Transformations (pending) and Mind changes abound in The Prison, an erotic, interactive CYOA/Text Adventure game that runs on Java!

You are captured and trapped inside an enigmatic prison, filled with very peculiar people whose plans are equally as bizarre. Can you find a way to escape before you fall victim to whatever awaits you in The Prison? (Or will you purposely get yourself gang-banged because you can?)

What is The Prison?

The Prison is an interactive CYOA/Text Adventure game (similar to toucanplay's game). It is a test of my TA engine and my own interactive story writing, which is a first for me. Since this is a runnable Jar (Java program) you cannot play it in browser, you must download it. As this is the first time I've done this, the game is not a perfectly polished piece and probably has bugs or continuity errors, which I'm hoping you'll help me find! Suggestions, ideas and critique are always welcome!

Version 1: Bad Horsie Features:

  • One encounter with, like, 6 different possible 'fun' interaction paths.
  • That's it. Yes, there'll be more for sure. No, I'm still writing them. Yes there will be transformations. What do you mean you expected them now? No I am not talking to myself!

Important Note : 'The Prison' will NEVER ask for permission to establish network connections, or to change files on your computer. As a result of the latter, there is no saving.

Not as important note: Please let me know if your CPU maxes out or your battery drains really fast. I hotfixed this so it shouldn't be an issue any longer.

FAQ:

Q : What does this run on? A : This runs on and requires the latest version of Java. Go to java.com/verify (not on Chrome or Edge) to check if you have it.

Q : Windows or Mac? A : It runs on both. Linux, I have not tried.

Q : On Mac, I can't open it? (Unknown developer) A : Right click and choose open, the prompt will now have an option to open it (even though it's downloaded from the internet).

Q : I can't run it, my computer just unpackages it like a zip? A : Try the following. If problems persist, feel free to PM me or post a comment below. 1. Ensure that you have the latest Java installed. 2. Move the program onto your Desktop. 3. Going to either Command Prompt on Windows or Terminal on Mac, type "cd Desktop" exactly, without quotes. (This moves the CP/Term to look at your Desktop.) 4. Enter the command "java -jar ThePrison.jar" exactly, without quotes. (This tells Java that you want it to run a jar, and then you give it the name of the jar to run.)

Q : I opened it but nothing happened? A : Give it some time to load. It does take quite some to start up, but I'll fix that, eventually. Otherwise, ensure you have the latest Java.

Q : I encountered an error/typo/bug! A : PM me the details or comment below so I can get that patched right up!

Q : The program opened but there are no buttons (or no text box)? A : This happens from time to time and I have no clue why. Just some oddity I can't control. Try pressing enter or just close and reopen the program.

Q : The GUI is really small/large. A : I have not yet added scaling because GUI isn't my main priority at the moment. And yes, you can resize the window but the GUI won't scale with it.

Q : This GUI is really ugly... A : Yah I know :( Refer to above.

Q : My antivirus blocked it... <_< A : On the devices I've tried, this has never happened. In fact I only included this in case it actually happens. If it does - er - trust your instincts, practise good internet safety!

Q : Can you make it work on browser/no download? A : Unfortunately not. To make it work on browser I'd have to either use Flash which is super antiquated and is being deprecated, or try to redo this in HTML5 or JavaScript which I have no experience in, and am not sure will port well. I'd also need to purchase a website to host it on but I haz no moniez. However, if there is sufficient interest, I may consider porting it.

Q : I like this! Can I make my own CYOA/TA using your engine? A : Absolutely! You are completely welcome to PM me about using the engine to create your own custom game. I'll help you get started and provide support throughout.

Q : Question isn't on here? A : PM me your question or post it in the comments!
