A New Life in a New Body

The Proposal

We had a funeral for Klaw; we couldn't recover his body so we put some of his worldly possessions in the casket. It was the saddest funeral I had ever attended. He went out the same way he came to this world like a man. People don't come like that anymore.

The next day we were in the local news and paper. Not our faces but just what they called our group. It called us a nominal threat, nothing to worry about. We were proud that we were making headlines, they know we exist. I guess no government cover-ups could hide this. Well then again they also connected us to all of the murders.

I needed to get to a central location where they couldn't find hundreds of thousands of us. I know there had to be somewhere like that. There has to be we, need to get a place where we can start a resistance. There just has to be. Lisa sensed something was wrong.

"Nightmare again," she asked logically, as I had been having terrible nightmares.

"No, I was just thinking we need to find a place we can hide more than just four," I admitted.

"Where do you suggest we do that," she inquired.

"Well there are a bunch of abandoned facilities that the government never uses," I said.

"Klaw knew of such a place," she said, "he told me to keep it until we were ready to get out of here. He gave me a map depicting its location, if you feel it's time we can go. Its up in the mountains and there are thousands who are there."

"why didn't you tell me," I asked hurt, bewildered, and enthused.

"I was afraid you weren't the one," she admitted ashamed.

"Well for a while I myself didn't think I was either," I told her.

I told her I wasn't mad and we embraced, the next day we would leave. She was a truly attractive fur I had never run across such beauty before in my life. In the morning we left the house, and we headed towards the mountains. It took almost all day, but when we arrived at the mountains we figured the Sniffers couldn't detect us.

We found the location a fur greeted us. I looked the least convincing; they had to check it with Lisa. Chris was in the back sniggering about the fact I was so awkward around them. It wasn't like I had been there before. Everyone had been here at least once. I was used to mountainous areas though it reminded me of my early deployment days in the Nebron mountain range.

They gave me and Lisa our own room up on the third floor, as well as Chris. He was an ok guy if not somewhat a pain. Lisa and I were apprehensive about the whole thing but it was just a matter of time I would have to talk to all of them. I just hope they will listen.

Lisa was being a bit more friendly as of recently. By that I mean she was kissing me in public, and just wanting to go out and have some fun. We were having as much fun as little kids did in a candy shop. Chris also was having a romantic interest of his own, a fine looking she-wolf. Then several days later Lisa woke me up.

"What is it, its like three in the morning," I said slightly irritated.

"Do you love me," she asked me.

"Yes," I replied.

"Then why don't you ask me to marry you," she asked

Well she brought up a good point it had been at least half a year. "Well I just haven't got around to it," I said truth is that I had meant to do it tomorrow.

"Well, when do you think you'll ask," she said frustrated.

"Soon," I replied guiltily

"That's what you always say," she said angrily and rolled over.

I left her a note on the nightstand. I walked up to the peak, where I could view the coming dawn. When the sun started to rise Lisa walked up. She didn't look at me just stared out the window .I know how much she loved the sunrise, I reached into my pocket and pulled out a small box. She didn't notice that I had even moved, till I was down on one knee.

"I Know you are mad at me, but I think this will make up for it," I said to her and opened up the box...
