Avalon is the new student at the Education Hall of Barkersfield. Along with new faces and trying to get into the swing of things she meets a lovely fox who befriends her in an instant.

She loved her. From the first sight, to the first set of words that were directed to her. She loved everything about her. From her black dipped ears to her shoes. Avalon became overwhelmed with emotions. These emotions in which she had never felt before. She tried to play it cool. But there was something about this fascinating, diamond white, fox that made Avalon act like...Avalon. The real wolf that hid within.

This scared her. For so long she hid. She wore a mask with a smile, dressed in bright colors to hide the dark ones within her fur and on her skin and around her eyes, and acted like the bright colored kids she so desperately wished she was.

Before entering the Education Hall of Barkersfield this morning, Avalon made it a point to not get caught up in anything like that after what happened two years before. Love was in the air, but for Avalon only one person of the pair was breathing it in. Just the thought of that sour tiger made her sick. She swore she still had his taste in her mouth.

Unfortunately, that all came to a crumpled within moments of entering the main office. The student body welcoming committee was there, bright eyed and bushy tail. Lux, a black pig threw her backpack at Avalon to carry, after the three of them left the office. Nollen, a spoiled milk-white cow, heavily laughed at the situation and soon followed Lux, and tossed his school bag on top of Avalon's head. She soon dropped the bags and kept walking to homeroom. Throughout the day they kept introducing her to random students that could give two shits about the new wolf. This made her uneasy about everybody. It made her seem as though it wasn't safe to be herself.

But this diamond white fox made it seem okay for Avalon. Before they could exchange their hello's, Avalon had a sense of safety. Something she hadn't felt since she was a tiny pup.

"Hello, I'm Avalon but my friends call me Av for short." She spoke so softly that the fox had to tilt her head so she could make an attempt to listen more clearly.

"Av? That's a nice name. I'm Greta." Greta, the fox, held out a paw for the tan wolf to shake. Avalon gave her a curious smile...no not just curious. It had something to it. If it was a book, you could read the words submission, gentle, scared, and confident within that small smile.

"Do you need help finding anything? You seem pretty new here." Greta said looked the wolf, head to tail.

"Uhh yeah...I mean no. I-uh mean, I'm fine." Avalon stumbled on her words. The poor wolf was nervous, scared, and overwhelmed.

"Oh, is that so?" The fox asked. The wolf nodded and continued on her way. Her two friends giggled amongst themselves as they let the new wolf take a few steps alone. Greta looked at them with a warning but they didn't stop.

"I think I know how to get to the student supply store." The wolf replied without turning her head.

"That's great and all but the store is closed around this time for an hour and a half while staff and students get lunch." The fox said kindly," Then they open for half an hour before bell."

Avalon turned around with fear and embarrassment written all over her.

Poor thing. Greta thought, but her face spoke.

"You're kidding?" Avalon questioned. Greta shook her head and the wolf did the walk of shame back the fox and their two friends.

"Com on. I'll give you a tour and then we can eat." Greta comfort her and then dismissed the pig and bear. They wanted to get lunch and weren't all that interested in helping the lost wolf.

"Some friends." Greta judged the two after they were almost to the dining hall.

"They aren't friends. More like the unwelcoming welcome committee, if you ask me." Avalon muttered, making the fox laugh.

"They'll come around."The fox stated.

"Are they your friends?"

"Hell no! But we've known each other since Jr. High."

The dead fall leaves crunched under their paws as Greta showed Avalon how to get from one class to the next fast by marking a path on her map. Then the fox showed the wolf around the main campus.

"So, why do you have so many random classes" Greta asked while the two made their way to the dining hall.

"I'm just interested in many random things. Is that crime?" Avalon barked at her. Greta jumped back a little at how Avalon reacted to her comment.

"Hey! Come on now." Greta kept her tone soft, an attempt to ease and reassure the wolf. "I was just curious."

"Sorry. I'm taking all these classes because I'm not sure what I want to do yet." Avalon said, softer now.

They got to dining hall just as staff was putting away food and cleaning empty tables and trays. The hall had tables all over it with vending machines along the walls to accommodate for all animals.Tables were covered in litter and half eaten food. But the smell of it all was heaven. Avalon took in a long deep breath so she could get every last bit of it to flow into her nostrils and fill them with the scent of fresh cooked meals. They were both starving, but luckily the fox knew exactly what to do. The fox sighed and turned to a vending machine.

"Want anything? On me." She offered. The wolf nodded, sheepishly."Alright! Now believe it or not, but they barbecued rabbit sandwich is really good. It usually takes two of them to equal the cafeteria's take on it, that's usually at the end of the month by the way," Greta put in the money and pressed the code for the sandwich and watched it fall, retrieved it, then turned back to Avalon and gave it to her.

"But it doesn't compare to these." Greta ordered another sandwich and walked to the other side of the room while the wolf followed and held on to every word.

"Okay!" The fox said looking at the chips and drinks," So, now I'm letting you in on my little secret menu, please pay attention. The sandwich with pheasant chips, if I'm feeling a little down I like to add cheese pine cone chips to them." Greta put the coins in and ordered both of the chips.

"Sandwich and chips, right?" She asked the wolf and Avalon nodded," Only one drink goes with this, GCW Fizz. It's grape, corn, and wheat as a fizz drink." When she was finished explaining the drink, two cans were already down in the pick-up try.

"And here we have it! Lunch from the heavens!" The fox looked over to Avalon and they both smiled at each other.

Greta gave Avalon one of the two cans and then put her own food in her bag.

"But we only have two sandwiches between both of us. I was never good at math, but I know for a fact that this doesn't add up right." The wolf pointed out with a smile to the side.

"I only had enough for two, so we are sharing. Don't worry about it though. Now," The fox went to the hall's door and opened it for Avalon," Onward and upwards. We need to go to the library to eat up the sandwiches and mix the chips. My cousin works there so we can use his office to dine in. Your next class doesn't start for another hour and I have study hall."

Avalon had to give it to the clever fox. She had way of doing something for everything.
