#2 of Carrying a dream.

The second chapter, I apologise it has taken so long.

Hours had past before Daylight opened her eyes again, she noticed the room was darker than she recalled. After she looked around the dimly lit room, she noted that the flower patterned curtains were drawn. The thin fabric barely kept the light out of the room, but Daylight was thankful that the room was dim. A sudden noise to her right made her jump several feet into the air. Once she had made contact with the ground after her panic induced jump, she looked in the general direction of the noise. Thankfully it was only Nightshade, who was sleeping to her right, curled up in a ball of black fur with her yellow rings glowing faintly. Daylight's stomach decided it wanted food, and so it rumbled.

"Did you have to rumble like that?" She asked no one in particular. Nightshade stirred slightly with the comment, and seemingly emitted a low growl for the fun of it. Nightshade then opened her left eye and in her own way, smiled.

"You fell asleep the moment you rested your head, were you that tired?" Nightshade asked without moving an inch from her ball like shape.

"Is that so?" Daylight said back, she smirked as best as she could while looking at Nightshade from the corner of her eye. The Umbreon still had not moved, instead she gave a small 'hmm' as her reply.

"If you are hungry, there is food in the fridge. Just a word of advice, the old lady that lives here will often ask you to replace what you eat. She will give you the money needed to buy the item, I ask you to please replace what you eat." Nightshade said before cocking her ears towards the door to their right. Daylight did the same; small creaking of wood echoed through the silent house. "You may want to find a book and a pencil. I would not recommend using your mind talk."

"She sounds nice." Daylight said, she had said it with no hesitation. At first, Nightshade thought that her Espeon friend had ignored the last part. "So where would I find a book and a pencil?" Nightshade uncurled herself and looked squarely at Daylight. Somewhat impressed.

"Well..." Nightshade purposefully drawing out the well. "Since we are in the living room. You will more than likely find them in a drawer, in that chest of drawers." She briefly lifted her left in the general direction with the mentioned object. Daylight followed Nightshade's paw with the brief time that she had; before walking over to the chest of drawers. It had three sets of draws, the very top draw being formed of two smaller draws. She had the gut feeling that the objects of question would be at the very top. If Nightshade's information regarding her owner was correct, it would make sense that the old lady would have the objects within easier reach for her.

Daylight manipulated a pulling motion on the knob of what she thought was the correct draw. It slid open like a well lubricated piston in a car, she stopped the moment she sensed it was open enough. Without much effort she carefully lifted all the contents out of draw. Nightshade watched in mixed amassment and expectation, but the silence was eating at her. She then recalled the pendant Daylight had around her neck. She was amazed at how such a small thing could keep a big memory within itself.

"So your trainer..." Nightshade trailed as she thought of something to say, just in case she upset her guest. "His rather cute for a human." Unknowingly causing Daylight to flush, but her control over the floating objects never faltered.

"Cute he was, smart one too. His only drawback, he is dead." Daylight said, her voice wavered slightly but held composure while she neatly put all the items back in, except for the book and pencil, she was going to need those. "You have a question you wish to ask, don't you?"

Nightshade suddenly recoiled like she had been punched on her nose. How this Espeon could sense that she did not know, but was definitely in need of saving. So instead of delaying her new found friend any longer, she answered with. "Your human, what was he like?"

"In quick few words, He is everything that I ever wanted." Daylight said knowingly knowing that those words were not enough for the Umbreon. She playfully chuckled as she slid the drawer back into its slot. She turned to face Nightshade and upon noticing her pleading face, she grinned. The Umbreon was getting desperate.

"You are such a tease." Nightshade said, she was on the point of giving up before she had a evil idea. This idea, she was hoping it would flip the tables in her favour. Laughter was beginning to grow inside her, as she watched Daylight looked onward as if nothing was happening.

It took Nightshade a moment to calm down her nerves, but when she did. Her plan started to hatch. She started with. "So your master... Was he also the type of human that saw you as his lover?" before she got out from her bed, placing herself in-between Daylight and the object she had climbed from.

Daylight, who had managed to find some crackers and then applied what looked like chocolate spread, choked on a small chunk of her makeshift breakfast cracker. Once the danger of choking was removed, she threw Nightshade a look of complete bewilderment. Apparently she had became unaware of the comment thrown her way.

"Bet you made the same choke when you couldn't take his full len..." Nightshade was interrupted by a cracker being forced into her mouth. It surprised her, but the taste overflowed within her mouth. Her sense of taste went into overdrive as the cracker melted in her mouth. She looked at her newfound friend. The glare the Espeon gave her could melt through glass.

"Another reference like that; I'll give you more than a cracker." Daylight said darkly. She noticed that Nightshade was not fazed by her comment. Righty so too, the Umbreon is a dark type. Daylight sighed, she had a feeling that this was going to be her new routine. Soon enough she noticed that Nightshade was birthing a dark look.

"Is that a threat? Or is that a promise?" Nightshade said playfully, her tone attempting to mock anger. She was like a dog waiting for its owner to throw the ball, her front half was close to the ground whilst her lower half remained in the air. Occasionally her tail would wag playfully. Daylight looked at her newfound friend and playmate, she smiled inwardly before throwing herself at Nightshade.

A good thirty minutes passed without them realising. Daylight was on her back, front paws placed firmly on her opposer's chest, her hind legs uselessly brushing pass Nightshade's midsection, as she stared into the crimson red slit eyes of the Umbreon. She could have sworn she noticed a victorious smile on the Umbreon's features.

"Boop." Daylight said through the still maintained mental link as her left paw booped Nightshade's nose. She laughed at her own immature moment, causing Nightshade to cock her head.

"You are a strange one." Nightshade said. "I suppose that is what happens when one is raised by a child."

"I was not raised by a child!" Daylight snapped, the mental link wavered briefly as if a earthquake struck a city. "In fact, I was raised by a couple who had a son, unfortunately the couple passed away. I knew something was wrong with them, I chose not to question. However I found the note on the day of their passing. The wellbeing of their child was down to me. I honestly did not know what to do, but I could not show weakness in front of the child."

"You have more devotion than me." Nightshade stated. Daylight felt her body gain weight, before slowly slumping to the floor. She was looking at Nightshade with a stare as blank as a white canvas. It was more or less mental exhaustion. "I would have rather taken the child to its relatives. To be honest that would have been the correct thing to do. By the way if this mental link is getting difficult to maintain, you can cease it."

"No." Daylight said sternly but sounding shaky at best. "The child was safer with me, the rest of the family did not share the same joy as his parents did. I was their only option."

"Fine, I will not press the matter further, but one thing is bugging me. If you did at one part belong to a trainer, what did your ball look like?" Questioned Nightshade whilst looking down on her 'prey'. Daylight's chest raised with a slow intake of air, clearly this was a touchy topic. Even her eyes pleaded for her not to go there.

Seeing how the Umbreon was not going to let her off the hook; Daylight breathed another sigh. "Truth be told, I have not been inside my ball for years. My master saw no need to keep me in the ball. Confused as I was at the time, I soon learned he would rather me be out and ready instead of in that sphere." She said, her gaze moved to the fur on Nightshade's chest.

"No, instead of a ball you opt to have that pendent around your neck. Within that pendent is that human, the boy looks so happy to be with you." Nightshade said. Her gaze quickly followed to match Daylight's, her attention turned back to the Espeon's eyes. Tears streamed down her features, the tuffs of fur near her eyes gradually dampened. She even felt their mental link begin to crack, Daylight's memories flooded her mind one by one. She felt the dainty paws of the Espeon below her; wrap her paws around her black pelt.

Nightshade could feel herself being pulled lower. For once she feared that she may have said something she wished she had not; she felt that this is what the humans call 'karma' and it was teaching her caution. Just to add the icing to the cake, the link between her and Daylight shattered as if it was made of glass. Nightshade felt like she had just taken an adrenaline shot, before taking a strong dose of sleeping agent.

A feeling of velvety fur brushing against her, caused her to inwardly jump but soon found the touch welcoming. Nightshade began to feel lightheaded, thankfully the severed mental connection was slowly passing throw her system. It was not helping that her mind had just realised she was her back. The very position that Daylight was once at. Instead she was sobbing into Nightshade's chest. Despite being uncomfortable, Nightshade wrapped her front paws around Daylight's midsection and began to stroke her. It felt alien to comfort her guest in this manner.

To her surprise, the sobbing was dying down but had yet to stop. Her chest was heavy with the tears of her guest. If the mistress caught her like this, things were going to be difficult to explain. That however was a problem for another time. Thankfully the mental link returned between her and Daylight. It was soothing in comparison to the collapse. The thought of apologising dug at her with everything it had.

"No need to apologise, it is my fault for being too sensitive..." Daylight was interrupted by Nightshade's paw making contact with her mouth.

"It was my fault for asking you a question regarding a topic you have yet to recover from." She said before Daylight could question her. Daylight's pendent caught her attention as it got sandwiched between their chests. "Could you possibly get off of me now?"

"Why would I do that? You are nice and warm." Daylight said back. Nightshade closed her crimson eyes and sighed. "Are you afraid of your mistress? Don't worry, I haven't sensed her as of yet."

"Look at you two, looking so snug together." Said a voice. Both Daylight and Nightshade looked towards the doorway. A woman in her mid forties stood in between the doorframe, her brown hair had hints of grey streaks, but she adjourned a smile. Nightshade had visibly slumped. As if trying to merge with the floor. "I had no idea you were into other females, can't say that I blame you."

Daylight looked away from mistress just in time to see Nightshade's cheeks glowing a faint red. She smiled at the thought of an older Pokémon being embarrassed, but chose to lower her head onto Nightshade's chest. Questions flooded the mental link as she lay her head down.

"Daylight. Take it easy on her, she just a tad bit older than I. However she still shows her youth, unlike myself." Said the Mistress. Daylight visibly looked shocked, this human knew her name yet she knew that she had never met her. "Continue to rest my dear, only time can heal your wounds, and in time I will tell you know I know your name." She noticed the Mistress wink before walking off. She could feel great happiness in the aura as the mistress went.
