#1 of Operation: Liberation (New)

The Axis of Evil have invaded the United States on 20170205 (2017 February 5) and surprisingly have taken over the states. Endrico Warwing and his unit, the U.S. 2nd Air Assault Division (Med), was in Australia at the time. He deploys with his unit as well as other armies in a major offensive to liberate America and reach Washington D.C. It is a race to the White House to save the president and America's government from the invading armies of the Axis.

Anti-Aircraft fire engulfed the night sky as I descended from a Boeing C-17, my parachute opening to slow my descent. I struggled with steering my parachute due to the strong winds of tonight, the wind blowing me off course from the designated drop point marked with green chem-lights.

I landed safely onto the soft ground and rolled, popping back up onto a knee with my parachute off and my sidearm in my paws, scanning around for any immediate threats. After making sure I was safe, I retrieved my M4A1 carbine from my pack and adjusted the collar on my multi-cam combat shirt, brushing the dirt off my combat pants and making sure my MBAV combat vest was on securely. After checking myself, I grabbed my rifle and darted to the nearest tree line, leaving the parachute behind and keeping my head down as the sounds of distant fighting and overhead planes can be heard.

I took cover by a tree and sat down, turning on the greenish colored flashlight that was attached to the side my ECH combat helmet and pulling a map out of my multi-cam combat pants, looking over the map of Newnan as well as the Defense Advanced GPS Receiver Version 2 on my left wrist.

Damn. My unit and the British paratroopers were supposed to link up to the west of Newnan with the Georgia State Defense Force and liberate the city from a small detachment of hostile troops, but I strayed off course by a couple of miles.

The enemy invaded the United States a little over a few months ago, taking control of most of the country excluding a few pockets of resistance. Washington D.C. is still under U.S. control as far as I know. When the invasion happened, my unit, the 2nd Air Assault Medical Detachment was in Australia, doing joint exercises with the Australian paratroopers.

On the fifth of February, 2017, we got a transmission that the United States was being attacked by an unknown enemy, targeting Alaska. It was about night-time that day when we got the message about the surprise attack. By the time the Australian military and my unit were fully mobilized, the President issued a message after five days, saying that the Russians, Iranians, and North Koreans have taken control of most of the United States and were now attacking the White House in Washington D.C. They've attacked us when most of our military was preoccupied with the War on Terror and the conflict with North Korea.

At the same time of the invasion to the United States, our allies Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and countless other countries in the Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) declared war on Iran, North Korea, and Russia, with the three countries responding with declarations of war. World War III came swiftly, with North Korea, Iran, and Russia forming the Axis of Evil. With whatever troops our allies could spare, along with my unit, the Australian military, and any available American units, all formed coalitions to prepare an operation on the Axis of Evil in the United States.

The Australian military and my unit flew over to Puerto Rico, where remnants of the American military and Puerto Rican National Guard were waiting for us. After months of planning and coordinating with resistance fighters in the United States, we launched the Florida Campaign. We needed to liberate Florida to establish a foothold in the southern region in the U.S. and use the state as a staging point for further operations in the southeastern part of the country.

It wasn't easy though, and we sustained heavy casualties. After succeeding in reclaiming Florida, the German, British, and 6th Marine Expeditionary Force stationed in Italy launched an amphibious assault on the Carolinas, while the French and Italians sent any troops they could spare to reinforce the defenses at Washington D.C.

We launched the Georgia campaign within the week of liberating Florida. Our combined forces of my unit, Puerto Rican NG, the Australian 1st Engineer Regiment, and the British 1st Jump Regiment were designated Taskforce Green. The stuff I've seen in Florida was gut-wrenching, but I had a feeling was going to be rougher in Georgia, my home state.

I folded my map neatly and shoved it back into the cargo pocket of my pants after determining the location I was going to meet up with the Taskforce. I was going to link up with my unit near downtown Newnan, where my unit and a few resistance fighters were most likely engaging the hostiles judging by the gunfire. I didn't have a radio to signal any friendly forces in the area, for there weren't enough for all the troops to have.

Gathering my gear and turning the flashlight off, I headed towards a nearby road with my assault rifle in my paws. I planned to use the road as a straight shot into Newnan, and my DAGR-V2 calculated that I should be there in about two hours. I looked at my watch on the same wrist, which read 23:37 in digital numbers. I moved in a low crouch, watching my surroundings as I approached the nearby road.

"Freeze," a British accent from one of the trees hissed.

Shit. I froze like the voice asked, my weapon pointed in the direction of where the voice came from. "Friendly," I growled, "I'm American."

Jumping down from the tree was a silhouette of a canine anthro, who had on combat gear and was pointing his weapon at me. "Flash," the British male said in a low tone.

"Thunder," I answered, lowering my weapon I had trained on the silhouette. The figure stepped out of the shadow of the tree.

The figure was a young male husky, who appeared to be no older than twenty years old. He wore a DPM camouflaged combat uniform, as well as a larger backpack on his back and an L85A2 assault rifle in his paws, the muzzle lowered to the ground. Compared to my five-foot-six height, he was at least a few inches taller than me.

"I'm Corporal James Knox," the male anthro husky introduced, the moonlight reflecting of his white furred face, "Taskforce Green."

The sounds of AA fire and airplanes could still be heard, but they were beginning to dull out. The gunfire and explosions, however, still filled the night.

"I'm Private Endrico Warwing," I introduced myself, "Taskforce Green also. I was heading towards Newnan High to meet up with the assaulting forces there."

Corporal Knox nodded his head and we started walking alongside the road, "we both were blown off course," he began, adjusting the backpack on his back, "Bad time to jump if you ask me."

I scanned the road ahead of us as silence came between us, both of us maintaining our combat intervals.

Up ahead, there were about two to three cars that were burning fireballs, the smell of burning gasoline and flesh attacking my nostrils. That scene alone showed me that this campaign was going to be even more bloodier for my paws. The horrors of war were soon to follow again, along with dead and wounded that I and fellow medics would have to deal with.
