Hotel Emperador

Epilogue - Day 180

By Whitepython.

"There you are Alroc!"

A grinning raptor walked into the coffee shop where Alroc still worked. The saurian wore a white wife beater along navy blue straight-cut jeans. He dropped a gym bag over one of the chairs.

Alroc left the counter to approach the reptile and receive him with a heartfelt hug.

"Xadu! It's good to see you again. It gets boring after only messaging each other for months." the wolf spoke with a smile. His wagging tail demonstrating how happy he was to see his friend.

"Yeah, been busy with the gym and the application to the International Forensic College. Going to enter into the competition to get a place to become a criminal detective. Not many people are applying this year so my probabilities to get in are quite high."

"Congratulations! I remember you telling me about that in messages but I didn't knew how things went."

"I plan to become a damn good detective, the best saurian in the force." Both friends smiled at each other. Once the raptor was sure that nobody was overhearing their talk, he got closer to have a more serious conversation.

"How about you? When are you leaving this place to work in your family's clan?"

"Nah. I help them with small things here and there. After Rantego disbanded the Ascended Suns because the Incident at Emperador and the tragedy at Viru, I don't feel like I am made for that line of work."

"Come on. Don't say that. You are a Cangalo. That's a last name that means serious business in our line of work. Besides you are very good at hunting. If you don't want to work with your family, that's fine. But as soon as I become a detective, I am starting my own demon hunting clan. I'll handle all the special cases through it. And you better be ready! I don't want you rusty when I come looking for you."

The wolf stretched his hand into the coffee machine and placed down a tall cappuccino for the raptor. The reptile exchanged the brewage for a pair of bills prior to sampling it.

"I don't know Xadu," the wolf pinned down his short ears and turned his yellow gaze away from the reptile. "I'll think about it."

"No Thinking." the raptor pulled the hot drink off of his maw. "This isn't optional. We might be still rookie demon hunters, but we're partners in this! Or are you just a useless walking duster?" Both friends laughed for a moment

"I'm not saying yes or no," the wolf spoke with a smile still on his muzzle. "I'm just saying that I'll think about it."

"Don't be like that. Just say yes already and..."

A song played inside the raptor's gym bag. The reptile pulled his cellphone before checking it out.

"Well, I need to run again. I swear I can't catch a break nowadays." The raptor moved to hug the wolf in a tight embrace with his now stronger body. "I'll see you soon bro. take care!" the raptor walked emboldened in trust in himself. He knew he could lead a clan someday. He was confident that he could find a way to motivate his friend. He was sure he could motivate the wolf into returning to the path of demon hunting someday.

"Yes. Everything went according to plan regardless of the unexpected event. In the end, the goddess was right as always. The decoy dimension was wiped out."

It was a dark room illuminated by seven dark candles. A figure in dark robes sat down before an Ouija board. A masculine voice spoke alone in a calmed, yet authoritative voice after reading from the divination board.

"Nobody suspected that I was the insider who kept you well informed.

"No. they never discovered my true intentions. Neither the survivors from Viru suspected anything. Thy never knew that everything at Viru was a setup to kill as many of them as possible.

"Of course sir. My cover also involved that stupid cat. He never suspected it was all arranged since the graveyard case. He was too stupid to know that he was a pawn.

"It's a shame that the original plan couldn't be carried. It would have been a beautiful sight having that lion committing suicide once he had discovered that everything was a lie and the police was hunting him down for multiple murder. It would have also been a low blow to all the demonic hunting clans in the country.

"Yes. I understand sir.

"I am as willing as day one to join the Oracles of the True Enlightment. I desire to become a servant to the goddess Scaoubohr.

"No need to worry about that Sir. I disbanded that clan months ago. I did it as soon as it became mine. The few survivors from Viru were so demoralized about Jantheno that they quitted demon hunting for good." The voice spoke with confidence. The planchette of the board was squeezed by a pair of talon-hands with several black feathers protruding from them.

"Yes, that includes the two rookies that interfered. They never got consecrated. They also quitted demon hunting.

"Understood.

"Soon I shall finally meet you and the goddess at room 715"

"Yes. Me too"

"Goodbye Most excellent Sir Tenabochi..."
