Bleeding Fire
"Great job Bloodyeye lets take this route it looks dark and dangerous enough." I had to yell at myself for taking the wrong path through the woods. The same woods i had walked through many times without getting lost until now. The path i had unfortunatly chosen was dark enough to make the afternoon light more like midnight.
I had to have been walking for at least two hours now. the forest seemed to grow darker as i walked through it. The luscious green plants had changed to cold dead ones it was acctually starting to get colder. The uncomfortable feeling of someone watching me swept over my body sending a shiver up my back. I quickened my pace hoping to lose whoever might have been following me but to no avail the feeling stayed with me the entire time.
"Ok Jake, just calm down its probably only a bird." A quick glance behind me showed how wrong i was. hungry yellow eyes, much like my own without the hunger, were now slowly advancing since i had stopped. i quickly turned and bolted off down the trail faster than i had ever run before. a small yet sharp knife gave me some reasurrance that i would get away.
i turned again to see that the yellow eyes had dissapeared. a smirk covered my face as i started to slow down. "Just goes to show you, dont mess with the bloody eyed wolf." i yelled out to no one about my nickname i had made myself because of a small ring of red fur that grew around my eye area.
A particularly heavy object crashed through the branches as i finished taunting the forest around me. I had only a few seconds to jump to the side and avoid crushing most of my body. my legs were caught under the heavy log the pain was to much i blacked out almost instantly.
My legs had no feeling to them when i woke up a few hours later i could tell by the postion of the moon. a fire had been made and my wrists were tied my knife was missing. I wiggled around a little trying to get free it didnt work so well since i couldnt move the lower half of my body. "What happened, where am i, What. . ." my voice was cut off by the placement of a rather soft hand against my muzzle.
"You are to injured to be talking one who calls himself the Bloody eyed wolf." a female voice answered. i turned my head upward to meet the face of a very beautiful vixen. I didnt try to fight her for one i was still unable to move my lower body and the other the vixen was now sitting on me. i didnt know what to do now it was up to her wether i got to go or i died or whatever she had planned. She seemed to be thinking a lot and a very sharp looking spear was lying behind me so i decided to keep my mouth shut for the time being.
"Hey, what are you doing with my knife?" i asked as i saw the small hunting knife come out of her belt. She held the blade to my face slowly pressing it closer untill it touched the very tip of my red fur.
"I told you to be quiet, there is nothing you should be worried about." she pressed the blade against my flesh drawing a red line across my muzzle. I managed to stiffle a yelp that had started to rise up my throat. Satisfied she layed the knife next to her weapon also rising off of me.
"What is it you want from me?" i had to ask i couldnt keep quiet for so long without knowing. She only smirked and pulled my up over the fire my face facing the flames. "Dont do anything to rash now." my mind had begun to conjour up the idea that she was going to drop me into the fire causing me to whine a bit.
She laughed a bit. "I dont plan on killing you yet, if at all." She had been watching a small amount of blood run from my muzzle to the tip of my nose. the tickling feeling causing me to shake my head a bit. the blood dripped of into the fire causing the flames to turn a blood red color.
"What just happened?" i was worried now i didnt know what was going on only that the vixen almost dropped me. instead she threw me backwards back onto the ground. I couldnt help but growl at her for it. she walked off behind me and grabbed my knife and her spear.
"I should just leave you here for whatever would like to dine on you." She laughed at my crippled form "because you will only slow me down, but that is not my way, i will stay here untill you are healed."
"Oh i feel much better now." i said quietly but not enough for her ears. i shriveled up as she came closer to me kneeling at my side.
"You act like that and i WILL leave you here." she threatened pressing her spear point to my throat.
"Alright alright, sheesh i wasnt serious about that." I had to say something to break the silence and anyway she really looked like she would kill me without hesitation. She lowered the weapon and tossed my knife to me after cutting the bonds on my wrists.
"i figure you wont be going anywhere anyway with your legs in that condition." She shrugged. i layed back knowing i wasnt going anywhere.
"So, Whats your name?" i asked her trying to get rid of her tension. i dont think it worked because she frowned back at me. "i dont want to have to keep calling you miss or lady or whatever." i explained
"What could it hurt, call me Kira." She shrugged again sitting on the ground next to me. "Should i just keep calling you the bloody eyed wolf then?" Why she insisted on mocking my nickname i will never know but it was getting annoying.
"No, my real name is Jake, thats only my nickname." I knew it sounded rude but i never did like it when others made fun of my nickname. i turned my head to the side because there wasnt much else i could do i didnt want to hit her but i did feel like it.
"Jake huh, i like it." She giggled making me turn my head again in Kira's direction. her comment caused me to blush which was not to obvious under my fur but im guessing she could tell because she covered her muzzle to hide more laughter.
"Anyway, Kira, What is it you want from me?" She didnt answer my question from before so i decided to ask again this time a little nicer.
"I want to find out what it is that caused your blood to turn the fire the color it had been, only you and two others i recall have done that." She turned her eyes to the fire as she spoke. Two seconds later before i knew what was happening she had started to drag me off again at a very quick rate even though i can say it wasnt easy.
Only then did i notice the same yellow eyes that i had seen in the forest staring at us hungrily as before. it wasnt about to give my helpless form up this easily as it poured something from its mouth into the fire.
Everything became frantic Kira threw me backwards and the fire had started to swell up like a balloon. She dove to the ground just as it exploded throwing firey embers everywhere the black figure lept forth toward me. kira's spear was sent flying toward it stabbing into its arm. the figure turned toward her she backed up quickly as it moved threateningly toward her.
So ends the first chapter.
