There were only two seats left. One on the left ...

There were only two seats left. One on the left of Chris, and the other next to ME. Oh please don't let that guy sit next to me. "Chris! Sit next to me! Now!"

" Why?" he asked, smirking at me from the front. " Don't want that wolf next to you?"

" Just do it! Please!"

" Okay Mr. Kraft, you can sit over there next to Chris." Mrs. Guin pointed the tiger to his seat. " And you can sit over there, next to Yuri." I glared angrily at Chris. He just shrugged, a picture of innocence and a small golden halo hovering above his head.

" I hate you." I muttered darkly to him.

" I love you too." He replied back. I scowled. While all of that was happening, the wolf was getting closer. When he was finally standing next to me, he was a little hesitant to sit down. But he couldn't just stand there all day so he set his backpack down and sat. We didn't look at each other. Or, at least I didn't.

" Okay, now that everyone's here, I think it's time to introduce yourselves to your tablemate. That would be the person sitting next to you." Mrs. Guin stated.

I heard a snort behind me. " Mate." I turned around to see a rat and a rabbit giggling and laughing quietly to each other. I turned back and rolled my eyes. Ugh, really, am I the only one mature around here ? Me and the wolf still didn't say anything. Alright fine! Let's just get this over with. I took a deep breath.

" Hi. " I said finally, turning to him.

The wolf stared at me startled, but quickly brought himself together. " Hello. My name is Mark. Mark Sinda. I believe we met at the library." He gave me a smile and offered his paw.

Sinda...that's an unusual name, but pretty at the same time. " I'm Yuri Otasaki." I replied , shaking his paw. Wow. He has a strong grip but it's gentle too. I thought as he held my paw. I blushed deeply.

Well, actually Otasaki wasn't my last name anymore, since Mom married Rob. It was now Gwenvore. There was no way I was having THAT as my last name. He raised his eyebrow " Otasaki? You're Japanese?" I nodded shyly.

" And this is my friend Yuri." I turned to see Chris gesturing to me.

" Hey." The tiger next to Chris said to me. " Getting along with Mark?"

" John. Mind your own business." Mark growled. It wasn't a menacing growl, just a playful one.

" You guys know each other?" Chris asked, looking at them.

" Yup, me and Mark have been best friends for years." John replied

" Really!? That' s the same thing with me and Yuri! We've been best friends for, like, ever!" Chris said enthusiastically.

" Is he really your friend?" Mark whispered to me.

" Yeah. Unfortunately." I answered and smirked at Chris. Mark and John laughed. Chris just pouted and sticked his tongue out at me.

" Oh! I almost forgot. I have to take roll to make sure you're in the right class." Mrs. Guin exclaimed. She took out a piece of paper and called out names. After a while, she called my name " Yuri Gwenvore?"

" Here." I raised my hand. Mark looked at me.

" I thought your name was Otasaki?"

" I have a step dad." I explained bluntly.

" Ah."

The rest of the period went pretty smoothly, me, Chris, Mark, and John talked for a while. Okay, maybe that's a lie. I was mostly silent. That's when the bell rang. I picked up my backpack.

" Bye." said Mark, giving a wave.

" Bye." I waved back and left, dragging Chris with me.

" Ow! Ow! You got my hair. You got my hair." He winced in pain.

" Oh, sorry." I let go. I thought I held him by the scruff.

" Jeez. Are you really in that much of a hurry to get away from him?" He snapped, patting his hair back into place.

" Well, we DO have to get to our next class." I reminded him. "By the way, how was John?"

"Wonderful. He's really cute. It's so weird, he likes all the same things I like. I wonder if he likes guys?"

" Probably not." I smiled at him.

Somewhere in the school...

A young girl stood in the hallway, her eyes pointed down. She had been standing there ever since Yuri and Chris left the classroom. They didn't notice her. Nor did anyone else who passed. It was like she was just... not there. She sighed, adjusted her headband, smoothed out her white dress, and left the school building.
