Josh swore, as his paws un-clenched, his fingers reaching for the front brake and his long, pale foot touched on the brake pedal of the motorbike he rode. As it come to a halt, he tipped his Akubra hat back on his head and sighed. Using his heel to push down the kickstand, he turned off the motorbike and stepped off, his heavy tail sliding off the seat and landing on the red dust with a thump. Frustrated, he marched over to the four strand fence, then stood and rested his paws on his hips and looked at the torn and snarled barbed wire.

"Those god damned Emu's - again!"

With a sigh, he swept his Akubra off his head, a darkly furred paw scratching at his brownish/grey fur on the neck, as his his long tubular ears flicked, before a rivulet of salty sweat trickled down the back of his head and soaked into the fur on his back.

Flies buzzed and hovered, as she swiped aimlessly at them, completely without realising he did it. He tilted his head back and his dark, chocolate coloured eyes squinted as he stared up at the merciless, blazing sun that baked this dry, thirsty land. Idly, one paw reached down over his naked chest, the creamy fur streaked with sweat trails and the reddish-brown of the dust, before the claws idly scratched at the firm, taut musculature of his stomach and a lopsided grin slowly spread across his lips. His mind wandered for a moment, before he blinked and the magic was shattered, as he sighed and pulled his hat back on his head, feeling the sweat-stained hatband grip his head tightly, as he poked his ears through the slits and absently used the dusty pads on his hands to wipe the sweat from his muzzle.

"Just what I needed - " Josh sighed as he turned about, the black tail tip brushing the russet soil as he turned back to his motorbike and swore as he felt the blistering sun had heated the cover on the box to what felt like a near-molten state.

Using a stick, he unlatched the box and flipped it up, before scratching at his neck again and pondering. He prided himself on carrying an assortment of parts, spares and other tools in the little box he carried on the back of the motorbike - but he only had enough to do a temporary fix on this broken fence line. Taking the long handled heavy duty pliers, some lengths of 20 gauge wire and a small ball of old bailing twine, Josh grumbled to himself and fell to his job, as his ears flickered and the flies lit on his shoulders, drinking the salty sweat which began to streak down through his fur, leaving tracks like those he had once seen in the channel country, so many years ago.

Josh worked on the fence for two hours, the deceptive muscles that rippled beneath his furred forearms taught as he pulled two broken ends of wire together, paws gripping the pliers as he looped a spare piece of wire through the ends, then pulled it tighter - the thigh muscles bulging as his long feet dug at the soil and he strained to loop the wire together, then finally, he managed to get the strands taught enough to put several twists into it with flicks of his wrists and the heavy pliers.

With a grunt, he finished the twisting, then used a claw on his paw to test the strength of the bonds - knowing from experience that when temporary fixes let go, especially with barbed wire - it could whip around you faster than a striking King Brown Snake. It twanged suitably, and he listened, leaning his head close, before he was satisfied it'd hold - at least until he could get back to the station and get some helpers to come back and fix it properly.

Satisfied with his work, Josh returned to his motorbike and stood it upright, before he used his heel to begin kicking the starter, until it finally coughed and stared, before he drew back the kickstand and gave it a firm grip on the throttle, feeling the 800cc engine eagerly growl with power, before he set one foot on the ground and with a practised flick, spun it about and opened the throttle fully open.

Within seconds, it was flying down the road, a rooster tail of dust and small pebbles flicking from the rear wheel, as Josh revelled in the hot, dry air that blasted against him. Even though the ambient air temperature was about forty degrees, Josh didn't mind the dry country air - sure, you felt warm, but having visited the city once - that humidity there had sucked the life from him and nearly killed him. He pulled the brim of his Akubra hat down further, then squinted as he hightailed it for the station, his mind on his beloved wife, and a nice cold beer they would share at the pub that night...

*

He skidded to a halt on the edge of the station, then tilted his hat back and put down the kickstand again, before he slipped off the bike and tried to beat the dust off his pale grey chest fur and tan pants. He coughed and then sneezed, before wiping away the ring of sweat and dust that surrounded his eyes, as he marched across the Kikuyu grass and stepped up into the blissful shade of the bull nosed verandah and gripped the screen door frame.

"You think you're coming in, with enough dust and dirt on your body to fill a dam - " Come a sharp growl from down the hallway, the voice feminine, but the intensity made Josh pause and a tremor ran down his furred spine.

Josh smiled, a nervous laugh escaping him, before he bowed theatrically, sweeping his Akubra hat off his head as he backed down the verandah and turned right, walking along the from the of the station house, and heading to the outdoor shower. Here, he filled the old canvas shower bag and reached up and hung it up, before he slipped his pale paws into the waist of his shorts and slid them down his finely furred legs. Reaching up, he twisted the nozzle on the shower bag and titled his head up so the stream of water ran down over his nose, cheeks and head, before spattering onto his shoulders and chest.

Giving himself a quick rinse off, he watched as the water turned from clear to a reddish brown as the dust and dirt sluiced off his furred body, then he turned the nozzle off and reached for a cake of soap and began scrubbing his fur vigorously, building it into a thick lather of soap. Working his claws into the lather, he raked them up and down his body, ensuring he got in against the skin and dislodged any dust and dirt. When he finished, his body from ear tips to tail and ankles was coated in the sticky soap.

Turning the nozzle a third time, he began washing the soap off himself, scrubbing with his claws to make sure he got every last bit off, before he felt the stream slow to a trickle, then a few measly drops. As naked as the day he was born, he stepped from the three sided corrugated shower stall and shook himself, feeling refreshed and reinvigorated, he used an old threadbare towel to start drying himself off. Walking back behind the station house, he sniffed and a smile creased his furred lips as he inhaled the scent of freshly baked bread. Acting assertive and dominant, he slammed open the rear screen door then strode into the kitchen, led by his nose towards the bread that cooled on a windowsill.

Before he could reach it, he squealed and jumped, as a wooden spoon smacked against his rump with a loud slap and he grinned lopsidedly and rubbed at his rump, before turning around. With an angry glare in her eyes, his beloved wife stared back through hazel eyes, her golden fur catching the sunlight that shone through the windows, her muzzle curled back in a snarl as she crossed her pale arms over her chest and glared at him.

"Touch that bread, and we'll have kangaroo tail stew for dinner - " Cassie growled.

Smiling innocently, Josh grinned at her, then tilted his head to the side and favoured her with his most sweet, innocent look, ears back-swept and paws clasped before him.

"You're far from innocent young Buck - " Cassie snorted, then looked the naked Kangaroo up and down, before she quirked a tan eyebrow appreciatively. "Get dressed, or I'll forgo dinner and eat a nice lithe young Buck..."

"Mmm," Josh snickered, as he caressed her cheek with the back of his paw. "I like the sounds of that!"

Cassie snorted, then as she turned away, Josh took his chance and gripped the Dingo around her hips and rubbed his groin sensuously against her tail and rump. Cassie groaned, then she twisted about and her paws gripped Josh firmly by the penis and she squeezed lightly, making the Kangaroo gasp and flatten his ears, as she raised a single eyebrow.

"Keep it up Joey..." Cassie smiled, a predatory expression on her pale muzzle.

"Point...taken..." Josh whispered, before Cassie let him go and he stumbled backwards, clutching at his groin and moaning in mock-agony.

"Oh, please...if I wanted to hurt you, I could have - " Cassie laughed, watching Josh's performance.

Josh snickered, then flexed and posed, showing off the lithe musculature beneath his thin fur, but even this performance failed to arouse much interest in the Dingo, who merely snorted and turned back to the stove as she removed another loaf of bread.

"Fine!" Josh giggled, then moved to swat Cassie's rump, but she flicked an ear and caught his paw mid-swing, then twisted it slightly, causing him to wince and laugh nervously.

"Your body is not thinking this through, youngster - " Cassie snickered, before she turned and set the bread on the table, then pulled the Kangaroo close and wrapped her arms around his hips.

"Oh, it's thinking alright - It's thinking I got the most loving, gentle, adorable Dingoette I could ever have hoped to marry, this side of the black stump - "

Cassie stared into Josh's eyes, before she rolled her own, then pulled him tight and began passionately kissing him. Josh grinned and returned the affections, trailing his claws down Cassie's blouse, before giving her a gentle grope on the rump in affection.

"Quit that!" Cassie growled, then nipped Josh on the throat hard enough for him to feel her sharp canines pricking his jugular.

"Mmmm - I do so love a dominant Dingo..." Josh giggled, before he cuddled her more appropriately, then stepped back. "I probably should go get dressed, can't head to the pub with just my fur on!"

Cassie grinned and swatted his rump, making him blush and tremble.

"Oh, I don't know - might be entertaining - you could be mistaken for a Doe, with that tiny little thing between your legs!" Cassie taunted him playfully.

"Little?" Josh snorted, then turned around and looked down at his penis, which hung at an impressive length. "First time you've complained about it..."

Cassie snickered and winked. "Here I was, thinking all this time, you were pleasuring me with your tail...maybe the Joey is growing up after all!"

Josh snorted, stamping a long slender foot on the timber floor, before resting his paws in a cocked motion on his hips, glaring at Cassie.

"Oh, please, you're as dominant as cooked Spaghetti, now go get dressed, I don't know about you, but I could go a counter-lunch and a beer or two...I'm hungry, I've been cooking all day, whilst you've been off gallivanting around the paddocks, doing gods know what - " Cassie teased him, a loving twinkle in her hazel eyes.

Josh snorted, then chuckled and turned about, before walking down the hallway, his long talons clicking on the timber floor, as he moved to the bedroom and prepared to get dressed for their night out...
