#4 of Lament of the Moon: S&H Part 2

Sasuga was coming to steadily from her faint status, her eyes twitching as she finally opened them. Her whole body shuddering, the first thing she felt was how awfully chilly it was, cold fog covering her surroundings. She shook her head to sober herself, not knowing or remembering where she was or how she got here. The place was dim lighted, but she could see that she was inside some kind of a giant freezer; large rows of frozen meat hanged up on hooks around her evidently giving it away. She tried to move, but couldn't, having her hands shackled to a hook above her and her feet tied up by a tight rope. She tried to scream out, but her mouth was gagged by a tough piece of cloth, with nothing coming out of her mouth except for some dull muffles and warm steam.

"Don't bother, honey. No one will hear you scream inside these walls, no matter how hard you try," a sore-throated voice spoke to the side, and Sasuga turned her head to her right with a muffled gasp. Someone having its back turned was tinkering with a sharp tool on a table, and Sasuga's eyes flashed wide open in shock when she discovered who it was. "Stunned, aren't you?" the figure turned around and approached her, showing itself under the dim light, carrying a razor-sharp machete in one hand. It was Shanya, the poor, misfortunate skunk girl. Sasuga couldn't believe her eyes, trying to comprehend what was going on. It then hit her all of the sudden, as her minded drifted back to the moment she was helping Shanya in packing the boxes to her van. The last thing she remembered after that was being surprised by behind by someone and had her mouth covered by a handkerchief that was most likely soaked with a narcotic drug, instantly knocking her out cold before bringing her here. 'But why?' Sasuga's frightened eyes tried to speak.

"I see lots of questions in your eyes, and I'll gladly tell you, since you don't have much time to live anyway," Shanya spoke in a creepy way, her voice getting gruffer. "I am 'The Slaughter', or so they call me," the skunk revealed, his voice now fully altered, sounding fully like a male. Sasuga's heart skipped a beat from the terror. She was now facing him, the Slaughter, the conniving, ruthless and brutal serial killer. Her worst fear was becoming a horrifying reality. How could this have happened to her? She was utterly fooled by the innocent demeanor he showed disguising himself as a female and that probably how he hadn't been captured yet. "Yes, Sasuga, yes. You were pretty unlucky to run into me like that. You should've simply walked away when you had the chance. But when I laid my eyes on you, you caught my attention, and I couldn't let you go. You looked so appealing and... unique." Smiling sleazily, the killer moved closer to Sasuga as she futilely tried to back away, putting a hand on her cheek and caressing it gently as she whimpered, lifting the tip of his sharp blade right an inch away from her face, tracing it along her cheek till her chin. "Mmmm... so smooth and delicate. I love the way your skin feels. And I bet my knife would love it too... Oooh! Just the thought of piercing through these scales and into your flesh drives me wild!" he leered insanely and neared his face to hers, giving her cheek a sensual lick and making her turn her face away in detest with a grunt. "Don't try to resist me, sugar. You won't be going anywhere. You better just give in and face the facts. You're 'mine' now." With a grin, he passed the sharp side of his machete over her chest and cut through the fabric of her top and bra, tearing it in half easily and rendering her topless, but leaving her body unscratched. Sasuga gasped frightfully, her whole body quivering, as the killer stood just inches away from her naked chest. Her eyes began to tear up at the thought of him viciously murdering her after raping her. She didn't want to die; not like this. "Oh, I think I need to reintroduce myself. My name's Shawn. Charmed, I'm sure," the slaughter snickered deviously, groping one of her furred, bright-brown breasts and pinching the nipple with two fingers while slurping against her neck with his drooling tongue, forcing her to squirm sharply, shedding even more precious tears as the realization hit her. This wasn't a dream. She was going to be raped, and she couldn't do anything to prevent it. The only thing she was able to do was closing her eyes and praying from the bottom of her heart for it to end as painless as possible. The wicked Slaughter snickered again at how hopeless she looked, and that cynically turned him on more, as he lowered the knife down to her lower body and planned to shred what left of clothing she had on.

Suddenly, a powerful blow hit the killer on the face just before the tip of the knife touched the top of Sasuga's pants, and sent him flying a couple of feet away. Opening her eyes when she felt the predator being pushed away from her, Sasuga blinked in utter disbelief, seeing a miracle standing right before her after punching the killer away from out of nowhere. Could it really be the golden wolf? Over thrilled, she shouted out for him in total joy, but she was still gagged.

Hazard immediately turned to her, "Sasuga, are you okay?" he worriedly checked her for a brief moment, before he heard a groan coming from the fallen skunk. "Just hold on a bit. I'll take care of him," Hazard told her in a serious tone as he concentrated his attention back to the Slaughter; Sasuga's face bearing an astonished expression at the wolf's aggression. She feared for him to be harmed in the process.

"Ouugh... Shit! Who the hell are you!? What the...?! You!?" the killer got up with a painful grunt, wiping the blood spewing from his chin from that surprising punch he received. His face then paled when he saw it was Hazard, the same wolf that helped him earlier today. "Shit!" the skunk grinded his teeth angrily, cursing his rotten luck for thinking no body was left in the plant.

"You sick, dirty, psychotic bastard... acting like a girl so you could walk freely and have your way with your disgusting hobby. How much more sickening can you be?" Hazard spitefully uttered with sharp, threatening glares. Shawn crawled backward cowardly, aiming to reach for the machete he dropped. "You picked the wrong day to mess with my friend, pal." Hazard slammed his fist in his palm and planned to teach the skunk a lesson, but Shawn succeeded in getting a hold of his sharp knife.

"Fuck YOU!" the killer snarled and dashed towards Hazard with his knife straight on. Sasuga let out a muffled shriek to warn Hazard, but he didn't need any, as he stepped out of attack with ease, while the skunk tripped and fell onward.

"Oh, please. And you call yourself a fearsome killer? I've seen scout girls who can slash a butter knife better than that, but you're certainly cuter," the wolf smirked mockingly, provoking Shawn even more.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" the mad skunk growled as he got up on his feet and attempted to attack Hazard again, waving with the machete left and right, but he was missing the wolf every time. Sasuga watched in amazement as Hazard was evading the killer's slashes so effortlessly; she'd never seen anyone move this fast. The Slaughter's frustration increased as Hazard kept avoiding his feeble attacks, and did a frontal thrust with his large knife towards the wolf's torso. Hazard ducked out of its way, and forced Shawn to ram into a hefty piece of beef meat behind, stabbing it instead. With the machete being stuck into the chunk of meat, the killer was wide open, and Hazard didn't hesitate, as he buried a strong fist into the skunk's stomach, causing him to bend over with a loud groan, before receiving an uppercut in the jaw that sent him flying to the air and slamming on the cold floor with a painful thump.

"Had enough?" Hazard breathed, fog coming out of his maw as he stood up straight. If it weren't for the gag, Sasuga would've cheered out happily; she couldn't believe how awesome Hazard was. But her joy didn't last for long, as the killer got up again with shaky legs, coughing out some blood and spitting it out.

"I... I won't... let it... END LIKE THIS!" With a mad bawl, Shawn pulled out a short blade from under the apron he was wearing and rushed towards the unsuspecting wolf. Sasuga couldn't look and thought that he got Hazard, whimpering and shutting her eyes, not wanting to witness it. However, she heard the killer yell out in pain, and she opened her eyes again, only to see the hand that was holding the knife being clutched tightly by Hazard's strong grip. Hazard's glare sharpened as he tightened the grip around the skunk's wrist to the point he almost split it, making him cry out louder and forcing him to drop the weapon as it fell to the floor with a thud. Grabbing the killer by his shirt collar, Hazard lifted him up high; and in a quick motion, hurled him to the other side and slammed him strongly on the floor. The skunk grunted heavily from the powerful slam and almost got knocked out, groaning out from the agony. He was easily trounced by the wolf and he was totally helpless against him. Hazard then clutched him by the neck and crouched down to him, a callous stare radiating in his sharp eyes, as he raised his other hand and unsheathed its sharp claws, ready to slit the hapless skunk's throat.

"P-P-Please! Do-Don't kill me! I beg of you! I'll turn myself in! Just don't kill me, please!" Shawn pled pitifully, trembling fearfully under the wolf's might. Sasuga was totally astonished at what were happening, her eyes on fully wide and not believing that Hazard was actually going to kill him, even if he deserved it. Hazard paused in that position for a few moments, before his eyes tamed down and he unfastened his clutch around Shawn's neck.

"You're not even worth it," Hazard merely uttered, and Shawn breathed out in relief to hear that he'd been spared, but he didn't get to enjoy it for too long, as he then received a powerful smack right in the muzzle, courtesy of the golden wolf, that'd instantly knocked him out cold. He sure wouldn't be able to use his snout for a few weeks, at least. Hazard unhanded the filthy varmint and got off of him, heading immediately to Sasuga's side. He untied the ropes that were around her feet and unhooked her hands, breaking away the shackles around them. He then pulled away the gag that was covering her mouth, and took off his own white shirt to cover her nude top body.

"Are you all right, Sasuga? Did he hurt you anywhere?" Hazard whispered to her in concern, checking her up for any kind of wounds. Sasuga didn't answer back, and simply kept looking up at Hazard with stunned and frightened eyes. She'd almost been raped and murdered a few minute ago, but Hazard came in just the nick of time and rescued her. She didn't know how, nor did she care, but he came for her, and she didn't know how to feel or respond about it. All that she could do was throwing herself into the wolf's chest and hug him tight.

"Oh, Hazard! It was...! He almost...! Oh, thank goodness, Haz...!" Sasuga sobbed, burying herself into Hazard's chest and clinging into his shirt firmly. Hazard was a bit overtaken by her overemotional response, but it must've been really awful for her to go through that. Hesitantly, he wrapped his arms around her gradually and hugged her back.

"It's ok now. It's over..." Hazard comfortingly cooed as he hugged her back, petting the back of her head as Sasuga continued to sob softly between his arms. Police sirens were then heard outside the plant, responding to a call Hazard made to them earlier.

At the end of the day, Sasuga was at her apartment after being interrogated for a little while at the police station with Hazard for necessary procedures about the Slaughter's case. She was setting on her bed, wearing her pajamas after taking a much needed shower to rid the stress, and holding a coffee mug between her hands. She was lost in thoughts, her mind in turmoil, reliving today's terrifying events. She almost got herself killed if it weren't for Hazard, and she was wholly in debt to him. But all of that would've never happened if she didn't trust Shanya so hastily. She wasn't sure if she could trust anyone again after that experience. A knock on the front door then break her chain of thoughts and she went over to open it.

"Hey there," Hazard's smiling face greeted her.

"Oh, hey Haz," Sasuga smiled back, albeit less cheerful.

"Sorry about bothering you in an hour like this, but I wanted to check up on you and see how you are doing. And, I think you've dropped this," Hazard said as he handed her a suitcase. "You need it, no?"

"Oh my! My suitcase!" Sasuga exclaimed happily as she held her treasured suitcase in her arms, and Hazard was glad to see her sweet smile back. "Thank you, Haz! You've done so much for me..." the kirin stated in gratitude, her face bearing the usual jade shade.

"Don't mention it. I'm just glad I was at the right place at the right time. Otherwise, I don't even want to imagine what could've happened," Hazard smirked timidly, Sasuga squirming of the thought of that possibility. "H-Hey! Don't think about it, ok!? Everything fine now, right?"

Sasuga looked up to him and smiled tenderly, "Yes. Thanks to you." She leaned forward and gave him a warming hug, causing the wolf to flush a little.

"Um, anytime, Sasuga..." Hazard softly murmured, petting her head gently, resisting the urge to hug her back. Not that he didn't want to, but Hazard had his reasons, and for the most part, he didn't want to develop anything more out of this.

Yet, despite things ending well, he couldn't shake off the feeling that this was just the beginning. 'The beginning of what', was something he didn't care to know, not as much as he cared to be by his kirin's friend's side in her time of need.
