Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Chapter 4 A Shadow Complete

The air in the healing ward was thick, hot and humid, all around pokemon anxiously tended their wounded patients. The sounds of pain and suffering coming from each of the beds echoed throughout the room. The tending pokemon carefully inspected their patients, touching ever so gently while asking the suffering creatures where the pain originated.

Team Shadow Strike worked as a pair to stabilize a writhing Krookodile. Gauner slowly explored her injuries while Gypsy comforted the large reptile who continued to moan an squirm on the bed of soft grass. Gauner continued his inspection while trying to stay out from under the larger pokemon.

After having his paws rolled onto again he moved to where Gypsy was holding the Krookodile's long head, "Hey now, I appreciate the good acting but if you really had these injuries you wouldn't be moving. Hold still please."

The Krookodile stopped her moaning and writhing, her long snout splitting to show a massive smile full of sharp teeth, "Sorry bud, I'll do better. Oh... ow... the pain." She continued her act while holding much more still.

"It's okay, we're going to help you," Gypsy told the Krookodile, never falling out of character, "What are we dealing with Gauner?"

Gauner looked again at the marks drawn on the Krookodile's scaled hide, "Several long lacerations on her torso, looks like she was forcibly pinned by something with claws. No signs of broken bones or other trauma. Bleeding is already stopped. We need to clean and bandage the wounds and give her something for the pain. The good Oran salve will work, seal the wound and kill the pain" Gauner put actions to words as he pulled the required items from his pack.

Gypsy gave the 'patient' a final pat before moving to assist her partner. Working together they quickly had the Krookodile's chest and belly cleaned and wrapped in tight bandages. They set their supply of Oran salve on the ground beside the bed. Both Gauner and Gypsy gave their patient a final look over before calling over nurse Paula.

"Are we done Shadow Strike? Let's take a look." Paula looked at her notes on her clipboard and the bandages on the Krookodile. "What can you tell me?"

"The patient was found in the field with lacerations, no other trauma. She complained of pain from the wounds." Gypsy replied while wiping her face, "We cleaned the wounds, applied Oran and bandages."

Paula looked at the salve on the ground and nodded. "Very good. Mr. Gauner, from the wounds and the location of the victim, what can you tell me?"

"She was found and treated in the field, no hostiles were present but the nature of her injuries suggests she was forcibly pinned. They wounds need to be stitched as soon as possible, From the location of the lacerations she was held face down with claws wrapped around her chest." Gauner knew Paula liked when students were thorough in their examinations so he thought for a moment about what he had learned of these types of injuries, a thought occurring to him, "These are common injuries in rape, so she needs to be questioned by a therapist as well."

"Perfect, you analyzed the situation, made the right choices on treatment and gave the proper follow up advice. You two will make excellent field medics." Paula said before moving along to check on the progress of the other students.

"So I survived then?" The Krookodile asked them.

"Seems so, but looks like you were raped so I don't know how happy you would be if this was real." Gypsy responded.

"Naw, the fox said it's common in rape, doesn't mean anyone actually got me. This is the first time I've actually survived in one of these little practice runs. I was getting tired of dying all the time." The Krookodile said with another wide smile.

"Well we thank you for it, it sure beats practicing on the dummies." Gauner told her as he started pulling the bandages from her.

The bandages removed their 'patient' walked off leaving them to wait idly until the class was over. They used the time to discuss the practice scenario they had just completed.

"I think we did good this time." Gypsy told him, "I mean, we didn't stumble over each other or anything so that's something."

Gauner lowered his ears and grimaced as he remembered their previous attempts at team healing exercises. The pair of them both trying to take action on their own and getting nowhere fast for it, they had both decided they needed a better plan and assigned tasks, "Yeah, it worked better like this."

Paula came passed them again as she continued moving along the teams, checking on their various progress. She stopped and turned to them, "You both have your skills tests in the morning right?" They both nodded, "Well then, go ahead and take off early, you will need the rest."

"Thank you nurse Paula." Gauner said with a bow.

Paula simply smiled before returning to her class. Team Shadow Strike moved out quietly so as not to disturb any of the other teams. Once they had found themselves in the hallway they walked in silence, glad to be out of the uncomfortable practice room. While the situations and injuries weren't real, the volunteers that played the victims were still good at making it seem so.

As they walked, Gauner reflected back on the last three weeks. Three weeks of strenuous training and tiring classes. It seemed like they had just arrived yesterday. They had both worked very hard, harder than the young fox had ever worked before. They had learned what they needed from the classrooms and gained a great deal of strength on the training field.

Now with their final class of the day complete they had nothing to do but rest until their assigned start time in the morning. The time spent in guild headquarters had worked wonders for Gauner, he was no longer shy or nervous about his surroundings, or the pokemon that lived there. He still hid his illusions as well as his true colors, but no longer felt the need to sneak along and remain unseen when Gypsy wasn't with him.

His new found confidence had lead him to exploring the city on his own. Meeting new people and getting to know his fellow rescuers better. They had hit it off well with Team Wingbone and had spent many nights associating with them. They had also made a point to visit Vurdon, often enjoying evening in his home hearing stories of Gypsy's family history. Gauner found out through this that her name was in fact her ancestral history as well.

One thing he had not found himself more comfortable with was the female attention he had attracted. He frequently saw Flare whenever he was requested to visit the borderlands relation officers, whose names he still didn't know, for checkups on his status. The big dog was always on work mode and usually paid him no mind, but whenever he happened to stay late enough to catch her off work he often found himself wrapped in her massive fore legs with her grooming his fur.

Maria on the other hand had a subtle way of sneaking into whatever situation he found himself in. The Mienfoo would often appear wherever he found himself roaming about town. She had so far made no advances beyond simply flirting, but she always made her presence known.

He found Maria to be much more unnerving than Flare. It had become immediately apparent that while Flare liked to flirt and tease and often showed her affection physically she had no romantic intentions. Oh she would be willing, he had no doubt about that, she made it quite clear he was welcome in her bed, but that was just her way. She treated all of her friends the same.

Maria on the other hand, she was clearly after more than that. Every time he found himself looking at her eyes there was no mistaking the hungry, sensual look she gave him. Part of him wanted to dive into those deep eyes, embrace her and let the moment flow, the rest of him wanted to run and hide. This usually ended with him sitting low with his legs tucked together to hide his very much male reaction.

He looked up his partner walking along side him, at least there was one female with which he knew exactly where he stood. In such a short time she had become his closest friend. Although they had only known each other for a few short weeks he felt as if he had knows her his whole life. There was nothing intimate between them and that was fine with him, she meant much more to him than that.

With a smile growing across his muzzle, he took a side step to bump his hip into hers, "So, what are we going to do tonight then?"

Gypsy looked down at her partner, he wore what was at first a rare sight, but had now become his normal silly grin, "Well, I was thinking of getting something to eat then just taking it easy in our room. Not much point tying to plan or study now, might as well just relax. We're about as ready as we're going to get. You're welcome to do whatever you would like."

"That sounds fine with me. Let's get some food and relax then." Gauner, no longer needing his partner to show him the way, bounded off to what had become his favorite room in the guild, the mess hall.

************************************

The next morning found a nervous Team Shadow Strike fully geared up and sitting in a group of about twenty new teams near the forest outside the city. They had woken early and spen thier morning fighting down jitters. In the end they had both managed to force down a breakfast that sat heavy in their stomaks.

The nearly hour walk to the starting position wasn't any better. Surrounded by new teams they had all walked in silence, bairly agnologing each other as they procceded to the designated start where Linn stood before them giving them all a run down of what was to be expected of them during the skills test.

"You will be working with your team and your team only." Linn's voice boomed across the crowd, "There will be judges randomly throughout the course. You will know them by their bright yellow vest. They will provide your goal for each obstacle. Outside of that information they will not say anything else or answer any questions."

Linn had given her training group the same speech two days ago but Gauner forced himself to listen anyways. If there was one thing he had learned about guild life it was that things changed quickly, and often without reason.

"These tests are not tailored to your teams. There may be obstacles your team will be unable to do. If you come across one, tell the judge you are unable and why. You are scored not only on how well you do each test, you will also be scored based off of your choices on what test you do and do not do." Linn paused to let the information sink in, "If you bypass one you could do you will be marked down, if you attempt one that you can't do you will be marked down. If any team member is injured and unable to proceed, your test is over. Now, report to your assigned starting positions."

The new teams broke off and headed to their respective starting positions. There were five courses total, each team leader had been handed a card with two numbers on it. The first one showed their course number, the second was their place in line. Team Shadow Strike was third in line for course number four.

They walked to the marked course start and handed their card to the attending judges before taking their place in line. They waited patiently for their turn, the first team had started right away so there was only one team ahead of them. Gauner looked to the line behind them, Maria was there, two teams behind them and last in line for course number four. For once she didn't seem to notice him, she was shifting nervously like the rest of the line.

"Team two start." Gauner nearly jumped out of his fur when the judge called out.

The second team, made up of a Rattatta, a Buizel and two Eevees took off into the forest to face their challenge. Gauner and Gypsy both stepped forward and took their place in the front of the line. The teams behind them shuffled awkwardly to take up the vacated space.

Now, standing in front Gauners stomach turned cartwheels. He knew Gypsy had to be feeling the same watching her feet shuffle as she fidgeted beside him. Both her ears were pinned straight back and her tail was hung low. He made a conscious effort to put his own ears and tail up. He needed to be strong today.

It wasn't like there was anything to be afraid of, just a few short weeks ago had he not bravely invaded Krieg's cave and stolen from the dog whose name alone was feared here? His life was in danger that night, here the worst that could happen was they fail, get a bad ranking and have to try again next time. Yet he couldn't keep his legs from shaking beneath him.

He swallowed hard and looked at Gypsy, she returned his gaze and opened her mouth to speak. "You ready Gau..."

"Team three go."

Gypsy's question forgotten they sprang forward, Gauner following just behind his partner. His nervousness forgotten as soon as the test began, he was a creature of action, as long as he had something to do, all else didn't matter.

They traveled along the path for several minutes before they reached a clearing. In the clearing stood a short fat looking Politoed wearing bright yellow robes. "Your first test is speed and agility, there are mud pits and water pools in the clearing. Cross as fast as you can, ring the bell when you reach the other side, go."

Wasting no time Gypsy took off through the clearing with Gauner right behind her. "Stay to one side Gauner. That way we don't both fall in the same trap."

"Sure thing." Gauner leaped across the first mud pit, landing lightly to keep his speed up he continued to follow her.

Using her slight height advantage to see over the taller areas of grass, Gypsy called back to Gauner whenever she saw him approach a trap, "Mud right! Water left. You can jump the next one."

Jump he did. Most of the traps were fairly small and they were both able to clear them with a single jump. In a few short minutes they crossed the clearing and paused only to ring the large brass bell hung at the tree line.

"First one down easy, keep it up Gauner." Gypsy said as the followed the forest path to the next test.

"Looks like we are at the next one." He motioned ahead to where a Sneasel in yellow robes stood before a darker portion of forest.

"Stealth, there are five pokemon watching this section of woods travel through unseen and unheard, when you reach the next clearing you're done." She told them.

Gauner lowered himself to his belly and crawled along side Gypsy into the dark thick woods. He waited until crawled far enough to be out of hearing from the Sneasel before patting Gypsy to get her attention so he could whisper in her ear, "I'll use my illusions, we can just walk through this one."

"Are you sure?" She whispered back with a look of concern, "I thought you wanted to keep that a secret?"

"Only one who will know is you, and you already know." Gauner's eyes when out of focus as he cast the forest into an illusion of itself. "Done, so long as we stay quite we can follow the trail and still not be seen."

Gypsy gave him a nod and led them down the trail. Despite his illusions she still kept low and walked carefully. Slowly they made their way along the path, Gypsy nearly had a heart attack when they came suddenly on the first watching judge. A thin tall Watchog was rapidly glancing around looking for any sign of them, completely unaware they were walking past just a few feet in front of him.

Slowly and carefully they made their way through the forest. They saw no sign of the remaining judges but knew they had to be there. They had made their way down the path and found the next forest clearing. Here there was a small area of clear cut grass leading up to a small cliff.

Walking into the clearing they adjusted their path to come to the next judge. A very bored looking Ursaring who was fidgeting with his robes.

"Climb the cliff." He said to them without giving them so much of a glance.

They both looked up the wall of rock towering over them. Gypsy kept looking from the cliff face to Gauner, "Can you?"

"No, not without a rope or something to help. I don't see anything for you to tie to up there either. I think we should probably skip this one." He replied after some though. He could climb but only if there were ledges wide enough for him, this cliff had none.

"To the right, path goes around there." The judge said while waiving a hand in the general direction he specified.

Wasting no time they found the path up the cliff and ascended to the top. Here they saw two judges, one waiting at the top of the path and another at the top of the cliff where they would have come up. Each was at the start of a different obstacle course.

Gauner looked at both courses, the one they were in front of lacked the rope climbing challenges the other had. There course had more low obstacles to go under. Of course, anybody that couldn't climb the cliff wouldn't be able to do the climbing on the courses, so those that took the path got different challenges.

"If you don't know what to do here you should probably quit now. Run the course, go go." The Meowth judge told them.

"Easy stuff, let's go Gauner." Gypsy took off without waiting to see if he was behind her, trusting him to follow.

They made short work of the course, jumping, crawling and climbing over each challenge with ease. A few times they reached something a little too tall for Gauner to go over, Gypsy would boost him over from the ground before climbing over. He though off all the times in the wilds he had to run from an enemy and was forced to take a dangerous path because he couldn't make it over something. He really wished Gypsy had been there then.

At the far side of the course they came upon a series of wood archways. Each was set in front of the other and had three individual arches. At the top of the structure was written a question, each of the arches had an answer above them.

The Vulpix judge sitting up front reading a book spoke quickly, "Pick the path with the right answers."

Gypsy nodded and read the first question, "An electric type pokemon would be most in danger from what type of attack?"

Before Gypsy could read the answers Gauner had already picked it, "Ground, the one up there that's right is ground." He was quite pleased with himself for his new ability to read.

The path beyond the archway split off, they walked down the path that was divided by tall hedges to the next question which Gypsy read, "During their reign over the world humans kept pokemon in what?"

"Do you know the answer?" Gauner read through the possible answers but hadn't learned enough about the long dead race to pick the right one. "The only one that makes sense there is cage."

"It's ball actually. While it's true some pokemon were kept in cages, most humans kept their tamed pokemon in balls." Gypsy replied, leading them down the correct path.

As they walked to the next question Gauner couldn't help but shudder slightly at the through of being trapped in a ball. The thought of an entire race dying out was not a pleasant one, yet he was grateful that he didn't have to worry about being abducted like that.

The team continued down the path as it went over a small wooden bridge. While on the bridge they could see that they were in a large hedge maze divided into many meandering paths. Looking across the maze it was apparent that they had many more questions to go.

They continued through, answering all the questions they could. As they progressed the topics became more and more varied with questions that continued to increase in difficulty.

When the pair finally emerged from the end of the maze they found themselves in a large empty clearing. They looked across the field at numerous pokemon, laying randomly about, moaning an rolling on the ground.

A yellow robed Clefairy approached from the field, "Mass triage, provide treatment to the wounded. I will be following to score."

Gypsy gave a nod and looked to Gauner, "You're faster, bypass the lesser injuries and find the severe, we will treat them first."

"On it," Gauner wasted no time darting into the scene to search through the wounded, pausing at each fallen pokemon he reassured them they were here to help and asked if they were in pain as he visually assessed them. They were marked with the standard marks used to designate injury type and severity used in healing class.

As he progressed through he kept count, fifteen total injured with three severely injured. Quickly guiding Gypsy to the most serious injuries they worked together to clean and treat each of the injured, all the while the judge followed behind, checking each victim as they went.

She spoke to them again as they finished bandaging the final injured, "Good job, continue on through that path, you're final test awaits... good luck."

They both nodded before resuming their progress. As they walked through the path the judge had shown them Gauner through to himself, the way the Clefairy has wished them luck, her voice had shown concern. He had to wonder just what they were approaching.

When they rounded the path to the final test they froze, standing before them was Flare. On her face was a look she had never worn before. She stood in a wide battle stance with her eyes locked on theirs, a wicked grin across her muzzle showed her large fangs prominently.

"Last test you two," they both nearly jumped out of their fur when Linn spoke behind them, "Combat; I know she's your friend, but don't expect her to hold back. If you do you will end up like those." She gestured behind her, where the previous team was being treated by a medical team behind them.

"Shit... Okay let's go Gauner." Gypsy said with a slight waiver in her voice.

Gauner could feel his heart racing and his legs shacking, looking back to where Flare waited for him he felt his adrenaline surge. It was then he realized, there was no fear, he was ready, trembling in pure anticipation for the fight to come, "Let's go Gypsy, we got this."

As they advanced on Flare they crossed large sections of burned grass. The scent of ash and smoke strong on the air. The massive Arcanine didn't budge as the rushed closer. No sense trying to plan, no reason for last minute coordination, they would just have to rely on each other and the practice they had together.

When they were nearly to her Flare took a deep breath, lowering her front she braced with her hind legs. With a defining roar she loosed a narrow yet intense spray of fire. Gauner dodged right while Gypsy went to the left, even with several feet between him and the wall of flames he could feel the heat rolling off it.

Despite her bracing Flare was sliding backwards from the force of her attack. Taking advantage of this Gauner pulled his own aura, focusing it he fired a blast of his dark energy from his mouth. His original, and still strongest dark attack. He had trained hard using it, and could now fire it with no hesitation.

The dark projectile struck Flare under her jaw cutting off the searing flames. An instant after the flames stopped Gypsy leaped through the heat haze to land a devastating blow to Flare's chest. Unable to reach any higher on the towering dog Gypsy instead ducked under her, standing between her legs she landed several rapid fire blows before Flare made a blindingly fast spin on her hind legs before kicking back with both of them, sending the significantly smaller Riolu flying.

Sparing a quick glance to where Gypsy was slowing standing up Gauner darted in, nimbly dodging the massive teeth aimed his way he took example from Gypsy and used his smaller size to dash around the big canine. Darting in to nip at her feet and rushing back out before she could retaliate, he kept her spinning and focused on him.

Gypsy returned to the fight as a flurry of high speed punches in kicks. Each of them took an opposite flank so that they could keep the fire dog on the defense, never letting up so she could use one of her powerful attacks. It was a good plan, but like most plans, it didn't survive contact with the enemy for long.

Using all of her substantial strength Flare jumped clear of the tag teaming duo while spraying the ground beneath her with fire to prevent them charging back in. With three powerful bounds she was clear of the fight, spinning back around she she bared her fangs at them in a terrifyingly wide grin.

"Not bad you two. Let's see how you handle being on the other side of the ass kicking for a change." Three more bounds brought her back to the fray, this time instead of using her fire she bit and kicked wildly.

Adrenaline still surging Gauner put to use all the training he had received over the last three weeks. Pulling his dark aura to his front feet instead of his maw. Holding back to prevent serious damage as he had learned, he lashed out with dark infused claws.

Seeing Gauner go all out Gypsy picked up her own pace. Still unable to reach high enough to do any real damage she decided to try something risky. Ducking behind the Arcanine as she focused on her partner she climbed up her very fluffy tail to her back, she quickly realized this was a mistake.

Standing back Gauner tried not to laugh at the sight of his partner clinging on for all her worth as Flare bucked and kicked trying to dislodge her. Careful to stay out from under the big feet pounding the ground he continued nipping at her hind legs to assist in Gypsy's all out assault.

Without warning Flare pitched to the side, forcibly throwing Gypsy from her back. Gypsy, who was obviously stunned from the fall, staggered as she tried to get back on her feet. Turning on the fallen Riolu Flare advanced with an angry growl, matched in intensity only by the wicked snarl that accompanied it.

Wasting no time Gauner channeled his aura to his maw again, sending a quick blast of dark energy to impact Flare just behind her ear. Turning now on the fox Flare let loose a wave of flames. Gauner dodged quickly but picked up the distinct scent of burnt fur as he rolled away from the assault.

Not wanting to loose any more of his pelt he dashed in towards Flare, keeping close to prevent her from using her fire to its full potential yet moving carefully to keep her eyes away from his partner. He continued his hit and run tactic, staying just out of the reach of the jaws that could easily close completely around him as well as the claws that furiously marred the earth.

He kept up his distraction while he watched Gypsy, slowly charging her own aura based ranged attack. He kept his glances short and hidden from Flare, not wanting to give away his partners sneak attack. As the glowing sphere of concentrated aura became brighter and brighter he kept Flare's view focused on him and away from the impending attack.

Flare made it far from easy, she bit and kicked between gouts of flame. Two things became immediately apparent to the dark fox, he was rapidly tiring and wouldn't be able to keep his pace much longer, and more importantly, Flare was holding back, a lot.

He stumbled slightly and found himself pinned on his back under a massive paw that easily covered his entire chest. The air was forced from his lungs as he watched in horror, Flare drew in air to use a fire attack. Just as she stopped inhaling he smiled, a wide, toothy grin causing Flare to pause for a second in confusion. Her confusion was cut abruptly short when a loud explosion sounded from behind her.

Flare whined piteously with thick black smoke leaking from the corners of her maw. She teetered slightly before toppling over freeing Gauner from her heavy paw. The fox bounded away quickly before turning back to see the full effect of Gypsy's attack.

The Arcanine was now on her back, rolling back and forth whimpering with both fore legs rubbing between the hind, "Really Gypsy? You had to aim there?"

"Sorry Flare. That's the only shot you left open and I couldn't hold it any longer." Gypsy said sheepishly, rubbing her hands together, looking everywhere but at the Arcanine.

Gauner snorted, trying hard not to laugh. He kept his composure for several seconds before he closed his eyes and erupted into laughter. He continued to laugh until a dark shadow fell across him. Opening his eyes he found himself looking straight into Flare's very angry eyes.

He was about to apologize when a sudden though came across his mind, "Poor puppy. Do you want me to lick it better?" He said in a teasing tone.

"You know what, yes. Yes I do." She said sharply.

Gauner was just about to respond when Flare made a rapid spin, he had just enough time to lower his ears with his eyes wide before she lowered her hindquarters and sat on him. Pinning him under her with his head sticking out between her legs.

The fox looked up at the massive dog who was looking down her belly at him, "Feel better now?" He asked.

"Yes." As quickly as she had pinned him the weight was off and she walked, stiffly, to Linn. "Your turn, you can fight the next group."

"Fine with me." Linn walked out to the starting point in the field, "You two are done, follow the path back there back to town and you're done. Report for your score and to receive your assignment first call in the morning."

"Yes ma'am!" Gypsy replied with a salute then turned to Gauner, "We're done! Let's go get some rest!"

As the pair walked back towards the guild Gypsy noticed a smirk appear on her partners face, "What?" He shrugged, then snickered, "Seriously what?"

He turned to her with a wide grin, "So, first me, now Flare. Are shots under the tail just your signature attacks?"

Gypsy was mortified, "No! No! I wasn't aiming with you and that's the only shot I had open on Flare. I wouldn't just aim there on purpose!" She practically shouted in indignation.

"Sure thing, if you say so." He picked up the pace and walked in front with his tail raised high.

Gypsy grumbled as she followed behind the taunting fox, muttering under her breath, "Keep it up and the next time wont be an accident."

Gauner snickered again, giving his tail a taunting wave.

************************************

Returning to their room they both wasted no time shedding their heavy gear. Walking wearily to the common room they practically collapsed onto the large padded cushions, both letting out heavy sighs.

Gauner lay splayed out on his back, "I didn't realize just how tired I was until we had to climb the stairs."

"I hope we scored high enough to get a room on a lower floor. This is nice, but the climb is the worst." Gypsy said, her voice muffled slightly from being face down on her cushion, "We're definitely stronger for it, you remember how bad they were the first week?"

"Urgh... Please don't remind me, I didn't know it was possible for my feet to hurt like that." He waved his paws in the air as he spoke.

They remained silent for a few moments as they gathered their strength and their wits until Gypsy broke the silence, "Thank you for using your illusion on the stealth part. Pretty sure I wouldn't have done well without it."

"Sneaking and staying hidden are what it's for. I can't let anyone else know about it, but I will always use it when it will help us." The fox responded without moving from his sprawled out position.

Gypsy raised her head to look at him, "Why? I know it caused you problems in your tribe but nobody here is going to care that your fur is blue. You have nothing to hide from."

Gauner rolled forward from his back to a sitting position so he could look at Gypsy, "I'm not hiding it for me... well, maybe a little. I still don't like showing my real colors, but that's not why I hide my ability."

"Why then?" Gypsy asked when he paused.

Gauner looked at the Riolu, saw both curiosity and concern in her eyes, "I hide if for my tribe." He paused for a moment, a few weeks ago he wouldn't have shared this secret, but Gypsy was someone he had learned to trust, "It's how they keep the tribe hidden. If I show my ability now, everyone will know how they stay hidden. That's not my secret to share, it's theirs."

"I can't imagine what a tribe of foxes like you would be like. If everyone can do that then how do you know what's real?." Gypsy leaned forward and looked at Gauner as he started to chuckle.

The Zorua kicked his head to the side and gave her a sideways smirk, "We don't use it on each other. That and a Zoroarks illusions are stronger than a Zoruas. I'm an oddity there, my illusions are strong even by Zoroark standards. Most of us couldn't do quite as much as I can."

"So, what can most Zoruas do?" Gypsy asked then immediately added, "If that's not too much to tell me."

Gauner cocked one ear to the side as his smirk widened, "Just don't tell anyone else any of this."

Gypsy nodded in agreement, then her eyes when wide in shock as Gauners form suddenly changed in a flash of dark smoke and she found herself looking at, well, herself.

The now Riolu Gauner took a few steps towards her, "I can't change my voice, or use any of your skills or abilities, but I can make myself look like any other pokemon I've seen." Gauner changed again, now he was a mirror image of the Guild Master, "This is how we hide."

"That's amazing! What else can you turn into?" Gypsy's question was interrupted by a knock on the door.

Gauner dropped his illusion, changing back to his normal crimson tipped facade. Walking to the door he opened it to reveil a Machop in guild courier garb holding a fairly large leather bag.

"Delivery for Shadow Strike from a Mr. Vurdon." The courier said before handing the bag to Gauner. "Have a nice day Shadow Strike." Turning on his heels he quickly walked away.

Gypsy walked over to take the bag from Gauners mouth, she found it to be quite heavy, "From Uncle Vurdon? Wonder what he sent us."

Gypsy opened the bag and pulled out a large glass bottle with a note tied to the top. Setting the bottle down she read the note out loud, "I know you two worked hard today, and I'm sure you both did great. I've sent you a little reward to make the evening a little nicer. Signed Vurdon."

"Well what is it?" Gauner sniffed the bottle with both ears down, whatever it was it smelled strong and slightly rotten.

"It's Oran Brandy. One of Uncle Vurdon's favorites." Gypsy rolled the bottle to look at the label, "It's not a cheap item."

"So what do we do with it?" Gauner asked, still perplexed by the dark liquid.

Gypsy giggled, "We drink it silly. It's alcohol, makes you feel a little dizzy and happy." Gypsy pulled the cork from the top with a loud pop, "This is a lot stronger than anything Mom let me have, we'll have to be careful not to drink to much.

Gypsy liad back her ears as she brought the bottle to her lips, tipping it back she took a large swallow and broke out into a gagging coughing fit while Gauner laughed.

"Yeah, well I said it's strong. Let's see you do better." She said, holding the bottle out for him.

Giving the bottle a mistrusting look Gauner approached it slowly. Sitting down and balancing on his hindquarters he took the bottle in his fore paws. Giving the bottle one final sniff he turned it up, dumping a large amount of the contents into his mouth.

Swallowing the stuff there was nothing at first, then it hit him all at once. Fire in his mouth and on his lips, giving off vapors that burned his nose from the inside. As the liquid moved down his gullet it spread the warmth to his stomach. He didn't cough, he did however close his eyes and stick out his tongue it was now Gypsy's turn to laugh.

Licking his lips he faintly tasted the sweet flavor of oran berries, combined with the still spreading warmth in his gut it was actually quite pleasant. Looking at the bottle again he decided the fire was worth it and took another swallow.

"Hold on now! Don't drink it too fast!" Gypsy snagged the bottle from his paws, "Trust me on this one, too much of this is a bad thing." She took another swallow and managed not to cough this time.

Gypsy walked back to her cushion with Gauner following right behind, she sat back down an to her surprise Gauner sat right beside her leaning limply against her shoulder.

"Uhhh, what are you doing?" She asked the obviously relaxed fox.

"We've been so busy we haven't really had much time to just sit. My kind like to sit close with our friends, we usually sleep communally too. I've missed it." He turned his head an looked into her eyes, "You are the only real friend I've ever had." He turned his head away, "I'll stop if it bothers you."

Gypsy swung an arm around her friend, with all the unpleasant things she had learned of Gauners past, she was surprised there was something worth missing, "It's okay. I don't mind."

She took another draw from the bottle before holding it out for him. He took the bottle awkwardly, holding it between one fore paw and his chest. Lifting it with a hind paw he took another long drink of the fiery stuff.

They sat together drinking for a few minutes before Gauner spoke again, "Gypsy, I'm starting to feel kinda dizzy..." He said with a shaky voice.

"Yeah, me too. That's the point, but we should drink some water too. Otherwise we will wake up with serious headaches." She stood slowly on unstable feet, walking slowly over to a large clay crock in the corner that stored their water supply. Filling a large glass from the spigot on the bottom she upended it, draining it quickly.

Gauner attempted to follow but was having trouble walking in a straight line. Gypsy fell over laughing at the sight of the tipsy fox attempting to walk as the word spun. He continued to teeter as he made his was across the room with her rolling in laughter.

She abruptly stopped laughing when he collapsed at the foot of the crock, her concern alleviated when he spontaneously rolled to his back and hit the spigot with a hind paw, draining a large amount of water into his open maw.

"You really are a goof you know that right." She watched him as he continued to drink from the crock, her eyes wandering to his splayed hind legs, one on the spigot, the other hanging mid air. She jerked her eyes away as soon as she realised what she was doing.

Gauner stopped drinking and watched Gypsy walk back to her cushion in embarrassment. Taking his foot from the spigot he rolled back to his feet and staggard back to lay on the cushion beside her.

They sat together drinking slowly well into the evening, Gypsy's embarrassment subsiding as they continued taking turns with the brandy. She finally corked the bottle again when they had finished off a third of the large bottle.

"That's enough of that. Any more and we wont be able to get up in the morning." She staggered to the table, setting the bottle down. "It's bed time, I'll see you in the morning Gauner."

Gypsy found her feet too unstable to make her way to her room. Stumbling she found her face buried in something warm and soft. She rumbled a happy growl and she snuggled into the warm fur... fur! She fell back looking straight into Gauner's smirking face.

"My fur is nice isn't it." He said in a taunting tone.

"Sorry Gauner." She attempted to stand again but found herself falling forward again. Again Gauner's soft fur stopped her fall. Her face heated in embarrassment, elevated by the rumbling laugh coming from the fox, "Sorry sorry..."

The rather drunk Zorua started walking with the equally drunk Riolu hanging on for stability, "Don't worry about it, let's just go to bed." Gauner stumbled down the hall to his room.

He looked up to the bed, such a short hop when sober seemed a daunting task in his current state. Gypsy stood up and started walked to her own room as he attempted the awkward climb onto the bed.

He fell onto his rump twice without making any progress. He was clinging to the bed with both for legs and one hind, the remaining appendage stubbornly refusing to cooperate. He was slipping and starting to fall again when a hand on his rump stopped him.

Seeing Gauners trouble Gypsy had returned to assist him in his climb. She hoisted him up as he continued to attempt to kick himself up onto the bed. The inebriated duo struggled for some time before they both flopped onto the bed.

Gypsy landed gasping for breath with her eyes closed, as she began to regain her breath she picked up a strange musky scent. Opening her eyes she found herself buried face first into Gauners groin. She immediately heated, mortified at having landed in such a way.

Gauner saw Gypsy beginning to panic, reaching down with a forpaw he rubbed her cheek with, "Don't get embarrassed, you didn't mean it and even if you did, I don't mind." He reached up to her head and petted her fur gently, "You're my friend, don't be embarrassed if you want to look at me or touch me. I like you."

Gypsy looked at the furry sheath beside her muzzle, slowly she reached a paw up, giving it a gentle rub. She looked back to Gauner, he was just looking back at her, no nervousness, no embarrassment.

It wasn't fair, how could he be so calm when her stomach kept turning in knots. She wouldn't allow it, a surge of confidence hit her, she lunged forward and pressed her lips to his. His eyes shot open in surprise before he melted into the kiss, wrapping all four legs around her he held her tightly.

Gypsy ran her paws through his thick grey black fur, as she continued to feel his soft pelt between her fingers, his toned muscles under her hands she shuddered. What was she doing? She knew she didn't feel that way about him, but this felt so right.

Gauner wasn't sure how to progress, so he mimicked Gypsy. Pushing his paws through her fur to feel her muscles beneath so strong and firm yet somehow in his paws she felt soft. He pushed his nose up under her chin and took in her scent, he had always like the was she smelled, warm and clean like a ray of sunshine.

They continued to explore each others bodies with their paws, their mouths locked together, tongues twisting. The slight fuzzy feeling of the brandy adding to their pleasure.

They continued enjoying each other for several minutes before Gypsy jumped back with a yelp. They both looked down between them where Gauners member stood fully erect.

"Sorry Gypsy, you're making me feel really good." Gauner apologized.

"Erm, it's okay." Gypsy's eyes were locked onto Gauner's shaft, seemingly enthralled.

Gauner watched Gypsy watching him for a moment leaning forward and bumping his friend with his nose, "Do you want to touch it? You can, if you want."

"I... I don't have any experience with males..." Gypsy trailed off, still looking at the swollen fox before her.

She was still too embarrassed, this should fix it, "I don't have any experience with males either." Gauner replied with a smirk.

Gypsy glared at him then swatted him on the muzzle, "This is hard enough without your jokes."

"Definitely is hard enough..." He taunted, earning him Gypsy's continued glare, "Heh, this is new to me too. I was 'off limits' in the tribe. I've never done anything like this either."

That put Gypsy to ease, they were on nuetral ground. She swallowed hard and looked back to Gauners member, she reached down slowly and took it gently in hand. It was hard, and very warm.

Maybe it was pent up frustration, maybe it was the brandy working on her emotions, but whatever it was she decided then and there she wanted this. Grabbing Gauner with both hands she rolled to her back, pulling him with her.

Holding him on top of her, nestled between her legs she buried her face into his neck, too scared to meet his eyes. She trembled in nerves, feeling him do the same above her. The tip of his warm hard member pressing lightly against her sex.

There eyes were locked together, unable to look apart. She leaned forward, pulling her muzzle close to his ear to whisper, "Just... try to go slow, and be gentle please."

He took one of her ears in his mouth and chewed softly before leaning back to look agian into her eyes, "I'll try." He leaned forward and locked his muzzle to hers again as he slowly pushed himself inside her.

Still locked in their kiss he groaned with pleasure as he slid fully into her warm, intimate embrace. His hips bucked instinctively, demanding to pound into her. He fought down the urge to take her hard and kept his ryhthm slow and steady. Taking his time to savor the sensation of their bonding.

It was ecstasy, he had never felt anything like it. He had played with himeself like every other young male, but this was so much more. He could feel Gypsy's warmth around his member, tighly gripping him as he gently thrusted over and over. His head swam in hazy pleasure.

Beneath him Gypsy quivered in her own pleasure, she had been warned by her mother that there could be pain the first time, but there was none. She moaned in ecstasy as Gauner worked his length back and forth inside her. She reached down and griped his hindquarters, feeling his muscles work as he continued to thrust into her.

She continued to move her paws up his sides, feeling his body work into hers. He growled in pleasure as she rubed his shoulders under his thick ruff of fur causing her to hold him tighter. Locking her legs around his waist she pulled him in close, locking them further into each other.

They continued on in mutual pleasure for what seemed like an eternity before everything erupted at once. Gauner suddenly groaned loudly, biting down on Gypsy's shoulder and driving his hips in, bringing him to hilt in her. His hips continued to buck wildly as he grunted.

Gauner saw stars before his eyes, a massive wave of pleasure sweaping across his groin as he pumped his seed into Gypsy. As he continued to fill her tight space he felt his knot lock them together, sealing thier embrace. He couldn't help himself and let out what was somewhere between a long groan and a growl.

The sudden change in intensity as well as a spreading warm sensation deep inside caught Gypsy off gaurd. Her own climax came suddenly, sending quivering pleasure across her entire body. She bit her lip trying to remain quite, but the sensation finally one and she erupted into pleasured yaps.

She felt Gauner tremple as his emmision finally stoped. She could feel his warm seed all throughout her, coating her walls, unable to escape due to his knot tying them together. She invontarily tighted around his swollen member, eliciting a pleasured moan from both of them.

The now spent Zorua collapsed on top of her with a moan, griping her tightly with all four legs he promptly fell asleep. She reveled in her afterglow for several minutes, while stroking his thick mane like fur. He made a happy trill as she continued to embrace him, falling asleep herself moments later, with his member still locked deem inside her.

Gauner awoke the next morning to a rapid knock on the door. He was sleeping in an odd position, shifting slightly to attempt to rise he heard Gypsy grumble in her sleep. He opened his eyes and looked at her face as she slept, a slight smile on her muzzle.

Giving her muzzle a light lick he moved gently to get out of bed without waking her. Padding lightly across the floor he made his way to the door to stop the continuing knocking. He yawned loudly while opening the door and found himself face to face with a large Houndoom.

He froze mid yawn, sudden memories of raiding Krieg's pack came to mind, haunting fearful recollections of teeth and claws, death hot on his heels. She stood before him with a stern look on her face, staring straight into his eyes.

"Good morning Shadow Strike. The Guildmaster has requested your presence for a special assignment." She said in a mono toned voice, "You will forgo planned muster at first call and will instead go directly to the Guildmaster at no later than eight. Do you understand?"

"Yes ma'am!" Gauner replied.

She continued to gaze at him for a moment, leaning closer her nose twitched as she took a couple quick sniffs, "I would strongly recommend you groom yourself prior to reporting to the Guildmaster. Booze and sex are not appropriate scents for a rescuer to be wearing."

Gauner grinned sheepishly, "Yes ma'am, will do."

With a snort the Houndoom turned and left down the hall muttering to herself. Gauner couldn't quite hear all of what she was saying but picked up something about undisciplined rescuers. He closed the door between him and the grumpy dog and went back to wake up what he hoped would be a less grumpy one.

He made his way back to his room where he found Gypsy sitting up in his bed, obviously deep in thought. She turned to look at him when he entered. He couldn't quite place the expression on her face, it sat somewhere between worry and embarrassment.

"Who was at the door?" She asked when he hopped back up onto the bed to sit looking at her.

"Guild messenger, we are to skip muster and report to the Guildmaster at eight for a special assignment." He replied, causing her eyes to widen a bit.

"Did they say what the assignment was?" She asked.

"No she didn't, but she did say we should get cleaned up first." He turned to jump down to get his brushes but stopped when Gypsy grabbed his tail.

"Look Gauner... about last night..." She started nervously, "I... I don't regret what we did, but I just want to make sure we are still good. I really don't want to be any more than just friends... Not that I don't like you, I just..."

Gauner chuckled, "We're good Gypsy. Last night was nice, and I do hope we can do that again, but I'm not looking for a mate right now either." the fox was pleased to see her relaxing as he spoke, "I wouldn't mind if you would let me sleep next to you from time to time as well. That was nice too."

Gypsy reached across and grabbed him, pulling him into a tight hug, "I'm glad to hear that. I was really worried you would take last night the wrong way."

He returned her hug briefly before stepping back, "I'm just glad to have you as a friend, I don't need any more than that. We really do need to go get cleaned up though." He gestured to his matted tangled fur.

Gypsy looked at the state of Gauner's fur before looking down at herself, evidence of the night clearly visible in her own, "Yeah, let's head down and get ourselves back in order."

Satisfied with the outcome Gypsy led them down to the baths, which she was happy to find were nearly empty. Gauner seemed to care less, walking to the appropriate bath and plunging straight in he started paddling around in circles.

"You know we come here for baths, not to swim right?" Gypsy accused while playfully splashing water at him, "We are on a time limit today you know."

"I can do both." Gauner brought himself over to the step and sat in the warm water grooming his fur.

Gypsy wasted no time erasing any evidence of the previous night before moving on to the rest of her anatomy, cleaning and straightening her short fur. Watching Gauner tackle cleaning his fluffy mane of fur made her quite glad hers was short.

It took them quite some time to get completely cleaned and brushed, by the time they were done they didn't have time left for breakfast. They walked slowly down the hall to the Guildmasters office, a path neither had had a reason to traverse prior.

"What do you suppose he wants?" Gauner asked.

Gypsy though for a moment, "I honestly have no idea. It's very rare for a low rank team to get a request from the master himself."

"Were not in trouble are we?" Gauner tilted his head to look at Gypsy as they walked along.

She shifted nervously between steps, "I don't think so, we haven't done anything wrong. I just want to get there and find out."

Ahead of them two large dark stained and ornately carved wood doors signaled their arrival to their destination. Gypsy was about to knock on the door when they swung open to allow a busy looking Rattata to dart past them.

"Ah! You two are early, I like that. Always move with a sense of urgency!" Guildmaster Kite said in a bright cheery voice, "Come in, come in. We've much to discus."

Following the Guildmaster in they walked to sit in front of his overly large desk. The master walked behind and was completely obstructed from view behind the massive piece of furniture. Jumping easily on top he wove between a multitude of stacked papers to sit on the edge in front of them.

"Well then, I bet you are both wondering why you are here yes?" They both nodded in agreement to his question, "Well, two reasons, first let me congratulate you, you managed to score a rank C on your exams, that's an extremely rare occurrence."

"C? We scored a C?" Gypsy said in disbelief.

"That's right, that bumps you up the list quite a ways, and better pay too." Kite pulled a small box from under a pile beside him tossing it to Gypsy, "That's your team badges. Make sure you wear them any time you're on a ranked mission, outside of that we appreciate if you don't show them off too much."

"Yes sir, we will only wear them during appropriate missions." Gypsy opened the box to revile two small round copper pins with the guilds symbol formed in the center.

"Second thing, this is a big request." Guildmaster Kite shuffled through his papers to find the one he was looking for, "We have a new village, it's on the border of Far Reach and the wild boundaries. We need to station some permanent teams there and your team fits the bill perfectly."

"We do?" Gauner asked.

"Yes, because of you actually." Kite's response had them both perplexed, "You see, when we make a new village it displaces the local wild pokemon, we don't like that. We work hard to help them adjust and make sure they know there welcome to stay, but they usually end up leaving the area."

"They don't join us?" Gypsy asked.

"Some do but guild life isn't for everyone. That's not the problem though. Wild pokemon have been disappearing suspiciously and we are being blamed. Since you just came from the wilds I'm hoping you will be able to better fit in and help us with this Gauner."

"You just said wild pokemon tend to leave, why would it be suspicious then." Something didn't quite add up in Gauners mind.

"That's just it, they aren't leaving, they just vanish." Kite finally found the page he was looking for and handed it to Gypsy, "Those are the terms of the job, permanent transfer to the new village, team housing included, pay increase and duties. We really need the help and if you don't like it we can transfer you back once we have the problems with the wilds sorted out."

Gypsy looked to Gauner, "What do you think Gauner. We would have to move to this village for the foreseeable future."

"Your call. I really don't care where I live. If I can help there then I would be glad to do so." Gauner said with no hesitation.

Gypsy though for a moment, she was enjoying living near her Uncle, but there was a job to do, "We'll take it." They could always come back later, they were needed, "When do we leave?"

"Tomorrow morning along with the others who are going, take the rest of the day to pack your belongings and say your goodbyes. You will report to Flare at the east gate at seven in the morning to depart."

"Flare?" They both asked in surprise, causing the Guildmaster to burst into laughter.

"You're both new enough here not to know but despite Flare's tenancies and choice of odd jobs she is one of our top end A rank rescuers. She will be in charge of the new village's guild outpost." Kite told them matter of factly, "Now, off with you two, you have things to do."

"Yes sir!" They both said, turning on their heels and walking out the door.

They quickly made their way back to what would be their room for only one more night. Making quick rounds they gathered all their possessions, which were fortunately few. Packing everything away in their bags they were done by mid day. They both retired to the common room and sat down.

"Well, looks like we are ready here." Gypsy said, scanning the room to make sure they hadn't left anything out.

"Yeah, we're good here. Do you want to go say goodbye to Vurdon?" Gauner already knew the answer but figured the question would be a good way to get his partner moving.

Gypsy sat quietly for a minute, "Yeah, let's go." She said sadly. "I'm not looking forward to this."

They passed by team Wingbone's room on along the way but found it vacant. Decending the stairs they wove through the surprisingly crowded halls to the city streets. Traveling the shortest path they walked along to Vurdon's small house.

Gypsy stopped at the door with both ears down and a look of apprehension on her face, "I really don't want to tell him."

The door swung open, "Tell me what?" replied Vurdon, leaning on the door frame.

Gypsy looked like a child caught with their paw in the sugar jar, she attempted to speak but was only able to make a pathetic squeak.

"Did you not like my gift?" Vurdon asked.

"Oh no, we both enjoyed your gift very much." Gauner stepped up beside his partner and bumped her with his hip, "Didn't we?"

"Yes!" Gypsy practically yelped out, "Erm... sorry. We really liked it, thank you... but that's not what we are here for..."

Vurdon looked down at them for a moment before leaning back from the door, "This seems serious, you better come inside and sit."

The Lucario led them to his living area and sat in his favorite chair. Gauner flopped down on what he knew was the softest cushion in the room while Gypsy made herself comfortable on another.

"So, you too got to know each other better last night?" Gypsy's eyes bulged at her Uncle's bold statement.

"How did you know that?" Gauner asked while the flabbergasted Gypsy could only sputter.

"Hrm," A warm smile spread across Vurdon's face, "You two were good friends when we first met, but I could always feel some slight tension, that's gone now. That's not what you are here for either though, is it?"

Finding her courage Gypsy spoke, "No. We scored well enough on our tests to get stationed in a new village, we are leaving town tomorrow."

"I see, well that is how guild life goes." Vurdon's face kept it's smile, but there was sadness showing in his eyes, "You will remember to write yes?"

"I always have," Gypsy said, her own eyes starting to water.

"Now now, none of that," Vurdon wiped the tears from his nieces eyes, "We will see each other again. Don't you two worry about this one bit. Go, live your lives."

Not able to think of a good response Gypsy just nodded her head.

"For now, let us simply enjoy the evening we have. Would you both like to stay for dinner?" Vurdon asked, moving to the kitchen in anticipation of the answer.

"Yes please!" Gauner replied, bouncing off his cushion with his tail wagging furiously. Vurdon served the best roast meats.

Gypsy laughed at the foxes antics, "Thank you Uncle Vurdon, we would love to."

"Then there is little time to waste. If I could enlist your help we will be ready in no time." Vurdon expertly pulled the essential supplies and began his work.

Several hours later, the now stuffed full Team Shadow Strike bid farewell to Vurdon and returned to the guild to rest for their trip in the morning. They stopped by Team Wingbones quarters on the way back to their own to find their friends still absent.

"Well, I guess we don't get to say goodbye..." Gauner said sadly, looking at his feet with both ears hung low, his face hidden behind the brim of his hat. He had never had friends before, so he had never had to say goodbye to one. He didn't like the feeling one bit, but he found the feeling of not being able to even worse.

Gypsy looked at the sad little fox for a moment, "Don't worry about it. We might run in to them in the morning." Gauner perked up slightly, "Besides, even if we don't we will see them again."

The fox rubbed his face with one paw quickly, probably to wipe away tears thought Gypsy, not that she would tell him that. He leaned his head back and looked straight at her with a big grin.

"Of course we will. We are all in the Guild together." He said happily with his tail wagging behind him.

"Come on you goof. Let's get some sleep, the morning comes early." Gypsy led them down the hall to their own quarters.

"Can I sleep with you again?" Gauner asked as they walked through the common room.

Gypsy was startled by the question, "Er... Um... I thought we agreed it wasn't like that?"

Gauner cocked his head to one side, "Not like that... I just want to sleep next to you, I'm not after that."

"Oh," Gypsy remembered belatedly that he had said something about his tribe sleeping in a group, "Wait, if your tribe slept like that and you weren't supposed to get close to anyone how did that work?"

"I slept next to Shamman in his hut." Gauner explained, "He wasn't really a friend but he was the closest I had to one."

Gypsy watched as Gauner's ears started to melt down again, his past life... every time he told her something from it she just became more confused. Most of what he said was horrible, it was no wonder he had run from it. Then she would hear of some of the nicer parts and could almost see why he missed his tribe.

"Okay Gauner, you can sleep next to me." He instantly perked up with a happy yip, "But you better not kick or snore or I'll shove you to the floor."

In responce he rubbed along her as he walked to her room with a happy sway in his step. Gypsy shook her head and followed him in. When she made it through the door he already had her blankets pulled back for her and was sitting at the foot of the bed with his tail wagging, his hat resting on the bed post behind him.

Gypsy climbed in bed and pulled the covers over her, Gauner immediatly flopped down beside her on top of the covers, his back pressed against hers. With a happy sigh he instantly relaxed.

"Silly fox," Gypsy smilled, then rolled over and grabbed him behind his fore legs causing him to jump. She quickly pulled the blankets over him and held the slightly stuggling fox to her chest. "If you're going to sleep here you are going to sleep under the covers like a normal pokemon."

His struggling stopped and he quickly snuggled into the Riolu's embrace. "I guess I can handle that."

Gypsy looked at the fox in front of her for a moment, "One more thing, drop the illusion."

"What?" He turned back to look at her with uncertainty in his eyes.

"You don't have to hide here, but more than that, you really don't need to hide from me." She told him.

Gauner though for a moment before allowing the illusion to fall. Gypsy gave his now blue tipped head ruff a pat then snuggled in close the the warm fox.

"That's better, goodnight Gauner." She said.

"Goodnight Gypsy." Gauner replied.

Several moments later Gauner was listening to Gypsy's breath as she slept behind him, still holding him tight. Everyday since he had met her his life had changed rapidly. Each new day getting better, he was for the first time happy with where his life was taking him.

He smilled to himself and snuggled tighter against Gypsy. She made a happy mumble and hugged him tighter. Tomorrow would be another new day, at her side, he knew it would be a good one.
