My Destiny: The Day After
My Destiny
The Day After
I had a sleepless night last night I felt something was going horrible. It made me fearful; I have to shake it off though. All night I could smell fire paper was burning and there were trees burning. I have never felt anything like it. It is before dawn, I have to wait till dawn to talk to the emperor.
While I waited I practiced meditation to clear my thoughts. It helped a little I was at least less fearful. While I was in a deep trance the emperor walked in by himself. He was being incredibly quiet, I could hardly pick up his feet setting on the ground. He was pretty tall, for a tiger.
"Morning Majesty," I said calmly.
"I didn't think you could hear me," Tagina said shocked.
"I trained myself to not react to the slightest sound, Majesty" I replied.
"Well it seems it has proven quite well," Tagina said.
"Thank you Majesty," I said.
"I want to talk to you about your future," he told me."You are going to accompany me to the capital. You will come as my vassal, this should suit you. I will teach you on the way to be a welcome sight. You are a hero to people you must act you're part."
"I think you are a bit more of a solid person. This will make your appearance a bit more warrior like. I do want to know if you want to do anything. I know you want to go back to your home town. I have thought about it all night. We will go there, however, I am hesitant because the fighting is so close to there."
My prayers were answered; I was going to see my family and friends again. We talked for several hours. After he left I donned my armor, and followed the emperor around until he was ready to leave. I said good bye to my friends and to my honored teachers.
We then proceeded to leave and as the emperor said he knew I was attracted to a girl in my home town. He was spot on, I did want to see her again even if she would not have me. I feel every time I think about her I get butterflies.
"You truly love that girl don't you," Tagina said.
"More than the world means to the kami," I replied.
"I understand, I once felt that way for my own wife," Tagina said understandingly.
We traveled for weeks on foot. We were just on hill away, and we would be there. I was getting as excited as a little kit. I hoped she would recognize me she has been all I have thought about since I started my training. When we arrived the town was still standing.
The emperor told me I could go on ahead. So I ran on ahead, to my old home. I had left my naginata behind so as to appear non-threatening. I knocked on the door, I waited for an answerer. Then a kindly woman answered the door. It took her a second to recognize me but she figured it out.
"Haku, its been so long I thought id never see you again," she sobbed as she hugged him.
We talked for several minutes I had asked if Fanca was still here and unmarried. She and I also headed to go and pay respects to my father. She and I also saw the emperor. While she was talking to him I went to go and see Fanca. I remembered the old way I knocked on the door.
I waited for someone to answerer the door. When someone did she was shocked to see me. I had recognized her right away while she took some time. I extended my hand in a fashion that we did as little children. Then she recognized me right away.
"Haku," she exclaimed, "it's been so long I thought you were in the current war."
" Thought I would be thrust right into to it as well," I said comfortingly.
We talked for several hours her parents were glad to see me. They agreed to let me marry their daughter. I was glad of that; I feared that they wouldn't allow it as is their right. I let the emperor know we are to be married the next day. I let her know the good news she was incredibly excited, I was too...
