But even with all the help, the hostiles put up a strong front, and actually began to overwhelm them all. It lasted for several more minutes, at which Vace and Crystal eventually joined in with the last two Delta squad Terveta following.

The hostile number trickled down to just a select few that continued to fight and struggle for a lost cause. They were ripped or cut to pieces. Before long, the meadow was transformed into a bloodied battlefield.

Blizzard dropped to his knees and then to his paws, gasping and panting hard. It was a strain to keep him from falling onto his stomach.

"Sir!" Seth yelled and ran to his Alpha's side. He began to look the husky over franticly.

His blue fur was caked with blood, wounds practically over every inch of his body, even with chunks of meat missing where hostiles had dug their teeth and bitten.

"You're bleeding to death," the leopard stated and pressed his paws against Blizzard's chest and back. A glow formed around his small digits and a pain began to form over his body as wounds were slowly taken from the canine onto himself.

"Stop it!" Blizzard snapped and wretched his body away from the healing powers.

"There are others that are worse then me. Now help them!" he growled and stared up at the Omega with cold harsh eyes.

Seth flinched and paused for a moment before he went on.

"But you'll die! Now quiet so I can help you," he growled back and replaced his paws on the Alpha's body.

"I said help them first! That's an order!" he roared and used the last of his energy to jump up to his feet and stare down the feline. Seth backed up a few feet, still staring at his leader, reluctant to do what he said but found he had no choice.

All the Terveta involved, save for the liquid metal retriever and Delta squad's Alpha, were severely wounded.

The giant three-headed wolf had suffered critical damage; all the bones in each of his legs had been crushed and three of its tails were missing.

Crystal had passed out from all the energy she had expelled, setting half the field on fire and then putting it out herself.

Bree was knocked unconscious. The Delta and Omega of Delta squad were ambushed right when they got within the hostiles range of attack, but they fought their way through the mass and came out in as good of a condition as Blizzard was.

Vace was the best one of them. He suffered only gashes and sliced over his body, none being fatal, and he was able to move around without much of a problem. His great physical endurance and his ability of location allowed him to see where each of the hostiles were when they came after him. Even without his weapons he was still an effective devastator.

Mathew appeared in the area just after the battle and began to go around his squad members, helping them as best he could.

Seth was pushing himself to the limits, helping the closest to death first and then moving on, using his ability of pulling damage onto himself and then rapidly healing to make sure everyone was in a stable enough condition to just start healing their pain and inflictions. Getting back their strength took much longer, but by twilight each was up on their feet.

Seth wasn't able to heal them all completely; he was shivering in so much pain after he had done his work that Vace had to carry him. The two squads began to move for the Terveta settlement at a slow pace, coping with their anguish all the way.

Blizzard looked down at the creatures that were scattered across the ground while he carried Bree in his arms. There must have been at least a couple hundred, none moving.

His mind was full of questions. Why did they move into the meadow? They obviously weren't hungry because the Terveta would have been the last thing that they would have seeked out for nourishment. It must have been to kill, but for what reason? They weren't provoked, and as far as he knew they never had a revenge emotion. It baffled him completely, and it was something that Professor Knetter would certainly eat up.

He was frightened, though. Did this mean it was unsafe to go outside the boundaries now? Then something struck him rather hard. They had just killed off a couple hundred in his last mercenary mission, and a couple hundred more now.

This meant either one of two things: either the hostile population was extremely low, or the hostile population was extremely high.
