestive.

"Don't mind if I do! Thanks, Miss...?" he gladly accepted and inquired for the kirin lady's name.

"Sa-Sasuga, Sasuga Temple!"

"Panja Lowefang! A pleasure to meet you, Sasuga!" he introduced himself and shook her hand with both of his big ones, making Sasuga gulp by how big they were.

"L-Lowefang?" she then blinked astoundingly. This couldn't be a coincidence, could it? And now when she thought about it, he did look uncannily similar to Seif. In fact, if it weren't for the clean, full white fur and the slightly different mane getup, they almost looked identical!

"Yup! And heeeey... you're a kirin! Holy crap! I haven't seen one in ages! That's amazing!" Panja then noticed after taking off his leather jacket, showing him wearing a sleeveless deep red shirt that showed off his beefy brawny shoulders and arms, and also sported a pair of suspenders strapped up to his pants.

"Oh, yes. Actually, I think I'm the only one around, I think..." Sasuga muttered, still not getting over how attractive Panja was every time she eyes him, but then she noticed him catching her staring. Actually, he was downright staring at her intently and up close, which made the kirin blush brightly and extremely awkward. "Uhh... i-is something wr-wrong?"

"Hrmm? Oh! No, nothing! You're just reminding me of someone I knew a long time ago!" Panja replied with a hearty laugh. "You're much cuter, though!" he then remarked with a grin and Sasuga's face almost popped from blushing. She didn't know how to react and just looked away shyly, but much to her relieve, the sound of a key going through front door knob indicated the return of the golden wolf.

"Sorry I'm late, Sas. But I hope you're hungry! I brought Thai food, so I hope you like..." Hazard was saying as he entered the apartment and he took one look at the living room and saw the unexpected visitor, as his eyes widened up and his fur stood up on its end. "OH SHIT!"

"HAAAZ!!" Panja lunged out at him a second before Hazard was able to flee away and wrapped his big arms around the wolf, bear-hugging snuggly. "Holy shit, it's really you! I've been looking all over for ten fucking years! I missed you so MUCH! You elusive sneaky wolfy!" the white lion elatedly expressed as he squeezed Hazard into his chest, rubbing cheeks with him adoringly.

"Gah! Leggo of me, you big beastly lug! You're the squeezing the air out of me!" Hazard yapped out and tried to break free from the big feline's powerful hug, but to no avail.

"Not a chance! I won't let you go this time! You're not getting away! EVER!" Panja purred and gave the wolf's face some loving slurps with his lion tongue, making Hazard squirm feebly.

"Ack! Goddamit, Panja! Cut it out!" Hazard griped and kept struggling while Panja wasn't having any of it and kept snuggling and licking his dear wolf fondly, as Sasuga watched that unexpected scene in complete bewilderment. As confused as she was, she couldn't help but break a little smile on her face. She didn't know what was going on exactly, but she felt that whatever it was, things were going to be much more interesting around here.
