**"Oh Hey! I see the beach! Woo!"

Barbara looks out her side of the window in the and admires the beautiful coastline as they drive by. Ben on the other hand wasn't too amused by Barbara's antics. She had rolled the window down to poke her head out and get a nice huff of the ocean air. "Barbara, really? I have the AC on, c'mon!" Ben says in an annoyed tone. "Oh, I forgot," Barbara replies. She rolls her window back up and gives Ben a nervous smile. "Sorry!"

Further down the road, Ben sees his exit coming up. "Ah, finally," he says with a sigh of relief. "Been driving for hours," But just as he tries to turn left for the hotel, a speeding pickup flying down the left lane nearly hits him. "Gah!" as he swerves out of the way. "Dammit, what is wrong with these locals? I had my signal on and he acted like I wasn't there! Ugh!" Ben says angrily. Barbara keeps to herself, she never did like it when he got upset behind the wheel. But their exit comes up and he's able to make his left turn. Barbara looks at the hotel intently as she was pretty much excited all month for this trip with Ben. "Aw yay! We're finally here!" Barbara says. She gives Ben a warm smile, trying to get his mid off of the truck that cut him off.

"Ya know, this coast really is nice. I never tire of coming here. Even if the locals are stupid," Ben says as he closes the door of his car. "Oh Ben, stop it. We're here to relax, no need to get worked up. We're far away from home an the issues still there!" Barbara says in a cheerful tone. Ben takes out his key and pops open the trunk of his car, Barbara is already at the back of it and quickly grabs her bags. Ben trying to be happy gets his bags next. He shuts the trunk with his elbow, locks the car and makes their way to the hotel after a long trip.

The two make their way into the lobby. Ben looks around, he's seen this hotel before, but never saw more than the lobby. The was the first time they were staying there as guests. "Whoa, the lobby is crazy fancy!" says Barbara, bewildered by the modern, yet sleek and classy look of the lobby and furniture. Ben was tired from driving, he simply wanted to go to the room already. As Barbara explored the lobby, bags in hand and all, Ben checked in at the front desk. "Good afternoon, sir! Here to check in?" the person at the front desk asks. "Well obviously, I didn't come out here just to say hi," Ben remarks. The person at the desk wasn't amused by Ben's rather, blunt and sarcastic attitude. "Ahem, name sir?" he asks. "It's Benjamin,"

Barbara was still walking about when she heard Ben all out to her. "Barbara, I got the room keys, let's go!" Barbara perks up and shuffles over the Ben by the elevator. As they waited for the elevator, Ben noticed the lobby was rather, empty. Seemed odd to him, it was the middle of summer, on the weekend too! Barbara was far too oblivious and happy to take notice of the lack of people in the hotel. Barbara waits in front of the elevator with almost a child like happiness to her, Ben still sternly observing the lobby and growing suspicious of the lack of any other people in the lobby. But before Ben could ponder too much, a ding from the elevator and the doors open up. Barbara quickly walks in as Ben continues to observe the empty lobby as he walks into the elevator.

"Ben, what were you looking around for?" Barbara asks. "What, you didn't notice that there was nobody in the lobby? It's the summer, people always vacation in the summer. I always remember this place being busy," Ben replies. Barbara waves her bangs out of her face, "Ben, you think way too much, you know that? I told you we're on vacation. Just stop being such a worrywart, kay?" Ben sighs and rolls his eyes, not happy that Barbara is being very oblivious to his concerns. The elevator finally stops and Barbara quickly walks out, Ben keeping an eye behind Barbara. "Ben, what room is it?" she asks. "Oh, it's room 625, I got the key," Ben replies. But as Ben gets the room key, Barbara was already in front of the door, she smiles at Ben in her usual innocent way. Ben smirks back and opens up the door to their hotel room.

"Oh wow! It's huge!" Barbara walks in and immediately falls in love with the suite. She lays her bags on one of the beds, Ben lays his belongings on the other bed and walks over to the chairs on the other side of the room. He sits down and starts to take in the surroundings of the hotel suite. "Hmm, seemed nicer in the pictures. Meh, still nicer than the other places around here. Still don't know why the place is empty," Ben mumbles to himself. Barbara opens the sliding door to the small balcony by her bed. Her eyes light up as she admires the majestic view of the ocean from the balcony. A cool breeze pushes her hair about, the salty ocean air fills her nostrils as she takes a deep breath and smiles. She holds onto the rail and looks towards the ocean, then looking down to where the beach is. "This vacation is gonna be awesome, I just know it,"

Ben watches Barbara from his chair, making sure she doesn't get reckless or anything. He crosses his arms and goes back to thinking why the hotel was empty downstairs, it baffled and confused him. It was already starting to irritate him highly and he didn't like it. But what could he do? How could he figure out what was going on? "Hmmph, I can't just walk up to that front desk guy and ask something like that. Bad enough he had no sense of humor with me," Ben says to himself. As he continues to think and over think some more, Barbara comes back in. "Ben! It's gorgeous out, how about we go down to the beach, yeah?" she says with a smile. Ben rolls his eyes. "I guess,"

Barbara runs into the bathroom to change, Ben looks at some of the booklets left on the table next to his chair. "Hmm, activities, food, places to go around the area, ugh this all looks-" Ben cuts off when he sees a page for a bar in the hotel and by the beach front. A cheeky grin comes across his face. "Okay, now we're talkin' here! Now, do they have a list of what drinks they carry?" he says to himself. With his sudden change in mood, Barbara comes out in her bathing suit, Ben looks up and shakes his head a bit. "What?" she asks. "You should loose some weight you know," he replies as he looks at the claws on his right paw. Barbara stiffens up and pouts. "I told you, it's my fluff!" she yells out. Pfft, then shave it down. It's summer," Ben replies. Barbara walks over to Ben and smacks him across the back of the head. "Ow, what the hell, Barbara?!"

Barbara grabs her towel and walks towards the door. "I'll be enjoying myself at the beach, come down when you're done being grumpy," she says. She shuts the door behind her hard, Ben rolls his eyes. "Ugh, better toss on my swim trunks and keep an eye on her. May as well check out that bar while I'm down there," he says as he walks into the bathroom to change. Meanwhile, down in the lobby, Barbara walks out of the elevator and walks up to the front desk. "Uh, heya, mister? Which way is the path to the beach, please?" The man working the desk looks up from his book, "Oh! Just go out the side doors over there, there's a boardwalk that takes you to the beach. Look for the outdoor bar, that has the stairway leading down to the beach itself," he tells Barbara. "Ah, thank you, mister!" she says as she happily makes her way to the door.

Ben steps out of the bathroom, now in his swim trunks but still with his t-shirt on too. "Hmmph, may as well check out the bar. I need something good," Ben mumbles to himself. He grabs his keycard for the room and makes his way out. As he closes the door behind him, he sees a small family down the lobby. "Hmm, there's people here after all. Canines too," Ben says. "Heh, good," Ben makes his way to the elevator and presses the down button. Looking out the window he sees the beach and wide blue ocean. But looking down on the beach, sure enough he sees a white and yellowish blur. "Heh, she would already have stopped being mad at me,"

Ben reaches the lobby and walks by the front desk. The person behind the desk recognises Ben and stands up. "Oh! Your girlfriend went that way to the beach, by the boardwalk," he says. Ben shifts his eyebrow up and gives him a bit of a scowl. The person behind the desk quickly stops smiling and sits back down. Ben makes his way to the side doors of the lobby. Outside, the cool ocean breeze greets Ben as he walks down the boardwalk. He sees the top of the outdoor bar and gives a sly grin. Down on the beach, Barbara was already soaking in the sun, laying back on her beach towel. The sounds of the ocean waves crashing on the beach and the seagulls cawing as they floated in the gentle breeze, it but Barbara at peace. Ben walks up to Barbara as she was laid back with her eyes closed and bent down to her level. He gives Barbara's nose a simple tap, and she opens up one eye to see what it was. "Hey," Ben says quietly. "I'll be at the bar, bug me if you need me," he says, giving a smirk and walks back to the bar. Barbara closes her eye again and sighs. "Such a pain in my butt," she says.

Ben makes his way to the bar, he sees the barkeep and nobody else there. He makes himself comfortable on one of the stools and the barkeep comes over to Ben. "Well, what can I getcha, huh?" Ben looks up at the bottles lined up on the rack. "Hmm," as he looks the bottles over. "I dunno, give me somethin' hard. Surprise me," Ben replies, giving a smirk. "Heh, daring. I like it. I'll surprise ya," the barkeep replies. Ben turns around to see Barbara still laying down. The beach had some people out and about on it, some grazing in the sun like Barbara and some just going for a walk. The sun shines in a cloudless sky, as Ben continues to scope out the beach's landscape. "Here ya go, kid," the barkeep says to Ben. It was a short glass, whatever it was it was, it was on the rocks. Ben takes a sip, not really knowing what to expect. He got a strong wiff of whiskey, but the taste was smooth, fruity like. But had a kick as it went down. "Damn, this is pretty good, what is it?" Ben asks. The barkeep chuckles, "It's my specialty drink, I call it Fruit Fire. Ingredients are a secret, though," he says with a wink. Ben smirks snidely back.

Barbara was soaking up the sun when the wind kicks up slightly and some sand hits her muzzle. "Ow, that went in my nose!" Barbara says as she sits up. As she held her muzzle, she looks out to the ocean. It was hot out, after all. As she was deciding whether or not to jump in the water, Ben comes by and sits next to Barbara. Right away, she noticed the hard liquor smell on Ben's breath. Barbara rolls her eyes at Ben. "Really? It's not even the evening yet-" she gets cut off when wraps one arm around her and holds her close. "Oh," she says out of surprise. Ben lets go and looks at her with a smirk. "Go have fun in the water, I'll be in there in a minute," he says slyly.

Barbara runs off towards the ocean waves, Ben watch her run off and as usual, keeps an eye out for what's around her. He then hears Barbara laugh loudly. "The water is so warm, this is awesome! Ben! Come on!" Barbara yells out. Ben smirks and gets up. He stretches out his arms and makes his way to the water. He laughed to himself as he saw Barbara jumping at the incoming waves. "She's such a child, I swear," he says to himself. Ben walks up to where the ocean meets the beach and his footpaws are greeted with the warm ocean water. His ears perk up, "She wasn't kidding," he says. He makes his way in and the water level rises up to his thighs, then his waist. Barbara is nearby when another wave comes forth. Barbara jumps for in, Ben dives under. The wave passes and Barbara doesn't see Ben. She looks around but feels two paws grab her sides. "AH! What the heck?!" she cries out. She turns around to see Ben rise from the water, his head down and his long black hair covering his face. "Oh my god, you're an ass!" Barbara says and giggles as she swims away. Ben whips his hair back and follows Barbara.

As more waves crash onto the beach, Ben and Barbara lose track of time for a bit. The sun was starting to set and the waves died down as the tide started to fall back. "Aww, it's getting late," Barbara says "Heh, it is. Let's dry off, we'll figure out something to do, how's that?" Ben asks. Barbara smiles warmly at Ben. "I'd like that. But no bar!" Ben sighs, "Fine, just for tonight. I gotta check this beach front bar again, though. That drink of his is trippy and I dig it," The two get back to their towels and start to dry off. Ben wraps his towel around Barbara's shoulders after he feels dry enough. "Oh, you don't have to, Ben," she says. "Nah, it's fine," the two make their way back up the beach, towards the nice hotel. Ben wraps arm around Barbara's shoulder as they make their way down the boardwalk. The barkeep wipes down some glasses and watches Ben and Barbara walk away. "Those two are quite an odd couple, that's for sure,"

****************************************

Nightfall comes. Ben scrummages through one of his bags back in the hotel room, as Barbara looks out at the ocean from the balcony. "Dammit, where did I put that, oh! Aha, there it is," Ben says as he grabs a long rectangular box. As Barbara is infatuated with the nightlife of the beach while Ben still gets ready. As he finds his lighter in his pocket, he carries the box and calls to Barbara. "Hey, let's go down by the beach!" he says, Barbara's eyes light up and she happily nods. Ben smirks, "Alright, let's go,"

They make their way from their room to the elevator. The hallway was abuzz with people coming back to their rooms and going out for the night. A much different vibe than earlier in the day where nobody was to be found. Ben walks over to the elevator and presses the button to go down. Barbara notices the box in Ben's arm, she tilts her head slightly out of curiosity. "What's that?" she asked. Ben chuckles, "Heh, you'll see later. Don't worry about it," The elevator doors open as a group of people noisily make their way out. The two walk into the empty elevator as Ben hits the button for the lobby and the doors close. As the elevator makes it's way down, Barbara looks at Ben with concern. "Ben, I didn't mean to yell at you earlier today. I feel bad for it," she says. "Eh, it's whatever. I've forgotten about it," Ben replies. Barbara pouts, "You could at least say 'it's okay' or somethin'," Barbara replies.

The elevator doors open up and the two walk into the lobby, People sitting around in the chairs, people waiting on rides and people to meet, the lobby was bustling with life. Ben makes his way to the side doors to the boardwalk, Barbara follows, still wondering what Ben was up to. Out of the lobby and into the cool night air, Ben looks around for a fairly empty spot on the beach. He sees a fairly vacant spot the opposite direction from where they were earlier in the day. "Heh, there we go," Ben says to himself. He quickly walks down the boardwalk as Barbara tries to keep up. Ben sees some stairs going down to the beach and he quickly walks down. Barbara still keeps up, wondering why he's in a hurry. As they reach the sand, Barbara notices the clear night sky filled with stars. "It's so pretty out tonight, oh my gosh!"

Ben sees the opportunity with Barbara distracted, he opens the box and turns his back to Barbara and pulls out a firework rocket. He fumbles for his lighter, he looks back and sees Barbara still looking up at the sky. He gets his lighter finally and lights the fuse. Ben gets up and backs away, "Hey, Barbara, keep looking at the Sky," he says. "Okay!" she happily replies. The fuse quickly burns, but...nothing. "What the?" Ben says, he leans down to inspect the rocket. He puts his ear near it and hears a hissing sound. He realized quickly that it was still live, just as he pulled away, the rocket takes off. It completely caught Ben off guard and he jumped back into Barbara. "H-Hey, Ben! What are you-" Ben cuts her off and points upwards. Barbara sees the rocket's trail go upwards and upwards. With a loud boom, the rocket explodes, blue and white sparkles emerge from the firework rocket, as the colorful embers slowly make their way back down to the beach. "Heh, surprise Barbara," Ben says with a cheeky grin. Barbara smiles back and hugs Ben. The two enjoy the rest of the evening under the stars accompanied by the placid sounds of the ocean.**
