A true story about a little bay mare who changed my life forever

This is a true story of a horse I bought a few years ago and the brief relationship we had before I had to sell her. Names were changed but the details are all true...

I had spent some time around horse auctions and knew what to look for in a potential buy. I had just been through a divorce and having moved to a small apartment in town and being between jobs, a friend of mine, Jan, asked me to help her with her small ranch to allow me time away from the big city. I quickly accepted and found myself working as a ranch hand during most of the week. She had a 40-acre spread with six Quarter Horse geldings and a little burro with a couch that made for a perfect bed. The peace and quiet was a comforting elixir for the marital chaos that I was going through.

One morning she informed me of a livestock auction in a local town and wanted to get her daughter a horse for a 4-H project and asked me to hitch up her trailer, so I promptly finished breakfast and connected her trailer to my Dodge 4-door pickup - a process I referred to as "hitchin' up the mare". We left around 11:00 that morning toward a venture that would change my life.

We arrived at the auction with plenty of time to view the horses for sale behind the auction ring. It was a small sale - perhaps 120 horses ranging from yearlings to stallions to donkeys - so it didn't take long to preview the inventory. We were making our way down the middle aisle when she saw a registered Paint gelding that she thought would be perfect for her daughter. She found the seller and engaged in conversation about his training and bloodline while I tried making friends with the other horses that might be next to the aisle fence. I walked a few pens down and saw her. It was as if she was trying to greet everyone walking by and saying "buy me!". I walked up to this young bay mare and her ears pricked forward as she began to smell me. Her stall tag indicated that she was just three years of age and AQHA-registered (American Quarter Horse). She had a beautiful conformation so I let myself inside her pen. "She'd make a great trail horse" I thought to myself.

Owning a show horse meant owning a creature that would allow you to keep her completely groomed (muzzle to tail), let you pick up her hooves for cleaning/trimming and have a mellow temperament when it came to medical care and training. I had always exercised what I considered to be the ultimate test of temperament. With males it involved the tactile exercises of cleaning their penis and scrotal area with no hostile behavior. Mares are a bit different. I walked up to her and let her smell me again, then stroked her neck, shoulders, back, belly and front legs - no objections. I rubbed her croup and hind legs, slowly working my way up between her hind legs, all the while keeping a watchful eye on her head and ears, but so far, no complaints. I soon made it up to her teats, then her vagina which, I found with surprise, to be very moist. As the barn was full of "good ol' boys", I had to be discreet and quick so I made a swipe with my fingers of her vagina and saw her lower her head as if in pleasure. I patted her on the neck and exited her pen while wiping her juices off on my jeans and smelling her scent on my fingers. She was definitely a keeper.

I met up with Jan in the bidding room when tack sales - saddles, bridles and such - were just ending. She said she was going to bid on the Paint gelding - a good choice, I thought. The auction progressed by tag number and the Paint was one of the first in line. She had to bid slightly higher than she wanted, but won the bid and acquired a new horse for her daughter. As I didn't have much money at the time, I didn't stick around and went outside for a smoke and prepared to drive around to the loading chutes and get her new gelding. As I rounded the corner of the auction barn, I spotted the loading area and backed the trailer slowly up to the chute - much like a space shuttle astronaut. I got out and met with one of the auction hands on loading Jan's new gelding. "We'll put him on the right. It doesn't matter.", I said to him. "I just need to know how you want THEM loaded", he responded. "Them?", I said with a look of confusion. About that time another worker brought out Jan's horse and tried to load him, but the horse refused. I tried assisting but the gelding objected with every attempted tactic. Then I heard a voice behind me saying "Here's the mare". I turned around and to my surprise, there was the little bay mare that I visited before the auction. Jan stood in the aisle with a grin and said "I watched you with her and knew you two were compatible! I got her for a song and couldn't resist". She loaded beautifully without trouble then to my surprise, the gelding followed behind and suddenly we had two horses loaded and were set to go! I quickly put on my shaded glasses to hide the tears of joy in my eyes.

We got to Jan's place and put her gelding in a side paddock, then planned to put my new mare in the front pasture away from her other geldings. Not only did she load beautifully, but unloaded like a dream! I checked her hay and water and before turning her out, tied her to the trailer and gave her a quick grooming. She quickly took to her water (as it was a hot day) then let me brush her down. Again she had no objections being touched ANYWHERE on her body. I once more made my way from front to back, finally reaching her hindquarters. I slowly slipped my hand between her legs and felt her moist lips as she raised her tail for me, almost as if she was in estrous. Her ears never went back but instead went to the side and her head lowered in a state of relaxation. "You'll be an easy one to work with" I thought to myself. I untied her, removed her halter and let her go explore her new home.

I spent the rest of the afternoon cutting down a dead tree on the north side of my mare's pasture. Based on her full name, I started calling her Chelsea. She spent the entire afternoon watching me cut down and cut up the tree and load the wood into my truck. It was nice having such "attractive" company. After I was done for the day, I decided to drive to the local feed store to get her some apple wafers - a treat that most horses can't resist. I made it just before they closed, stopped off to pick up some dinner for me and Jan and headed back to the ranch. Dinner was delicious as I had not eaten since that morning.

Jan and I watched the evening news and a movie about something I cannot remember (a real SNOOZER!), then she turned in for the night while I stayed up and watched more mindless television. I had been an insomniac night owl for months and never fell asleep until well after midnight. A commercial break finally came up so I stepped outside for some night air and have a smoke. The moon stood full and contrasted a peacefully black night sky as I stepped outside in just shorts and my sandals. A slight breeze whispered its way through the trees and I could hear our neighboring barn owls hooting in rhythm in the adjacent pasture. This was my favorite time of day (or night I should say!). I made my way down the porch and to the driveway where I noticed Chelsea grazing next to the fence. I walked over and began talking to her.

Her coat glistened in the moonlight as she slowly worked her way up the fence line, then stopped to visit with me. I kept some wafers in a small bag and gave her a couple to compliment her grassy dinner. She nickered quietly and graciously accepted them. I squeezed my way between the fence wiring and began running my fingers through her mane as I took in the beautiful night air and view of the full moon. I then leaned on her back as she grazed and took in the arousing scent of her sweat while feeling her muscular body. Sure, I was aroused, but I had to keep our relationship on a logical level if I was going to break her for trail and western show. She started moving forward so I kept up with her, for there's just so much grass one can eat in one spot, right? Then she began her motions without pausing and I wondered "there's plenty to eat here, darlin'!" and hoped she wasn't losing interest in me, then when I backed away from her, I suddenly found a tail in my face with her gorgeous hindquarters just underneath.

As I approached her, she raised her tail and backed toward me. The full moon shone upon her flowering vulva and I could see it winking with anticipation, verifying my suspicion of her being in estrous. My "ethological logic" was suddenly modified as I leaned forward to inhale her scent but this time experiencing one stronger than before - one of animal lust. As rational and educated as I considered myself to be, I could not resist such a temptation to let go of the trainer in me and try a role of "lover". I ran my hands along her flanks and caressed her between her legs and again experienced no aggression. "This can't be happening!" I thought to myself. Finally I placed my face between her muscular legs and ran my tongue along her twitching lips. I acquired a mouthful of her juices with one pass as she was apparently very aroused as I was. Her taste was incredible and I promptly plunged my tongue deeper into her soaked marehood taking in everything she was offering.

I began running my hands between her legs and feeling the muscling of a registered Quarter Horse, each second pushing my tongue and face deeper into her pulsing vagina and becoming drunk on this intoxicating scent of a mare. My fingers found their way to her teats and again, while I softly caressed them, she showed no objection though this was not a sensation that usually stimulated a mare, but was part of nursing a foal. I was becoming obsessed with her body versus her conformation that I was so critical of earlier that afternoon. I could feel her vulva wink around my tongue as she presented more of her reproductive fluids to my watering mouth. I was at a state of ultimate eroticism. Fortunately we were in the rural part of the state and rarely did I see a passing vehicle. We were totally alone.

I clutched a handful of her mane and surprisingly was able to lead her to the barn just 300 feet away without a halter. She knew what I wanted and was more than willing to accommodate me. I took her inside and cross-tied her, then caressed her muzzle and softly spoke to her while rubbing her neck. I worked my way along her erotically-scented body toward her hindquarters and was promptly greeted by a raised tail revealing her feminine splendor. I once again ran my fingers between her legs and felt her warmth and wetness heavier now than ever before. Mares don't behave this erotically, but she was young and had never been bred. I slipped one, two then three fingers inside her making her tail twitch upward again. I removed my hand and ravenously licked my fingers clean. I'm standing before a hormonally-stimulated equine who was calm yet extremely aroused and could not believe what I was experiencing. With nobody around and Jan asleep in the house, I removed my shorts and let her smell my masculinity, from which she nickered and raised her head with flehmen, raising her upper lip in response to my own scent. I suddenly felt like a breeding stallion.

With the taste of her sweet vaginal fluids still on my taste buds, I dragged a square hay bale behind her then again buried my tongue deep between her lips. She nickered and gave a deep breath then to my surprise, spread her legs just a little and repositioned herself as if inviting me to mount her. I carefully stood upon the bale and moved her tail aside, then began caressing her feminine opening with the tip of my cock. She started to step back but halted. I began talking softly to her and continued to caress her vagina, then slowly entered her, first one inch, then two and within 15 seconds, I found myself fully engulfed in female equine flesh. I felt so small within her large and ample reproductive entrance, but began to slide in and out feeling her soft wetness beginning to tighten around me. She moved her ears back for just a second as she had never been penetrated before, but relaxed again. I could feel her tighten her vaginal muscles around me as I began pumping her and feeling more and more like a stallion with each gentle thrust.

I knew my sexual stamina would not last long - especially with a creature this large and beautiful. I wanted so much to breed her and get her pregnant and though human and horse sperm are so similar, I knew it couldn't happen, but that thought left my mind as I quickly felt the spasm in-between my legs lead to an orgasm I would never forget. I thrust hard into her eager body and began offering what seemed to be endless waves of my seed to her opening, my mind rushing almost to the point of passing out. Sex with a woman was hardly comparable to this! Fortunately she had never experienced a stallion before, so being mounted by a human was an arousing experience for her as she continued to spasm around my ejaculation. Finally my sexual contribution faded and I slowly backed out of her, my semen slightly emerging from her still wet lips.

I cleaned up and put my shorts back on, then stroked her soft bay-colored coat as I moved back toward her head, then kissed her gently on her muzzle. I looked her in the eye and gently told her how she changed my life forever with a night of equiphilic romance. I untied her and led her back out to the pasture. Fortunately Jan never learned of our encounter and I never made love with Chelsea again, but we had occasional moments of oral sex when nobody was around. Eventually we turned her out with Jan's other geldings and within a couple of months, she "took with the herd" and lost her interest in me. I moved soon after and unfortunately had to sell her and dearly miss her ever since, but will always recall our sexual rendezvous and will always be aroused by the scent of a mare.
