Chapter 1
It had been a long day for Sebastian he was on his way home from work when his cell went off it was Roy he was saying how Nina had another episode at school. Sebastian thought she always has a anxiety attack every time their is a movement from student council that she will have to speak in front of the school I do get where she is coming from she is eight years old in a high school she's shy and she was voted for student body president by one of her friends. Sebastian sighed I will pick her up some ice cream. Roy said that she has been on a craving for mangos lately. Sebastian said I well stop by wing mart and pick her up a couple of pints for her than anything you want from their Roy just said surprise me and Edward. Than surprised you will be don't bother cooking I have an idea. You know I don't like when you have a surprise. Sebastian just said bye see you in a bit
as he hung up his blue tooth and drove to wing mart after he checked out he checked out his phone and saw he had four text messages from Roy trying to figure it out Sebastian just chuckled and texted take the kids for a drive I will set everything up. Roy just texted back and said fine. As Sebastian pulls up everyone is just leaving Roy comes over to his car and kisses him and see if he could see what they were having. Sebastian just said I have it the trunk darling. I should be done in setting up in about an hour so take your time. As Roy and the kids left. Sebastian unloaded the car and set up the specials dinner which was just a Sunday station to surprise everyone with five different ice cream flavours and an assortment of toppings and drizzles for everyone. Sebastian called Roy and said everything is set up bring everyone home the surprise is waiting
When Roy and the kids got home, Roy started to say in an almost to sweet tone why is a ice cream parlour in my living room Sebastian's ear dropped as he remembered the last time Roy was angry Sebastian just said that won't be a problem. After they hung up Sebastian thought I am going to die tonight by the hands of Roy because I just put together a Sunday bar I am never going to hear the end of this. As Roy and the kids got home the kids where happy but Roy was glaring daggers at Sebastian but everyone ended up having a pleasant time as they sat in the living room and they put on a movie they could all enjoy after that Roy made sure they all brushed their teeth for twenty minutes. After the kids went to bed Roy cornered to say what kind surprise is cavities Sebastian ear flat and he just wanted to cheer Nina up Roy said close your eyes and kissed Sebastian when he opened them again he said this is why I married you for your big heart and warming personality and how you always want to help. They kissed and went to bed after Roy said you are not cooking breakfast I know what you were planning to make is full of sugars and do not worry about tonight I am here for you. Sebastian knew what that meant it is the eighth anniversary since his friend was killed in front of him. At around midnight Sebastian woke up in a cold sweat after the same nightmare he and his friend walking down the street when that crazy human stabbed his friend and tried to kill Sebastian to that is when he awoke his power to manipulate shadows and when his or his loved one's lives are in danger he can turn the shadows into solid material and use them more efficiently to either kill or hurt the
attackers his powers go out of control when he is angry or on the verge of death after he calmed down a bit he touched his eye patch the only surviving memory of his friend as he got up to go and make some green tea he grabbed his traditional Japanese tobacco pipe and went to start the kettle. After awhile Roy came down and saw how sad Sebastian was and asked same dream Sebastian just nodded and took a sip oh his tea. Roy said why didn't you wake me up to talk. Sebastian just took another sip of his tea and looked up at the moon and replied what's the point it is just a memory of the past now like he is. Roy just sighed and said it was wasn't your fault you know that right. Sebastian took a puff of his pipe and said it was if I had my power before then I would have been able to save him now sweetie please go back to bed and get some rest. Roy just rolled his eyes and
noting happens to him again. Nina just said if he doesn't explain I am not healing him. Roy just said can you heal him a bit so he doesn't bleed out. Nina just shook her head and said not tell he tells us what he is hiding from us. Roy just pinched the bridge of his nose and said Edward do you have anything that could help him from not bleeding out. Edward just shook his head and said I am with Nina on this either he talks or he goes to the hospital for self inflicted wounds. Sebastian groaned as he started to regain conciseness. Roy just said you must explain to them why you hate today and why didn't you wake me when you felt that starting to happen. Sebastian groaned either you heal me or I want to be around to tell you the story. Nina sighed and said fine after a few minutes Nina said I am not healing papa anymore tell he explains. Sebastian groans and sits up clutching is his side and started to
explain the story well reaching up to his eye patch (flashback) me and my now deceased friend where walking home from a class one night when we where attacked by a human who did not agree with Anthos and stabbed my friend I got so angry that the shadows started to bend. When the human pulled the knife out of my friend and he went to stab me the shadows bent and protected me but not enough I lost my eye and I ended up killing the man in a blind rage after I calmed down I went and sat down and cradled my dead friend in my arms and cried and wished it was me who died that night. (End flashback) after that I meet your father and he helped me more than anyone. Nina and Edward started to go teary eyed. Nina walked up to him and slapped him across the face. Roy screamed Nina don't hit your father Nina just said he deserved it for when he said it should have been him if it
was she wouldn't have a family and she wouldn't be as happy as she is now. Edward just agreed with Nina and said I wouldn't be the youth I am today with out father to so I won't slap him like Nina did. Roy just said Nina can you heal him then off to bed with both of you. Nina agreed than ran upstairs with Edward well Roy just stared at Sebastian shaking his head and said I tell you every year to come and get me if that is going to happen. Sebastian flattened his ears and said I don't want to have you get hurt like my friend did he went to get his keys. Roy said you know I can handle myself in a fight and you know that now where are you going. Sebastian said bloody hell I was just going to go for a walk is that fine. Roy started to get angry how can I trust you to go for a walk alone after you basically tried to kill yourself just an hour ago if you are going I am to. Sebastian just said what about the kids. Roy just called for Edward to come downstairs and said simple solution. Edward came down the stairs and asked what. Roy turned and said watch your sister for a bit we are going for a short walk if you need me I have my phone on me. Edward just looked at Sebastian for help and said fine and went upstairs to edit a video. Sebastian walked quickly trying to bend the shadows to get away from his irritated husband but Roy just kept summon balls light to get rid of the shadows. Roy said please just talk to me instead of trying to get away from me I want to help you. Sebastian stopped and turned to Roy and said can you take me back in time to save him and I can die I must remember that night every time I look in the mirror because of my eye patch how would you feel. Roy started to cry and said I can't do that and you know that but I married you for you all the
baggage from your past for your love remember I am with you for better or for worse in sickness and in health. Sebastian lost it to and started to cry to I know but the baggage from that incident isn't for me to share with anyone but me. Roy said it is meant to be shared with me as your husband. Sebastian went and hugged Roy and he hugged back sobbing into his chest Sebastian said please just stop crying and go home I will come back soon. Roy just shook his head and said only if you do. Sebastian was tempted to knock Roy out and take him home that way but agreed to go home to please Roy. When they got home, Roy went up to inform Edward they where home. Sebastian grabbed some aspirin and two sleeping pills for Roy and him then went to sleep.
The two weeks after on the 28th of October Sebastian woke up to see that Nina was standing above him with Edward look saying she wouldn't go to sleep don't kill me Roy got up and asked what they where doing up so early on a Saturday. Nina almost yelled and said happy birthday papa i cooked you breakfast. Sebastian and Roy went as pale as ghosts because the last time Nina cooked people where sent to the hospital for food poisoning. Edward said I helped her make it. Roy and Sebastian sighed and said they would be down stairs when they changed out of their pajamas Nina ran down the stairs and waited to serve. As Roy and Sebastian changed they thanked Edward for cooking Edward just said i Remember what happened last time. As they made they way downstairs Nina was already Ryan Down the stairs and plating food when Edward got down their trying to keep the little bat from breaking any dishes. As they finished getting dressed Roy walked over to Sebastian and kissed him saying we are going out tonight for a special date. Sebastian looked confused and said what about the kids. Roy just chuckled and said it was their idea that I take you out for your birthday because we haven't gone anywhere as a couple since we adopted Edward. Sebastian said they're is a reason we said we would go out when Edward became a teenager but then we adopted a little winged ball of energy and said that we won't go on a date till she calms down when she is a teenager. Roy just sighed and said well we have no choice but to go or they well torment me for a week. So, no backing out. Sebastian just kissed Roy and said let's go before Nina comes and starts trouble like last year. I don't feel like replacing another window. They just kissed again and headed down for breakfast. As the morning continued they enjoyed breakfast and spent the day laughing playing games and just enjoying each others company until Nina literally pushed Roy and Sebastian out the door with a huge grin on her face. Sebastian was trying to come up with excuses to not go out Nina wasn't having it she just pushed harder till they got to the door. Roy started to run Edward through the rules one last time. Edward just rolled his eyes and said we have been through this a thousand times already no parties Nina can have one friend over for the night and if we want we can order food other then that I make the calls if they are stepping out of line they need to be in bed at a half decent hour and call you if there is a problem correct dad. Roy just said drop the sarcasm and tried to get Sebastian out the door before he could find a reason to stay again. Sebastian tried to say that we could just stay in and watch a movie. Roy glared and said get in the car it is non-negotiable Sebastian frowned and got in mumbling that something could happen well we are gone. Roy just got in and started the car saying nothing is going to happen we have two responsible kids who no the rules and the laws just relax everything will be fine it is one night they will be fine. Sebastian sighed and said are son has death rays in his room and that is responsible and are daughter almost let me die. Roy laughed and said good point but at least they can defend them self if someone breaks in plus we know deep down they are responsible and won't do anything illegal at least. I know but we raised them since they where just pups which they always be to me Sebastian said with a sad smile. Roy smiled and said I know and they always will be, but we need to let them free at sometime even if it just letting them free for a night it pains me too, but I trust them and if we go home before the morning you know the will say you don't trust us and that we are in high school we can be left alone for one night. Sebastian sighed in defeat and said I know I will try to have an enjoyable time for your guys sake but not for me. Roy leaned over and kissed him and said thank you now off we go before I get Nina calling me saying leave already. they both chuckled and Roy drove to the restaurant they went to on their first date as a couple a high dinning place with a world-famous chef who they are now good friends with they just didn't want to bring the kids and keep it a secret intel Edward was dating someone. As dinner went on they where just happily talking about when they where dating and came here before Roy found out that Sebastian was rich, but Roy couldn't care less he loved Sebastian for him not how many zeros where in his bank account. Sebastian used to never take anyone to expensive restaurants because they would only want him for his money. Just then an ambulance drove past with it's siren and lights going this caused Sebastian to look worried just enough to get him to start heading to pay the bill before they finished dessert. Just as he stood Roy grabbed his wrist and said if there was a problem one of the kids would have contacted them. Just then Roy's phone went off it was Nina crying apparently Edward was hurt. Sebastian ran to pay will Roy headed to the car as the where speeding home Sebastian was almost in tears saying this is my fault I should never have let you force me out. Roy rubbed his leg saying Edward doesn't take risks h could of simple fell down the stairs and broke his leg. As they pulled up they noticed that the living room window was smashed, and Nina came running out crying saying her friend's mom just left because Nina didn't want her friend to be scarred. Sebastian was crying out of angry and frustration and anger and asked what happened as they got back in the car to go to the hospital. Apparently shortly after they left everyone headed to their rooms to do their things when suddenly Nina and her friend heard a noise from downstairs and went to get Edward after she told him se heard a noise he told het to go to her room and stay their intel I call you after that he grabbed a machine from h shelf and went downstairs careful not to make a sound and then we heard someone scream at you better tell me where the black and red whore is or else Edward readied his weapon and said rather angry that my dad and father are out enjoying his fathers birthday and wont be home till tomorrow but I cant let you leave so there is two options 1]. I call the cops and you are arrested for breaking and entering or I erase you from this world the man rushed forth and stabbed Edward in the chest, but Edward fired his machine and vaporized the person. After that I ran downstairs to see Edward clutching his right side I called 911 and tried to heal him but I couldn't stop the bleeding that's when the emergency services showed up and took him then I called you two. At this point you could see a murderous cloud around Sebastian who tried to say to Roy as calmly as possible to let him out for he had to do something. At this Roy with out looking over said to Nina sweetie can you move behind me it will be safer. Nina moved over just as Roy pulled over before Sebastian got out Roy grabbed his paw and said don't do anything to stupid till I get their I want a crack at these assholes too okay love. Sebastian gave a smile that was starting to make Nina worry what was going to happen to these people because she had never heard her dad swear let alone threaten any one and said no promises no one messes with my family let alone my pups. After that Roy and Nina where on their way to the hospital Roy called his step sister Scarlet and said to take Nina for a couple of days after filling her in on what happened. She agreed and said she will be there in an hour don't leave till I get there for Nina's sake he agreed. Nina started to shake when she asked her dad what are you and papa going to do to these men I have never seen you like this papa yes but you no. Roy just smiled and said I will tell you when you are older but just know me and your papa love you both with both of are hearts and these men attacked her pride and joys so they will be getting a sever 'Lecture' from me and your papa and that they will never bother you two again. Just after Roy finished saying that half the city was blacked out from shadows moving to one spot in the warehouse district. Nina looked on in horror and said I think papa is beyond angry and I think he found them. Roy smirked and said he is the least of their worries honey they are going to see what happens when light and shadows work together when they are angry. Nina stayed quite the rest of the ride and stayed quite intel her aunt Scarlet arrived she ran and hugged her as Scarlet told Roy to make sure they suffer. All Roy did was laugh as he made his way to the car he said they are going t do more than suffer my dear sister. Scarlet comforted her little nice till she passed out from crying.
