I looked at my steward and said, "that is it, we'll have the two houses marry each other. It will solve everything. The, marriage will force the two houses into a union." I couldn't hold back my smile, I had found a way to fix the problem.
Their I noticed, my steward was uncomfortable. Then he said, "please forgive me lord, but the two houses can't marry. They are two different species. The king's law forbids inter-species marriage, even more our religion forbids this kind of marriage." Thought he was right, this would be a controversial weeding.
I quickly answered, "I understand that this is not a happy solution, but the answer is I have no better option. That king's law applies only to duchies; thus, it does not apply in this case. While yes us our synod forbids this marriage. I don't believe that the carnivores synod as such a restriction. Now find me a carnivore minister, we have a weeding to plan. Also get a meal ready, I want to tell them the great news."
In the dinner hall
When I walked into the dining hall, Baron Kolvak and Baron Burckno were already there. The table design place me at the head, while the two Barons were on opposite sides of the table, there has I walked to my seat, one of my servants said, "All rise, our defender and prince of Wels, Prince Fyrster." I took my seat at the head of the table, when both Baron Kolvak and Baron Burckno sat down.
While Baron Kolvak turned his head to look at me, he said, "my lord, if you can find it, in your heart to forgive our trespasses. I will not fight, upon my honor as your loyal servant." It was obvious that he was worried, for good reason since. For this crime, I would be in the right to retract their titles, or even worse execute them for treason.
I chuckled a bit as I thought of what I would say. I then answered, "don't worry, I have no intention of punishing the two of you. In fact, I will go a step farther and will pay for the wedding. For your eldest son Burckno, and your only daughter Kovak." I smiled and took a sip of wine.
Baron Burckno who looked confused, asked "my prince, I am honored with offering to pay for these weddings. But I have yet to find a wife for my eldest son. Are you suggesting, that you have a bride for my son already?"
I raised my hoof, signaling for them to be quit. I took another sip and responded, "I said wedding, not weddings, but to answer your question I have found a bride for your son. Burckno your son, will marry Margret Kolvak, your daughter Baron Kolvak, If I did not intervene you would have wiped each other out. So simply to prevent you two from killing each other off, I will make it harder to kill each other off, by uniting your two houses."
While they were in shock, I continued before they could protest. I said, "you may leave. Return to your castles. In one month, you will be back here, with your eldest. To combine your two houses with this holy union. Also remember try not to do anything stupid."
