A free commission for Porsche454. A horse anthro couple looks for a long lost civilization, but soon realize some civilizations are lost for a reason...

"Hurry up Joseph!" A mare said excitedly as she hacked her way through the thick jungle undergrowth. She was a force to be reckoned with at the moment, a young paint horse dressed in jungle fatigues with a machete in one hand and a camera in the other. "We could be on the verge of the biggest archeological breakthrough in the last century!"

"You always say that Maria..." A male Arabian grumbled behind her as he walked through the path his wife made through the foliage. He was also in jungle fatigues, his well-toned muscles bulged as he carried an enormous pack on his back. "You find some sort of satellite anomaly or some sort of strange irregularity in the mythos and we're off to another god forsaken place in the jungle. Just once can we have one of these adventures in a nice hotel? Or at least someplace where we don't have to sleep in tents and eat canned food and check our bags to make sure nothing poisonous is in there?"

Maria huffed and stopped in her tracks, which caused him to almost trip over himself. "Honey, when you said you wanted to travel with me for my work so we could spend more time together, I warned you that my job takes me to rather exotic locales."

"When you said exotic, I thought you meant like, Paris or something." Joseph huffed right back. "Not in the middle of the Amazon." Maria just groaned and continued her furious hacking away at the surrounding wildlife. Joseph sighed and started to walk again behind her. He knew that to argue with her now was pointless, and in any case she was downright scary while she wielded that machete. "So why are we here again?" He asked, hoping to defuse a bit of her anger.

Maria looked back at him incredulously, and then continued to trudge onward. "A local village legend speaks of an ancient temple where the Azenlu used to live."

"The Zenla?" Joseph attempted to reply as he swatted rather large bug from his face.

"The Azenlu." Maria corrected. "They were a tribe of scalefolk, rather close-knit, savage community that is said died out centuries ago. Not much is known about the tribe, just that they were very sexual in nature and worshipped a deific dragon known as Renzyl."

"That doesn't sound like a lot of information." Joseph repled.

Maria nodded as she hacked away a particularly large growth of shrubs away, her hair and shirt soaked with sweat from the jungle heat. "It's not. There are mentions of it by other tribal artifacts, but it mainly says that the Azenlu were demons and that any who were sent to speak with their tribe never came back. It's said they even conquered other tribes, which grew their power even moreso until they had an ancient dynasty not unlike the Mayans. A whole secret kingdom of scalefolk."

"And we're going to find this tribe? Fantastic." Joseph muttered.

"Relax you big baby, the tribe was long since wiped out, some say the rival tribes came in and slaughtered all of them." Maria chided. "More likely though was some natural phenomenon, like a disease, so hopefully their temples are still standing... if I can find an artifact straight from the Azenlu tribe then we'll be more famous then the people who found all those mummies in the desert." The Arabian just sighed and huffed before he almost tripped over another tree root.

Hours passed, the already dark jungle began to grow even darker as night began to fall. By now Joseph had lost all sense of direction and distance, even though it felt like they traveled for miles all the jungle made him feel like they had traveled only a short distance. Joseph mulled the thought of asking Maria to stop for the night when she suddenly picked up her pace. The jungle underbrush had thinned considerably; the canopy above them had grown thick and subsequently prevented undergrowth from growing. It was a welcome change for the both of them, Maria didn't have to pummel through the local flora and Joseph didn't have to get hit in the face with branches every minute.

"Look at this honey!" Maria exclaimed as she took several pictures of the ground. Joseph hurried as fast as he could, and saw what appeared to be a yellow, square stone about the size of the breadbox. Slightly confused, he looked over at his excited wife as she continued to take pictures, then back at the rock, then back at her again.

"It's a rock..." He said flatly.

"It's more than just a rock, I mean, look at it!" She stopped and looked up at his confused face, then back down at the stone. "There are obvious tool marks on it, and despite the wear it has straight sides that occur against the natural grain of the rock. This rock was obviously part of some sort of larger building, and with no other alleged structures in the area means this has to be of Azenlu make. It's too bad that the structure itself seems to be destroyed, but if we can find a pile of these it means... " As she looked up from her picture taking she noticed her Arabian no longer stood next to him. "Joseph? Sweetie?"

Her ears perked straight up, she heard nothing but the sound of the evening jungle insects as she looked around and found he was nowhere around her. "Joseph! You can't wander off like this! Where are you?" She got extremely nervous now, if he somehow got himself hurt...

"Over here!" She heard finally past some fallen trees. "I think I found something." Maria breathed a heavy sigh of relief and ran past the trees, almost tripping several times as the tree trucks grew closer together in this area. When she finally climbed over the last huge tree trunk she saw Joseph as he stood there, and was just about to yell at him for wondering off when she saw what he was staring it.

"Oh wow..." Was all she could say as her eyes widened in amazement. The two horses stared dumbfounded at what appeared to be a decorated cave entrance, the opening decorated by a large number of worked stone. She stepped forward, able to see strange symbols carved into the rock despite the decay of the stone. There were also several piles of rubble at the entrance, but as she carefully moved several of the rocks aside she could discern several scaly limbs, as well as a half-weathered head. "This... this is it! It has to be!" She exclaimed as she started to take many pictures.

"Uh... right..." Joseph managed to reply as he dropped the gear to the ground. His head felt slightly fuzzy, and he was having trouble remembering how he got there. He remembered that he watched Maria as she took pictures of the rock, relatively disinterested, and then he thought he heard something... and then he blinked and found himself in front of this place with Maria calling out to him.

As he tried to get himself resituated, she continued to document everything about the place. "Ready for some exploring honey?" She said giddily as she reloaded her camera with film. "These stones are so well preserved; I can't imagine what might be down in the cave. If there's a completely intact Azenlu temple in there... the possibilities could be endless!"

"I don't know, maybe we should call for an actual team before we go in." Joseph replied hesitantly. "I mean, there could be traps or something. I don't want to step on the wrong floor panel and get shot full of arrows." In reality his trepidation towards the idea stemmed from his unease, the whole place felt... wrong to him, like they shouldn't be there if they knew what was good for them.

"Not everything is like the movies Joseph." Maria responded. "But you are right; I don't want the academic world to think that I may have faked anything because we went in first and they think we faked something. I'll call a team from the college while you set up camp." Joseph grumbled as he started to take things out of the pile of equipment he plopped down.

By the time night had completely fallen, Joseph had set up both the tent and the fire; Maria sat next to the blaze and looked over one of her books as the Arabian finished the last of his trail ration. It was always nerve-wracking to him when they slept out in the wilderness. Even more so was the fact there were no ambient noises to be heard, not even the sounds of insects that he usually heard on these types of trip. The whole thing seemed off to him, but as he looked over to tell Maria she was too busy with her book to probably even listen.

"Hey, I'm going to hit the hay a little early, I'm not feeling the greatest. Good night." Joseph said as he got up. He half told the truth on that, his head did still feel funny but really he just was tired. As he expected he got a half-hearted reply from Maria, and he sighed and went into the tent and collapsed onto the sleeping bag.

When Maria finally finished what she had looked up in her text the light from the fire had faded considerably and she noticed her husband was nowhere to be found. As she put enough wood on the fire to last the rest of the night, she heard the gentle snores of the exhausted horse inside the tent. She smiled to herself and went into the tent as well, where she saw him passed out in his clothes on the floor. She cuddled up to him and held him in her arms, and quickly fell asleep next to him.

Of course, if she had been more attentive, she would have noticed the patch of scales that had mysteriously appeared on Joseph's arm...

*****************************************************

The next morning Maria woke up, and as she rolled over realized she was alone in the tent. "Joseph?" She called out as she looked around the rather small tent, then opened the flap and looked outside. The fire had burned down completely by this time, and nothing seemed misplaced except for the fact her husband was not in the campsite either.

"Probably taking a leak or something..." She said to herself assuringly. As she got up and started to move around to make herself a pot of coffee, she noticed a piece of paper that stuck up from underneath a rock. "What the..." she went over to grab the paper, and as she did so noticed another piece of paper further away from the campsite. For ten minutes or so she followed this strange paper trail, until she found herself in front of the entrance of the temple.

What in the hell is going on here? She thought to herself as she looked around the temple entrance. This was quite unlike Joseph, in fact since they gotten here he acted weirder than usual, especially since he has wondered away from him twice. Plus he didn't try and get some jungle nookie at all when she came into the tent, which made her wonder perhaps if he was sick. Now she wasn't sure what to think, but she knew one thing for sure was that she was going to get to the bottom of this. She used that thought to steel herself and she boldly stepped inside the temple.

The inside of the temple was extremely dark and surprisingly devoid of decoration and she started her way down. The walls were earthen and had a few symbols etched into it, but nothing like the entranceway. She could taste the stale air as she continued down the sloped path, as she turned the corner she had to pull out her flashlight as the sunlight disappeared behind her. Further and further down she went, at one point she stopped and looked at her watch to realize she had walked for almost ten minutes. She started to wonder if this tunnel would ever end when she took another turn and the tunnel suddenly leveled off and opened out into a large cave.

What she saw made her jaw open wide in amazement. The same yellow stone from the outside covered the inside of this room. Along every inch of the walls were symbols etched in, which glowed with a mysterious purple luminescence as she walked down the polished yellow steps. The whole temple chamber must have been at least two football fields long she guessed, as her flashlight couldn't even reach the back wall.

"My God..." Was all she could say, simply amazed by the sheer size of the room and the preserved detail of the walls and statues of lizardfolk that lined the pathway she now walked tentatively down.

"Yes?" She heard suddenly, which caused her to jump and drop her flashlight. She almost instantly began to panic, alone in the pitch dark room of an ancient civilization where she just heard a very deep voice call out to her. There was nothing she could do but wait and whimper to herself slightly, she cowered as she fumbled around for her reserve penlight.

Before Maria was able to find it, two bronze braziers suddenly flared to life, which illuminated a pyramid-like structure with a flat top that was adorned with a stone altar. Behind it a shadowy figure sat on a large, ornate throne, the creature's very presence almost seemed to beckon to her. Slowly she moved towards it, the darkness around her felt so black it was if the stone structure floated in an empty void. When she reached the stone steps the dark figure stood up, both of them seemed to move closer to each other in unison. She felt her pace quicken, and her heart threatened to leap out of her chest as she reached the top of the pyramid.

"So good for you to join me, Maria." The shadowy figure said, much to her surprise as a inky black, taloned hand reached out to help her up the last step. Now that she was up close and personal with the being she realized that it appeared to be a shadowy dragon, his scales, horns, claws, everything was a deep black and had a slightly wispy quality to it. The only thing not black was his eyes, which were a pure ivory white.

"Are... are you..." Maria managed to stammer out, not even realizing as the ominous figure led her around the altar. "You're the deity of them?"

The form chuckled, a deep bellowing sound that seemed to reverberate through the core of her being. "If you are talking about my dear Azenlu, then you could say so. But enough of me, you are quite the fantastic specimen. Such a strong will... so vehement in your pursuit of knowledge, such a curious nature about you. I have to say as soon as your spirit brushed against mine I knew you'd be perfect and had to lure you here."

"Uh... perfect?" Maria asked, her curious nature started to come back with a vengeance now that the shock had started to wear off. "Perfect for what? What is going on? Do you know where Joseph is? Why did you bring us here?"

She would have continued to asked questions if the dragon had not put a black paw over her mouth, the initial sensation was extremely cold but behind it a strange, almost familiar feeling behind it. "All will be revealed in good time, young one. But for now, there is something you must do for me to... rejuvenate my spiritual presence here on Earth. I trust I can count on you." With that the shadowy form suddenly dissipated away, which revealed the form of her husband.

"Joseph?" She said excitedly as she jumped forward and hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry I got you into this. Now let's get out of here, no discovery is worth possibly losing you." As Maria tried to leave with him, however, an extremely strong hand grasped her shoulder. She looked slowly down at it, her eyes widened as she saw the horse's nails ended in sharp points.

"Why would we leave?" He said, his voice almost sounded deeper as she was spun around to face him. Her horror only grew as she saw his normally brown eyes were now a solid gold and slitted like a lizard's. "We've been given a wonderful chance; this is your discovery of a lifetime. We're about to revitalize an entire tribe..."

Maria tried to wriggle away from his grasp, but suddenly she felt several phantom, scaly hands latch onto her and start to drag her to the altar. "There's no escape, my Maria. We've already been given the first of our gifts..." As the phantom scalefolk lifted her onto the stone slab, Joseph used his new claws to rip the clothing off her body, which exposed her lithe body to the cool air. Maria tried to scream, but as she did so she felt a phantom limb keep her mouth shut. She tried to thrash, but what felt like a multitude of ghostly scalefolk kept her held down and splayed her limbs. It quickly sapped the fight out of her, and after only a minute her tired muscles went limp.

As Maria looked over at Joseph she saw several patches of olive-colored scales cover his bulging muscles. She realized now what happened, realized too late that this place was cursed, realized as Joseph crawled up onto the slab that this was how the Azenlu conquered their enemies...

She whimpered as her former husband ran a hand down her side, which quickly turned into a moan as he brushed against a patch of scales against her side. Now she felt absolutely stupid as she didn't even realize she had them. If she had, she could have possibly realized what was going on and gotten them to safety. Now... now her thoughts started to get a little hazy as the Arabian crawled over her and nuzzled her neck. Her pussy started to slicken as he licked against her nipples, her body started to betray her as he took advantage of her restrained form.

As the ministrations continued she felt an pressure that invaded her skull, it both cut through the haze and seemed to enhance it as her legs started to spread on their own accord. Joseph sensed her crumbling resolve and smiled, which revealed his new sharper teeth as he started to grind against the mare, his thick, newly ridged cock stimulated her pussy lips and caused her will to fall almost completely right there.

"Y..yes, take me..." Maria said as the restraint was removed from her mouth, her hips able to buck against his now. "Change me... mold me... FUCK ME!" Her last words almost came out as a snarl as he grabbed her by the hips. His member, already bigger them most as a horsecock, made her feel like she was being split in half as he thrusted his head. She let out a loud groan of pleasure, her arms clamped down around him as he relentlessly shoved inch after inch of thick cockflesh into her.

Soon he had her all the way up to the hilt, her mouth open wide in a silent scream of bliss as her face twisted and shaped into a blunt lizard's muzzle, her new fangs slid down her gums as her thinner tongue lolled out. He grunted and grinded against her, her cunny stretched to the limit as he started to pound into her. All Maria could do now was bring her legs up, her toenails grew out into talons as their legs started to ripple with change. Their horsehair matted and became olive scales, though they didn't even notice as he thrusted into her savagely. The air became filled with sounds of their groans and the slaps of their scaled crotches as they became lost in their own wild animalistic lusts.

Soon after their transformations and their fierce mating came to a climax, they both roared loudly as the two new lizards came hard. Their new thicker, scaled tails spasmed and wrapped around each other as their juices dripped from their groins down the slab. As their shared orgasms began to subside the lustful haze lifted from their minds, where they noticed the temple was completely lit with torches now which allowed them to see their new scaly bodies.

As the two slowly untangled themselves from each other and stepped down from the altar they embraced, no longer an over-bearing archeologist and her husband but now the leaders of the new Azenlu tribe. They became aware suddenly of a presence with them, and they broke their kiss and smiled as they turned to the black dragon that now stood next to them. They quickly went to one knee and bowed, the shadow dragon rested his palms on their head and purred with satisfaction.

"Well done, my new lovelies." He cooed as he released their heads, a black mark emblazed on their forehead. "But this is only the beginning... soon our tribe will expand across the land and we will join everyone together." They rose up and nodded to him in understanding, their thoughts and emotions almost entwined as completely as their tails as they held their hands. The dragon god smiled as he watched his new converts, their devotion and energy gave him the life force he required, but not enough...

"Let us ready ourselves," he said, "there will be an academic team coming and they will be most curious. Let us not disappoint them."
