#33 of The Search is Over

As Brandon wakes up in the chamber from his dream, and as he encounters the dragon who brought him there, who reveals to be Sierra, how will he escape? What does she want from him? And who is her master? Find out!

I stirred myself and opened my eyes. Groggily blinking them. I moaned with my mouth shut and rose my head off the furs, drawing back my head for a very loud yawn with my tongue curling. I stopped yawning and a smile drew across my snout. I was having such a nice dream. It was about Brandon. I took a deep breath and let out it in a slow whoosh of air. I can't believe it happened. Me and him, are finally mates.

I finally have another mate that I can trust and be with, and it's Brandon. For such a long time, I'm experiencing love again. For the first time, since Tommy. I let out a small sigh. I'll always remember and love Tommy, my first mate. But the past is always the past, and there's no going back to that. I haven't moved on from him for years and accepted my future. But I'm willing to do it now. Brandon's here with me, and I'll be with him. I love him. Tommy would want me to move on and be with him. I know Tommy would.

Brandon...

I'm glad you actually loved me. Me and you really are close. You're my comfort and my mate. If I tried to search for love, to move on from Tommy, there wouldn't be someone else who's like you. Like you said that there wouldn't be anyone else, who's like me. I'm glad we both told each other how we felt. I don't have any regrets, and you don't either. You were afraid of being with me because of what I am, but you're not anymore. Thank you, Brandon. Thank you, my mate.

I pulled my limb toward me, and my eyes popped up real wide. Feeling that something's missing. I turned my head to look down at my side and saw that Brandon's not sleeping by me. He was gone.

I cocked my head at the spot. Gone? Where did he go? That's when I can hear birds chirping outside the cave, meaning that morning has arrived. I slowly got up off the furs and on all fours. Brandon's already awake and he's outside. That's what happened to him. Well, I'm going meet up with my handsome little human, right now. I started to stretch out my legs, my wings, and my long tail behind me, letting out a satisfied sigh. Then I whirled around on the furs and walked off of them in fast strides. Very eager to see my mate this morning. I turned around the corner in the cave and saw the opening of it, the bright sun shining through it. I picked up the pace and emerged myself outside. I looked both left and right, to see if he was sitting right out here waiting. But he's not here.

I hummed in thought. He's probably at Jessie's car. I let out a breath, and shrugged my wings and shoulders. Well better get over there, big girl. I started to walk away from the mouth of the cave and started trekking through the woods. Ducking past several low tree branches and pushing several bushes out of my way. One of my wings almost got stuck by a branch, but I got it free. Didn't even hurt it at all.

About a couple minutes later, I saw the spot where Jessie's car's at, walking out of the woods to head towards it. With several steps of my paws, I can see that Brandon's not here either. I wrinkled my face. What's going on here? He never disappeared like that before. I trailed my eyes around the area and began to shout for my lover, "Brandon! I'm awake!"

No answer, but the birds in the trees. I tilted my head and tried again, "Brandon! Where are you?!"

Still no answer. I let out a snort. Where is he? He couldn't have just left me alone like that. He loves me. I shouted one more time, "Brandon!"

And just like the last two times, no answer. I let out an disappointed breath. Then a thought came to me. I have an idea. I'll just announce my presence with a roar. Then he'll hear me and come back from where he was at. I nodded to myself and puffed out my chest. Alright girl, announce your proud presence to your mate. I held my snout to the sky and let out a loud roar. Several birds were scared from it and all of them flew off the trees in numbers. Every one of them flying to the sky in fear of me. When I stopped roaring, I can still hear it being carried across the land from where I was at. That was definitely loud enough for him to hear. I sat down on my haunches and waited.

But after about a few minutes went by, he still hasn't come back. That's when I was having a worried look on my face, and a pit was forming in my stomach. Something's not right. Something's really not right. Brandon should be here by now. He wouldn't leave me. But....Where did he go?

Then I let out a gasp. Oh no....Did he disappear like Sierra, years ago? I shook my head and hissed at myself. Don't think like that! He's around here somewhere! I need to look for him, NOW! I got up off my butt, spread my wings and took to the skies, flapping them repeatedly as I was over the forest. After about several feet above the trees, I started looking down below me, hoping that I can see Brandon from an aerial view. But when two minutes of flying around over this particular area of the forest have gone by, I haven't found him from up in the air. I flapped my wings again and let out a worried trembling breath. Brandon....Where are you?

You love me, you wouldn't do this to me. What happened to you?

My blood was beginning to turn to ice, as my fear for him was growing more fierce. Now I'm really getting a bad feeling that something terrible happened to him, while I was sleeping. I hope he's alright. I got to keep looking. Brandon's in trouble and I need to search for him. I have to search for him, until I find him. Brandon would do the same for me. But I can't do this alone, I need some help. I know that I should look for him right now, but I need more help to cover these lands. I already flew over this part of the woods and never found him. These lands are vast for a lone dragoness like me alone, to look for him. I need to go back home and get help. I just hope somehow while I'm flying back to the dragon city, I'll see him down below.

I angled myself to my right over the trees, flying off to the direction of the city. With that fearful look on my face. Brandon, I hope you're not hurt.

Brandon...Wherever you are...Be safe.

*****

I backed away from Sierra a couple steps, while the two of us are still in that big mysterious chamber that held the dragon depictions on the walls. Still shocked that I'm inside the place from my dream. Still shocked that I'm actually talking to Sierra, who has been missing for years. Her big blue form is still standing tall over me, with that narrowed threatening look of hers. She's not looking real friendly, right now.

I can't believe this. I really can't believe this. Wayne and the others would be so happy to see that she's still alive. It really is her. And...She hurt me and kidnapped me. But...Why? Why did she bring me here? How come she hasn't come back home for years? And most of all...Who is this master of hers?

I looked to my left and saw the exit of the chamber far away from where we're at. Sierra caught my gaze and she growled, with a thump of her tail hitting the stone ground behind her, "Don't even think about it, human. Cause if you do, I'll kill you."

I gasped at her threat and just froze in my own spot. My god...What's going on with her? I looked right at her gaze and she never softened it. It looked like PURE hate. No other emotion, one bit. She didn't regret saying her threat. No regrets at all.

I don't get it. Wayne told me everything about her. He did say that she kinda did have a bit of a attitude, but it wasn't like THAT. He said that she wasn't...Evil. Sierra was kind and loving. She and Wayne were both in love with each other, just like me and Rain. She even loved Amanda, as her very own adoptive daughter. She loved everyone, and they all loved her. What's happened to her? Why is she like this? I was just staring at her, with my expression changing into curiosity. I stared at her frame for a long time and Sierra snorted down at me, "Why are you staring at me like that? Are you becoming a moron now?" She formed a twisted grin on her snout, "Well you did hit your head so hard on the ground, so I can bet you ARE a moron now." Then she drew back her head and laughed. Her laughter echoed the chamber.

I took a step toward her, "Are you...Really Sierra?"

She brought back her narrowed gaze again and rolled her eyes, "Didn't I just tell you who I am? Ancestors, you really are a moron. I don't understand why that dragoness of yours is with you at all."

My eyes went wide. Good god, has she been watching us? She must have saw me and Rain get together. Wait a minute...Was she watching over Wayne and the others the whole time, for years? I really have a lot of questions to ask her. I nodded at her, "Ok...Since you're really Sierra, why are you here? What happened to you, years ago? Wayne and your friends, thought you were dead. You were gone for years."

She twisted her neck into a shape of an s, she said in what sounded like a sarcastic tone, "Oh really?"

I nodded, "Yes. They're worried about you and-"

She waved her dismissive paw at me, "I don't have any friends. The only friend that I have is my master." I was shocked at her words. God, how can she say that? Something really changed her. Sierra began to slowly nod at me, her look never softened, "To answer your question earlier as to why are you here...I've brought you here Brandon, because my master wanted to meet you."

I wasn't surprised at all that she said my name. She really has been watching over me and my friends. I tilted my head and frowned, "Who is your master? When did you get a master? I didn't think dragons would have masters."

Sierra smiled at me with her tail swishing behind her, "That's because no dragon in the world, has ever met this master."

I asked, "Then who is he? Where is he?"

That's when I heard a voice behind me, "Eager to meet me, boy?" I jumped a bit, it didn't sound far away from where me and Sierra are at. I turned fast around and saw in a corner of the chamber, a person wearing a purple robe carrying a staff. The person was wearing a hood over his head so that way he could conceal his face. The staff has a green stone on top of it. I frowned at the staff at first, surprised to see something like that. Then I looked right at the man and asked, "Who are you?"

The man in the hood took some steps toward me, his grip on the staff with one hand held on, "I see that my apprentice did a good job at bringing you here." His hooded head turned and looked right at Sierra, "Good girl."

She bowed her head near me, "Thank you, master. I told you before, I won't let you down."

I clenched my fist and narrowed my eyes at the man, "Stop ignoring me. Who are you?"

The man in the hood chuckled at bit, "Not real patient about things, huh? Gee, I guess I'll probably have a hard time with you." Then his hand went inside the hood and brushed it off his head. Finally revealing a face. The man appeared to be in his late thirties, and has short brown hair. The man showed me a smile and introduced himself, "My name is Marcus. And welcome to my....Well there are no bedrooms and bathrooms here, but nevertheless welcome to my home. Like the place?"

I ignored his question and asked him with my own, "What do you want?" He and Sierra laughed at my question and I glared at them, especially Marcus, "What are you laughing at?"

Marcus strode a couple more steps, until he was more closer to me, "What's funny, is that you aren't exactly patient. You didn't even say hello to me." Then he waved his hand around the chamber, "Ha! You didn't even compliment my home. I'm sorry to say this, but if you watch television, I don't have anything like that here. Besides, there's no cable here anyways." He snickered.

I just stood there glaring at him, trying to calm my nerves, "Not exactly in the mood for a civil conversation." I motioned my hand to Sierra beside me, "I got knocked out and brought here by Sierra. Who she says that you're her master. Honestly, I'm just-"

He asked, cutting me off, "You're what? Surprised that Sierra's alive? I know, I can bet and see that you are."

I answered, "I'm just surprised that she's working for someone like you. Sierra never had a master, before. Also, you don't look like the friendly type."

Sierra shook her head, "I'm not either."

I looked at the dragon depictions on the walls. Seeing one of them depicts a dragon flying high in the sky, over the sun. Flying high above the land. Another one I saw, showed a knight fighting a dragon. The dragon reared back on it's hind legs getting ready to strike at the knight wearing grey armor and wielding a sword. I asked with curiosity shone in my eyes, "What is this place? I've never heard of this place before."

Marcus paced forward, until he stood beside me, "The only reason why you never heard of this place, well this place doesn't exactly attract tourists here sooo." He shrugged with a arm, and I turned to look at the mysterious man when he went on to answer my question, "This place, well it never had a name. But I do know that this place was made, since a very long time ago." He shook his head, "Of course, I can't be certain HOW long this place has really been around. I was the one who found this place and lived in it. Actually, I began to live in it, since WAY before you were born."

My eyes went wide at his words, "Hold on. What do you mean by WAY before I was born? How old are you?" Then I looked at the staff with the green stone on top, and I'm getting a feeling who that guy really is. He must be some kind of wizard.

Marcus answered, "You'd be surprised at how long I've lived here. I did live here for a long time. But to answer your question...Maybe over a thousand years. But hey, I can lose track of things, sometimes."

I backed away one step from him, just shocked a little bit by his words, "So what and who are you really? Are you some kind of wizard?"

He pointed at the staff his other hand's holding, with his brows raised, "Does THIS answer your question?"

Sierra lowered her snout toward my back and remarked to her master, "This boy's a moron. He seems pretty slow at things."

I turned to face Sierra, "I'm just confused."

Sierra giggled, then she rose her head above my level and sat down on her haunches curling her tail around her, "Well quit acting like a moron and pay attention. I'm sure my master here's going to explain now."

Marcus said this and I turned my head to face him, "I was planning to, anyways. Since the boy's here, don't want to leave the boy hanging. I'm sure you probably have a lot of questions you want to share with me." Then he gave me a big smile and said, "I'm sure that you have a question about her, right? Like, why is Sierra here instead of her home?" Then he giggled evilly, "I'm pretty sure you know, it's because she wanted a REAL friend, and that's how she found ME."

I'm starting to get a feeling that the reason why Sierra's acting different, is because of Marcus. I do know wizards can place spells on things, including creatures and people. I've seen that happened in the movies. I gave him a threatening glare, "She HAS real friends. What did you do to her?"

He waved a dismissive hand and shook his head, "OH, we'll get to that."

I let out an exasperated sigh and threw my hands in the air, "Look, why don't you stop playing these fucking games already?"

He glared right back at me, "Wow, what's your deal? Haven't had enough sleep, Brando? Or are you so scared, that you really want to escape?" He shook his head, "Don't even try it, kiddo. Because I'm sure you know that my apprentice, can be a real bitch at times."

Sierra shot up her head proudly, "And proud to be one, master."

He laughed and looked up at her, "I bet you are, my beloved apprentice."

I shouted at him, "Why are you calling her that?! She's not your apprentice! Hell, this isn't even her home! You did something to her! I know you did! Why is she here?! What did you do to her?!!" Then I pointed a threatening finger at him, "You better talk, you son of a bitch! Or I'm gonna-"

Then all of a sudden, when he closed his eyes at my threat, he opened them back up and his eyes showed that they were different. That they weren't human eyes. They looked liked dragon's eyes. I sucked in a deep sharp breath and backed away in horror at what I've seen. Jesus, what the hell?! What was that?! Marcus stared at me with those inhuman eyes and he closed them. When he opened them back up, they were changed back to human eyes. I was taking slow deep breaths. My heart was pounding. God...I've never seen anything like that before. What was that? How did he...?

What's going on here? Who is he??

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. I stuttered with a calm voice, "Who...Who are you? And...Why are you doing this?"

Marcus formed a twisted smile, "I suppose, that calmed your attitude now? Remember, you're a guest here. And besides, we haven't gotten to know each other yet." He giggled a bit and shrugged with both shoulders, "I can think, we can be best buddies. I know that you like having friends."

My glare came back on my face, "I don't want to be your buddy. But I do want to get to know you, if you cut the bullshit already."

Sierra laughed near me, "Hear that, master? He wants you to do storytelling for him."

Marcus nodded in agreement, "Oh, I'll be doing storytelling alright. Since you're here, you deserve to know the truth. ALL of it." Then he turned his body a bit toward the wall, "Very well, then. Story time, shall begin." Then the stone on the staff, began to glow in it's eerie greenish color. My eyes went wide at that. Gosh, this is different than the gem back at the Braveheart. The stone glowed brighter, until some of it's magic shot out of the stone and hit the wall. The magic on the wall, began to display images on it. I can tell they look like clouds in the bright blue sky. I frowned at them on the stone wall, watching the show on there. Ready to see the truth.

The image on the wall then showed a vast forest underneath the sky, then it showed a dragon that has blue scales on it. It was fighting several knights in armor. Blowing fire at three of them, while it's tail thrashed and hit a couple behind it. Then I saw a knight make a deep downward cut onto it's body and it let out an animalistic cry. Another knight came out of nowhere and used a bolt gun to shoot a couple of arrows at it. The arrows hit the dragon squarely in the side. It cried out again as the knight with the sword, made another slice this time in one of the blue dragon's wing membranes. I held a hand to my mouth, shocked and sad watching this. God...I kinda imagined what the humans were like, WAY before I was born. And I kinda imagined what they did to dragons, back then. But...God, watching this is horrible.

Before the knight could slice into the dragon's hide again, the blue dragon roared at the knights and made a sharp swipe with one of it's paws. The knight cried out, being flown a few feet away by the swipe. The blue dragon focused on the man with the bolt gun and blew a stream of orange fire at him. The knight with the bolt gun screamed as he was engulfed in flames. Then the images started fading away, to another image on the wall. This time, it was showing the blue dragon has survived the attack by the knights, but it's wounded. It couldn't even fly away, because of it's damaged wing. It was bleeding, leaving a trail of blood behind it. It was mortally wounded. Poor thing.

The dragon found a cave nearby and wounded up going inside it. The blue dragon went further in it, until it ended up in a familiar place. I gasped as I recognized that place. The blue dragon wondered in the cave with the chamber in it! It's the same place, I'm in now! The blue dragon cried out in snarling pain. It was huffing and groaning, looking like it's about to give up and accept it's fate. Judging by the sound of it's voice, it sounds like a male. The blue drake saw something in the middle of the chamber. It was the staff with the green stone on top, sticking up from the stone floor. There was that purple robe laying near it too.

The blue dragon limped toward it, full of curiosity. He got close to the robe and dipped his nose toward it and gave it a sniff. Then he gazed at the staff. All of a sudden, the green stone began to glow and the dragon backed up in surprise, flared with one wing and hissed. The glowing stone shot it's magic right at the dragon and he was crying out as he was hit in the chest. The blue dragon groaned and crumbled to the ground. Then while the dragon was moaning still, he looked at one of his forepaws and gasped, with his eyes wide. His paws began to change into...Human hands!

The drake was breathing raggedly, as his limbs, his chest, and his whole body began to change into a human. HIs wings, tail, scales, horns and frills all melted away. The dragon became a human, curled up on the ground. I was surprised at seeing that. God...That stone changed it. The dragon, who's now a human finally started to get up slowly off the floor on his own feet. He had his back turned, as he looked at his own body in total surprise and disbelief. Can't even believe it happened to him. Then when he turned toward the staff, I recognized the human. I let out another gasp. Marcus! That's...Marcus!

I looked at Marcus beside me. So that's why he changed his eyes into slits. He's not a human. He's a dragon. A dragon who got turned into a human, by that stone. I turned my gaze back to the wall, as I can see Marcus is trying to steady himself, with a couple of paces towards the robe and the staff. He was trying to get used to walking as a human. He stumbled and fell forward with a thud, landing on his knees. Then Marcus looked right at the robe on the floor and he shivered. He was feeling cold, since he was naked. He doesn't have warm scales anymore. Marcus let out a sigh and grabbed onto the robe with both hands to wear it. Seeing that he doesn't have much of a choice. He dressed himself in that robe, stuck his head through the neck line, with the hood behind his neck, then the staff with the stone on top glowed again and he looked at it. By the look in his eyes, he feels like he needs it. He's not wounded anymore, the stone saved his life. Marcus went up to that staff, clutched it with one hand, and pulled it out of the floor. Then the images went away on the wall and now things are back to normal. No more images.

I was still stunned by that truth and turned to Marcus. He looked back at me, with a serious look, "Surprised...Human?"

I said in exclamation, "You're....You're not a human. You're a dragon." I gestured to the wall without looking at it, "You were that blue dragon years ago, and....You're a human. Because of that stone."

Marcus nodded and turned his eyes to the staff he's holding, "Yeah...That was the moment, that changed my life forever." He shrugged with one hand, as he told more of his tale, "I wasn't really named Marcus at all. That wasn't the name I was born with. I took the name Marcus from a greedy human king. His name was King Marcus. I thought it'd be a fitting name for someone like me."

He started to shake his head, "I wasn't really the kind of drake, who'd live in a dragon city. I was the kind of drake who lived outside of it. Lived out in these lands. I just didn't feel like I wanted to live there. So I lived alone. Then one day while I was out hunting, several knights who were working for some king, found me and as you saw, they attacked me. Mortally wounding me to be exact, before I killed them all." He closed his eyes and sighed, "I never expected to become a human in my life. I never even knew of this place. Never heard of it. I just came here for shelter from the uncaring world. Just to accept my grueling fate." He opened them and looked right at me, "Then a miracle happened. I was given a second chance at life. I became, what you see now. The very human, wearing the purple robe. The drake, who became a human to use magic. The magic from the stone. It felt like, it has chosen me. So from then on, I stayed here for years. I know that the magic of the dragon city, would've kept me from ageing at a normal rate. I know that I wasn't a drake anymore, I'm a human. Humans live shorter lives, than dragons do. I should be dead, by now. But the stone...It kept me alive."

Then I asked, "So you...Never became your old self, afterward?"

He shook his head, "I may have survived and took my place here, even taught myself how to use the stone, to use it's magic. But the problem was...I never knew how to change myself back to normal. I just accepted who I am. I've missed the joy of flight. It really does suck that a human can't really fly. The only thing I could change was my eyes, as you just saw. Then I change them back to being human. And that wasn't the only problem, that I've had with the stone. I may know how to use it's magic...But the magic with me alone, wasn't strong enough."

I shook my head slowly, "I don't understand."

Marcus explained, "The stone did show me why. It does send me images to my brain, that I can see. It lets me see things." He raised a finger, "See, the reason why my magic is not strong with me alone...Is because I need a dragon. I can do SOME magic, but not a lot of it. Just some tricks. But with very BIG magic tricks, I needed a dragon's help. I may have been born as a dragon, but I'm not anymore. When I'm human, it's not the same thing. It wouldn't work. So I need one to help me." Then he shrugged, "But how can me, a dragon turned into a human do something about it? No dragon would ever trust me, since I'm like this. They wouldn't even believe me, that I was one of them. I would've changed my eyes into slits, but I even thought that other dragons would've thought I was some kind of demon and kill me anyways. So since I have magic, why not use that magic to bring ONE dragon here? It was strong enough to do that."

Then I narrowed my eyes, "You mean...Control it?"

Marcus thrusted a finger at me, "BINGO!" He pulled his hand back, "You really aren't a moron after all." Then he waved at Sierra nearby and explained, "And as you can see...She's this one dragon."

I asked, "But why do you want her really? Why her? What's the point really in using big magic tricks?"

Marcus answered, "Why her? Because of her past, of course."

I was frowning, "Her past?"

"Yes." Then the magic from the stone begin to glow again and it shot right at the wall again, "Let me show you again." I watched the wall showing images again. This time they showed images of several knights getting slaughtered in a castle courtyard by a blue dragon. And I can recognize that one. It's Sierra. I looked over my shoulder to glance back at her and then glanced right back at the wall. Now apparently, it showed Sierra cornering somebody who appeared to be of royalty. That's when I figured out what's going on there. This is when Sierra killed those knights and that king, because she thought they killed Eric. The image showed Sierra breathing fire down at the king, killing him and I could hear his screams of agony. After he died, Sierra flew off into the sky.

Marcus turned his gaze to me, as the image changed on the wall, "I'm sure you know what that was all about, do you?"

I turned to him and said, "You picked her, because of that?"

Marcus nodded, "I wanted to pick a good apprentice, and when the stone years ago showed me that image in my brain, that's when I knew she was perfect." Then he sighed, "But I didn't know how to get her to come to me, yet. I couldn't just walk up and talk to her. I knew I had to use some kind of spell to bring her to me, but I was trying to figure out how. I was still learning how to use magic around that time. So...I just watched over her, when the stone shows me what's been happening to her. I also had to wait for time to go by, before I could do anything to her anyways. Why? Because I wanted her hatred for humanity to grow. After what happened in that courtyard of that castle, when she left her home to live in this certain cave that's far away from the dragon city, not long after she stayed there she did appear to hate humanity back then. But the problem was around that time, I was afraid her hatred hasn't really grown. Why? Because she was thinking of this certain human every day of that part of her life. While she was living in her cave alone."

I knew who he was talking about. Sierra was distrusting and hating humanity for what happened to her, but she was always thinking about Eric. He was the only human who ever loved her. Wayne did tell me that she only distrusted and hated humanity back then. She even bullied any human who found her. But she couldn't bring herself to kill anyone. She didn't want to repeat what happened at the castle. She was guilty for what happened. I saw the image on the wall, showing Sierra sobbing in her cave, her head buried in her paws.

Marcus rose one finger, as the image on the wall changed again, "I've been trying to find a way to get her to be my apprentice. For years, I have. Until the modern days came. And you know the whole story after that." The wall showed Wayne entering Sierra's cave with a camera in his hands. He was trying to take a picture of her, while she was asleep. That's when I knew what that one was about. That was when Wayne was trying to expose Sierra to the world, but he failed and then things changed between them. A friendship that started, that soon blossomed into love.

Marcus gritted his teeth in anger, "You know how the humans and dragons, began to co exist." I saw the image on the wall, showing dragons walking on the streets of a human town, being greeted by the people that live there. Marcus went on, "And I saw how abnormal all of that was. Humans and dragons were never together like this. It seemed to disgust me. Even what Sierra was doing with Wayne, was abnormal." Then he pointed at me, "Even what you were doing with Rain, was abnormal too." His face showed a smile now, "To be honest, a little bit AFTER the modern times started, I knew how to get her to work for me. I knew how."

I looked at Sierra once more and asked Marcus, while my focus is on her, "So...How did you get her to come to you?"

Marcus patted my shoulder and pointed a the wall, "Look at the wall." I did what he said and saw the image on the wall changing. It continued to show Sierra, along with Wayne and the others, including Rain talking to each other, having a good time. I can see how Sierra was so happy with her friends. She really was that kind of dragoness, just like Rain. Marcus explained, as he joined his gaze on the wall with me, "Despite how happy she was, I've kept my tabs on her. I still wanted her as my apprentice. I still thought she was perfect. Perfect, for my plan."

Huh? What's he talking about? I asked without looking at him, "What plan?"

He giggled, "You'll see. Now pay attention." He motioned his hand to the wall, as the image changed once again, to show Wayne and Sierra gazing lovingly into each other's eyes. Marcus said, "That's when I finally came to the conclusion, that maybe I don't need her hatred towards humanity to grow. Because that kind of anger, is already in there. Even when she thinks it's not there, it is. It's within all dragons. Even when they can forget what humanity in the past has done, that anger's welling up in every scaly being in that city." He nodded to himself, "And that's, when I finally went on with my plan to make her as my apprentice."

The image on the wall now showed Sierra squirming in bed, she appeared to be having a bad dream. Marcus explained some more, "I started making her give in, mental wise. I began to use my small magic tricks to give her dreams about my home. To show her, where her new home's at. I even showed her me. I even talked to her in her dreams, more than once. Telling her that I'm her master. I've been doing that to her, for months. Until that night, I used my magic to whisper in her ear, telling her to come to me." That's when I saw the image change again, showing Sierra waking up from bed, while Wayne's asleep. She appeared to not wake him up. And what also appeared, is that Sierra was in some kind of trance. She didn't blink at all. Sierra walked out of her room, leaving Wayne alone. I gasped, seeing what just happened. Wayne said to me, that she got up in the middle of the night, while he was sleeping. And she disappeared in the night, before the day when....Wait a second. I think I see what's going on, now.

I just watched Sierra while in her unblinking trance, walk on the street outside her house and she took off to the skies. Flying far away from the dragon city. The images changed and that's when she showed up at the cave, showing Marcus standing outside of it. Sierra didn't snap out of her trance. Marcus then beamed at Sierra and began to walk up to her. Then he reached up with his hand and touched her. That's when the magic from the stone on the staff glowed and it emitted it's magic, into Sierra. That's when the trance in her eyes went away and her eyes appeared to be normal. Sierra looked down at Marcus and said, "Are you my master?" Marcus smiled up at her and nodded. Then Sierra asked with a small nod, "How may I serve you, master?" I gasped at the image on the wall. Good god, that's what really happened to her!

Marcus said with a big smile, "As soon as she showed up, I walked up to the big girl and touched her, finally having total influence on her. That whisper spell was, I believe a temporary thing. That didn't mean I had REAL control over her. But when she showed up, I do now. She became my apprentice that night. At that moment, she never brought up Wayne, or anyone ever again. Like she has forgotten them. She considers me as her master. Considers me her only friend. She did exactly, as I said." Then he started to laugh, "And that's when my first part of my plan, finally came into the circle."

I glared at Marcus now, "What are you talking about?" He pointed and I looked at the wall. The image changed and showed Marcus and Sierra that night still. He placed his hand on Sierra's body and the green stone glowed more brighter than before. Marcus appeared to have a concentrated look on his face. He's thinking real hard about something, he must be performing a spell. And then the green light came from both Marcus and Sierra, and it floated up in the air, until it exploded up in the sky. Sending down a lot of green stars that fell all over the place. Then another image replaced that one, and it showed several of those stars falling down slowly into a town. They disappeared through the roofs of people's houses. Another image replaced that one and now it showed, a person sleeping in his bed. As that magic green star, landed on the guy's forehead. It dissipated and faded into his mind.

Then another image showed another place in the world. Those stars were falling through several rooftops in a city now. My guess is that, they appeared to be traveling and falling all over the world. And another image went away to be replaced by another one. Showing now the next day after that night. It showed...Humans screaming at a few dragons, screaming monsters at them. They were running away in terror. Then the wall's image showed...Rain, seeing Tommy and then she got shot by him! My eyes went wide. Oh my god, I was right!

Marcus did this! He was the one who had humanity forget that dragons are friends and allies. Those falling green stars, were a part of Marcus's spell. He needed Sierra to make that big trick happen and it worked! That was his plan that he was talking about. To make humanity forget dragons. I think, I know why Wayne and Amanda weren't affected by the spell, why they still remember their dragons as friends. I think, it has something to do with the invisibility cloak that surrounds the dragon city. Because Wayne and Amanda were in the city during that night. Those falling green stars, couldn't go through that cloak and it protected them from the spell. But unfortunately, the spell worked on everyone else outside the city. That's why Tommy has forgotten Rain and his love for her. It's because of Marcus! That bastard!!

But wait! He said that was one part of his plan. What's his other part? The image finally went away from the wall and the magic disappeared. I slowly turned to Marcus and he turned to me as as well. He nodded, "So now...You know the truth, Brandon."

I nodded slowly at him, saying in a soft voice, "It was you. You did this to everyone."

Marcus was just doing his evil smile at me, "Finally put the pieces together. You did gave your word to Wayne and the others, that you would find the truth. But you didn't know where to look. Since you're here, might as well show you. And now you know it. Now you know everything."

I was glaring at him, feeling so angry that he did this to Rain and Tommy. That he did this to everyone. That he ruined everything. I said accusingly, "YOU were the one who did this."

Marcus just shrugged his shoulders, "Uhhh, duh." Then he laughed, "It was so easy to do! Making all humanity forget everything about dragons. They've been with dragons for nine years, and now...Everything just went poof and it's all thanks to me!"

I snarled, "You son of a bitch!" I tried to lunge at him, but Sierra's frame got in between me and Marcus, shooting down a glare at me. I stopped myself and looked up at her, changing my expression to show a pleading look, "Sierra, snap out of this! This isn't who you are!"

Sierra hissed, "Shut up."

I shook my head and backed away from her, "Listen to me, Sierra! Don't do this! You're on the wrong side! Marcus is just using you! He doesn't love you, at all! Think about your friends. Think about Rain, Neal, Cody, and Joanna! Think about Wayne, your mate! And think about Amanda, your daughter!"

Sierra angrily said this to me, "I don't have any friends, only my master. I don't have a mate. And most of all, I DON'T HAVE A DAUGHTER."

I protested, "Yes, you do! You do!"

Marcus was laughing away and he walked around Sierra's frame to get past her to face me, "Forget it, kid. She doesn't do what anyone else says. She does what I say."

I shot a glare at the monster in the purple robe, "How can you do this? How can you do this to everyone? How can you do this...To Rain? Why? Why are you doing all this?"

Marcus expression changed to solemn and he answered, when Sierra turned her whole body to face me behind him, "Because humanity deserves this. Humanity has deserved what has been coming to them for years. They have murdered my kind for years." Then he lowered his gaze to the floor, "My parents including. My mother died, before I hatched from my egg, and as for my father, he died when I was an adolescent. I was just lucky that I knew how to hunt on my own. And it's all humanity's fault, they both died. Along with countless other dragons. They never showed any heart. They all deserved to pay." He began to glare, when he took his gaze back to mine. He shot his hand toward the wall, "YOU saw what the humans did to me! They almost took my life too! And that's another reason why every last one of them should pay! That's why I was still alive, that was why I was given a second chance at life. To make humanity pay for their sins!!"

I shouted, "But the ones that tormented you and your kind, have died a long time ago!"

"Then their descendants will pay for what they've done!!!"

I was just standing there with my jaw dropped, and Marcus said this, "Humanity never changes. Dragons are so naïve that they would change. They would just throw away all caution in the wind, just to be friends with them. But humanity has attacked them, after nine years of living together. Why do you think that every human in the whole world just hated any dragon they see? They never cared."

I shouted angrily at him, "They never hated the dragons! You made them that way!"

He argued, "I was showing every dragon, the truth! They all deserved the truth!"

I shook my head and argued again, "You're despicable. Making humanity forget, just to show the dragons the truth? That's not showing them the truth, that's showing you being cruel. You did that to humanity. You've played every human's mind with your spell, and made them hate dragons and turn their backs on them. They never hated dragons at all. You've gotten several dragons hurt, and made them feel betrayed. It wasn't humanity's fault, this was your fault."

Marcus replied, "Humans and dragons, can never co exist. We never did. They have killed a lot my kind, and never regretted it. There was never any kind of change. And I did, what I had to do." Then he nodded when he softened his gaze, "And what happened sixty six years ago, was the beginning. You see in order for humanity to really pay for their sins, I have to kill them all."

My eyes went wide, "What? How?"

He answered with a grin, "To have all my fellow dragons living in the dragon city join me, to wage war against humanity." I frowned at his words, wondering how's he planning to do that. Marcus explained, "In order to do THAT, I have to work on a spell, that'll have me have total influence on all the dragons who live there. To have them work for me by my own will. To have every one of them who've felt hurt and betrayed by humanity, work for me as their master. After all like I said, the anger's within all of them. One dragon working for me, wouldn't be enough. Try to imagine A LOT of dragons working for me and all of us fighting against humanity and win. I know what humanity is like these days, but I do know their weak spots. Fighting humanity these days, wouldn't be a problem. Here's the thing, the spell takes time to make it work and for sixty six years, I've been working on building it with Sierra here. Every year as time goes by, my spell gets stronger. Waiting for the time to make it happen. Without her, I don't have the power to make it happen. And...I think, I'm close to doing it."

I clenched both fists tightly, "You're using Sierra to make another powerful spell?! To have more dragons work for you, by controlling them?! You're sick! You can't do this!"

He laughed again, "Yes, I can! I made one big trick happen, I'll make it happen again!! Humanity will all perish and die, for their own sins. For taking away my kind's lands and making us feel like we're the lesser creatures. For murdering us, day after day. Well they're wrong! We're the bigger creatures, humanity is the lesser ones!"

I shrugged with both hands, "So, why do you need me? Why am I here? You hate humans so much, then why the hell am I still alive?"

He answered, "Because of your gift, that's why."

I drew back my head, with my eyes widened, "My gift? What do you mean?"

He replied, "I know that you can see visions. And I know about your dreams too. How I know that exactly? Well it's because the stone gave me an image in my brain, showing me that you're the kind of human, who is like a psychic. That you can see things in the future. I do know everything about you and your life. Including your father." He giggled and pointed right at me, "I do know that you had a dream about your father, and he died for real. And that's how you know about your gift." He nodded at me, "To be honest, and I'm sure you might say no...I want you to join us."

I narrowed my gaze at him, "What?"

Marcus remarked with another giggle, "I'll be more honest with you, at first I wanted to kill you. Because what that image in my brain showed me, that you SOMEHOW found out what happened way back then, and then you SOMEHOW had a vision showing you where I'm hiding. I was afraid that you would have those visions, then you'd tell your friends where I live, and then I'm dead. I wanted Sierra to kill you at first, but then an idea came to me. I wanted you to join us, because of your gift. So I asked Sierra to let you live, and bring you here to me. Yes, I do see a lot of things that were from the past, that's how I know about your past and family, and I do see some things in the present. But the problem is...I don't see a lot of things in the future. I do sometimes, but the problem with that is that they're rare. VERY, VERY rare. That's why I need you alive and you're here with me, so you can tell me what future holds for me. So when you see any vision that reveals my future, you'd warn me. I know that you're a human, but I'm willing to give my idea, and mostly you a chance. Besides, you'll be doing a favor for my kind."

I shook my head at him, "I won't do this. I won't be your tool."

Marcus waved a hand at me, the green stone glowing because of his anger, "Do you even care about MY kind at all? Do you have a problem with what happened to dragons back then? Do you even care?"

I stared at him with my narrowed look and I began to nod, "I do."

He asked, "Then why are you declining my offer?"

I said, "Because this is wrong. Everything you ever did, was wrong." I waved a hand at him, "Yes, it was horrible that humanity was heartless back then. Yes, I can understand why you'd think that they're monsters, because of how they've treated you. I do care a lot about dragons, more than you think. I sympathize what happened to you and your family, it was horrible. None of that, was supposed to happen." I shook my head at him, "But what you did with humanity sixty six years ago, how you've hurt everyone, including Rain. And using Sierra for your own deeds, controlling her and all...You say that humanity's still the monster, but the truth is you're the monster. In fact, you're worse than Gerry."

I was clenching my fist so hard, it started shaking, "You were the one who ruined everything. And why you did all those things, it's because you couldn't accept that humanity has changed. You were blinded by your own hatred, towards my kind. You didn't let go of the past and instead, you did a VERY terrible thing. Humanity wasn't the monster anymore, you are. You hurt my friends, Tommy....Even Rain. The dragon that I love."

Marcus rolled his eyes, "Humans and dragons, getting together like that. That really is disgusting. Humans and dragons becoming friends and lovers, is not normal!"

I sneered, "You're wrong, you sick bastard!" His eyes went wide and I went on, "It is normal. Dragons and humans, are alike. Sure we may look different, but we all have emotions and feelings. You may not believe it, but we're all alike. In fact, dragons are like humans too. Humanity didn't see it that way, back then. But in the modern days, humanity has changed for the better and they did see dragons as humans. That's why they all became friends to begin with." I gestured to Sierra, "Sierra didn't care if Eric was a human back then, she loved him no matter what he is. And she loved Wayne too. She saw Wayne as a dragon living inside a human, and he saw Sierra as a human living inside a dragon. That's why they don't care. Our species are more alike, than you think. And that's why I love Rain, so much. That's why I didn't want to let her go. She's a human, just like me. And you hurt her years ago, she was happy back then, and you took her first love away from her. She loved Tommy, and you ruined that! You're the monster, Marcus! Humanity's not the bad guy in this, humanity has changed and you didn't accept it. You chose not to see it, and you didn't care. You are the one, who's the monster. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID."

Marcus snarled, "I didn't do anything wrong!"

I pointed a accusing finger right at him, "OH, YES YOU DID!" I shot my hand back down, "You don't care about anyone, but yourself. You don't care if you've controlled every dragon, including Sierra. All you want them for, is tools of destruction. You were just saying that you want to give me a chance, despite that I'm a human. But you don't care about me, you just want to use me as well. You'd use anything to get what you want. Not to mention, you've caused Rain a lot of pain. Rain was more hurt, than ever before. But despite that, she's a STRONG POWERFUL WOMAN, despite all the crap you've put her through! Despite what you put the dragons and humanity through, there's hope! There is still a chance for all of us to co exist! And if I were you, I'd reverse the spell and make things right. And also, reverse your spell off of Sierra and give her back her life! I will NOT, work for someone like you. I will not tolerate to work for someone who has hurt Rain, and everyone. I won't do it. And if you want to kill me, go ahead. I'm not scared of you!"

Marcus softened his look to a devious smile, "Nah, I'm not going to kill you...Yet. In fact, I'm just going to cut you some slack and give you time to think about it. It's morning outside now, and I'm willing to give you the whole day to make up your mind. When night comes, you better make up your choice." Then he beckoned me with his hand, "Come, pal. I'm going to take you to your room, to sit around in and think about your choice."

Honestly, I was glad that I'm not dead right now. So maybe there might be a chance to escape. Which, I hope there is. I looked up at Sierra, she was still glaring down at me. God...How can she go back to normal? She's not listening to me. Hell, she doesn't remember her friends, nor Wayne.

Or does she? Well if she does a little, then what can me or any of my friends do to have her normal again? She has obviously watched over me and my friends before. Pretty sure she has watched over Wayne along with me, but she doesn't seem normal after seeing him. There has to be something that'll help her remember and snap out of this. I'm sure as hell know that Marcus won't reverse the spell. He's not going to give up.

Sierra growled down at me, cutting through my thoughts, "Move it, human."

I nodded and began to follow Marcus from behind, while Sierra's following behind me. I heard Marcus's robe rusting through the ground with each step he's making. As I was following Marcus, he was leading me across the chamber, to a stone hallway. A hallway that's wide enough for both human and dragon to fit in. About several more feet in the hallway, Marcus opened up some big wooden door and he said with a slow gesture towards the door, "Here's your room."

I shot a glare at him, before I entered the room. It was like a small enclosed room, with walls that are made of stone on each side of the room. I walked inside and Marcus said this when I turned around to face him, "Well I hope you stay comfortable. See you tonight, Brando."

I shook my head adamantly at him, "I'm not going to give in."

Marcus let out a sigh, "Stubborn. But you know what? If Rain knew you were in danger, and found out you were here, think about what would happen if she gets here."

I hissed through my teeth, "If I find out if you EVER touch her, I'll kill you."

Marcus gave me a wave, before he gripped the door, "See you tonight." Then he shut the door tight and locked it, leaving me in here alone. There's a small opening through the door and I peeked through it. Seeing Sierra walking with Marcus behind him. I let out a sigh. Sierra...This isn't who you are. There has to be a way to have her back to normal. I know she's in there...Somewhere.

Wayne loves you, big girl.

I began to back away from the door, Rain on my mind. Rain....

Marcus said that it's morning now, so Rain's awake by now I'm sure. God....She's going to be so worried about me. She's probably searching for me now.

But how the hell, is she going to find me here? Heck even if she did, what would happen to her? Would she get killed by Sierra? Or would Marcus use some of his magic to have her work for him? I honestly hope, neither's the case. Besides, this cave with the chamber could be anywhere. There's no way, she'll find me here.

Rain...I love you.

I whirled around and stared at the wall of the small room that I'm in. Letting out a sigh. I don't see anyway out of this small room, but I need to find a way to get out of here. I need to escape.

But how?
