Keisha and Dean agreed.

"Bring the unconscious ones over here," she said, gesturing to a pile of pillows off to the corner of the room.

"Where's the rest of your squad?" she asked turning to look at Mathew.

"I sent them home to nurse back to health," he confirmed. She nodded, accepting what he'd done.

Blizzard and Vace slowly moved to where the husky's mate had motioned to lay the girls and Seth on top of the pile for them to continue to rest.

"It doesn't make sense. Why would they suddenly attack?" Dean said almost to himself.

"That's what I wanted to know from you," the husky grunted as his mate ushered him over to her bed and sat him down. She moved to his side and began to nuzzle her face into his shoulder, no doubt thinking of what could have happened to her beloved.

Professor Knetter eased his back against the far wall and stroked the thin beard under his chin.

"Do you think you might be able to take me to the exact place that you were attacked?" The scientist requested, looking up to the alpha.

Blizzard opened his mouth to answer but his mate cut him off.

"No. We will go there as soon as tomorrow morning. That is all," she said harshly, keeping her face close to her love's shoulder.

"But madam," Dean argued but was silenced when she gave him a sharp look.

"You're all dismissed until tomorrow. We'll leave the sleeping ones alone until they wake, is that understood?" She got confused glances from each of the soldiers, but they each obeyed reluctantly and started to file out of the room, including Professor Knetter.

"Come, Number One," Dean called behind him as he headed for the exit.

It was then that Blizzard realized the machine that stood in the center of the room. It was bigger then Vace but similar in shape. For a moment it just stood there and then it began to walk for the door. It had incredibly fluid motion to its mechanics, stepping as if it was just a suit of armor with someone inside of it. He could tell that wasn't the case, though. It was roughly the shape of a canine, but it had no visor on its elongated head and its tail was long and slender like a lizard's.

When it got to the door, it ducked down and even rested a paw on the top of the frame until it moved out of range and let go. So that was the result of Professor Knetter's hardened work over so many days and seasons. He was thoroughly impressed by the end product and was even itching to give it a proper test run.

Keisha wrapped her arms around Blizzard's torso just as the machine exited the room, yanking him from his thoughts.

"How close were you?" she asked without looking at him.

"Inches. I'd be gone if not for Seth," he answered mechanically and turned his vision down to her.

Her limbs tightened around his body as if she was in pain.

"Blizzard, I can sense that we don't have much more time together. I feel like you're going to be taken from me," she whimpered into him.

The husky watched her and quirked an eyebrow.

"What is that it that you want, Keisha?" She hesitated and then turned her gaze up to her mate's eyes. He could have easily gotten lost in her eyes. They were big and beautiful, deep green like an emerald.

"You know what I want..." She said softly, her ears going back against her head and her expression drooping. Blizzard's teeth clicked.

"You know how I feel about that," He whispered to her.

She tore her vision from his and growled.

"Well, what about how I feel?" she said acidly. "What if some day you're out, and you die? What will I have then? You can at least give me a litter or just one pup for me, for me to take care of!" She growled, tears coming to her eyes.

Blizzard gave her a hard look.
