This story is told by Sabi, a 17 year old male Lion Anthro who has just turned of age and been given his fathers blessing, now he's out to start a pride of his own.

There had never been prouder moment in my life.On my shoulder lay my fathers massive hand as he smiled down at me, as if passing down all the majesty that he possesed on to me, it was the end of my cerimony, but the beginning of my life. After this, everything was up to me.....

With a content sigh I flopped to the ground outside my den, inhling deeply as I sought to catch my breath.I had just gone over the entire boundaries of my Kingdom, scent marking them to warn intruders off.I couldn't help but be proud, after all, my brother Lush was almost two full years older than I, and before him, and any of my littermates, Father had granted me leave of the Pride.Don't get me wrong, Lush had been right pissed when father had called my name instead of his at the cerimony, but some things were just meant to be.Besides, I really couldn't see Lush taking over a Pride. He was bad enough back home, bossing everyone about, taking all the glory, and not to mention getting me into trouble.Things would have gone to hell if he'd been King instead of Father, and I felt sorry for anyone he claimed in the future. On that thought, a frown claimed my lips.I was all alone, not a soul to talk to, and for those of you familiar with lions, you'd know that such a thing wasn't acceptable, not int he least. It was then my trademark, lopided smirk took hold, and with a mischevous eye I glanced around the territory. From the den ledge, which was set in a large, firm pile of boulders, I could see over the vast flatland that stretched out before me, the domain I called mine.It wasn't much, consisting of mostly flat, grazing land, a small watering hole, and a few trees and shrubs.Other than that, nothing, but I had a good idea of where to start looking for this much needed company.

Dropping to all four, I gave a half hearted shake of my well muscled body, dislodging whatever loose dirt particles had once been there. After all, I wanted to look my best in case I just so happened to run into someone. With a dismissive flick of my tail, I hastily set out in search of the Community Springs.
