"Have something on your mind Blizzy?" she joked, calling him by what his mate always had. He shot back a look at her over his shoulder that made her gasp. It was the hard presence in his pupil that he always had when he was furious or incredibly frustrated.

Suddenly she was as tense as him and staring around franticly. Her senses became enhanced, she twitched and shifted at every sway of the grass and every small insect that rose from the vegetation. Why hadn't she smelt them? Why hadn't Blizzard reacted against them yet?

Then she realized it. It was the field itself. The flowers and grass had masked their scent; they blended in with everything. She wouldn't have known if she hadn't gone on alert.

"Settle," Blizzard grumbled staring foreword again. The Beta looked up at him with widened eyes as if he was crazy. She fired back a look out towards the lake and her jaw dropped. How long had they been one the move?

The hill that Mathew was one was just a slight bump in the distance. They must have been right in the center of the meadow. Something hard hit her in the chest but was light. She jumped back and balled her paws into fists until she realized she had just run into Blizzard.

He was standing still, chest rhythmically filling and then falling each time he took a steady breath. She looked down at his shaking fists. They were glowing with a weak aura of blue with what looked like static electricity running up his arms in short sprints of energy.

Then suddenly there was movement in the tall weeds just to his front. It came at him from a distance away; still staying crouched beneath his sight. It roared menacingly and accelerated to an astonishing velocity.

Blizzard crouched and brought his paw in front of him, ready to fight until he realized something.

"Behind you!" he yelled, looking back at Bree.

Without hesitation she twirled around, putting her back to his just as two of them leaped from the grass at her. She brought her paws up just in time and hit them with a powerful wave of force. The two bodies hurled backwards and disappeared back into the grass with furious roars, struggling all the way.

Hostiles.

Blizzard reeled back to the front just as the first surfaced. Black fur showing, their bright red eyes were aflame with pure evil. It was a tiger, its jaw wide open with several rows of awkwardly pointing teeth, while slobber flowed form its jowls. It was just inside range within a second, much too close for an electrical or plasma bolt. He threw his limb out as fast as he could and jammed the length of his forearm across the beast's chest.

He surged a massive amount of kinetic energy through the connection, hoping for the best possible outcome.

The hostile's mouth snapped shut just inches from his face as it tried to bite into him but was stopped by the bone-crushing hit.

It went backwards with a pained scream right where it jumped out of and never rose again; its upper torso too mangled to have it continue on with a fight.

Suddenly there were roars and screams all around them, the landscape seeming to be alive with the monsters as they closed in from all sides.

The glow from his paws shot up his arms as if they were doused in kerosene and glowed just as brightly. A canine leaped up from the side, aiming its claws for his neck. He pointed right at the creature and let loose a bolt of plasma right into its chest before it got too close.

The body was torn apart and the remains were thrown back in fiery heaps. Three more rushed him at once. The hostiles no longer cared about stealth now or hiding their scents and sounds. Some stood fully from where they were and charged for the couple while others just kept her head above the grass when running.

The Alpha aimed his paws to his front and began to unleash his power. Bolts of the blue energy ripped into the grass, setting it ablaze and with it tearing to shreds the beasts that they struck. Roars of anger and fury rose up from his sides at the same time while three rushed him.

Bree was forcing hostiles back from her side, even concentrating enough to split some right in half.
