#2 of Changing Seasons

Okay, again, I must apologize. I'm kinda rushing here because I want everything to be posted before valentine's day. This time, only a few part of Louis' past is revealed. I'll give the full flashback another day.

FRIENDS

25 December

Lightwood County Hospital

Louis stared blankly towards the window of his hospital room. The doctors told him he got 3 broken ribs, a punctured lung, a cracked cranium, a dislocated shoulder, and a bad ankle sprain. Luckily, his concussion didn't cause any brain damage. He sighed deeply. He knew his secret was out due to the fighting he caused last night. He heard a knocking on the door of his room.

"Come in," he answered. The door swung and Lionel entered the room with Alex.

"How are you feeling?" Lionel asked.

"Depressed," Louis sighed. He turned his head towards the young boy. "Sorry you have to see me being beaten up."

"It's okay," Alex responded.

Moments away, another knock was heard on the door. The door opened slowly. Kelly and Matt were standing on the doorway holding a bouquet of white roses. Lionel glared angrily at them while Alex cowered behind him.

"Easy there Lionel," Louis calmed him. Lionel just walked to the side of his cousin's hospital bed. Lionel turned towards the young couple. They brought a bouquet of white roses on their arms.

"If you want to beat me senselessly again, do it," Louis turned away. "I'm in no condition to run from you.

"Listen, Louis," Matt rubbed his head, "I'm sorry that I was acting like a total jerk for these years. I haven't really thought about how you feel. All I did was making you hurt even more. I never thought you'd be forcing yourself to protect someone who hurt you. I'm... really sorry."

"It doesn't matter anymore," Louis looked away. "My secret's out. Now you can tell your other friends I'm a total freak."

The couple smiled at each other for a few seconds then back to Louis.

"About that," Matt replied, "we're still going to keep it a secret."

Louis and Lionel stared at them at disbelief.

"What?"

"Nobody would believe us anyways," Kelly added.

"That's true," Louis and Lionel chuckled.

"So..." Matt handed the bouquet over, "Will you forgive us?"

Louis' eyes began to tear up again. He smiled softly and accepted the flowers. "Sure, I'll forgive you."

"Now, if there's anything we could do to you, just tell us," Matt told them. "I mean, we're friends now, right?"

"Yeah," Louis smiled, "we're friends."

"Do you need anything?" Kelly smiled.

"Well, I wanted to get out of here now. There's somewhere I wanted to visit."

"Is it okay?" Matt asked. "I mean, you're still injured, right?"

"Nope," a voice appeared from behind them. "He's alright to leave now."

The couple turned and saw a young doctor in his early 20's. His brown hair and blue eyes reflected some of the fluorescent light. He smiled kindly to the visitors.

"Everyone, this is doctor James Brown," Louis smiled. "He's an old friend of mine"

"Hello," James smiled at the couple. "And I'm guessing, you're behind this brutal incident, right?"

Matt hung his head and chuckled out of embarrassment. James just shook his head and read his notepad.

"Well, aside the broken ribs, his wounds have healed up 100 percent."

"But, that's impossible!" Kelly's eyes shot opened. "Usually, it'll take him weeks to recover!"

"Not if you have a little magic," James chuckled. Kelly and Matt stared back towards the silver haired patient.

"He specializes in healing magic," Louis chuckled. "Although, repairing bones isn't exactly his top subject."

"Well, I've increased the speed of your bones' recovery," James smiled back. "It'll only take you a week to heal."

"Thanks, James," Louis smiled. The young doctor chuckled and exited the door.

"Alright, get dressed and let's go," Matt smiled. Louis slowly got out of his bed and wore his clothes from last night. He slowly followed his new friends outside towards the hospital parking lot. Lionel and Alex gave him a hand in case he accidentally falls down. They entered Matt's blue mini van and drove towards the highway.

"Where to?" Matt asked.

"The cemetery," Louis responded.

They arrived to the only cemetery on the area and got down from the van. Louis led them to somewhere on the other side. They stopped in front of a recently cleaned gravestone. It's written under the name of Cameron and Lily Timberwolf, Louis' parents. The date of death was written 25'Th of December.

"My parents were murdered by one of the dark creatures," Louis started. "Us hunters usually call them Fiends."

"What happened?" Kelly asked

Louis faced the gravestone again. "My mother taught me the art of magic since I was little. My father disagreed at first, since he's a very religious person. He never believed in magic before because it's not religious. He sait that it was the dark art. That's why he left us.

"That Christmas, he returned to us saying that he decided to accept us for what we were. Moments later, a Reaper appeared near us and attacked us. I was lucky enough to survive because of the barrier my mother cast on me."

Louis started to smile wryly, "My parents died that night. Aunt Jill happened to stop by an hour later and found us in the middle of the living room. You can say I'm the only survivor.

"I..." Louis sniffed as he began to cry out loud, "never got the chance to play with him... It was all so sudden. I..."

"Louis," Kelly patted his back, "It's okay. You don't have to force yourself to remember that." Louis nodded and calmed himself down. He continued his life story.

"After that, she took me to this town and arranged a funeral for them. She wanted to take me as her adopted son, but I rejected her offer and rent an apartment of my own over there," he pointed towards the red bricked building across the street.

"I also found a job as a secret police officer to pay my rent."

On that note, the two couples were completely shocked. "Police!? From middle school!?"

Louis just chuckled sinisterly at them. "If I want to, I could put you under arrest for assaulting an officer."

"Noo! Please don't!" Matt backed away. The rest of the group just laughed again.

"Relax, I'm not gonna do that," Louis smiled. "So, wanna go to my house to warm up?"

They went towards the storied building across. The apartment is pretty simple with one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room, a kitchen and a dining room. They all sat down on the living room sofa facing each other.

"I'm gonna make some hot chocolate for everyone," Louis stated as he stood up. Kelly and Lionel stopped him and pushed him back down.

"You just got out of the hospital," Kelly stared at him. "You have to take your rest."

Louis sighed as everyone stared at him. "Fine, but I'm still gonna make some hot cocoa." He waved his fingers towards the kitchen and the empty cups floated towards their direction, followed by the jar of sugar and the box of hot cocoa mix. Matt and Kelly sat back and stared at the floating objects. The cups placed themselves on the coffee table in front of them and the mix poured themselves in it. Louis waved his fingers again and hot water appeared from the air and poured into every cup.

"I forgot," Matt stared at his hot cocoa, "you can use magic."

"If you want to, I could teach you guys some basic magic," Louis told them as he sipped his cup.

"Really!?" Kelly's eyes gleamed.

"Of course," Louis smiled. "You two already know the danger you're in, so you need to have a little bit more protection."

"Whoa! This is the first time I know you're concerned about someone else!" Matt spoke out bluntly.

Louis stared back to Matt and put his cup down. "You know, Matt? Maybe if you know me really well, you'd know I'm always concerned about everyone's safety. In fact, I guess that's one of the reasons I became an officer."

"Oh yeah," Kelly snapped her fingers, "speaking of which, how did you became a police officer? I mean, you'd have to be at least 20 to serve the police department."

"Well, you knew about the serial murder case that happened years ago?"

"Oh! The one about the ninja assassin thing?" Matt added. Louis nodded again and continued with his story.

"Well apparently, I used my sleuthing skills and found out his base of operation and etcetera. I went to the police department and told them the results of my investigations."

"Did they believe you?"

"Of course not! I was 14 at that time!"

"So, what did you do?" Kelly asked. Both she and Matt were at the edges of their seats. Literally.

"I made a bet."

"A bet?"

"I told them that if my deductions were correct and theirs were wrong, they'd have to let me join the forces."

"And you won?"

Louis nodded, smiling happily at the results. "The case was closed and I got a job. Now I'm the chief of the homicide division. It's like a dream come true..." Louis sighed in happiness. He realized his surroundings and started to blush.

"Oh, sorry. I kept going on and on about my self. I never had any friends ever since my parents died. Well, except Selena, of course."

"What about me?" Alex pouted.

"You're my little apprentice, silly," Louis laughed and rubbed his head."

They chatted idly on that Christmas day. Louis, for the first time on his life, was happy that he had new friends like Kelly and Matt.

...

Christmas continues on.
